The Cleaning Lady will remain on call at Fox.
The network has renewed its drama series for a third season. The pickup for the series, produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, comes seven weeks after The Cleaning Lady wrapped its 12-episode second season.
Season three will also bring a new co-showrunner to The Cleaning Lady. Jeannine Renshaw (In the Dark, Good Girls) has joined the series and will serve as co-showrunner alongside Miranda Kwok, who developed the show. Renshaw steps in for Melissa Clark, who is departing to focus on development under her overall deal at Warner Bros.
“After two heart-pounding seasons, we’re thrilled with how audiences have latched on to this incredible story,” Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said in a statement. “The cast, led by the incomparable Élodie Yung, along with our brilliant creative team and our partners at Warner Bros. In The Dark will end after its upcoming fourth season on the CW. Season 4 is slated to premiere June 6.
The drama series, from CBS Studios, Warner Bros. TV and Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films, was on the bubble, but had been boosted by streaming. In The Dark is written by Corinne Kingsbury and directed by Michael Showalter. It had debuted as a mid-season entry during the 2018–19 television season, and aired during the late spring/early summer in 2020. Its third season ended on October 6, 2021.
The series stars Perry Mattfeld as Murphy Mason, Brooke Markham as Jess Damon, Casey Deidrick as Max Parish, Keston John as Darnell James, Morgan Krantz as Felix Bell, Theodore Bhat as Josh and Matt Murray as Gene Clemens.
In the first three seasons, Murphy Mason (Mattfeld) had gone from a lazy receptionist to a drunken vigilante detective to a drug front proprietor, and then, a woman-on-the-run.

Taran Killam (Single Parents) is set as a lead opposite Elizabeth Hurley and Hannah Simone in CBS comedy pilot Welcome To Georgia, from Fam and In the Dark creator Corinne Kingsbury, Spider-Man: Homecoming writers John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein, Trill TV, Kapital Entertainment and CBS Studios.
Written by Kingsbury, Daley and Goldstein, the semi-autobiographical comedy is about a daughter and her mom. Killam will play Josh, Penelope’s (Simone) husband, father to their toddler son, Levi, and an airline pilot who loves his job. Josh is a bit more tolerant of Penelope’s mother, Georgia (Hurley), and tends to cut her more slack.

As someone who has fond memories of gathering with the family for "event TV" nights such as NBC's epic Thursday night comedy lineup from the early 2010s, it's been a real treat to watch the horror homages of Riverdale and the supernatural mysteries of Nancy Drew back to back on Wednesday nights, and I'm thrilled that both series have been renewed by The CW for the 2021-2022 season:

The young-skewing network has ordered up The Flash (Season 8), Riverdale (Season 6), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Season 7), All American (Season 4), Charmed (Season 4), Legacies (Season 4), In the Dark (Season 4), Roswell, New Mexico (Season 4), Batwoman (Season 3) Nancy Drew (Season 3), and Dynasty (Season 5).
The network is also bringing Black Lightning and Supergirl to an end this season, with the former set to return next week and the latter set to return later in the season.

While the network has not picked up the new Arrowverse series for a second season, it is thought to be a slam-dunk, but the network still wants to wait and see how it performs in its highly-promoted series premiere.

The CW has seen enough from its “Walker, Texas Ranger” reboot starring Jared Padalecki, renewing the freshman drama for next season after only two episodes.
“Walker,” a new version of the Chuck Norris-led drama that aired for eight seasons in the 1990s, was the network’s most-watched series premiere in five years. “Walker” was among 12 series to get picked up for next season by the network. Additionally, both “Walker” and the upcoming “Superman & Lois” were given more episodes this season.
The other renewals are: “All American,” “Batwoman,” “The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “In the Dark,” “Charmed,” “Legacies,” “Nancy Drew,” “Riverdale,” “Dynasty” and “Roswell.”
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing production issues it caused, The CW did not formally begin in its 2020-2021 TV season until last month. Along with “Superman & Lois,” the network has upcoming premieres of “Republic of Sarah” and “Kung Fu” set for later this year.

In the fifth episode of Showtime’s “Your Honor,” Judge Michael Desiato (Bryan Cranston) finds his family dog unresponsive in his home and rushes him to the vet, telling them to do whatever they have to to save him. It is a moment of selflessness, serving to remind the audience that he has redeeming qualities, and is a good person at heart, despite the fact that for the last four episodes he has gone so far to cover up a hit-and-run his son committed that another teenager took the fall and his family has been destroyed because of it.

When Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios’ $1 billion output deal with Netflix for CW content ended in 2019, the studios started shopping their CW series to streamers individually.
Of the 2019 batch, Wbtv’s Batwoman and Katy Keene went to sibling HBO Max, while CBS Studios announced a deal for Nancy Drew with its sibling CBS All Access. But in May 2020, when Nancy Drew was to make its full-season SVOD debut, it did it on HBO Max as part of the streamer’s launch slate.
This season’s new CW series from CBS Studios, Walker and The Republic of Sarah, also will be headed to HBO Max once their freshman runs on the network end, I have learned.
“At the moment, through studio arrangements, they will be taking the out-of-season runs for the new series,” the CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz said of HBO Max.

Opting for a pandemic-proof fall lineup of mostly scripted acquisitions and alternative fare, the CW will launch its 2020-21 season starting next week. That makes for a compact regular season, a late spring “midseason”, a summer featuring a record number of scripted originals and a likely stable 2021-22 schedule with virtually all established CW series returning, led by hits like The Flash and Riverdale, joined by 3-4 new series.
“Right now, we’re probably going to stay the status quo down the line with everything we have because a) they’re working and b) I’d rather have a known quantity on the air than an unknown quantity,” the CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz said about the network’s current plans for next season in a fluid situation because of the pandemic.

It’s both cynical and mostly accurate to observe that if you want to tell a story of disability or physical/mental impairment on the big or small screen, your chances are improved if there’s a mystery involved. It’s a format that has yielded stone-cold classics (BBC’s The Singing Detective), negligible duds (The CW’s In the Dark) and everything in-between, the spoonful of genre sugar that gives storytellers a structure and marketing executives a selling point.

The CW has announced premiere dates for its new season next January, including Javicia Leslie’s debut as “Batwoman” and the premiere of new series “Superman & Lois” and “Walker.”

“Batwoman” will be the first of the network’s regular scripted series to return on Jan. 17, followed by “All American,” “Riverdale” and “Nancy Drew” and “Legacies” that week as well. Jared Padalecki’s “Walker, Texas Ranger” reboot premieres Thursday, Jan. 21 ahead of “Legacies.”

Apple has ordered “High Desert,” a half-hour comedy series starring Patricia Arquette that will be directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller.
The news serves as a reunion for Arquette and Stiller who previously worked together on the 2018 limited Showtime series “Escape at Dannemora.” Arquette starred in the series which Ben Stiller directed and executive produced. Stiller will direct the first episode of “High Desert.”
“High Desert” follows Peggy (Arquette), a former addict, who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator. Apple did not provide a release date for “High Desert.”
The series is created and written by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford (“Miss Congeniality” films) and Jennifer Hoppe, who will also serve as executive producers alongside Arquette and Stiller.

Nielsen today added a subscription streaming viewership chart to its weekly set of rankings for television broadcasts and video games, with Netflix dominating the first edition.
Only Netflix and Amazon are included thus far, and the rankings are only of U.S. viewing through a television, which is a minority of the total viewership picture.
The Umbrella Academy was the clear winner for the week of August 3 to August 9, with its 20 total episodes racking up more than 3 billion minutes of viewing. The show’s second season debuted July 31.
The No. 2 title, Shameless, which had a new season added to Netflix, drew 1.125 billion minutes of viewing, Nielsen said.
While Umbrella is a Netflix original, the rest of the chart consists of shows that premiered on other networks. Two of the shows are from Showtime, with Dexter joining Shameless, while the CW accounted for two others, Supernatural and In the Dark.

Nielsen has published its first weekly top 10 shows on streaming list, and there are no surprises as to the kinds of titles at the top of the pile.
Long-running shows like “The Office,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “NCIS” are all present, however, the big surprise is that they are all quite some distance behind “The Umbrella Academy” in the number one slot.
Nielsen’s ranking is based on the amount of minutes consumers who have access to platforms are streaming the particular content during the week which is being measured. So far, the trusted TV measurement company is only factoring in Netflix and Amazon to its list.
According to Nielsen, “The Umbrella Academy” accrued almost three times the number of viewing minutes than its closest competitor in Showtime’s “Shameless.” After “Shameless,” the competition becomes a lot tighter, with “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Office” neck and neck in third and fourth place respectively.

Though far from the busiest week in terms of fresh additions on Netflix, the streaming site still managed to add 13 new movies, 10 new TV shows and even a new stand-up special to its library over the past 7 days, bringing with it a few highlights that viewers have been digging.
On the movies front, Fatal Affair has rocketed to the top of the Netflix charts, currently sitting as the most popular film on the platform. The thriller might be receiving brutal reviews from critics, but that’s certainly not hurting its reputation with subscribers.
Elsewhere, Pride & Prejudice and The Notebook have been keeping fans of romance busy, with both dramas being firmly established favorites of the genre that hold up well even so long after their initial release.
But perhaps the most notable new addition this week is Cursed, the fantasy series starring Katherine Langford, who headlines a female-driven take...
