Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler could be all set for Oscar glory with his new movie. Sadly, no, it’s not Happy Gilmore 2. The beloved actor and comedian will reunite with Netflix once again for an upcoming coming-of-age comedy-drama, with a source who's seen the movie revealing that, not only will the streamer campaign hard for Sandler to be considered by the Academy, but that could even win a coveted golden statue.

Titled Jay Kelly, the movie is being helmed by Academy Award nominee and Marriage Story director Noah Baumbach, and could be described as a coming-of-middle-age comedy as it follows friends, played by Sandler and George Clooney, who rediscover their youthful spirit during a chaotic reunion.

Now, buzz from an early screening (via World of Reel) has emerged, with “industry sources, journalists, and test reports” stating that Sandler steals the show in Jay Kelly, with the Billy Madison star delivering a career-best performance.

Fans of golf and/or hockey and/or Adam Sandler should mark their calendars for April 27th and 30th, as Universal Pictures has announced plans to re-release the seminal 1996 film Happy Gilmore in theaters.

Happy Gilmore was Sandler’s second major starring role following 1995’s Billy Madison. The movie featured the SNL alum as a hotheaded aspiring hockey player who discovers a more lucrative use for his killer slapshot — professional golf — just when he’s in desperate need of cash to save his grandmother’s house.

Adam Sandler has some help on the golf course in Netflix’s newly released look at its upcoming comedy sequel Happy Gilmore 2.

The streaming service shared a new sneak-peek image from the forthcoming film on Thursday, coinciding with the company announcing its plans for movie, TV and game projects in the coming year. In director Kyle Newacheck’s sequel, Sandler reprises his role as the titular unlikely golf sensation that he originated in Universal’s 1996 feature Happy Gilmore. Filming for the project wrapped last month.

As seen in the new still below, Sandler is ready to take one of his character’s signature golf swings while getting caddy assistance from Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, also known as singer Bad Bunny. Another image, which is above, shows Sandler facing off with longtime rival Shooter McGavin, with actor Christopher McDonald reprising his role from the initial movie.

Fans can soon feel the love of a vintage comedy film featuring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson on streaming. The 2003 buddy comedy, Anger Management, lands an imminent debut on the free streaming platform, Tubi.

Tubi confirmed that Anger Management will become available to stream without charge on Feb. 1. The film has largely been available to rent or purchase digitally, via Prime Video and Apple TV. Anger Management is also the latest Sandler movie to be confirmed for a Tubi debut, with arguably his best feature, Uncut Gems, now available on the platform.

On a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Travis Kelce discussed how exciting it was to work with comedy legend Adam Sandler. Kelce will appear alongside Sandler in Netflix’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” which is set for a 2025 release. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is cast in a currently undisclosed role; in a recently released teaser, he appears to play some sort of country club employee.

“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said, “I thought ‘SNL’ was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

While he is by no means top-billed, Kelce said he has “a few” scenes in the film, and that shooting for “Happy Gilmore 2” was “a hefty load” of work.

“They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with,” Kelce added.

Travis Kelce is not only making another Super Bowl run with the Kansas City Chiefs in hopes of a three-peat but is also racking up his acting credits.

The NFL star is set to make an appearance opposite Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2 and recently opened up about what it was like to work with the comedian.

“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said on The Pat McAfee Show. I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career … working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

He continued, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true.

The star was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show episode that aired Friday, where he revealed that the movie completed filming that day. With Kyle Newacheck directing, the follow-up to the 1996 comedy stars Sandler as the unlikely titular golfer and has not yet announced a release date.

During the conversation, Patrick discussed having been on the set a day prior to film an appearance.
