Washington — President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, secretly worked for a Russian billionaire to advance the interests of Russian President Vladimir Putin a decade ago and proposed an ambitious political strategy to undermine anti-Russian opposition across former Soviet republics, The Associated Press has learned. Despite a whirlwind of controversy over the summer, it appears that at least one company out there still wants to associate with Hulk Hogan.
A fantasy sports betting site called Fan Picks has reportedly signed the Hulkster to an endorsement deal, per a new report from TMZ. A spokesperson for Fan Picks told TMZ, regarding Hogan’s recent controversies, “We all make mistakes and deserve second chances.”
When it comes to sports betting websites, a genre that is growing at an incredible pace, Fan Picks is not a particularly big name at the moment. Perhaps the company believes that by joining forces with the much maligned Hogan, they can gain some publicity and the investment will be worth whatever it is they are paying him.

Politics are an ugly business. A floundering campaign needs something to revive it and the person they choose does that but also brings her own troubles. What can.t be argued is that Julianne Moore morphs into her subject so much that it earned her an Emmy. John McCain.s (Ed Harris) in last place in the race for the Gop nomination. He needs something to reinvigorate his campaign. Strategist Steve Schmidt (Woody Harrelson) and manager Rick Davis (Peter MacNicol) know that their vice presidential candidate will either sink or reenergize the McCain run. "[McCain] knows in his gut that he put somebody unqualified on the ballot. He knows that in his gut, and when this race is over that is something he will have to live with ... He put somebody unqualified on that ballot and he put the country at risk; he knows that." -- Matthew Dowd, Republican political strategist, fall 2008
Few made-for-television movies have arrived with the amount of fanfare, anticipation and attendant hyperbole as has HBO's political docudrama Game Change, which chronicles Sarah Palin's erratic and polarizing performance as the Republican Party's vice-presidential nominee during the historic 2008 presidential election. Almost as soon as the HBO production of John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's blockbuster was announced, critics -- particularly those from the Republican right -- began taking potshots at it. That chatter has built up to a veritable crescendo in advance of Game Change'spremiere Friday on HBO at 9 p.m.

When Sarah Palin declared two weeks ago that she "wasn't too concerned about a HBO movie based on a false narrative," you knew instantaneously that she was fudging it more than a little bit about Game Change. Of course she cared. Just today she launched a video on her SarahPAC website defending her performance in the 2008 campaign and issued a statement that the film "presents a history that never happened."
A week ago Palin unleashed her dogs on HBO and, almost as predictably, on John McCain's senior campaign advisor Steve Schmidt, who has made his disdain for Palin quite public since the 2008 election. In a recent forum sponsored by the New Yorker, Schmidt openly acknowledged that Palin was "clearly not prepared for the presidency."

On Tuesday's Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert spoke with former John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis to get his take on the 2012 race. "What happened to Perry?" Colbert asked incredulously. "I was so excited about that guy! He was a proven job maker in Texas. He had the evangelical vote. Why did he crap out so hard?" "Well, politics is tough business," Davis answered.

St. Paul, Minn. -- The McCain campaign came out swinging Wednesday against the media over the controversy and coverage swirling around vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
RNC Victory 2008 chair Carly Fiorina, former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift and several other high-profile Gop women accused media outlets, liberal bloggers and the Obama campaign of sexism. Palin has found herself in the middle of a swirl of controversy since Friday, when John McCain announced her as his running mate.

St. Paul, Minn. -- With Hurricane Gustav mostly behind it, the Republican National Convention could extend two hours in broadcast network primetime Thursday and face a new challenge in the NFL's opening night.
Already the NFL has moved the kickoff time from the traditional 8:30 p.m. Et to 7 p.m. Et to make sure that the New York Giants-Washington Redskins game would be over in enough time so that John McCain would be able to give his acceptance speech on all the networks between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Et.
But that was before Hurricane Gustav wreaked havoc on the RNC, forcing it to give up a treasured night of primetime network airtime. While no formal request has been made, there's a good chance the McCain campaign might ask for two hours of broadcast network primetime Thursday to make up for it. St. Paul, Minn. -- The Republican National Convention resumed in full force Tuesday as the GOP turned its attention from Hurricane Gustav to carrying its message to voters.
Gop officials made the decision around daybreak Tuesday to return to a traditional convention format after it was clear that the hurricane, while damaging to the Gulf Coast, didn't approach the level of Katrina three years ago. Getting the call to address the nation Tuesday night were President Bush and Mrs. Bush via video, plus former "Law & Order" star Sen. Fred Thompson and onetime Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman.
There was little doubt that vice president candidate Sarah Palin would address the delegates in primetime Wednesday, and Sen. John McCain would be in St. Paul to accept the presidential nomination in primetime Thursday night.
"We are working to consolidate the programs for Wednesday and Thursday night," McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said Tuesday.

Sen. John McCain held a news conference late Sunday afternoon to announce that the Rnc's opening day in St. Paul, Minn., will be scaled back dramatically as Hurricane Gustav heads toward the Gulf Coast. McCain and his campaign manager Rick Davis announced that the Rnc will halt most of the convention activities that were slated for Monday, except those that are absolutely necessary. Earlier in the day, Republicans announced that it would open the convention on Monday afternoon but only for about two hours for procedural issues required by federal law. The rest of Monday night's program, including speeches by President Bush and Vice President Cheney, have been postponed.
"This is a time when we have to do away with our party politics and we have to act as Americans," Gop presidential candidate John McCain said Sunday afternoon at a news conference from a St.

New York -- The John McCain campaign fired off an angry letter to NBC News criticizing Andrea Mitchell's comments regarding the "cone of silence" at Saturday night's presidential candidates' forum at Saddleback Church.
Campaign manager Rick Davis cited Mitchell's comments on NBC's "Meet the Press" about how the Barack Obama campaign said privately that they felt that McCain "may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well-prepared." Davis denied what he called "a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated." McCain was driving to the event and then in a green room without TV, Davis said.
Pastor Rick Warren on Saturday sat down first with Obama and asked him the same questions he would later ask McCain.
In a letter to NBC News president Steve Capus, Davis said that the network's "level of objectivity ... has fallen so low that reporters are now giving voice to ubsubstantiated, partisan claims in order to undercut John McCain." He said he wanted a meeting with Capus to discuss news standards and objectivity.
"We are concerned that your news division is following MSNBC's lead in abandoning nonpartisan coverage of the presidential race," Davis wrote.
In a statement Monday, NBC News said that it welcomed an opportunity to speak with officials from both campaigns and said it is in daily contact with the McCain camp.
"With all due respect to the campaign leadership, they are viewing our coverage through a political prism," NBC News said. "We stand by our reporting, our journalism and our journalists."
It's not the first time that NBC has been the subject of questions during the presidential campaign. MSNBC and NBC News were cited several times during the primary campaign over perceived mistreatment of Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton.
