Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler could be all set for Oscar glory with his new movie. Sadly, no, it’s not Happy Gilmore 2. The beloved actor and comedian will reunite with Netflix once again for an upcoming coming-of-age comedy-drama, with a source who's seen the movie revealing that, not only will the streamer campaign hard for Sandler to be considered by the Academy, but that could even win a coveted golden statue.
Titled Jay Kelly, the movie is being helmed by Academy Award nominee and Marriage Story director Noah Baumbach, and could be described as a coming-of-middle-age comedy as it follows friends, played by Sandler and George Clooney, who rediscover their youthful spirit during a chaotic reunion.
Now, buzz from an early screening (via World of Reel) has emerged, with “industry sources, journalists, and test reports” stating that Sandler steals the show in Jay Kelly, with the Billy Madison star delivering a career-best performance.

Fans of golf and/or hockey and/or Adam Sandler should mark their calendars for April 27th and 30th, as Universal Pictures has announced plans to re-release the seminal 1996 film Happy Gilmore in theaters.
Happy Gilmore was Sandler’s second major starring role following 1995’s Billy Madison. The movie featured the SNL alum as a hotheaded aspiring hockey player who discovers a more lucrative use for his killer slapshot — professional golf — just when he’s in desperate need of cash to save his grandmother’s house.
Directed by Dennis Dugan, Happy Gilmore also stars Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and the late great Carl Weathers. Ben Stiller makes an uncredited appearance as a nursing home orderly who abuses Happy’s grandma (Frances Bay).
Thanks to Universal, tickets are on sale now for the late April screenings on Fandango. While this re-release is happening a year before the movie’s official 30th anniversary,...

Universal Pictures has announced the nationwide theatrical re-release of Happy Gilmore, the beloved 1996 sports comedy starring Adam Sandler as a failed hockey player turned golf sensation. Audiences nationwide can experience this comedy classic on the big screen during special screenings on April 27 and April 30.
In Happy Gilmore, Sandler stars as the titular character, an aspiring hockey player with a powerful slapshot who can neither skate nor control his volatile temper. When the Internal Revenue Service repossesses his grandmother’s house, Happy resolves to earn enough money to settle her debts and reclaim her home.
After discovering his golf swing can drive balls an extraordinary 400 feet, Happy quickly becomes an unlikely star on the PGA tour, despite his poor putting skills and frequent explosive outbursts that antagonize his more traditional competitors.
Originally released in February 1996, Happy Gilmore was created on a modest $12 million budget and earned more than $40 million during its initial theatrical run.

Hollywood is popular for its red carpet award shows like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmys, which come along with teary-eyed acceptance speeches celebrating cinematic masterpieces. Directors, actors, and everyone who works together to make a cinema great are acknowledged at these events.
However, to keep things in check and keep them humble, the Golden Raspberry Awards are given. This accolade celebrates cinematic missteps, films that missed the mark, and actors who delivered performances far from acting. The Raspberry Awards are the Thanos snap of Hollywood to keep things in balance.

When Gary Brandner finally cast the monster from his mind, and then onto paper, he gave it a familiar form. By that time, werewolves weren’t uncommon to see in Brandner’s industry, however, the late fiction author wanted to break the monotony. So rather than having a single werewolf pop up in a small town, 1977’s The Howling featured a whole community of werewolves. This small twist on the growing genre helped make Brandner’s first horror novel a success as well as attract the attention of Hollywood. Now, sure enough, creative license is part of the deal in these page-to-screen adaptations, yet Joe Dante’s ‘81 rendering is so distinct from its basis that it’s practically a different beast.
The Howling is a far cry from 1933’s The Werewolf of Paris, the Guy Endore-penned novel that many consider to be the Dracula of werewolf literature. Brandner’s...

Adam Sandler's 2015 sci-fi comedy movie Pixels will soon have a new streaming home. It will be available on Netflix starting April 11.
Pixels was directed by legendary filmmaker Chris Columbus. Sandler stars as Sam Brenner, a former arcade video game champion who unites with other players to save the world from an alien attack. When the aliens misinterpret video footage of classic video games as a declaration of war, they use the games as blueprints for their invasion, leading President Will Cooper (Kevin James) to recruit Sam to engage the aliens in an all-out battle where the fate of the planet is at stake.
Pixels was inspired by Patrick Jean's 2010 short film, and Jean served as an executive producer on the film. The story drew on the nostalgia factor of classic retro arcade games, with Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Space Invaders being licensed for the film. Pixels was released...

Not all of the classic Universal Monsters were based on classic stories. While Frankenstein and Dracula came from the minds of Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker, The Wolfman, and previously Werewolf of London, was based on folklore dating back centuries rather than fiction. While the character has had a hard time coming back into the limelight with the disappointing Wolfman from 2010 and even more disappointing Wolf Man from 2025, the myth has done well for itself even while not being as in the public favor as the Zombie or Vampire. Those original films may not be based on books but that didn’t stop writers from creating their own stories or studios from adapting them. This includes the likes of Hammer Studios Curse of the Werewolf being adapted from The Werewolf of Paris and The Wolfen getting turned into the 1981 movie Wolfen. Speaking of 1981, there were two other rather small werewolf...

Adam Sandler is back on the golf course in the official trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2,” which also reveals the long-awaited comedy sequel will begin streaming July 25 on Netflix.
While Netflix’s logline for “Happy Gilmore 2” keeps the storyline a mystery (it simply reads: “Happy Gilmore is back!”), the new trailer shows Sandler’s character having some doubts about facing off against a few PGA heavyweights. But he returns to the golf course with confidence and all hell breaks loose.
Joining Sandler in the sequel are returning cast members Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald and Ben Stiller, plus newcomers such as Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce and Sandler’s daughters Sadie and Sunny. Real professional golfers John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and more also feature in the movie.
Sandler teased the movie last year during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” by saying: “It’s good. We worked hard on the script.

Adam Sandler is one of his generation's most iconic comedy actors. His early works, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, etc., are among the most well-known and acclaimed. While later movies have seen a more "mixed" critical reception, Sandler has no doubt made his mark. But what if there was a secret Easter egg in several of his movies? And what if that Easter egg was hidden in plain sight?
In several Sandman pictures, his female love interest has the initials "Vv." There's Veronica Vaughn, Virginia Venit, Vicki Vallencourt, and more. But not every onscreen partner has these initials, so what's the story with the ones that do? Have we stumbled down some new conspiracy theory rabbit hole? Is "Vv" a secret sign warning of what's to come? Or is it just Sandler being Sandler and making up funny names? In all likelihood, the latter is the case.

The release date for Happy Gilmore 2 may have just been quietly revealed. While Netflix has not officially confirmed the date, the long-awaited sequel will reportedly hit the streamer in July.
According to Deadline, Happy Gilmore 2 will be released on Netflix on July 25, 2025. The release date was mentioned in a Feb. 13 about Happy Gilmore 2 star Conor Sherry that went largely unnoticed by the public for almost a month. However, it's worth noting that Deadline's July 2025 release date is several months later than the March/April 2025 release window that professional golfer John Daly, who will appear in the sequel, gave back in September 2024.

As Kansas City Chiefs players continue to process their lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl Lix, Hollywood insiders are watching to see whether Travis Kelce is ready to snag a coveted acting career.

Per the teaser, the film is expected to drop on the streaming platform in 2025. This huge celebrity cameo for Happy Gilmore 2 is set to be bigger than any aspect of the original Adam Sandler film from 1996. Updates for Happy Gilmore 2 have been limited since Sandler announced the sequel to his iconic golf movie had been greenlit by Netflix in May 2024, with filming commencing that September. However, Sandler's recent interview with the Dan Patrick Show has revealed some exciting details about the sequel, some of which emphasize how much traction the film has gotten since its release almost thirty years ago.
According to Sandler, the release window for Happy Gilmore 2 would be within July 2025 as filming was almost completed despite only three months having passed since filming for the sequel commenced. Sandler's statement is incredibly exciting, especially as several actors from the original have returned for Happy Gilmore 2, including Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Dennis Dugan, and Ben Stiller, who made an iconic cameo appearance.

One of Adam Sandler's most panned films is getting a free streaming home. While most critics have advised against watching the movie, fans of the funnyman will be able to judge its quality for themselves without paying a dime.
On Jan. 1, Sandler's Jack and Jill will be made available to watch on the free streaming platform Tubi. Directed by Dennis Dugan with a story by Ben Zook, the film was co-written by Sandler alongside Steve Koren. The comedy movie featured Sandler starring in dual roles as Jack and Jill, twin siblings spending time with one another during the holidays. It was released in theaters on Nov. 11, 2011, and in terms of its finances, the movie was a modest success, as it grossed nearly $150 million, but with a fairly high budget of nearly $80 million.

Adam Sandler is driving toward the release of Happy Gilmore 2, with the Netflix sequel having recently wrapped principal photography.
The star was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show episode that aired Friday, where he revealed that the movie completed filming that day. With Kyle Newacheck directing, the follow-up to the 1996 comedy stars Sandler as the unlikely titular golfer and has not yet announced a release date.
During the conversation, Patrick discussed having been on the set a day prior to film an appearance. When Patrick asked Sandler when the film might be available to stream, the guest replied, “I don’t know 100 percent, but I think around July. Not July 4th, but we’re trying to get it done in time for July. You never know what’s going to happen. We’re just finishing today — it’s the last day.”

Ben Stiller became a household name after starring in several hit movies during the 1990s and early 2000s. However, the actor says people often mistake him for fellow comedy actor, Adam Sandler.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Stiller explained that the mix-ups work both ways. "We've been buddies for, I don't know, 30 years or something now," the actor said. "People always will yell out to me or to [Sandler], and he'll text me, and he'll say, like, 'I was in Italy and someone said, 'Ben Stiller, I love you!' Or someone will say, like, 'Oh man, Click changed my life' to me," he added, referring to the 2006 movie starring his counterpart. "And then I'll say, 'No, I'm not Adam Sandler. I'm Ben Stiller.' And then they say, 'Who?'"

In Dennis Dugan's widely maligned 2011 comedy film "Jack and Jill," Adam Sandler played Jack, an advertising executive who was desperate to close a valuable account with Dunkin' Donuts. Jack million-dollar idea for the campaign is to secure the services of Al Pacino, as his name sorta-rhymes with the bakery's new coffee product, the Dunkaccino. Pacino plays himself in "Jack and Jill," and Jack repeatedly tries to get the actor's attention in public, as to make an impromptu ad pitch. Jack only becomes successful after Pacino expresses romantic interest in his twin sister Jill (also Sandler).
Audiences are then "treated" to the complete version of Jack's Dunkin' Donuts commercial, and it has become the stuff of cinematic infamy. Pacino raps awkwardly about the Dunkaccino, making references to his own filmography. Sample lyrics: "Attica, hoohah, latte lite/This whole trial is out of sight/They pulled me back in with hazelnut,...
