While viewers are yet to witness what turn this budding romance between friends will take in the forthcoming episodes, one element that has hooked their attention is the show’s unforgettable soundtrack. Cinema is full of classic stories, retold year after year in the traditional manner or reimagined by the daring ones. Whether it's adaptations of literary masterpieces, biopics, or other attempts to turn established archetypes on their heads, a spirit of rebellion is essential.
For lovers of the flair of Jane Austen's novels, Bridgerton is a real feast. London's high society and debutante balls all seem like a refuge for humble young ladies with dreams of marriage. In fact, just like in Austen's novels, revolutionaries still roam England during the Regency era.
In the Netflix series, this honorable role goes primarily to Eloise Bridgerton, the fifth child of the family, who never lets go of books and despises patriarchal foundations.
Claudia Jessie Shares Her Thoughts on a Queer Love Story for Eloise
We have yet to see Eloise's love story, as fans hope in season five – right after Benedict's.

Paramount Pictures has renewed its first look development deal with Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Productions for another three years.
The latest deal, to run through to Dec. 2026 and cover film development at Maximum Effort, extends an original first look agreement launched in 2021 and includes titles not yet announced. These include Starter Villain, with Jesse Andrews attached to adapt; an adaptation of the family book series Eloise, with partner MRC; and the original action comedy Gaslight Express, with Reynolds teaming up with Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Reynolds launched the banner in 2018 with Maximum Effort co-founder George Dewey and co-presidents Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau running day-to-day operations out of Los Angeles.
“The Paramount partnership feels like home to everyone at Maximum Effort so another three years was a no-brainer,” said Maximum Effort Co-Founder Ryan Reynolds. “We’ve loved working with Brian, Daria, Mikey and Marc and are 100 percent...

It's been nearly 60 years since Julie Andrews first sang about how the hills of Austria were alive with the sound of music, but "The Sound of Music" remains a beloved cinematic treasure. Vividly colorful, unabashedly musical, and anchored by Andrews' performance, the story of Maria the would-be nun, and her small army of new wards — the Von Trapp children — is still rewatched and referenced often across the world.
With more than half a century of retrospect, "The Sound of Music" has also become a bit of a historical document: much of the film's cast and crew has since passed away, with the exception of Andrews herself and five of the seven actors who embodied the Von Trapp kids. Heather Menzies (Louisa) and Charmian Carr (Liesl) have both passed away in recent years, as has Christopher Plummer, who embodied family patriarch...

During the 2022 Creative Arts and Primetime Emmys ceremonies, two vastly different age records were broken as the acting victors accepted their prizes. First, 28-year-old Lee Yoo-mi (“Squid Game”) supplanted Samira Wiley as the youngest recipient of either drama guest award, and then Jean Smart (70) improved upon her own oldest comedy actress winner record by clinching a second consecutive trophy for “Hacks.” With one age record having already been smashed at last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, five more are up for grabs heading into the big primetime show.
Firstly, congratulations are in order for newly crowned Best Drama Guest Actress champ Storm Reid (“The Last of Us”), who, at 20, went from being her category’s third youngest nominee to its youngest winner. In fact, she is the all-time youngest recipient of any guest acting Emmy, also taking that distinction from Lee, who in turn usurped Justin Timberlake. Two more “The Last of Us...

When the nominations for the 1959 Primetime Emmys were revealed, 13-year-old supporting candidate Johnny Crawford (“The Rifleman”) became the youngest male acting contender in TV academy history and then retained the title for the next six and a half decades. After so many years of his record appearing to be unbreakable, it was finally shattered this summer by Best Drama Guest Actor nominee Keivonn Montreal Woodard, who turned 10 this February. His historic bid for HBO’s “The Last of Us” makes him not only a credit to child actors but also to deaf performers, as no male one had ever earned Emmy recognition before.
Woodard appears in two first-season episodes of “The Last of Us” as Sam Burrell, a survivor of both leukemia and a pandemic-induced apocalypse who lives under the guardianship of his adult brother, Henry (Lamar Johnson). In his submitted episode, “Endure and Survive,” his comic book-loving character forms...

“Eloise,” the beloved children’s book about a mischievous young girl who lives on the “tippy-top floor” of New York City’s famed Plaza Hotel, is being adapted into a live-action movie.
Linda Woolverton is writing the movie for MRC Films, the independent studio behind “Knives Out” and “Mortal Engines.” MRC recently acquired film, television and stage rights for the series of leisurely reads written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight. Neither a director nor key cast members have been announced yet.
“I couldn’t be more excited and honored to adapt Kay Thompson’s delightful book and character for the screen with MRC Film,” Woolverton said. “I absolutely love Eloise for her mischievousness, her irreverence, her imagination and made-up words. Her playground, the Plaza Hotel, is an iconic symbol of all that’s wonderful about New York City.”

Sara Bareilles, Broadway’s Waitress composer and lyricist, will return to the starring role for a limited engagement in January, launching the hit musical production’s third year.
Though the Tony- and Grammy-nominated Bareilles wrote the show’s music, she did not originate the role of the pie-baking Jenna (that was Jessie Mueller), but Bareilles has taken the Waitress center stage at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for two previous and very popular stints. The first was in 2017, the second in January 2018.
For the third time around, Bareilles will be joined by Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter.
Bareilles and Creel will play the Diane Paulus-directed Waitress engagement from January 7 to February 3, 2019.

Breaking into a long-abandoned mental hospital proves to be a lousy idea (who would've guessed?) in Eloise, a deeply unpromising debut horror flick by visual-effects veteran Robert Legato. Chace Crawford and Eliza Dushku lead a quartet of actors whose midnight break-in (and it's a dark-and-stormy one, natch) somehow sends them careening back in time, interacting with a mad psychiatrist played by Robert Patrick. The cast's familiarity will do little to help this dud attract viewers, even on VOD.

Initially announced last February, New Line Cinema's in-the-works remake of the New Zealand horror comedy Housebound now has a screenwriter.
The Tracking Board reports that Christopher Borrelli has been hired to pen the remake of Gerard Johnstone's Housebound (which Lord of the Rings and Dead Alive filmmaker Peter Jackson was a big fan of). Borrelli's writing credits include Whisper, The Marine 2, Eloise, and The Vatican Tapes.
Johnstone is still attached as a producer for the remake, with Dave Neustadter and Walter Hamada supervising the project for New Line as it develops.

Another horror film is set in another insane asylum. This time, the film is titled Eloise. The film is from director Robert Legato and writer Christopher Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes). Eloise joins a long list of horror films set in mental health institutions, including: Session 9 (2001), Psych 9 (2010), Blackburn (2015), and dozens of others. This time, the film was shot in one of the largest institutions, the Eloise Insane Asylum. Involving a death certificate and a large inheritance, the film's first trailer shows four friends, attacked by the hospital's supernatural past. The film hosts a recognizable cast. Eliza Dushku and Robert Patrick both star in this 2017 release. Dushku has appeared in several horror films, such as the cannibal thriller Wrong Turn (2003) and Open Graves (2009), while Patrick has starred in the recent Hellions (2015). The film hosts a large cast, which also includes: Chace Crawford and Nicole Forester. Fans of horror can see this diverse cast in early.

Exclusive: In a pre-emptive mid-six- against seven-figure deal, Universal has acquired an untitled action comedy pitch for Chris Morgan Productions, I’ve learned. Matt Allen and Chris Borrelli will pen the script based on their pitch — whose logline is being kept tightly under wraps. However, I’m told by a person close to the project that it has the potential of becoming an action comedy tentpole. Both writers have a long relationship with Fast & Furious franchise writer Morgan. He’ll produce via his Universal-based banner.
