Exclusive: Marking the first major role to be cast in the upcoming sequel, Dan Stevens is set to lead the next installment of Legendary’s Monsterverse film franchise, a follow-up to last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong. Adam Wingard, who helmed the first film, is returning to direct, with production is slated to begin this summer in Australia.
Per usual, plot details are being kept under wraps, other than following the film’s larger-than-life monsters and then preparing for their next battle against each other. Godzilla vs. Kong helped get audiences back in theaters as it became the second film of the Covid era to cross the 100 million mark at the domestic box office en route to 468 million globally. The number is impressive as it also bowed day-and-date on HBO Max.

• With a title like The Prince, die-hard Bruce Willis fans might worry that he’s decided to go from blue collar to blue blood. Thankfully, it’s a little misleading. Armenian director Sarik Andreasyan (American Heist) will tell the story of a retired Las Vegas mobster who must return to the city when he discovers that his teenage daughter is missing. Willis will play the man who has been cautiously awaiting the return of the mob enforcer. Filming will begin in New Orleans in October. Willis’s next scheduled release is Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which hits theaters Aug.

2010′s “Tron: Legacy” featured state-of-the-art special effects and groovy visuals, and that was apparently enough for the film to churn out $400 million in worldwide box office. God knows it didn’t have much of a story, unless you were just really, really nostalgic for the ’80s original. But hey, it did make $400 million from a $170 million production budget, so it makes sense for Disney to be going ahead on a sequel. The studio has now hired writer Jesse Wigutow to do the honors. According to Imdb.com, Wigutow counts the 2003 Michael Douglas drama “It Runs in the Family” and the 2006 TV movie “The Prince” among his credits. I have no idea how that sets him up as the writer of a “Tron” movie, but hey, they’re Disney and I’m not. The 2010 movie starred Garret Hedlund as the son of Jeff Bridges’ character from the first movie, who finds...

Screen writer Jesse Wigutow is being scooped up by Summit Entertainment to do re-writes on "The Osterman Weekend", a remake off the 1983 film by Sam Peckinpah. The story, based off of a novel by Robert Ludlum, centers on the host of an investigative news show who's convinced by the CIA that the friends he has invited to a weekend in the country are engaged in a conspiracy that threatens national security. He isn't the only one that Summit's trying to get on board for this production. They're currently trying to woo over Robert Schwentke, the director of "Red", to take on the new version of "The Osterman Weekend". The only problem with that is he's being lured over to take on the Ryan Reynolds starring film "Ripd". Man, it must suck being an in-demand director (not).Wigutow recently penned the script for an untitled Steven McQueen biopic, and his other...

Wow, remember when you used to look forward to a new John Carpenter movie? He hasn’t directed a feature-length film since 2001’s lukewarm “Ghosts of Mars”, a film that I personally liked. Then again, put a bunch of people with guns in a building and surround them with things trying to kill them, and it’s usually a sure-bet I’ll be watching and loving it. Carpenter is looking to make his way back to the top, and has the Amber Heard-starring “The Ward” coming out sometime this year, and he’s already been attached to both “L.A. Gothic” and “The Prince”. According to Comingsoon, you can add “Fangland” to his list of upcoming projects. Based on the 2008 novel by John Marks, “Fangland” is a modern take on the vampire legend. Via Amazon, here’s the plot of the novel, and the upcoming movie: Professional and personal aspirations collide when Evangeline,...
