Breakout star Griff performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2021, held live in Budapest, Hungary, after the ceremony went virtual last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nominated for both best new and best push following her Brit Award win earlier this year, the singer-songwriter performed "One Night" live at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna.
Griff performed along with what appears to be a shadow-like version of herself (signature bubble ponytail and all) dressed in all black and covered in mirrored mosaics that seemed to copy her every move. It's not the first time Griff has performed with a shadow, though: she recently performed the track at BBC Radio 1's Out Out Live back in October and, we must admit, the shadow stole the show. The performance showed off Griff's flowing dress, her creativity, and her impressive vocal range, and we're looking forward to seeing what the young artist does (and wears) next.

“Tami and I connected immediately. Even when I didn’t have a technical word for what I was looking for, she understood. For example, so much takes place in one motel room, and I didn’t want it to feel like a play; I wanted it to feel light and with an energy that matches the performances. And for me, color is a great way to represent Black people. In our sordid past as Americans, we still found a way to laugh and love, and color represents that vivaciousness. But I...

At the dawning of 2021, one of the first big new releases harkens back to a movie trope that goes back nearly eighty years, the “team-up picture”. Probably 1943 really, when Universal Studios had the idea to pair two of its big “monster” properties in Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman, which proved so successful that they added Dracula for their House Of flicks before sending them out to pasture after encountering comedians Abbott & Costello. The idea would resurface in the 60s as the Japanese giant “beasties” tangled in several films (even our King Kong dropped in for one). In between those series other genres gave it a try with Westerns and crime sagas, low-cost since they’re historical figures. Most recently the franchises of Marvel and DC have converged for The Avengers (four so far) and Justice League. So, why not another “real-life re-uniting”? How about a fictional “get together” of four African American icons?...

Earning two Oscar nominations today, for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture, Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi isn’t one to rest on his laurels. The singular writer/director has already completed production on his next feature, Next Goal Wins, with Thor: Love and Thunder also on the way.
“With the Thor film, I can’t share much, for obvious reasons. We’re going to be writing all the way up until we shoot, and then throughout the shoot. But with Next Goal Wins, it’s one of the happiest shoots I’ve ever been on. It’s a 99% Polynesian cast; Michael Fassbender is a comic revelation,” Waititi told Deadline today. “I think he should just stop doing dramas from now on because he’s so funny, and so good at improvising. To me, it was a real revelation.”
For Waititi, seeing Jojo Rabbit rack up six Oscar nominations today felt like a full-circle moment.

Even hard-to-please Marvel fans loved what Kiwi outsider Taika Waititi brought to Thor: Ragnarok—a joyously irreverent approach to the comic-book character, that married a keen eye for the absurd with an emotional and affectionate grounding. Waititi’s long-term admirers felt vindicated; the director of such wonderfully low-fi New Zealand-set gems as the literally batty 2014 vampire docu-comedy What We Do in the Shadows and 2016’s charming Hunt for the Wilderpeople, about a boy on the run with his foster father, proved that he could stamp his identity on a film costing $180m as easily as he could with one costing $1.8m. His latest, Jojo Rabbit, is an incredibly timely attempt to unpick the sudden rise of religious and racial intolerance across the globe, as seen through the eyes of a naïve young German boy.

Five celebrities have signed on to join Jennifer Lopez’s pay-it-forward Quibi series “Thanks a Million.”
From entertainment, there’s Kristen Bell, Karlie Kloss, and Tracy Morgan. From sports, there’s Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former baseball star Alex Rodriguez — the latter of whom is engaged to Lopez, who serves as executive producer.
Quibi previously announced that Lopez would be joined by nine other celebrities in the pay-it-forward series, which means four more public figures have yet to be announced.
According to Quibi’s description of the series, “In each episode, grateful public figures kickstart a chain of kindness by gifting $100,000 to an unsuspecting individual who has had a positive impact on their life. The recipient must then pay it forward by gifting half of that sum to someone else who has done the same, and the chain continues. Across ten episodes, $1,000,000 will be put in the hands of everyday people.

On the day Elvis Presley would have turned 84, NBC is marking the occasion by announcing performers for its “Elvis All-Star Tribute,” which will air on February 17 from 9-11 p.m. (Et/Pt).
A healthy mix of young stars and established names recreated the look and feel of the famed Elvis “’68 Comeback Special.” Complete with its “boxing ring without ropes” set on a Universal City soundstage, the special, hosted by Shelton, was taped last October before an invited audience. Ken Ehrlich produced and Don Was served as musical director.
With Ehrlich on board as producer for his own Aeg Ehrlich Ventures, the longtime Grammy guru leaned on his years of experience to match the right performer with the right song and come up with well-curated collaborations. Speaking to Variety, Ehrlich explains: “I was just listening to John Legend one day and thought, he’d be perfect for ‘A Little Less Conversation.

Since then, rather shockingly, given how longwinded storytellers on TV and in film are getting, all four of the new winners have been shorter than that... ...

Exclusive: Stalin’s Russia is set to be portrayed on the small screen after Episodes and Flack producer Hat Trick Productions optioned Simon Sebag Montefiore’s novel One Night in Winter.
The book tells the story of marriage, childhood, danger, and betrayal in Stalin’s Moscow during the bleak days after World War II.
The move is a major drama statement for Jimmy Mulville’s Hat Trick, which is best known for producing comedies, including Channel 4’s hit teen series Derry Girls, and panel shows such as Have I Got News For You. However, the company has produced scripted series such as Alison Brie-fronted Doctor Thorne, James Nesbitt’s ITV crime drama The Secret and Jed Mercurio’s medical drama Critical.
Inspired by a true story, the series is set in Moscow as the country celebrates its victory over the Nazis. However, on a nearby bridge, a teenage...

Some 11,000 international television executives, including between 3,000 and 4,000 buyers, will attend the Mip TV market in Cannes, which kicks off this weekend.
It’s expected to rain all week and there’s the inevitable French transport strike but the organizers hope that these will not put a dampener on the event, which is going through a number of changes to ensure its relevance in an ever-changing global TV market.
Although non-scripted formats and documentaries will dominate the weekend’s agenda, this year’s event will offer an even greater focus on high-end drama. Reed Midem is working closely with the inaugural Canneseries event to bring flashy premieres to the port city and has adapted its Mip Drama screenings to focus on projects that are at an even earlier stage than usually promoted at the market.
A number of titles including Sky Vision’s Finnish terror thriller Bullets, Wiedemann & Berg’s Bridge-esque...

To mark the release of Boy on 26th February, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on DVD.
Inspired by the Oscar nominated Two Cars, One Night, and directed by Taika Waititi, Boy is the hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age tale about heroes, magic and Michael Jackson. Set in 1984, on the rural East Coast of New Zealand, Boy is a dreamer who loves Michael Jackson.
Boy’s other hero, his father, Alamein, is the subject of Boy’s fantasies; he imagines him as a deep-sea diver, war hero and a close relation of Michael Jackson (he can even dance like him). In reality Alamein is an inept, wannabe gangster who has been in jail for robbery.
When Alamein returns home after seven years away, Boy is forced to confront the man he thought he remembered, find his own potential and learn to get along without the hero he had been hoping for.
