Adventure travel series Destination X has been officially picked up to series by NBC.
The show is expected to air on the network in 2025 and the U.S. version of the Belgian format will be produced by production company Twofour, which is also making a separate British version for the BBC.
The greenlight marks the latest stage for the format; last year, the BBC and NBCUniversal partnered to take the U.S and UK rights to the show, which comes from Belgian producer Geronimo and distributor Be-Entertainment.
The BBC greenlit its own version last year with Twofour producing.
NBC has now followed suit and officially ordered its own version; the show was previously only in development with the broadcast network.
It is a similar model employed on breakout mystery format The Traitors.
Destination X sees a group of contestants go on the road trip of a lifetime but they have no idea of their location.

It’s the reality TV show that has shaken up the game: when The Traitors arrived in the UK just before Christmas, for a show so at odds with the ‘season of good will’ it was a surprise hit, pulling in over three million viewers and sending social media into meme meltdown.
The show sees 22 contestants arrive at Andross Castle in Scotland to compete in a series of challenges which earn them a joint prize pot of up to £120,000. The twist is that three of the contestants are secretly designated ‘traitors’, and if the rest of the contestants (known as ‘the faithful’) don’t correctly identify them, the traitors steal all the prize money.
At night, the traitors can ‘murder’ one of the faithful, eliminating them from the game, and each evening the remaining contestants gather at the round table to discuss and then vote to ‘banish’ another player, only...

Fans of The Traitors are cancelling their January plans in their droves.
In December, the BBC game show became a breakout hit throughout its three weeks on the air.
The series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, saw 22 strangers play “the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust” at a Scottish Highlands castle in the hope of winning up to £120,000.
After the series, which is executive produced by Studio Lambert, came to a dramatic conclusion on 22 December, viewers were left wondering if the show would return for a second outing.
While the BBC has yet to officially say whether this will happen, fans are being given the perfect gift to tide them over until that announcement is inevitably made.
On Friday (13 January), the US version of the series became available to view as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.

The Traitors contestant Amanda Lovett has issued an apology after appearing on Gb News last week.
The 54-year-old appeared on the channel alongside her The Traitors co-star Kieran Tompsett, and posed for a photo with presenters Tatiana Sanchez and Calvin Robinson.
Many people criticised Lovett for posing with Robinson, who has previously been called out for his stance on LGBTQ+ issues.
“I just need to apologise to my new family,” Lovett wrote in her apology on Twitter. “I am so annoyed with my agent, I had no idea what the news channel was about.
“I’m absolutely disgusted to have sat next to a person that doesn’t believe in diversity, equality and being yourself. This will never happen again.”
The Independent has contacted Gb News for comment.
In November 2022, Robinson delivered a monologue on same-sex marriages, where he said: “To me, a marriage needs a bride and groom, anything else is not holy matrimony.

Long-running soap opera “EastEnders” and reality sensation “The Traitors” were the most streamed shows on BBC streamer iPlayer during the holiday period.
During the two-week period from Dec. 20 to Jan. 2, “EastEnders” pulled in 23.7 million streams, while the Studio Lambert-produced “The Traitors” drew 12.4 million to iPlayer. Next up was children’s program “Hey Duggee” with 10.2 million, fantasy drama “His Dark Materials” with 8.2 million and children’s show “Bluey” with 6.2 million.
The numbers for “The Traitors,” in particular, are impressive given the show — which is based on a Dutch format from broadcaster Rtl — wrapped its linear broadcast only on Dec. 22, meaning a substantial audience caught up with the series as a boxset on iPlayer. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the “Mafia”-style reality show, in which a group of “faithful” contestants have to find the “traitors” in their midst who are quietly killing them off, was one of Britain’s most talked-about programs of the year.

There’s something a bit magical about television on Christmas. Maybe it’s the cold weather driving everyone indoors. The gluttonous, slowly digesting roast dinners pinning everyone to the sofa. The intra-family arguments that need drowning out with noise. For whatever reason, Christmas always seems to be the time when most everyone agrees to convene around the TV screen and watch whatever’s on – an ingrained, sacred ritual somewhat befitting a religious holiday. I’m not sure Christmas TV has ever been less nourishing, however, than this year.
With a few notable exceptions, the UK’s 2022 Christmas TV line-up may have been the worst on record – it’s certainly the worst I can remember. There were a few highlights dotted around the festive period, of course, such as I Hate Suzie Too and a festive Motherland special. Children were well serviced with BBC One’s charming animation The Boy, the Mole,...

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is due for release next year – will it be the last time fans see Zoe Saldaña in the MCU?
The much-anticipated third instalment of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is due out next May.
It will wrap up the current team’s story, meaning that the film will presumably be the last time we see many of the franchise stars in their respective roles.
Alongside Saldaña as Gamora, Chris Pratt plays Star-Lord, Dave Bautista plays Drax the Destroyer, and Karen Gillian plays Nebula.
Saldaña, 44, has played the green-skinned character since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film in 2014. Gamora has became a fan-favourite, making numerous appearances in other MCU movies.
Most recently, however, Saldaña reprised her role as Neytiri opposite Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully in another hugely anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.

In September, it was announced that the show’s long awaited movie spin-off is in the works. Original stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong will return.
The hit NBC sitcom ran from 2009 to 2015. The series followed a group of adult students at a Colorado community college
Community starred McHale, Jeong, Pudi, Jacobs, Brie, Rash, Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
During a recent guest appearance on the Community recap podcast Six Seasons and a Podcast, Harmon revealed a few key details about the film.
Harmon – who is also the co-creator of the hit animated series Rick and Morty – ruled out the possibility that the film will include any paintball warfare.
He said: “It’s a lot easier for me to rule stuff out than tell you what we’re pursuing.

Despite all the buzz surrounding Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the film has failed to break into Netflix’s illustrious film club.
Rian Johnson’s sequel to his 2019 murder mystery film has proven to be a hit among audiences, with the film receiving mostly favourable reviews.
Glass Onion was released on Netflix on 23 December. It streamed 82.1 million hours in the first three days, the streaming service announced on Tuesday (27 December).
This figure makes Glass Onion the streaming giant’s sixth biggest film debut, narrowly missing out on a top five position.
The film follows behind Sandra Bullock’s 2021 film The Unforgivable (85.86 million hours) and The Gray Man – starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans – which streamed 88.55 million hours when it was released in July this year.
The Unforgivable and The Gray Man stand at Netflix’s number five and number four debuts, respectively.

The Traitors star Meryl Williams has said she is taunted by bullies when out in public.
Last week, Williams was crowned winner of the BBC One competition alongside fellow contestants Aaron Evans and Hannah Byschowski. The three split the £101,050 jackpot between them.
The 26-year-old is 4 ft and 2 inches tall and has achondroplasia.
Following her victory on The Traitors, Williams has described harrowing experiences that she has had to deal with on an everyday basis.
“Throughout school I was lucky and I was treated the same as everyone else, but in public I face discrimination on an everyday basis,” she told The Scottish Daily Express.
“There’s not enough awareness of my condition. I think people often see some sort of hilarity in it because often dwarfs are in pantomimes and because of the Oompa-Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
Williams continued: “A lot of people are taken aback. They point and laugh.

An old episode of Chuck Woolery’s dating show Love Connection has resurfaced, and people can’t get enough of the two contestants.
The hit dating show, which lasted 11 seasons beginning in 1983 and running until 1994, followed blindly matched couples on their first dates, who would later reveal their first impressions to host Woolery in front of a live audience.
A particular clip of 1994 contestants Robin Dimiceli and Curt Levey has made the rounds on TikTok, with people applauding Dimiceli for absolutely “roasting” Levey.
“I like women who are deep, and she just didn’t seem like a deep kinda person. She seemed more like the kind of woman who probably knows all the colours of lipstick, but couldn’t tell you who the Vice President of the United States was,” Levey told Woolery.
Offering her judgement of Levey from their first phone call, Dimiceli quipped: “I thought he had a monotone voice,...

It’s been another year of format fun in television, with Dutch mystery competition series The Traitors emerging as a new global hit, especially in the UK on the BBC, while the likes of Big Brother and Survivor have fronted a reboots commissioning revival that has divided entertainment producers, buyers and sellers. As the year comes to a close and the world heads into 2023 under threat of recession and belt-tightening, Deadline has placed six new formats that could help shape the genre in the spotlight. As is often the case, programs from the Netherlands dominate, with three on our list, while others hail from the UK and Canada.
