There was a Hell of a lot of brimstone and fire from Donald Trump last night in the first 2020 presidential debate, with Joe Biden and America both feeling scorched this morning.
Almost from the start, Fox News’ Chris Wallace went from playing moderator to nursery school teacher trying to rein in the former Celebrity Apprentice host, who seemed more intent adapting a Tasmanian devil strategy than talking policy – aka classic Trump.
Still, the near-universal criticism of the incumbent and the easy win delivered to the former VP may not burn Trump much as the ratings, which we all know he is obsessed with. Back in 2016, then-candidate Trump’s first debate with Hillary Clinton shattered expectations and records. If the early numbers are any indication, that will not be the case this time.

The doctors of Chicago Med are now dealing with the coronavirus in real life: Production on the NBC medical drama has been shut down for two weeks after a production team member tested positive for Covid-19, our sister site Deadline reports.
The production team member was immediately sent home following the positive test, and producers Wolf Entertainment and Universal TV decided to pause production out of an abundance of caution, since the production team member was in close proximity with the cast and crew. (A second member from the same department also tested positive last week.)

Weakest Link, minus the The, premiered on NBC this Tuesday night, overseen by Glee grad-turned-Hollywood Game Night host Jane Lynch. How does it compare to the UK original (and/or NBC’s original 2001 remake of same)?
That’s right, it was deja vu you were feeling if you sampled The Weakest Link on Tuesday night. NBC did a straight adaptation of the British series for a short spell in 2001/2002, hosted by Og snarker Anne Robinson. (Maybe, just maybe, that is why this “reboot” conspicuously dropped the The from the title, to avoid confusion in the annals of TV game shows.

As first revealed during a panel at Saturday’s New Yorker Festival, creator Ryan Murphy has chosen to re-edit the Oct. 10 episode, “Mid-Western Assassin,” which features an eerily similar tragedy. While the shooting has not been entirely cut from the installment, the scene is reportedly less graphic following new edits, with most of the violence taking place off-screen.

Anne Robinson, the long-serving presenter of BBC One's consumer show Watchdog, is leaving the programme after 15 years as its host.
Following the success of her primetime series Britain's Spending Secrets, which aired to strong ratings on BBC One this summer, Robinson is departing to make a brand new factual series for the channel to air in 2016.
"It's been an honour to be part of the most important consumer show in Britain," said the former Weakest Link host, who returned to Watchdog in 2009 after an eight-year break.
"Annie is a much-treasured part of the BBC One family and I'm grateful for everything she has done on Watchdog for nearly 15 years," added BBC One controller Charlotte Moore.
"I'm looking forward to her returning to the channel with a new factual series next year."
Matt Allwright and Chris Hollins will be staying with Watchdog, and the rest of the new presenting line-up will be announced soon.

It's exactly five weeks until the General Election and with the first week of campaigning nearly finished, all seven main party leaders turned up to ITV Studios tonight (April 2) to debate four main issues and tell voters their policies.
David Cameron for the Conservatives, Ed Miliband the Labour Party, the Lib Dem's Nick Clegg, Nigel Farage of Ukip, leader of the Green Party Natalie Bennet, Nicola Sturgeon for the Snp and Leanne Wood of Plaid Cymru all took to their podiums and discussed the economy, immigration, the NHS and education.
And here's what Twitter thought of the two-hour programme:
The set's blue hue and sheer number of podiums required for all seven leaders brought one TV show in particular to mind:

Lisa Whelchel, it's been real, but your stint on Survivor: Philippines is already disappointing. You've brought none of Blair Warner's flair to the proceedings, and you prove your Survivor cred is lacking with quotes like, "I can only play with the cards I've been given!" Guess who doesn't leave their fate up to the "cards" dealt by other players? People like Parvati Shallow. Russell Hantz. You know, Survivor super-champs.
Thus, it's time to think about which sitcom legends should join Survivor next. I love seeing TV stars of yore regain screentime, so this is a perfect opportunity to highlight other greats who 1) could slip by without the other contestants recognizing them, 2) are cooler than the anti-gay Whelchel, and 3) would be, uh, interesting. Here are our seven best options.

Bye bye Chris. It's as if we never knew you.
Yes, already after just one season, Christopher Eccleston was hanging up his leather jacket to move on to pastures new. The news of his departure was leaked just a few days after Rose had transmitted to rave reviews and excellent viewing figures. Unsurprisingly, the fans were a bit concerned about the longevity of Who – only a few more incarnations left, and that's your lot. There was also the great big cloud hanging over the season finale. Would Eccleston get his very own regeneration scene, and more to the point, would modern-day viewers be able to comprehend such a drastic change?
Luckily, the answer's yes, since Bad Wolf / The Parting Of The Ways (which will from now on be referred to as Bad Ways, just for the sake of not having to type out the whole damn thing again) ticks all the boxes,...

Amanda Holden has suggested that Simon Cowell should ask Anne Robinson to join the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel.
Piers Morgan revealed that he will be leaving the show, after he landed a chat show deal with American TV network, CNN. Cowell himself may miss the auditions at least, so Amanda is going to need some help in sorting through Britain’s deluded singers, dancers and dog owners.
Speaking to The Sun, Holden admitted that she’d like to work alongside caustic tongued Weakest Link host Anne Robinson. She said:
“I would love her to join me as a judge. She would be brilliant.”
Talking about Piers Morgan’s departure she added:
“People wouldn’t miss Piers but Simon would be missed if he left.”

The man (or woman) who will take over the Tardis and the sonic screwdriver for "Doctor Who" will be revealed by BBC on Saturday. That's the word coming from Sci-Fi Pulse who is hinting that BBC will announce David Tennant's replacement as Paterson Joseph, according to its sources. That was a name first dropped by SciFi Wire in October, and has grown legs ever since. Joseph played Rodrick, the rather annoying future "Weakest Link" contestant in the first season "Doctor Who" episodes "Bad Wolf" and "Parting of the Ways." Most of his work has been in British series that are mostly unfamiliar to American audiences such as "Green Wing" and "Survivors." BBC says it will reveal the identity of the new Doctor during its broadcast of "Doctor Who Confidential" Saturday at 17:35 local ...

The U.S. Olympic Committee is turning to the entertainment industry to raise the profile of the organization and the amateur athletes it supports. The USOC has signed with WMA as part of a major push to develop TV, film, music and publishing ventures tied to the athletes who emerge from the field of thousands of hopefuls to make the grade for the U.S. Olympic Team every two years. The nostalgic American Dreams may help lift NBC's longtime Sunday blues, while the season openers of The Practice and the spy drama Alias looked potent for ABC as the new season's first week drew to a close. Improving Sunday results was a top goal for peacock brass this year, and the 8 p.m. premiere of Dreams offered encouraging signs. The drama, which traces the impact of the upheavals of the 1960s on one family, averaged a 4.5 rating/12 share in the key 18-49 demo, with 13.3 million total viewers, according to preliminary figures from Nielsen Media Research. The demo numbers improved by 22% what the game show Weakest Link did in the slot a year ago. Perhaps most notably, Dreams built its demo audience by 25% from the first to second half-hour, an indicator of healthy viewer interest.

An American fashion pundit has naming The Weakest Link host Anne Robinson as 2001's Worst Dressed Woman. In his damning list, style guru Mr Blackwell describes the British TV presenter as looking like "Harry Potter in drag." Pop princess Britney Spears is next on his 42nd annual worst list, for outfits he calls "belly-baring bombs". Actress Juliette Binoche boasts the dubious honour of coming third, and is termed "Le Gauche Binoche." All three members of Destiny's Child share fourth place on Blackwell's list, in recognition of their "Off-Pitch Kitsch." Numbers 5 to 10 are singer Bjork, Monaco's Princess Stephanie, actress Kate Hudson, Briton's Camilla Parker Bowles, and actresses Cameron Diaz and Gillian Anderson. On the positive side of his fashion spectrum, Blackwell names actress Julia Roberts as the winner of his "Fabulous Fashion Independents for 2001," followed by TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey and TV journalist Diane Sawyer.

Cold TV gameshow host Anne Robinson has turned out to be human after all - after witnessing a contestant propose to his girlfriend on her American version of The Weakest Link. Matt Scott was supposed to be voting a fellow contestant off the show, but instead used his computer screen to scrawl "Marry me Revia." The red-head barked, "What are you doing? Are you desperate?" Matt bluntly replied, "No, I am not." Despite being rude to him for the rest of the show, she smiled and congratulated him when Revia said yes after the program.
