Storyline

Nine contestants work as a team to answer general knowledge questions against the clock and amass prize money up to a total of £1,000 per round. After each round, the contestants vote for whoever they consider the worst player. That player is the Weakest Link and is forced to endure the humiliating Walk of Shame. This continues with a decreasing time limit until only two players are left. They play head to head to decide the victor. Only the final winner wins any money. The other eight players leave with nothing. Host Anne Robinson is on hand to provide scathing commentary on the players' progress (or lack thereof), armed with her legendary catch-phrase: "You are the Weakest Link: goodbye!" Trivia

Two later stars of the BBC2 quiz show Eggheads, CJ De Mooi and Christopher Hughes both appeared on The Weakest Link, in 2000 and 2001 respectively, and both were voted out. In Hughes' case, he was the best performing contestant the show had seen, but was voted out in the penultimate round with the two other contestants stating they did not wish to play against him in the final. Host Anne Robinson was visibly surprised at the decision to vote off Hughes, and told him that as he had failed to answer a question incorrectly he was the show's best ever player, and she would be sorry to see him leave. Instead of using her famous catchphrase "you are the Weakest Link, goodbye", Robinson instead stated "goodbye Chris" indicating her unhappiness at his exit. See more »

I Like It

This is quite a good quiz show . I know everyone mentions the camp nastiness of quiz mistress Anne Robinson and she does a good job of the quiz mistress from hell but the most enjoyable part of the show is laughing at the muppet contestants who show themselves to be intellectually challenged :

Robinson: Brian Cox played what notorious serial killer in Michael Mann`s 1986 film Manhunter ?

Muppet : Robert De Niro

Robinson : What is the national anthem of New Zealand ?

Another Muppet : Australia forever

I didn`t make up these two answers by the way , they`re both genuine . Makes me wonder if anyone has been turned down by the show for being too stupid , and believe it or not a complete half wit occasionally goes home with the money
