We've waited so long for some more inanimate objects to come to life, ever since the Poddington Peas or the Shoe People. So imagine our joy when it was announced that Christina Ricci will be starring as Yellow, a waxy little colouring crayon in her next film. Yes, really. The Hero Of Color City is about a bunch of crayons who must fight an evil tyrrant who threatens to rid their city of its colour and joy. Directed by Becky Bristow, sometime director of animated TV show The Wild Thornberrys and an animator on Rugrats The Movie, it is produced by Exodus Film Group, behind this year's Igor - which co-starred one of the Color City voices, Arsenio Hall. Also joining the line-up are Rosie Perez (last seen on the big screen in Pineapple Express), and talkshow host Craig Ferguson. The Hero Of Color City looks set for a 2010 release,...

NEW YORK -- Magnolia Pictures has chalked up all North American rights to The Hero of Color City, Becky Bristow's CG-animated tale of magical crayons, from the Exodus Film Group. Magnolia hopes to draw big audiences into theaters in fall 2007. The story follows a pack of crayons -- including an angry Red, easily frightened Yellow and cool Blue -- as they attempt to ward off an evil tyrant who tries to destroy their fantastical, colorful homeland. The Exodus production was written by J.P. McCormick and Rich Raczelowski. The executive producer is Max Howard, a Walt Disney Co. and Warner Bros. animation veteran who has similar duties on the upcoming Weinstein Co. release Igor. Howard waxed philosophic on the film's goals. "The first mark a child will often make in their life is with a crayon," he said. "What better way to encourage and inspire children than with a vivid world of crayons brought to life."...
