Steve Buscemi and Daniel Brühl are set to attend Slano Film Days, which will focus on the work of actors this year. The festival, which was set up two years ago by former Sarajevo Film Festival chief Miro Purivatra, runs June 17-21 in Slano, Croatia. The actors will “share their insights and experiences with talented regional filmmakers,” the festival said.
Slano will screen Buscemi’s latest film, ”Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer,” which recently won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film’s director, Tolga Karaçelik, will also be among the festival’s guests. The film that brought Brühl international fame, ”Good Bye, Lenin!” will be screened in Slano in honor of the director Wolfgang Becker, who died recently.
Buscemi is currently working on a new film, “Wild Horse Nine,” directed by Martin McDonagh, for Searchlight Pictures.

Thunderbolts*director Jake Schreier finally has addressed why one founding member of the Thunderbolts team in the comics is not present in the MCU film. At D23 in 2022, Marvel Studios officially confirmed the lineup for the Thunderbolts team, which consisted of characters present in the film who had been introduced in projects like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and even Ant-Man and the Wasp. Yet one name was notably absent, Baron Helmut Zemo, played by Daniel Brühl. Zemo is the founding member of The Thunderbolts in the comics, who originally were a team of villains passing as heroes to the general public.
Speaking with Dexerto, director Jake Schreier acknowledged fans' disappointment that Baron Zemo is not on the Thunderbolts* roster. Despite The Falcon and the Winter Soldier characters Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and John Walker / U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) returning, it appears that even early on in development,...

When Marvel Studios first revealed Thunderbolts*, it was clear that the movie wouldn't have too much in common with the comics. Bucky Barnes was the only character with a strong connection to the source material, having led a team of his own on the page, but that's really it.
In the Marvel Universe, the Thunderbolts started as a team of villains masquerading as heroes, with Baron Zemo serving as their leader. Years later, Luke Cage led a team of prisoners, Suicide Squad-style, though neither concept will be used in the MCU.
Talking to Dexerto, Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier acknowledged that many fans are unhappy with Zemo's absence, but confirmed that the Captain America: Civil War villain was never included in any versions of the script he saw.
"There was no version that I was presented with where that was ever true, from the first draft that I read," the filmmaker said.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is the most successful in Hollywood history. It has grossed over $31 billion at the box office and its legacy will continue in the years ahead, with plenty of exciting titles on the horizon. From the Infinity Saga to the Multiverse Saga and beyond, fans are loving what the MCU is producing.
There are countless beloved heroes in the franchise, but Captain America might just be the most important of all. The Star-Spangled Man With A Plan is, after all, the first Avenger, so it makes sense that he be at the center of the franchise - and he was, for the longest time. As one of the leaders of the Avengers and a pop-culture legend even within the fictitious world of the franchise, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers was a fixture of the MCU until 2019's Avengers: Endgame when he handed the shield over to longtime friend,...

There's nothing quite like beautiful people in a beautiful place with a heart of darkness surrounding it. That's exactly what this summer's Eden is promising audiences, as director Ron Howard and writer Noah Pink take us on a tale inspired by a true story of European settlers who sought to build their own paradise in the Galápagos Islands back in 1929. But the harsh environment and the arrival of new settlers quickly shatter that illusion. Inspired by real events, the film explores how lofty ambitions unravel as rivalries, ambition, and human nature take over. Paradise comes at a cost. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Summer Preview, we’re unveiling a brand-new look at the movie, featuring Jude Law and Ana de Armas, and it's fair to say Law is looking slightly worse for wear next to his glamorous scene partner.

Isabelle Degeorges, president of Gaumont Television, has teased the upcoming six-episode series by Cédric Anger. Under the working title “In the Shadow of the Forest” (“A l’ombre des forêts”) and developed for Apple TV+, it features Benoit Magimel and Mélanie Laurent.
“It’s about paranoia,” said Degeorges.
“Four friends go to hunt in the forest and suddenly, somebody’s shooting at them. They have one second to decide what to do. They end up killing somebody. They are human – they’ve made the wrong decision, but their life becomes a nightmare. For me, it was interesting to wonder what I would’ve done in their place.”
Cédric Anger is also behind “Next Time I’ll Aim for the Heart” and “Paris Pigalle.”
“He has written the script and directed the show. He came to us and wanted to tell this story, but it was his story. He’s a cineaste.

Over the last two years, Marvel’s television slate faced a whole lot of shifting, followed by an entire revamping of its structure, and it seems to have finally found its groove. And there’s still quite a few shows on the horizon.
According to Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum, the studio is now “thinking about television really more like traditional television” — which in some cases means multiple seasons. “Loki,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are so far the only series to get more than one, though Winderbaum offered hope for “Agatha All Along” and “Hawkeye.”
In the meantime, it’s hard for anyone to keep track of all these series in their head. So, we went ahead and compiled a list for you of every confirmed Marvel TV show currently in the works to premiere on Disney+.

Hailing from Vienna, Austria, Andreas Nikolaus “Niki” Lauda was one of the most celebrated Formula 1 race car drivers of all time. He raced in Formula 1 for 13 years and managed to win the Drivers’ Championship three times. Lauda and his fierce rivalry with James Hunt gave the F1 world some unforgettable moments, which led to Ron Howard making a movie about the legendary drivers’ rivalry and the accident that shook the racing world.
Despite his unshakable driving precision and skills, an unfortunate incident occurred during the 1976 F1 season at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, a track also known as the “Green Hell.” Despite his request not to race at the track due to its horrible conditions and lack of safety, the Fia decided to proceed. Once upon a time, Captain America: Civil War was just an idea in Joe and Anthony Russo's collective think tank. The 2016 film sees the Avengers divided into factions, with Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) opposing legislation to regulate the heroes' actions and Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) supporting it. Matters are more complicated when Steve is forced to defend his lifelong best friend Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who was brainwashed into murdering many innocent people, including Tony's parents.
Interestingly, the brothers recently revealed the humorous story behind how they managed to get approval for as bold an idea as pitting the two biggest faces of the MCU against one another. In a new profile from The Hollywood Reporter, the Russos explained that they had two major hurdles in getting the pitch off of the ground.
Naturally, they had to convince MCU architect Kevin Feige.

Last October, The Franchise was launched on HBO, but the superhero satire series did not live up to expectations. In January, it was announced that the show had been canceled after one season with no second season in the works.
Per Deadline, HBO's head of comedy, Amy Gravitt, was at the premiere for The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 when she opened up on the decision to cancel The Franchise. She explained how she didn't understand why the series didn't connect with the masses in the way that HBO execs had been hoping for, touting it as "genuinely hilarious." Seeing the potential in the series from the start, Gravitt stressed how there was good reason HBO had given it "a shot," even if the response wasn't what was expected.

Aside from the bad guys that have been snapped out of existence or died horrible deaths, some Marvel Cinematic Universe villains have simply ended up finding themselves behind bars. To keep them in check, these menaces to society and superheroes have been sent to The Raft, a supermax prison planted slap bang in the middle of the ocean just by Ryker's Island. It was first introduced in "Captain America: Civil War," when those who opposed the Sokovia Accords were bagged and tagged in fancy prison threads, only to be swiftly broken free by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Since then, we've seen some real lawbreakers get trapped on that rock with no way off unless someone gives the go-ahead. But the MCU is a big place, and following the events of "Captain America: Brave New World," the facility is only getting more crowded.

HBO in January canceled showbiz comedy series The Franchise after one season. The superhero movie satire from creator/executive producer Jon Brown had Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Emmy-winning frequent HBO collaborator Armando Iannucci as executive producers.
Despite its great pedigree, The Franchise did not attract large enough audience, leading to the cancellation. Was it because of its inside-Hollywood setup that the show didn’t really connect?

It’s hard to state which movie singularly defined Quentin Tarantino’s career, given the director's exceptional career at producing cinematic splendor, to say one film defined it is like saying a single ant defines the colony. Up until 2012’s Django Unchained was released, Tarantino’s highest-earning film was 2009’s Inglourious Basterds.
Now the war film stands as his third-highest rated and his third-highest earner. Considered one of the best war movies, whose impressive cast stands up to this day, Inglourious Basterds can now be enjoyed on streaming, and it's currently available on Paramount+.
What Is The Movie About?
Inglourious Basterds follows US Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) who in the wake of Nazi Germany’s takeover of France and the merciless pursuit by Austrian SS Officer Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Infiltrating the Reich-controlled France, Raine and his commandos work behind enemy lines breaking Nazi morale whilst removing scalps from their heads.

"Life here is gruesome, frustrating. Failure is inevitable." Don't go to the Galapagos and expect luxury! A German distributor has released the intense first official trailer for Eden, the latest Ron Howard-directed feature film coming out sometime this year. Maybe. This initially premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Fest last year, but it got pretty bad reviews and it looks like it'll be too intense and weird and aggressive for most people. It's opening in Germany this April, but has no US date set at all yet. Have a look anyway! The film follows a group of people fueled by a profound desire for change; in order to turn their back to society they leave everything behind and set their futures on the harsh landscape of the Galapagos. Based on historical events, this scintillating thriller stars Jude Law and Vanessa Kirby as high-minded Europeans seeking a new life on a...

Thunderbolts*, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's answer to the Suicide Squad, comes out on May 2. Director Jake Schreier will surely want to distance himself from those kinds of comparisons, but it’s hard not to see the similarities between the two stories. Thunderbolts* stars a rag-tag team of misunderstood antiheroes working for a shadowy organization ruled over by a badass woman. If Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) getting an expendable group of souped-up villains to do her bidding sounds similar to Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) pulling the strings in 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2021’s The Suicide Squad, that’s because it is.
Still, Schreier’s take on Thunderbolts* revamps the typical Thunderbolts lineup from Marvel Comics and gives it an MCU twist. There’s no sign of Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo, nor the original comic book roster of Goliath, Beetle, Fixer, Moonstone, and Screaming Mimi. Instead, the live-action Thunderbolts...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has earned a bit of fame for creating memorable superheroes with profound arcs while leaving the villains on the sidelines.
Sure, Thanos, Loki, The Vulture, and The Kingpin are a few exceptions (though audiences witnessed the origin of the latter in a Netflix series instead of a Disney project). However, more often than not, the antagonists act as a one-and-done with no major arc or character development in sight.
It's very uncommon to see the same villain across multiple projects, but there have been a handful of exceptions to that rule across the years. Now, it seems like we'll see one of those lucky few even sooner than originally expected.
Baron Zemo will reportedly appear in Thunderbolts*

Captain America: Brave New World marks director Julius Onah's fourth time directing a feature-length project, putting the relatively unheralded filmmaker among some top Hollywood veterans. Onah credits one of those veterans, acclaimed actor Harrison Ford, for making his experience worthwhile, claiming that meeting him remains a "pinch me moment" he'll always cherish.
During an interview with Deadline, Onah delved into his collaboration with Ford on Brave New World as they carved out Ford's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as U.S. President Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross/Red Hulk. The Nigerian-American filmmaker recalled watching Ford in Indiana Jones films as a child and in Clear and Present Danger after moving to the U.S., never thinking he'd have the opportunity to work with someone like him on a major production.

This article contains spoilers for "Captain America: Brave New World."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in trouble. The past couple of years have seen a string of commercial and critical failures that have put the future of this cinematic experiment in peril. Worse yet, it seems every new Marvel project is met with apathy and disinterest. With the Multiverse Saga heading toward its conclusion, every movie counts, and sadly, "Captain America: Brave New World" is not the clear-cut solution to Marvel's problems. This is a safe, forgettable, entirely unpolitical movie with nothing to say and little to offer that "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" didn't already cover. We may never know how much damage the reshoots did to the movie or whether previous drafts were any better, but it's hard to imagine things being worse than what is hitting theaters.

The following article contains spoilers for "Captain America: Brave New World"
Imagine the scene: You're watching "Captain America: Brave New World," wondering for something like an hour and a half just what, exactly, is Samuel Sterns' (Tim Blake Nelson) endgame with President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford in a recast role after William Hurt passed away in 2022). Slowly, realization starts to creep in as the gamma-powered villain abuses the president's radio comms to psych him up aboard the USS Milius, and Ross temporarily reacts with a fury that turns his eyes red and makes his muscles bulge.
Even then, whatever inkling of suspicion or knowledge of Ross' comic book backstory you might have at your disposal, the scene where he finally gives in and Hulks up during a press conference would hit like a brick. Seeing the Red Hulk rise from behind the podium, with Harrison Ford's face and a...

Swedish director Ruben Östlund is set to make waves with his latest film, “The Entertainment System Is Down,” which has already secured international distribution deals and boasts a star-studded cast including Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, and Daniel Brühl.
The film, which began shooting in January 2024, explores a unique scenario: passengers trapped on a long-haul flight between England and Australia with no in-flight entertainment. This premise aligns with Östlund’s reputation for insightful social commentary, examining human behavior during moments of unexpected boredom and stress.
A24 has acquired U.S. distribution rights, with additional pre-sale agreements from major international distributors like Lionsgate Films (UK), Lucky Red/Teodora Film (Italy), and Road Pictures (China). The project represents a significant pan-European collaboration, involving production companies from Sweden, Germany, and France.

A who’s who of German on-screen talent, including actors Daniel Brühl, Jella Haase, Birgit Minichmayr, Jürgen Vogel and Sonja Heiss, have signed an open letter protesting Wednesday’s vote in the German parliament that saw an anti-immigration policy passed with the support of the far-right AfD party.
A proposal from the conservative Cdu party to introduce new measures, including permanent border controls at Germany’s borders with its European Union neighbors, a de-facto entry ban for anyone without valid documentation, and immediate detention for individuals facing deportation, narrowly passed the Bundestag, Germany’s parliament, on Wednesday but only with the support of the AfD. The proposals still have to be put to a formal vote before becoming law.

In some exciting news for Keanu Reeves fans, principal photography has commenced for Ruben Östlund's next film, The Entertainment System Is Down. Much like his previous work, Triangle of Sadness, the movie is set to be a dark satirical film with an impressive ensemble cast. The movie stars the John Wick actor alongside Kirsten Dunst, and Daniel Brühl, and filming is set to start in Budapest and last 70 days, concluding sometime around May (via Deadline). Given that the director's previous film was awarded the Palme d'Or in 2022, there is plenty of hype surrounding the movie.

Ruben Östlund’s The Entertainment System Is Down – a dark satire starring Kirsten Dunst, Keanu Reeves and Daniel Brühl – has now started filming.
Here’s a project that has sounded rather enticing, ever since it was first announced in April of last year. Ruben Östlund, the filmmaker behind Force Majeure and Triangle Of Sadness has assembled an exciting cast for what looks to be a story examining the darker impulses of human nature.
A24 is backing The Entertainment System Is Down, and the boutique studio is really backing Östlund in what we’re hoping retains the filmmaker’s arthouse sensibilities while also appealing to a broader audience. As well as footing the bill for an incredible ensemble of acting talent, A24 has also backed the purchase of a retired Boeing 747 for the film, which is presumably sitting on a studio backlot somewhere in Budapest as Östlund uses it to make his movie.

Captain America: Brave New World is nearly here and Marvel Thailand has just dropped a couple of unique posters to hype up the movie's release.
