The new iteration of “The Office” currently in development has started to flesh out its cast.
Variety has confirmed with sources that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson are attached to the project, which remain in development at Universal Television. They would occupy two roles in what would be an ensemble cast, like the original versions of the show.
Reps for Utv declined to comment.
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are co-creating the new series. It has previously been reported that it is not a reboot of “The Office” but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.
Gleeson has recently starred in shows such as “Alice & Jack,” “The Patient,” “Frank of Ireland,” and “Run.” He is perhaps best known for his role as General Hux in the new “Star Wars” film trilogy. He has also starred in films such as “Frank,...

Brendan Gleeson is a beloved actor, but you might have heard of some of his sons, too. Brendan - who was nominated for best actor at the 2023 Oscars for his performance in "The Banshees of Inisherin," though he lost to Brendan Fraser - is dad to Domhnall, Brian, Rory, and Fergus. And all of them are in the entertainment industry!
His eldest, Domhnall, has an impressive acting résumé of his own. Up next, he'll star in HBO's "White House Plumbers" as an attorney for President Richard Nixon alongside Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, and Lena Headey. In 2022, he starred on "The Patient" as food-obsessed serial killer Sam Fortner alongside Steve Carrell. The 39-year-old has been making waves in Hollywood for a while, playing Ron Weasley's older brother Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter movies alongside his father, who portrayed Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. At first, FX’s new drama “The Patient” is by and large a two-hander centered on psychologist Alan Strauss (Steve Carell) and the serial-killing patient, Sam Fortner (Domhnall Gleeson), who abducts him in a desperate attempt to stop himself from murdering again. But as the taut thriller series unfolds, it also expands, introducing a handful of key players beyond the walls of Alan’s prison/Sam’s basement, be it through memory, imagination, or Sam’s constantly tense trips back to the outside world.
If you’re wondering who’s who in “The Patient” cast, we’ve got you covered with a comprehensive roundup of the series’ stars — and where you’ve seen them before.

Sharon Horgan’s dark comedy for Apple TV+ has a name – “Bad Sisters.”
The series, described as a comedy and thriller, follows the lives of the Garvey sisters, who are bound together by the premature death of their parents and a promise to always protect one another, according to a logline from the streamer. And playing those sisters alongside Horgan are Eve Hewson, Anne-Marie Duff (“Suffragette,” “The Salisbury Poisonings”), Eva Birthistle (“Brooklyn,” “The Last Kingdom”) and Sarah Greene (“Frank of Ireland,” “Dublin Murders”).
“Bad Sisters” is the first project out of Horgan’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ and her Merman production company.
Horgan is executive producer of “Shining Vale” on Starz, which is currently airing its first season, and whose cast features Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino. She was also behind Sarah Jessica Parker’s “Divorce” on HBO, and starred in and wrote/executive produced “Catastrophe,” which streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Domhnall Gleeson will star opposite Steve Carell in the upcoming FX limited series “The Patient.”
In addition, Linda Emond, Laura Niemi, and Andrew Leeds have also joined the show’s cast. Chris Long has come onboard as executive producer and will also direct the first two episodes. Kevin Bray and Gwyneth Horder-Payton will also direct episodes of the 10-episode series.
In the half-hour series, a psychotherapist (Carell) finds himself held prisoner by a serial killer (Gleeson) with an unusual request: curb his homicidal urges. But unwinding the mind of this man while also dealing with the waves of his own repressed troubles creates a journey perhaps as treacherous as his captivity.
“The Patient” was originally ordered to series at FX in October. Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg will write and executive produce the series, with Carell executive producing in addition to starring. Caroline Moore and Victor Hsu will also executive produce along with Long.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2021 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 68 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 43 contenders from last year. The last time there were less than 100 entrants of this type was in 2016, when 96 series vied for bids. Since 2017, voters have not had to limit their choices to just 10 shows. The TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Absent from the list below is reigning Best Comedy Series winner “Schitt’s Creek,” which ended its six-season run last April. Only one of its seven rivals in that race — “The Kominsky Method” — aired episodes during the eligibility period of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The other six nominees from last year do not appear on this year’s ballot, with “The Good Place” having signed off in January 2020 after four seasons.

‘Star Wars’ star Domhnall Gleeson has been tapped to join the limited series from HBO on the Watergate scandal ‘The White House Plumbers.’
Gleeson is said to be taking on the role of a key character, John Dean, the brilliant, ambitious and youthful White House Counsel that ultimately orchestrates the illegal cover-up that brought down Nixon and his administration. He joins the previously announced Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux.
The five-part series tells the story of how President Richard Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux), accidentally toppled the presidency they were zealously trying to protect.
Also in news – Mark Rylance & Simon Pegg to star in Channel 4 series ‘The Undeclared War’

Are you interested in a comedy series that’s a cross between Community and Peep Show? Then you need to check out Amazon’s Frank of Ireland.
“Nearly every beloved comedy you regularly revisit on a Netflix binge has a less assured start, where it’s plainly apparent that the writers and performers are still trying to define the characters, and the jokes never quite land in the way they so regularly do later on in their runs. Amazon’s Frank of Ireland is the rare debut season where you can tell that future seasons will well and truly knock it out of the park…”

Amazon’s Frank of Ireland isn’t a particularly brainy comedy, yet it’s a half-hour that left me trying to do math.
In a six-episode season, how many episodes need to have potential — without any ever succeeding wholly — to suggest a show has potential overall? How many jokes in an otherwise inconsistent episode need to somewhat land in order for that episode to be considered as having potential? How are those numbers impacted if the second half of a short season might be more potential-filled than the first?
With the exception of the beloved educational format Square One Television, nobody ...

Stop me when you’ve heard this one before: a hapless adult man living with his mother refuses to grow up or change, but don’t worry. His arrested development might be endlessly annoying, but that’s basically the point — and when push comes to shove, everyone surrounding him finds him too charming to resist, anyway.
Therein lies the premise of “Frank of Ireland,” an uninspired take on one of the oldest stories in the book from Michael Moloney and brothers Brian and Domhnall Gleeson. Co-produced by Amazon and Channel 4, the six-episode series follows aimless layabout Frank (Brian Gleeson) and his servile best friend Doofus (Domhnall Gleeson) as they bumble around their small town, causing grief and havoc everywhere they go. While Doofus occasionally shows some signs of a conscience to make up for his lack of spine, Frank seems to lack a moral compass entirely, instead twisting every...

And just like that – here comes spring. Amazon Prime‘s list of new releases for April 2021 isn’t as cheery as one would expect from the sunny season. But perhaps that’s by design – you should be outside anyway!
Amazon’s most prominent original series for April 2021 is undoubtedly Them from multi-hyphenate Lena Waithe. This horror anthology’s first season, subtitled “Covenant”, will center on a Black family in the 1950s who move from North Carolina to a white neighborhood in Los Angeles. It premieres on April 9. Given its name and premise, Them is drawing some (largely joke-y) comparisons to Jordan Peele’s Us on social media. But hey, the world could always use some more Us.

Run, a 7-episode half-hour HBO comedic thriller series, might just prove to be the kind of raucously random flight of fancy—with just enough of a cynical edge— that the world could use right now.
Vicky Jones created the series. A script editor for Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Fleabag and Crashing, Jones also serves as writer and executive producer here. Of course, Waller-Bridge herself is onboard as an executive producer, and even fields an eccentric recurring role.
Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) and Merritt Wever (Unbelievable) co-star on the series as old college sweethearts who—motivated by mysterious and quickly escalating circumstances—embark on an insane adventure.
