Riot grrrl greats Bratmobile officially returned to the stage after 20 years this weekend at the Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland (after making their unofficial return with a secret show in Los Angeles a few days before).
The Mosswood Meltdown set was punctuated by a special performance of the Runaways’ song, “Cherry Bomb,” which Bratmobile covered on their 1993 debut, Pottymouth. For the ecstatic closer, the band received an assist from the Linda Lindas, as well as the daughters of Bratmobile’s drummer Molly Neumann and keys player Audrey Mars (plus some...

Annie Wersching was an extremely prolific actor, appearing in dozens of hit shows over her career. Her most famous role, however, was for a video game. Wersching played Tess in the popular video game The Last of Us, which is now a successful HBO show. A lot is known about her career, but many don’t know anything about her personal life, including her husband and children.

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't see "The Stanford Prison Experiment" in theaters. Seriously. And, no, I'm not just saying that because I happen to know director Kyle Patrick Alvarez socially or that it's a Sundance Jury Award-winning movie or that it depicts one of the most shocking events to occur at one of America's greatest Universities over the past fifty years.* The real reason is that besides the questions it raises about the human condition and our ability to descend to abject cruelty, "Stanford" features a once in a life time cast that will dominate Hollywood for the next 15 to 20 years.* *It also has earned strong reviews to date including a 71 grade on Metacritic and 78% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on true events, the new drama chronicles the 1971 psychological experiment that found Stanford University students sorted into the roles of prison guard or a generic prisoner. In theory,...

Well this looks a little crazy as IFC has just premiered the first trailer and poster for the alternate universe film +1, which played the SXSW Film Festival back in March and centers on three college friends who go to the biggest party of the year only things take a strange turn when the power goes out and each begins seeing their night played back in front of them. There seems to be some decision the characters come to where they appear to believe that if time in the alternate reality catches up to their new reality then something bad may happen and the trailer seems to suggest one of them will makeout with themselves and others may hurt themselves. Then there's the poster, which seems to suggest an alien invasion and aliens have assumed the form of the central characters and the central characters alone, who are played by Rhys Wakefield...

We've been hearing rumors for awhile that Marvel would be cancelling their awesome animated series Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Today that rumor has been confirmed; the series is gone. It's a shame that this only got two seasons, as it was one of the best animated series on TV. The news was confirmed in a press release by Marvel that also revealed the show would be replaced by another Avengers series called Marvel's Avengers Assemble.
The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be renewed for the 3rd Season. Marvel Animation will present their newly developed series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in 2013.
The image above was released to promote the new series, which looks like it's going to fall more in line with Joss Whedon's Avengers film. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more Marvel characters introduced in the series though. We should get some more details at this year's Comic-Con.

When we heard that Kristen Bell would be co-hosting the Cmt Music Awards alongside Toby Keith, we hoped we'd get a chance to hear her sing a little country song. It's a little-known fact that Bell has some impressive pipes -- in fact, she began her career on Broadway.
Lucky for us, she did sing a few lines during the show, in an impromptu audition for Miranda Lambert's band, "Pistol Annies." She made up the song herself, of course -- though lines like "I got Pistol Annie tattooed on my fanny, I'm nice to men but I'm mean to my granny" would fit right in with Lambert's repertoire.
"In retrospect that last line did sound a little bit stalkery now that I'm hearing it out loud," she joked, "but I kind of think I nailed it. Miranda, if you could just call me or text me or let me know I'm in the band.

Disney Channel has announced a new live-action, multicamera series, "Dog With A Blog," starring -- you guessed it -- a dog. Adopted by his family in hopes of helping two feuding stepbrothers get along, the four-legged pup named Stan soon proves he has more to him than meets the eye: Stan can talk and write!
The show stars G. Hannelius ("Good Luck Charlie"), Blake Michael ("Lemonade Mouth"), Francesca Capaldi ("A.N.T. Farm"), Beth Littleford ("The Daily Show With Jon Stewart"), Regan Burns ("Wizards of Waverly Place") and Stephen Full ("I'm in the Band").
"With our track record of discovering young talent who are 'triple threats,' we launched a nationwide search," Adam Bonnett, senior vice president of Disney Channel, said. "And our reward is that we found the one dog who could talk, blog and do his own stunts. Working with kids and animals has never been more fun!

Disney has released this fun new trailer for Marvel Animation's upcoming series Ultimate Spider-Man. The new promo trailer is actually pretty awesome and gives us sense of how cool this series might be. It's going to have a lot of great action mixed with some crazy humor. This is one of those series I'm going to enjoy watching with my kids. There's a fun little surprise in the trailer showing Spider-Man wearing an Iron Man type suit, while fighting Iron Man.
Ultimate Spider-Man is set to debut on Disney Xd on April 1st, 2012. I really hope you enjoy the trailer below as much as I did. One of the things I like about what I see is how off the wall and different it is. From this trailer, what do you think the show's strengths and weaknesses are?

Let's start the weekly round-up with Grimm.
Grimm's ratings dropped a little this week, but the show still won the 18-49 demo in its timeslot, finishing ahead of CSI: NY, Fringe and Supernatural, and rising by a full frakking ratings point (1.8) after Chuck (0.8). Wake up, Chuck.
Hitfix visited the set in Portland recently and posted a lengthy report. Here is a snippet:
Sasha Roiz on how his character will develop later in the series: "I’m not a Grimm descendent, but I'm a descendent of a long line that dates back just as Grimm does and we have a bit of a history and a past, so my line is a royal line and that will slowly unfold throughout the series."Collider has a longer interview with Sasha and Reggie Lee (more at the link):
It’s nice to see your character – like the main character – has the duality.

Rock band Train becomes the latest musical group to launch their own wine line. Their first product is the "Drops of Jupiter" 2009 Petit Syrah, made as a collaboration with Concannon Vineyard. Their company is called the "Save Me San Francisco Wine Co."
"My name is Jimmy Stafford. I'm in the band Train and I happen to like wine. I don't have a particular favorite wine, but I'll never turn down a great Petite Sirah. That is why we created this fruit-forward, instantly lovable red. The minute you uncork the bottle, the boysenberry fruit leaps from your glass. With soft, supple tannins, this wine is great with food or without. And I like it at cellar temperatures to allow the flavors to evolve in the glass," the band's guitarist wrote.
A portion of the wine's sales will benefit Family House, an organization that provides temporary housing for seriously ill children. ...

Yesterday morning we brought you first word on Some Guy Who Kills People, a new film being executive produced by horror legend John Landis (An American Werewolf in London). Today we exclusively learned that Jack Perez (Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, Wild Things 2) will be getting behind the camera to bring Ryan Levin's ("Scrubs", I'm In The Band, The Fifth -- a short film that screened at over 60 film festivals worldwide, winning Best Short Film at Fantasia Fest, Fantastic Fest, Dead by Dawn and Dragon*Con) screenplay to life. In addition, we got more details, which sound pretty kickass: "The film is a horror-comedy about a lonely, small-town loser who sets out to kill each of the men he deems responsible for his miserable life." Shooting begins mid-January. Michael Wormser & Micah Goldman (Penance, Fox pilot "Tease") and Ryan Levin all produce.
