Our mother, Jean Harvey, who has died aged 83, declared at the age of six that she wanted to be an actress. She went on to a successful stage and screen career, receiving widest recognition for her work in television over more than 30 years.
Her most famous role was in Compact (1962), one of the BBC's first soaps, as the editor of the magazine from which the show took its title. She appeared in several classic serials, including North and South (1975) and two versions of Jane Eyre, playing Mrs Reed in the 1973 adaptation and Mrs Fairfax in 1983. Her favourite TV role was as Sally, the wife of Max (George Cole) in A Man of Our Times (1968), for which she received a Bafta nomination.

Jug Face was just released to theaters and we were given the opportunity to have actress Lauren Ashley Carter take part in our latest Q&A feature to talk about her role in the movie. Aside from discussing her favorite on-set memory and other Jug Face details, she also talks about her love of horror movies and what’s next:
Thank you for taking the time to talk with us. Can you tell us how you became involved with Jug Face? Was it something you heard about and auditioned for or did they reach out to you specifically for this part?
Lauren Ashley Carter: Thanks for having me! Andrew Van Den Houten and I have worked together previously on two films, Rising Stars and The Woman. He asked me to read the script and tell him what I thought. I called him after I finished and told him I really liked it.

Michael David and Tyler Blake have been making music together for years now, but it's on "Hanging Gardens" -- their debut LP as Classixx -- that they've finally hit gold. The Los Angeles-based DJ and production duo exploded onto the scene with "I'll Get You," a sing-song dance track that sounds like it has been around for decades. That 2009 single, which was written with and features Lady Gaga stalwart Jeppe, makes its way onto the album (May 14, Innovative Leisure).
"Gardens" is a near-perfect summer record, and anyone who has lived in or visited Los Angeles can instantly feel the city seeping through its 12 tracks. That makes sense, given the fact that the duo says they recorded the album "in every corner of L.A., from a very dense, industrial part of the Valley to our new studio in Venice Beach, Downtown and everywhere in between." Marvel’s Infinite Comics line – comics made for digital to be read on tablets, smart phones, etc. – turns its attention to the Guardians of the Galaxy as Brian Michael Bendis pens a short featuring the green badass of the team, Drax the Destroyer. Drax is the guy who beat up Thanos (the grinning purple guy at the end of the Avengers movie) so he’s the brawler in the group – I know, Marvel have a thing for green tough guys in their superhero teams but whaddayagonnado?
And where do all brawlers go? Yup, this story is set in a bar (on Rigel 3 – this is cosmic Marvel), where Drax is getting sloppy drunk when a group of alien townies decide to pick a fight. And Drax, even dribbling his booze at this point, takes them on easily.

It's not always easy to choose the right Valentine's Day music, and on a day (and night) when there are so many important decisions to be made (where to eat, what to wear, how many sprays of cologne/perfume, whether to be jaded and cool or have fun), why not let someone else do the picking?

If you haven't heard of Mykki Blanco before, don't blame yourself too much. The female alter ego of transgender rapper Michael David Quattlebaum had been somewhat of an underground phenomenon until recently.
But now she's been getting heaps of love for her fierce (and we mean that literally, not in the passe late-'90s way) rap skills and has been praised by everyone from the New York Times to Spin magazine.
Blanco was "born" last summer when Quattlebaum, who had been releasing music under the name No Fear and is also a poet, writer and a fixture on the downtown NYC art scene, first hit the streets of New York dressed as a woman, the New York Times reports. “I call it my golden-ticket day,” Quattlebaum told the paper. “It was like Pandora’s box opened.”

After a string of announcements, it looks like the Toronto International Film Festival have locked down their line-up and it’s looking like a fantastic slate. Much of the additions today come in the form of previous Cannes premieres, including Michael Haneke‘s Amour (review), Cristian Mungiu‘s Beyond the Hills (review), Abbas Kiarostami‘s Like Someone in Love (review), Bernardo Bertolucci‘s Me and You (review), Hong Sang-soo‘s In Another Country and the Venice premiere Olivier Assayas‘ Something in the Air. Most notably missing is Leos Carax‘s Holy Motors, but we do get a new Michael Winterbottom film titled Everyday. Out of the Discovery section, the biggest film seems to be The Brass Teapot, and indie drama starring Juno Temple and Michael Angarano and one can check out all the additions below.

Chris Hardwick Walking Dead with AMC in Talking Dead
AMC has given the go ahead for a post-episode talk show for The Walking Dead called, creatively enough, Talking Dead with Chris Hardwick as its host. Hardwick should be familiar to anyone who has ever watched G4’s Web Soup or saw The Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con this year. The show will feature actors, producers, and even fans taking questions and comments from viewers. It’s a fun concept that could create some good conversations.
I’m a little surprised at how good of an idea this seems to be. According to THR the talk show will be a half-hour and premieres after the encore presentations of The Walking Dead on Sunday, Oct. 16. Beginning Friday, Nov. 4 they will start to air following the encores at 11pm. I’m sure in the coming weeks we will hear about how exactly viewers...

"Dancing with the Stars" star Erin Andrews is suing several hotels where she was secretly filmed in the nude by a stalker two years ago. The 32-year-old sportscaster has filed legal actions against Marriot International and Radisson Hotels International for negligence, emotional distress and invasion of privacy.
In March, Michael David Barrett pleaded to numerous stalking charges, and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail. Some of the videos he posted online belonged to Andrews, whom he filmed from an adjacent hotel room using a modified peephole.
He tried to sell the videos to TMZ, who declined citing a clear and perverted invasion of privacy. Barrett posted the footage online himself.
Andrews is now suing the hotel groups and Barrett for more than .2 million for the "severe and permanent emotional distress" caused.

"The Insider" is first to obtain the court papers in the lawsuit filed by former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Erin Andrews against seven hotels and Michael David Barrett, the man who pleaded guilty to a felony stalking charge last year and was sentenced to a two-and-a-half year prison term. He also pleaded guilty to interstate stalking back in December. Click here to see the court documents. After Barrett was found guilty of secretly videotaping Andrews in the nude at various hotels and then posting the video on the Internet, Andrews is seeking to hold the hotel responsible as they allegedly revealed her room number and allowed Barrett to check in to adjoining rooms to her without her knowledge. As a result, the court papers say, the Espn reporter "suffered and continues to suffer from, including but limited to, severe and permanent emotional distress, embarrassment, past and future medical expenses,...

Erin Andrews' Stalker Off Hook for Espn's $300K Bill
Erin Andrews' stalker Michael David Barrett won't have to cough up over a quarter mil for the mess he caused Espn -- this according to a new court order signed earlier this month.
TMZ broke the story back in May ... Espn wanted the government to force King Creepster to cover all of the network's enormous expenses in the wake of the stalking scandal -- mostly for extra security.
Barrett fired back weeks later, claiming he's "virtually penniless" and shouldn't have to foot the $327,442.27 bill for a third party.
According to the new docs filed in California District Court, the judge agreed -- claiming "Espn voluntarily paid all costs on behalf of direct victim Erin Andrews and restitution to Espn is therefore not appropriate."

Espn is taking Erin Andrews' stalker case into overtime. The network has sued Michael David Barrett in Los Angeles federal court for $327,442.27 in legal fees, travel expenses and security costs, reimbursement for the dough it shelled out on behalf of its victimized reporter. A hearing is scheduled for June 7. Barrett pleaded guilty in December to surreptitiously taping a scantily clad Andrews in hotel rooms while she was traveling for work. He's currently serving a 30-month federal prison sentence for interstate stalking. Andrews, who was voted America's Sexiest Sportscaster two years in a row by Playboy, is currently steaming up the floor on Dancing With the Stars.

Come on, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. You know that the key to cementing your apology to a Dancing with the Stars contestant after publicly taking sides with her peephole stalker is to call. In other Andrews news, Espn is demanding $300,000 from Andrews' stalker, Michael David Barrett, to cover the reporter's additional security expenses last year. [Us]...

Elisabeth, you had the gall to attack Erin Andrews on The View yesterday, May 5, for wearing skimpy dance costumes on Dancing with the Stars, and the grace to apologize today — But do you realize how sexist you were being?
Elisabeth, when you told The View audience that Erin’s dangerous stalker, Michael David Barrett, who has been sentenced to jail for 2 1/2 years, should have just waited to see her skin on Dancing with the Stars, it was akin to blaming a rape victim for getting raped.
You implied that Erin had no business wearing sexy dance costumes, like other female contestants on Dancing with the Stars, because she had attracted a stalker.
Luckily your 5-year-old daughter Grace made you realize that you had been hurtful and that you needed to apologize to Erin, both publicly and privately. But here’s what I don’t think you’ve...

Erin Andrews is still going on Dancing With the Stars. The dude who shot her in the nude is just plain going away. The Espn reporter turned up at U.S. District Court in Los Angeles to watch a judge sentence her peeping/camcordering Tom to two and a half years in federal prison. Michael David Barret, a 48-year-old insurance executive, copped to stalking Andrews in December. He was busted months earlier after shadowing Andrews as she covered sporting events around the country. On three occasions, he got an adjoining room, drilled a peephole and then shot her on the sly. His candid camerawork was uncovered after he tried to sell the footage online. To hear him tell it, he's really, really sorry. But...
