The Last of Us season 2 is finally rolling on screens right now, but it isn’t one without gut-wrenching moments of its own. While it is coming across as one of the most tear-jerking experiences for the non-gamers who are viewing this series for the first time, it’s even worse for people who have long been fans of the franchise, from the video games — like Tati Gabrielle.
For one, it is making those longtime fans relive some of the most nightmarish events, and Gabrielle found herself becoming a victim of the same as she experienced ‘the worst’ Ptsd during one gut-wrenching scene. And, surprisingly enough, this scene wasn’t the one featuring Joel’s death, as many might expect, but rather, something else altogether.

The Last of Us makes a major change to one of the most important events in the game, as the way Joel’s death is handled in the show differs from the original game. This change has led to several debates among fans about which version of the scene is more effective.
Joel’s death in the show is more emotional
In the game, The Last of Us, Joel’s death is sudden and brutal. He’s ambushed by Abby and quickly killed.

Doctor Doom wearing the face of Tony Stark is something that has a lot of fans intrigued about how the MCU is going to address the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is playing both characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been a lot of theories as to why Doctor Doom looks similar to Tony Stark, and some are a little darker than others.
The theory rests on the fact that Tony Stark and Doctor Doom are in fact Variants of each other. While this has some utterly fascinating implications for the MCU, it could lead to a multitude of things, with one outcome being something right out of a horror movie. However, it is something that we have already seen in the MCU, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Florence Pugh is reflecting on Yelena Belova’s direction in Thunderbolts** while recalling incidents from a challenging production, including a scorpion encounter and cast injuries on set. The Marvel film, directed by Jake Schreier, features a team of conflicted operatives led by Yelena and includes Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).
At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Pugh revealed she completed a base jump from Merdeka 118, the second-tallest building in the world. The Malaysia stunt, filmed alongside longtime Marvel stunt coordinator Heidi Moneymaker and base jumper Katie Hansen, was not for individual recognition. “That day in Malaysia was an achievement for all of us,” she said. “We all got to say that we worked on that stunt, and what a powerful way to start a movie.”

Marvel Studios has left Galactus mostly hidden in trailers for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but keeping promo art under wraps has always been a near-impossible task for Kevin Feige and company.
We recently got a blurry first look at Ralph Ineson's Eater of Worlds, and a clearer shot of the artwork has now revealed the English actor's take on Galactus in all his gigantic glory. That suit is mighty impressive—and comic accurate—and Ineson's likeness is unmistakable beneath the villain's iconic helmet.
Based on comments from filmmaker Matt Shakman, Galactus will be brought to life in The Fantastic Four: First Steps through a combination of practical costume effects and VFX.
Talking about being cast in the role, Ineson previously said, "It was really humbling. When they announced that, I was like, 'How is that going to go down?' because there were a lot of big names that had been attached.

Thunderbolts* is now playing in theaters, and it seems to have a fan in Robert Downey Jr., who assembled a few members of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday to watch it.

“Just wow!!! Dinner and a show with the Old Avengers,” Downey Jr. wrote in the captain. “So cool, fresh, and deep. Big congrats.“
The photo may also give fans some insight into Downey Jr.’s appearance in the film, as he’s rocking some close-cut hair and no beard. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything, as the character of Doctor Doom is almost always depicted wearing a mask.
In addition to Downey Jr., the actors in the group shot include Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Paul Rudd, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, Winston Duke, and Anthony Mackie. All these actors are included in the...

Avengers: Doomsday started shooting in the UK earlier this week, and the cast just assembled for a screening of Thunderbolts*.
Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu was the first to share a photo on social media, and fans were quick to point out that he's likely revealed Robert Downey Jr.'s look for his role as the McU's Victor Von Doom.
The actor—thankfully—isn't rocking Tony Stark's trademark goatee and instead has short grey hair and no beard whatsoever. Of course, if the Russo Brothers are doing it right, we either won't see Doctor Doom's face or, if we do, it will be hideously scarred.
However, if Doom wins the day, then he may heal his face and unmask in Avengers: Secret Wars. That would differ from the comics where, even as "God" on Battleworld, he was unable to fix his scars, with Mister Fantastic doing so when he put the Multiverse back together.

Early in The Last of Us Part II, Joel, the main character from the first video game, dies. He is brutally murdered by a new character named Abby while his surrogate daughter Ellie watches. For the rest of the game, players switch between playing as Ellie and Abby, as the one goes on a quest for revenge and the other recovers from her own.
Critics loved the game, but players went berserk. There was an online backlash so loud you could not avoid it if you were even passingly interested in gaming and owned a phone. Offended fans raged and ranted; the low point may have been when Laura Bailey, the actor who voiced Abby, received death threats not only against herself but her 2-year-old son.
The Last of Us Part II was released in 2020, and time has vindicated it. It sold less than the original game, but it still sold over 10 million copies,...

Last month, the Marvel Studios social media accounts started live-streaming a video they labeled as an all-caps Announcement. The video showed a soundstage where, one by one, chairs reserved for actors were revealed, with a new chair coming into view every 10 minutes or so. As it turns out, this was a very long and slow way of revealing (a large chunk of) the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which is now in production and aiming for a May 1, 2026 theatrical release. The names of twenty-seven cast members were shown that day, with Marvel teasing, “There’s always room for more…” With cameras now rolling, we’ve been waiting to see if they’ll announce the rest of the cast list with more chair backs, or they’ll find a different way to do it. And while we wait, industry journalist Jeff Sneider of The InSneider has been sent a list that his...

May brings a wave of new content to Netflix, with stories ranging from laugh-out-loud comedies to edge-of-your-seat thrillers. There’s a little something for everyone, whether you’re into big-name casts or hidden gems.
I’m pumped about this month’s mix of originals, classic movies, and a live event to close things out. Let’s dive into some of the standout titles hitting the service.
‘The Four Seasons’ (May 1)
Tina Fey co-created and stars in ‘The Four Seasons,’ a comedy series remaking the 1981 film. Alongside Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte, Fey explores three couples whose group vacations get messy after a breakup. It’s funny and heartfelt.
Debuting on May 1, this show nails friendship and love with a great cast. The humor and drama make it a solid watch for comedy fans looking for something fresh.
‘The Royals’ (May 9)
‘The Royals’ is an Indian romantic drama starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is rising from the grave, and Sarah Michelle Gellar is the one wielding the resurrection spell. The iconic ’90s series, which turned Gellar into a pop culture legend as the vampire-slaying Buffy Summers, is getting a reboot on Hulu, and Gellar’s not just along for the ride; she is helping steer the ship.
After years of dodging revival talk, Gellar’s now all-in, serving as both star and executive producer alongside Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao. With a fresh Slayer, new Scoobies, and Gellar’s passion driving it, this reboot promises to honor the original while staking new ground.

This year's most unlikely team of superheroes have arrived on the silver screen but it won't be long until another iconic team makes its presence felt on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thunderbolts* has arrived in movie theaters around the world and it promises to be one heck of a fun time, setting the stage for the next chapter of the franchise - a more positive one, hopefully - by being a good old-fashioned standalone thriller of a superhero movie.
Thunderbolts* has been receiving a litany of extremely positive reviews, with some calling it one of the best Marvel movies ever made. It's a win that the Marvel Studios franchise needed after a number of misses throughout the past few years and it has set the standard very high for what is going to be a string of major consecutive releases over the next few years.
Speaking of that, it won't...

[Editor’s note: This article contains spoilers for “The Last of Us” Season 2, Episode 3]
Games are the only art form where the player makes the story happen, whether that means saving the princess from the monster in the castle or murdering an entire hospital full of people to save the one person immune to the Cordyceps infestation whose death might lead to a cure. You have to make Joel’s choices to finish the game, whether you agree with them or not. That’s what really hurts.
A huge part of adapting from games to another medium is figuring out what has to shift about the story when it’s no longer designed around somebody playing, and maybe no adaptation understands this challenge better than “The Last of Us.” No amount of load screen homages, lore drops and Easter eggs, or lovingly recreated environments stand in for good storytelling. When “The Last of Us” invents wholly original sequences,...

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains heavy spoilers for Thunderbolts*
Thunderbolts*, or as they should be called now, The New Avengers, have turned things around for the MCU. And with the post-credit scene that the studio decided to add to it, it is safe to say that the MCU is going to be changed forever.
The second post-credit scene in Thunderbolts* saw The New Avengers getting alerted about a ship appearing in space, which was flagged as interdimensional. The ship in question had a Fantastic Four symbol on it, which suggests that Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny are going to end up in the mainstream MCU by the end of their film.
Given that First Steps will have Galactus as the main antagonist, it is possible to know how the Fantastic Four might end up on Earth-199999 The Fantastic Four: First Steps || Credit: Marvel Studios

The HBO show of the moment is The Last of Us, the network's adaptation of Naughty Dog's series of video games. The show follows Joel and Ellie, two survivors of the zombie apocalypse.
Well, it used to follow Ellie and Joel. In last week's episode, Joel was brutally murdered by a new character named Abby. Meanwhile, back in the fortified settlement of Jackson, Joel's brother Tommy helped defend the snow-bound town from a massive zombie attack. That battle scene reminded more than a few people of the Massacre at Hardhome from another huge HBO show, Game of Thrones; in that battle, Jon Snow defended the fortified snowbound town of Hardhome from a massive zombie attack. The similarities were so obvious that even the official Max channel pointed it out:
Same mentality, different realm. #TheLastOfUs pic.twitter.com/OKuQSfHEGx

Killing Joel is another Game of Thrones-esque move.

The latest episode of The Last of Us explored the fallout of Joel's brutal death. The show is heading into new territory now as Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Merced) head to zombie-infested Seattle to hunt down his killers.
That's where we'll find them when the fourth episode of season 2 airs this Thursday, and HBO has released a bevy of new images. Let's check them out, starting with Ellie and Dina surveying their new surroundings:

Pedro Pascal has taken to Instagram to seemingly confirm that he's started shooting Avengers: Doomsday for Marvel Studios. The actor shared some photos of a book he's reading between takes, and a glimpse of his blue Mister Fantastic suit can be seen beneath.
Is it the same costume as the one we'll see in The Fantastic Four: First Steps? Honestly, it's impossible to say, though we'd imagine Marvel's First Family will receive at least a few updates after arriving on Earth-616.
Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are all set to return in Avengers: Doomsday. However, during that lengthy cast reveal, Marvel Studios seemingly made a point of revealing Pascal's name right before Robert Downey Jr.'s, a hint perhaps that the Reed Richards/Doctor Doom conflict will be front and centre in the movie.

Those looking for the 411 on Crime 101are in luck, as Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry's upcoming heist thriller has stolen a high-profile date in Amazon MGM Studios' theatrical release calendar. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crime 101, based on the crime novella of the same name by author Don Winslow, will open in theaters on Feb. 13, 2026, just in time for Valentine's Day, because who needs flowers when you have an Avenger in action outside the MCU? It also coincides with the beginning of Presidents' Day weekend.
The studio behind Crime 101 has reportedly committed to Feb. 13, 2026, despite it being the same day that Emerald Fennell's controversial Wuthering Heights' adaptation opens in theaters, and a highly curious untitled MCU Phase 6 movie. This release date takes advantage of the long holiday weekend that often presents moviegoers with free time to visit the theater. The addition of Crime 101 to the...

One of the stars of the original Office series has finally broken his silence on the looming reboot. There were many actors to benefit from The Office becoming such a hit, but perhaps none more than John Krasinski. It was announced last year that a sequel/spin-off series to The Office had been ordered with original creator Greg Daniels set to return, but the catch was that the show would feature an all-new cast. Krasinski recently sat down with ScreenRant to promote his new Guy Ritchie movie, Fountain of Youth, and he was asked about his relationship with Domhnall Gleeson, who has been tapped to lead The Office spin-off:
"He [Domhnall] was so sweet. We were in Cairo when he told me about it, and he was adorably nervous to talk to me about it, and he was like, "I think I might do this thing. What do you think?" And it was a unanimous,...

Chris Hemsworth is now (or soon will be) filming his scenes as Thor for Avengers: Doomsday, and stunt performer Bobby Holland Hanton has shared a photo of the actor arriving to the set.
Hemsworth himself followed up with an Instagram video that shows him pounding a punching bag as he gets a bit of last-minute training in for his return as the God of Thunder.
As you can see, Hemsworth is sporting the shorter "Gladiator Thor" hairdo he debuted in Thor: Ragnarök and kept for Avengers: Infinity War. Though there's always a chance he will don the blond wig once he's in front of a camera, this look does line-up with the leaked concept art that did the rounds online a couple of months ago.

Pedro Pascal has had a banger of a year in 2024, with a slew of his films taking over the box office. One of his most celebrated offerings of the previous year was The Wild Robot, which fans might be thrilled to learn is coming to Netflix in less than a month.

Avengers: Doomsday has begun shooting in the UK, and while we're still expecting the cast to expand in the weeks and months ahead, we now have news on some behind-the-camera talent.
According to multiple outlets, Newton Thomas Sigel will serve as Avengers: Doomsday's cinematographer. Best known for his collaborations with now-disgraced filmmaker Bryan Singer, his credits include The Usual Suspects, all four of Singer's X-Men movies, Superman Returns, Drive, and Da 5 Bloods.
Sigel worked with the Russos Brothers on Cherry and Extraction, so the directing duo clearly has a lot of faith in his abilities when it comes to helping them tell Doctor Doom's story. Avengers: Secret Wars will begin filming shortly after Doomsday wraps, so chances are Sigel will be back for that too.

In this world, you either survive or you don’t. Indeed, there’s something eerily fitting about that line. The Last of Us isn’t just about surviving the infected; it’s about outlasting the chaos that the world has become. The apocalypse, with all its infected horrors, isn’t the worst part. The worst part? It’s the people. In a world so broken, factions rise like vultures circling for scraps.
For Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), it’s a game of survival, but it’s also a game of playing the field of power. Sure, the infected are terrifying: no one wants to get bitten, but the real danger lies in what we do when we’re pushed to the edge.
The W.L.F., the Seraphites, the Fireflies – all have their unique flavors of survival, but each shares one trait: nothing is ever black and white.

When Bella Ramsey made their television debut on Game of Thrones as Lady Lyanna Mormont, Kit Harington was blown away by this young actor who seemed to steal the scene effortlessly. In a conversation for Interview Magazine, Ramsey recalled a moment when they helped Harington when he was having trouble with his lines.
“I don’t know whether you remember this, but I remember it quite vividly and have some remorse for it now, but during that scene I was mouthing your lines to you,” Ramsey said. “Now I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, how awful.’ But at the time it came from a very innocent place of being like. ‘Kit’s struggling with his line and I know it, so let me just mouth it to him.’“

THR reports that Chris Hemsworth is set to star in Subversion for Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by Patrick Vollrath from a script by Andrew Ferguson, the project has been described as a “Die Hard on a submarine” style thriller. Personally, I’m still waiting for “Die Hard on an ice cream truck.”
Hemsworth will star as a “once-promising Naval commander who is blackmailed by a cartel-like operation into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters. Thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, the man must outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both in and outside of the submarine.” Lorenzo di Bonaventura is set to produce through his di Bonaventura Pictures banner, with production looking to kick off in Australia this fall.

For many years after the 1955 film Marty won the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or and then went on to win the best picture Oscar, there was little additional evidence of a Cannes/Oscars connection. But in the last five years, both Parasite and — just months ago — Anora followed in Marty’s footsteps.
Indeed, within the last year, specifically, the relevance of one event to the other became harder than ever to dispute, as an unprecedented 31 Oscar noms were allocated to films that had played in Cannes — spread between Anora, The Apprentice, Emilia Pérez, Flow, The Girl with the Needle, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, The Seed of the Sacred Fig and The Substance — and 40 percent of the eventual Oscar winners traced back to the fest, including Anora (best picture, director, actress, original screenplay and film editing), Emilia Pérez (original song), Flow (animated feature) and The Substance...

Heading into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Jonathan Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers runs are absolute must-reads. Both series culminated with the Secret Wars event, and it's been rumoured that the writer's work is heavily inspiring Marvel Studios.
Hickman came up with the idea of Incursions; when the Beyonders decided to kill the universe, they destroyed an Earth and caused a cascading series of "Incursion Events" which led to countless worlds colliding. When that happened, both universes would be destroyed, and the only way to delay the inevitable was for the denizens of one Earth to destroy the other.
Eventually, it came down to Earth-616 and Earth-1610 (the Ultimate Universe), leading us straight into Secret Wars. Hickman's run was full of incredible moments and mind-bending ideas—don't even get us started on the Builders; they could carry a film of their own—and we've now singled out half...

With Thunderbolts, Marvel is on the comeback.
The new movie from Jake Schreier (Beef) has garnered some of the best reviews for a Marvel movie since Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, signaling a modest return to form for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after recent misfires like Captan America: Brave New World, The Marvels, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The expectation is that Thunderbolts, with its cast led by Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Sebastian Stan, will dominate the box office this weekend, and — at the very least — reinvigorate the MCU fanbase before The Fantastic Four: First Steps kick starts a new Marvel franchise in July. However, as with any Marvel movie, there’s also the potential for Thunderbolts to factor into next year’s Oscars race. While the movie is unlikely to garner recognition for its above-the-line contributors, it could find itself competitive in several craft categories — especially if...

Recently, the Scottish government moved to include transgender people under its umbrella of same-sex protections. In response, the anti-trans advocacy group For Women Scotland challenged the moved, with some funding from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who has become one of the leading anti-trans voices in the world over the past several years. The challenged worked, and the U.K. Supreme Court ruled that trans women are not legally women. In an example of what actor Pedro Pascal called "heinous loser behavior," Rowling posted a picture of herself smoking a cigar on her superyacht to celebrate.
In response, more than 400 professionals from the U.K.'s film and television industry have signed an open letter in support of trans rights, according to The A.V. Club. Among the signatories are several actors who have worked in the Harry Potter universe, including Katie Leung (Cho Chang in the movies), Eddie Redmayne (who...

Of the plethora of Star Wars projects that are in development at Disney, the only one that we know for sure that’s coming out next year is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which has a release date of May 22, 2026. Featuring Pedro Pascal reprising his role as the titular Mando from the beloved series, the film is set at some point between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and will once again see him and Grogu go on what Pascal calls "one of the best adventures ever made."
Appearing on the red carpet at Star Wars Celebration Japan recently, Pascal was approached by the good folks at IMDb, and discussed a little of what's to come in The Mandalorian & Grogu. He had high praise for both the sets and creator/director Jon Favreau, noting that "the series alone had some of the most incredible sets that I've ever seen in my life,...
