This past weekend I attended the inaugural Milton Keynes Mega Comic Con put on by Striking Events. They have been growing in stature over the last couple of years with a wide selection of conventions, especially in the southeastern area. I have been following their growth on Instagram, so when a convention in my home town was announced of course I was very excited, the anticipation of having a home town convention again after all these years provided me with some anticipation. And ultimately, I can say that this was a very successful debut and I wish all involved continued success and growth.
The event took place in the Marshal Arena, on the site of Stadium Mk in Bletchley. So while it isn’t in Central Milton Keynes it is still a very accessible area with good road and rail links. For those wanting to make a day of visiting the convention,...

The Pokémon themselves are the soul of Pokémon Go. As obvious as it gets, Pokémon Go is directly inspired by the Pokémon franchise, which has been top-rated since its inception in the late 1990s. The way you catch and train Pokémon in this game is the same as in the traditional Pokémon series. Pokémon Go was developed by Niantic, Inc. in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, and originated from a 2014 April Fools’ joke called Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge. Recognizing the potential of merging Pokémon with augmented reality (Ar), Niantic, known for its expertise in Ar and location-based

Microsoft recently announced the integration of its own artificial intelligence, named Copilot, with games like Minecraft. The company’s demo showcased the Xbox AI’s ability to guide the player towards the next goal, acting as a tutorial or guidance feature.
Many users expressed dissatisfaction with this new feature on X, arguing that games should not provide assistance during gameplay. Most users compared this to a Wiki, a resource for games where you can find answers when you become stuck.

Some people are inextricably linked with our childhoods. You might not even know their names, but you would absolutely notice their absence. Pokémon is one such series that is inseparable from our childhoods, and so are the voice actors of the show.

Fans believe that one Dragon Ball character had a lot of potential that went unexplored. Maybe Akira Toriyama killed him off too quickly, or maybe it was necessary for the plot; it’s hard to say when it comes to this proud character.
However, the Saiyan blood running in him held a chance of greatness just like Vegeta and Goku. Yes, the subject of discussion is Raditz, the arrogant brother of Goku, who was gotten rid of in Dragon Ball Z.
Was Raditz’s Death Too Early in Dragon Ball? Raditz | Dragon Ball Z Fandom
Many fans consider Raditz’s death too early in Dragon Ball. If he had stayed, he could have become Goku’s ally in the long run. When he arrived on Earth, he was stronger than Goku and wanted to recruit him for Frieza’s army. But he was killed in the span of a few chapters.

Coming out of its screening at Glasgow's 2024 film festival, I saw a ticket for Hoard lying on Rose Street. Of course I picked it up. My own ticket is in either the short-term or long-term tins in which all my cinema passes are kept, a collection that spans 30-odd years and several thousand miles. One thing is a thing itself, two or more a trend perhaps, but at a certain point enough things become a thing themselves, however labelled.
My treasure though, apt in source and deed, pinned on a cork-board in my hall by the kitchen. Nested among a packet of Pokémon cards for a younger sibling's child, a delivery receipt with a good number on it, some badges, some stickers (stuck and as yet unstuck), a bit of council tax paperwork, a sign I made for another younger sibling's child's birthday party last year, a collage of...

Helldivers 2 has achieved impressive accolades and milestones despite the many controversies and issues. There is one game that managed to steal its thunder. Palworld was also an unexpected success and the community manager is unhappy about the game being used as a bullet.
The console wars have been going on for decades and Bucky believes that the players who take part in this silly debacle are wasting their time. Developers are not meant to throw shade at each other and their work and players shouldn’t compare stats like sales and player count.
Palworld Sold Way Faster Than Helldivers 2
Palworld was a massive hit on Steam and on Xbox which makes it a worthy rival for Helldivers 2.
Despite being accused of ripping off Nintendo and its famous Pokémon franchise, Pocket Pair denies the claims of copying any idea, however, there is an undeniable fact that the video game has taken inspiration from it.

After the initial wave of accusations against Palworld simmered down, it’s mostly been smooth sailing for the studio behind it, Pocketpair. Fans loved the game, the community praised it for doing what Nintendo and Game Freak shied away from doing, and it’s been getting a consistent barrel of updates.
However, the recent issues surrounding Xbox and Playstation have sparked another debate on the never-ending console wars, the name of Pocketpair’s game keeps getting brought up, and the community manager won’t have it.

Paul Schrader absentmindedly builds installation art out of seven prescription bottles, two inhalers and an empty martini glass, as we sit in a restaurant for seniors in a Manhattan high-rise. Outside, lights twinkle on the Hudson. In 1975, Schrader went to bed with a pistol under his pillow while writing “Taxi Driver.” “Having the option to end things is the only way I could sleep,” Schrader says.
The specter of death is less dramatic but still remains a central focus for the 77-year-old Schrader. Not coincidentally, it’s the subject of his new film, “Oh, Canada,” starring Richard Gere, Jacob Elordi and Uma Thurman. Schrader’s breathing is now shallow and raspy. The voice he once used to argue with Marty Scorsese, direct Willem Dafoe and seduce Nastassja Kinski is now a broken-glass growl. He raises it the best he can to get another drink.

Locally-produced crime action thriller “The Roundup: Punishment” dominated the South Korea box office for a second weekend. In contrast, Hollywood’s “The Fall Guy” opened softly in third place.
Data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic), showed “The Roundup: Punishment” grossed $13.8 million between Friday and Sunday, earned from 1.92 million ticket sales.
That represented a huge 83% market share over the weekend, albeit down from 92% a week earlier. The second weekend score also represented a 33% week-on-week decline. The film has earned $55.8 million, including earnings from a smattering of previews a weekend earlier. The running total came from an aggregate 7.96 million spectators.
That makes “The Roundup Punishment” the second highest-scoring film this year and, after just 12 days play, it is already the seventh best performing film in Korea since the beginning for the pandemic era. Two of the titles currently ahead of “Punishment” are its franchise predecessors...

Each chapter brings a new beginning and continuity at the same time. Five years ago, the idea of discussing the best video game adaptations ever felt like a largely joyless task. Inevitably, you would have to lower the bar to allow room for movies and shows that you would never otherwise discuss in a positive light. There were a few genuine highlights even back then, but the perception that the majority of video game adaptations were quite bad was both widespread and largely accurate.
The situation has changed in truly remarkable ways in recent years, though. We now regularly receive video game adaptations that aren’t just good according to the standards of that criteria but are rather genuinely great movies and TV shows. Suddenly, there is a genuinely complicated discussion to be had about the best video game adaptation ever.
Before we dive into that topic, though, keep in mind that we’re limiting ourselves to movies and TV shows based on video games.

Even those only vaguely familiar with video games probably know names like Super Mario, Grand Theft Auto, and Call of Duty. They’re the franchises that have come to dominate gaming over the last 50 years or so. Some of those franchises are currently being updated almost every year, while the new releases in others have become milestone events that seem to reshape the industry. New franchises come along and others fade away, but the biggest and best video game franchises have been slowly growing for years and, in some cases, decades.
Honestly, it can all be a little difficult to keep up with. For as significant as gaming’s biggest franchises are, they’re also…well, big. Over a long enough period of time, it’s easy to forget when specific games in certain franchises were released and where exactly they fit into the history of those series. You may know the names,...

Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor of Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece, might have found the perfect replacement who can take over her role as Luffy. Tanaka has been voicing Luffy for almost thirty years, and she has done a great job portraying the character over the years.
Luffy in One Piece
However, as she is getting old and the series is still a little far away from the conclusion, the creators might have to find someone else who could do justice to the character of Luffy. This has also become a major concern for Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece. Oda never imagined that the series would go on for so long.
In an interview, Oda talked about how Masako Nozawa, the character who voiced Dr. Kureha in One Piece, offered to take Tanaka’s role as Luffy’s voice actor in One Piece.

Charly Pierre was eliminated from “Top Chef” last week in “Supper Club,” leaving nine cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace. Except no, there weren’t just nine chefs left in the competition. This week not one, but two entered the show from “Last Chance Kitchen.”
So what happened in “Top Chef” season 21, episode six, “Chaos Cuisine,” when the size of the cast actually grew?
The episode begins with some “power bottom training” in the gym with Manny and Kevin, who have become close over the course of the season, bonded over exercise much like Danny and Rasika, but also bonded over their struggles in the competition.

Jrpg fans are a starving lot, stuck in an era of replaying their golden oldies and praying the latest indie game on Steam at least partially sticks the landing. Even recommending the classics can be difficult. Many of the best games have never received a revival port, or, worse, the revival is still up in the air. That’s the fate of the Suikoden franchise, whose first two games received a Japan-only PSP port in 2006 and which was originally meant to be released on modern consoles last year.
It’s another indignity for a series whose Western introduction in 1996 was festooned with an infamously bad replacement cover because Konami thought Westerners didn’t like manga. Or something.
Yet the turn-based franchise, which consistently featured a cast of over 100 characters to collect and a lively if simple settlement-building system, remains beloved to those hardcore RPG devotees that can find it. Continually...

In the world of anime, there are childhood classics like Pokémon, Dragon Ball, and Naruto, and then there’s Death Note. Ever since the anime premiered in 2006, it solidified its status as a cultural icon, earning itself the honorable Animation of the Year award in 2007. The series stands apart from the other series in the Shonen genre because it does not rely on fast-paced action sequences to keep its audience hooked. Instead, it features a tug-of-war psychological warfare between Light Yagami and L.
Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba
Death Note is probably the most renowned work by Tsugumi Ohba, as the manga series was always a step ahead, forcing its reader to give their complete attention, or else they’ll lose the thread that weaves the story together. However, the manga would have never existed if Ohba hadn’t decided to alter their career, purely to survive.

Masakazu Morita, the Japanese voice actor for Kurosaki Ichigo, the protagonist of Tite Kubo’s Bleach, has been voicing the character since the beginning of the series. He has additionally worked as Marco the Phoenix in One Piece, Tidus in Final Fantasy X, Whis in Dragon Ball Super, Pod in Pokémon, Tenjuro Banno in Kamen Rider Drive, and Li Xin in Kingdom.

While Morita is a big name in the anime industry, many fans may not know that Morita has also been voicing Kurosaki Ichigo in the popular mobile game Bleach: Brave Souls since the anime series ended. Along with that, he has also worked on a bunch of other popular mobile and PC video games.
However, Morita once revealed in one of his interviews that he prefers anime voice acting over games because it feels more like a conversation compared to video games, where they are just normal dialogues.

Zoro is a legendary character, not only in One Piece but in other anime and manga franchises as well. The daunting swordsman is often the butt of jokes due to his inability to figure out directions. However, that has not stopped him from appearing in other famous works.
Franchises like Haikyu!!, Kagurabachi and more have included Zoro references in their plot, proving that other mangakas are nerds for Eiichiro Oda’s work. But make sure this doesn’t reach the ears of Sanji fans, or the rivalry between the characters might just prove fatal.

It’s no surprise that after 35 years, people are still playing Nintendo’s classic grey brick in the Game Boy. What is surprising is that fans are developing and releasing games for the system. Thanks to programs like Gb Studio, you too can develop your own Game Boy games, and that of course includes horror games. And there are plenty of ’em. So rather than listing off the usual suspects that includes Castlevania, Contra, and the like for the Game Boy’s anniversary, here’s a selection of more recent handheld horrors that you (if you have the right equipment) can play in all their spinach-coloured glory.

Pokemon Go is a title that took the mobile gaming industry by storm and was an instant hit among fans of the Japanese media franchise. The gameplay loop, which encouraged people to catch Pokémon by finding them in the real world, was a unique experience and a differentiator for the title.
Now, the title, which came out in 2016, has received a new update, which has become a talking point for game players. The new update has affected the player avatars in the game, and it suffices to say that players are dissatisfied with it.

Palworld’s arrival in the gaming scene caused millions of players to jump into an open world that reminded them of all the Pokémon games that simply couldn’t live up to those standards. Even though the game feels heavily inspired by the popular franchise, it does things uniquely that sit well with its player base.
Tencent’s take on the same has been very similar to Palworld, and the studio’s CEO clarified that he has no problem with any of it. However, an article by IGN put this in a different light, stating that Takuro Mizobe ‘accused‘ Tencent of certain wrongdoings, which simply isn’t true.

What goes around comes around. Palworld is believed to be inspired by Pokémon, now others are taking inspiration from it. Helldivers 2 could be sharing the same fate. Both games successfully captured the attention of gamers when the industry appeared to have been down and out of quality games.
The games were released earlier this year and both have lived up to the mark. While the survival game has managed to sell nearly 25 million copies globally in its early access phase, the co-op shooter title has sold around 8 million as per the last report. The clones for the games might be coming and one developer is excited to see how it unfolds.

Palworld has been commended for its skillful design, but its cross-platform compatibility is still in question. The first playable version was released on January 19th, 2024. Since its release, players have been enchanted by its familiar gaming elements that echo the nostalgia of their Pokémon adventures. Cross-platform playability has become a major craze in gaming, largely because it unites players across different platforms. Palworld also features intense combat reminiscent of first-person shooters, and with potential cross-platform functionality, players would have the liberty to select their preferred gaming platform. Noting that, proceed to discover whether cross-platform functionality has ever been introduced

Palworld has taken the gaming world by storm with a blend of familiar gaming elements, but there’s speculation that the developer could face backlash or, worse, get sued. Pocket Pair spent $6.7 million to develop the game and made over twenty-four times that amount in return. Pokémon has always been the story of a boy wanting to become the best trainer in the world. The tale is something most, if not all, fans would be familiar with. The world within offers a variety of creatures that are both representatives of the real world and a mixture of the fictional. From Pikachu to Charizard, the range is unimaginably huge.

"Toonami" debuted on the Cartoon Network in 1997, back when the network was just hitting its stride. Cartoon Network debuted in 1992, and originally offered mostly old animated reruns. It was, for years, the best place to find old Droopy cartoons, as well as Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry cartoons, old DC superhero fare, and reruns of Hanna-Barbera trash like "Scooby-Doo" and "The Flintstones."
In 1994, the network had the brilliant idea to repurpose a largely forgotten Hanna-Barbera character named Space Ghost, transforming him into a talk show host. "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" set a new dadaist tone for the Cartoon Network, proving that it could make hip, self-aware, original content in addition to its blocks of reruns. In 1996 and 1997, Cartoon Network launched a quartet of new shows -- "Dexter's Laboratory," "Johnny Bravo," "The Powerpuff Girls," and "Cow and Chicken" -- and their reputation was solidified. It was now a destination station.
