American Beauty (1999)
This won Best Picture!!???
This movie was horrible! Every second that went by was awful. From Kevin Spacey masturbating in the shower to the strict father who we discovered was gay. Sure, it had its good moments but even the worst of movies do. I make it a point not to watch Academy Awards shows because it seems like the worst movies are always winning. There was a dim ray of hope when The Sixth Sense almost won, but of course it went to this movie!!! I admit Gladiator was a good pick, but it's a first. So, I guess if you have two hours to waste and there is ABSOLUTELY nothing on, you MIGHT want to check out this movie.
Shrek (2001)
Definitely a masterpiece...
Shrek not only was very well animated and had a great plot, but also had amazing voice talents. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow really brought this movie to life. Definitely the best digitally animated film yet. I've seen this movie four times, and i'm still not sick of it. I work at a movie theater and everyone there has seen it more than once and loved it too. If you haven't seen this film yet, you're really missing out. It's spectacular!
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000)
The Best Of CBS!
This fall, since the hit summer show, "Survivor", CBS, which before this did not have as high of ratings as CBS would have liked. That show pulled them out of the water, then shot them into the sky. This fall, they got the Divine Miss M to do her 1/2 hour sit-com, "Bette", and Christine Brananski (from "Cybill") to do "Welcome to New York". Two great comedies. Also, "Raymond", "King of Queens", and "Becker". Then they pulled up the now highest-rated comedy of the new fall season; "Yes, Dear". But, perhaps their best new addition is "C.S.I." ("Crime Scene Investigation") My favorite show on television is "The X-Files". So I like these FBI/Cop shows. The 60 minute series "CSI" follows a team of forensic investigators who look for every possible clue in solving cases. Now, I have seen some amazing shows lately, but this one takes the cake! It almost ranks higher than "X-Files". Now the top rated Drama of the Fall Season, "C.S.I.", I hope will last a long time. Catch "C.S.I." Friday nights at 8:00mt time. 11/10!!! 6 out of 5 stars!!
What Lies Beneath (2000)
Better than the SIXTH SENSE!!!
I have never seen a better ghost movie. When I first got into the theatre, I thought it was gonna be some love affair movie with barely any ghostly potential. Boy was I wrong. There's barely any love affiar stuff, it's mainly about the ghost. I jumped at least 30 times and for basically the first time, a movie scared me. This was scarier than the Exorcist. I loved this movie more than any other horror movie I have ever seen. 11/10!!!!
The Green Mile (1999)
WAY better than American Beauty... a MASTERPIECE!
I can't believe AMERICAN BEAUTY won best picture competing with this masterpiece. I mean, I saw AMERICAN BEAUTY and it was actually REALLY stupid. If I was rating AMERICAN BEAUTY, it would be a 1 out of 10. But, THE GREEN MILE is the best film with Tom Hanks in it. Even better than SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. I give it 10 out of 10! Make sure you see this movie!
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
WOW!!
This was definately the best drama/horror movie ever. It is soooooo creepy because there actually was a Hannibal Lecter. I first saw this not very long ago, and then, just days later I heard about the prequel, HANNIBAL. I cannot wait!!! I'm gonna see it opening night. Definately a classic 6 out of 5 stars ******
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
I hate musicals...
Fortunately, I can make an acception. This was the most delightful film I have seen in years. I watched it in my Journalism class to do a critique paper. I of course gave it an A+ ***** out of ***** stars! I am planning on buying it on DVD very soon. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
Survivor (2000)
Pure genius!
I have never seen a game show like this. I have never missed an episode and can't even wait for SURVIVOR II. I'm willing to bet that the SURVIVOR series will end up with six or seven SURVIVOR seasons. And this show will sure help pull CBS out of its low ratings. I love this show and just to compare and contrast, BIG BROTHER doesn't even compare! So anyways, don't miss this great show, Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS!
Scary Movie (2000)
Raunchy Movie (more adequate title) WORSE THAN AMERICAN PIE!!!
If you go to see this movie, here's a few things i recommend: First off, do not see this with a family member or girlfriend, It is DEFINATELY NOT a date movie. Also, bring a barf bag because there are a few male nudity scenes that are pretty disgusting. One involving an extremely butch woman gym teacher. Lastly, make sure you have seen SCREAM, SCREAM 2, SCREAM 3, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, THE MATRIX, THE SIXTH SENSE, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, and a bunch of other modern horror flicks. Although this movie was the most disgusting piece of garbage i have ever seen in my life, I am ashamed to say I liked it and laughed, a lot! It is a side-splitting comedy if you've seen all the actual horror films spoofed. If you haven't seen those movies, you will not laugh very much. So, even though I hated the raunchy aspect, i loved the movie. 4 out of 5 stars ****.
Very Bad Things (1998)
Very Bad Movie?
This movie had a slow beginning. Then, it started to get better. Towards the middle of the movie, i was laughing and smiling. But, just as things couldn't possibly have gotten any worse, they did. Some of the characters that died had no need to be killed. And the end scene after the car crash was pretty trashy too. The very last scene is Cameron Diaz falling over in the road screaming like a mental person. This to me, made me want to throw up. If it wasn't for the okay middle part of the movie, i would never have continued watching it. If you want to watch this movie, just watch it to say you have seen it. I has almost no value and is plain sickening. Plus, why on earth would the guy, before the car crash be thinking about that stupid 'little tree' metaphor? It made no sense to me. In summary, 2 out of 5 stars. **.
Boys and Girls (2000)
Never, ever see this horrible movie.
Not only was this movie boring, the trailers on TV don't even explain what it is. The trailers show it being like a PG-13 version of American Pie (when it shows Jason Biggs with 4 women at once). It looked like it would be hilarious. What you actually get is a very horribly written teen love story. It was simply pathetic. The very few laughs there are come from Jason Biggs and he is only in about 1/8 of the movie. Whatever you do, unless you have seven bucks to just WASTE, don't bother with this film.
Scream 2 (1997)
Not as bad as everyone says.
I hate all the crap this movie gets. Everyone says, "Scream 1 and 3 were good, but 2 sucked". This is not true. I actually enjoyed this movie. I guessed who the killer was. I didn't know the connection it reveals to the first movie, but i figured out who him/her/them were. Everyone said it was impossible to guess, but it really wasn't. I agree that it wasn't AS good as 1 and 3, but it wasn't bad. It was better than the sequel to I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER at least.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
Yeuch!
This movie was not only pathetic and boring, it's title doesn't make since. The original movie "I know what you did last summer" took place in 1997. The new one takes place in 1998 and is called "I still know what you did LAST summer" I have a problem with this because it wasn't last summer, it was like two summers ago, so the title is stupid. They should of stuck with their original idea of, "I Still Know..." It would've been a much better title. Then there's the pathetic plot. Which I won't spoil even though there's not much TO spoil. Only watch this movie if you're extremely bored and have nothing better to do.
The Langoliers (1995)
One of the best Stephen King movies ever! I can't wait to read the book!
When I first saw this movie, I was only 12, so I thought it was boring and dull. But just recently I borrowed the DVD from a friend and realized just how well of a job Stephen King had done on this. In most time travel type of movies, there are tons of mistakes. This one only had very few. Good special effects for 1995 too! Also, it kind of gives a creepy twist on time travel. When the technology for real time travel occurs, count me out.
Olive, the Other Reindeer (1999)
GREAT FUN!
I loved this animated special on the FOX network. And Drew Barrymore just brought the main character to life. It's about a dog (Barrymore) who thinks she is a reindeer and goes on a quest to help Santa after one of the other reindeer can't. With the help of a little penguin named Martini, they accomplish their task while dodging the evil mailman who wants to stop Christmas. I hope this comes to video and DVD. I think it will be another instant classic like "How the Grinch Stole X-Mas" and "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer". 5 out of 5 stars! So if it is aired next Christmas, DON'T MISS IT!
Big Daddy (1999)
Superb!
Well, Adam Sandler has done it again. I give it five out of five stars. Excellent in every way. It was kind of like "The Wedding Singer" in the romance way, but in any other way it was completely different. I loved it!
Charmed (1998)
This show is "charmed" with excellence!
I love this show! I first watched the second episode with the warlock that tried to kill Pheobe. That episode was okay, but as I continued watching, the series is getting better and better. I have to admit that I love the X-Files, but this ranks up there! I hope this show isn't cut like some of the WB's other failures have. I think this show will be a success!
So Weird (1999)
This show is so weird...
When I first saw this show, I thought that it would simply be a kiddie version of "The X-Files". But, I was wrong, this show is good family fun, and entertaining. Although it doesn't compare to X-Files, it's still watchable. I would give it 8 out of 10 stars.
The X Files (1993)
SUPERB!
This tv show is the best show ever put on the air. I am a dedicated xphile. I've seen every episode and love every one of them. Especially Triangle and Bad Blood. Anyway, this show and its movies, I hope, will continue on for a long time.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
The Night I Wish Would Have Really Happened While Watching This Terrible Movie
This movie quite possibly was in fact, the worst movie ever made. And with that bouncy theme song for the Silver Shamrock commercial just made me wish that really did happen at that moment. Anyone who is going to miss one Halloween, make it this one.
