Russian distributor Central Partnership has announced a raft of deals on their 2016 blockbuster The Crew (Ekipazh), also known as Flight Crew.
The disaster movie, shot in digital 3D IMAX and directed by Nikolay Lebedev, is a remake of a 1979 Russian film, Air Crew (Ekipazh).
In South America, Bf Distribution has taken rights for Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador with Chile releasing the film on October 20 and Peru following with a wide release on November 24.
Juliana da Cunha Jacobsen, head of acquisitions and business affairs at Bf Distribution, commented: “The strong commercial appeal from action and natural disaster tales quickly called our attention when learning about the movie. During the 1980’s camp related movies seem to spike the box office interest. Everything from Friday the 13th Summer Camp Nightmare and The Burning on one side of the spectrum to Meat Balls and its sequels on another could generate an audience and hopefully a modest profit. Every kid was going to summer camp and either getting laid, drunk or drugged or killed. Sounds like camp was a real crap shoot to me. Having attended summer camp only once and only for three days, I can say that my experience was less than stellar. We sang ridiculous religious songs, ate shitty ham steak and some kid in our cabin stepped on a nail, bleeding all over the place and causing quite the semi-traumatic moment. I Survived Summer Camp In The 1980’s. How? I never went back. My kids… never going to summer camp. No reason to tempt the fates, however...

Aftershock was Not directed by Eli Roth. That’s the first step in the wrong direction. It was directed by Nicolás López and Eli Roth co-wrote it, produced it and starred in it. It’s not truly an Eli Roth picture as a director. Now that we have that out of the way, do you think we can stop comparing Aftershock to and discussing Eli Roth’s short list of directorial efforts? Not a chance in Chile. This isn’t a movie that stopped the presses and caused a huge underground stir that had it voted into more theaters. Is it entertaining? Should you see it if it’s even still playing your neck of the woods? That’s what the Dead Air crew is here for. While the world waits with baited breath and enlivened gonads for Eli Roth’s return to the director’s chair with Green Inferno...

Critters 2 is a fan favorite. It’s a holiday favorite. Critters 2 is an amazing movie that woke up after a serious night of drinking and found its tongue firmly in cheek. The Dead Air guys love this movie and for the most part find a strange nostalgic connection to it. For me personally, twas the boobied bounty hunter, Lee. Imagine a young Jimmy Terror with hormones just creeping out into my brainstem and suddenly good town’s folk are being slaughtered by Crites, Hungry Heffer paddies are on the menu and a fateful Playboy falls off the back of a Jeep Wrangler. It might as well have fallen straight into my pants and landed on my junk for the impact it had on me. Great cinema doesn’t always require great writing or innovative cinematography. Sometimes a well placed set of mamms will make a bigger impact. Join...

Welcome to the next retrospective series from the Dead Air crew featuring all four films in the Critters franchise. Four movies you say? Yes. There were four movies made. Sure we all know about the glowing red eyes outside of the Browns’ window that scared the Stone out of Dee Wallace. We are all familiar with the Easter Bunny as played by the local sheriff, Easter Sunday at the Hungry Heffer and the Easter Eggs from the crazy vegetarian lady who gave Carob bunnies to kids in lieu of chocolate. But what of the latter day tomes that offer us a deeper understanding of Charlie? What of the mating habits of the urban Crite? If you think you’ve seen it all. If Critters only has two movies in your humble opinion, Leonardo DiCaprio disagrees.
This week we have the first installment in the Critters Retrospective Series featuring the original 1986 picture.

This is the end. The end of a podcasting journey that began in the mid-70’s and arrived at the here and now of 2013. Our John Carpenter Retrospective series ends with a recap of our best and worst moments of Carpenter’s filmography. This includes everything from the selection of fan favorites taken as a survey from our readers to our own personal favorites list. It’s an amalgam of thoughts and opinions, concepts and conclusions as force fed to you by us, the Dead Air crew (of which the cast has been ever rotating and we thank all of you who participated in discussions). From what I understand, Jeff has been nuzzled up against Adrienne Barbeau’s breast, sobbing like a baby and I personally have been watching him nuzzle Them… hungrily…. This all at the thought of this odyssey ending. (Note: Jeff does not actually know Barbeau or...

So you say that the entire later half of John Carpenter’s career is a wash… You didn’t like Escape from L.A. no matter how fun it was and no matter how seriously you weren’t supposed to take it. You like to sight Memoirs of the Invisible Man and Village of the Damned and Body Bags as your ammunition for playing the hater when it comes to the later day works of the great Jc… If you’re that guy, the hater, and you’re going to honestly tell me that John Carpenter’s Vampires didn’t spark a fever pitch neo-gothic western boner in your pants I’m afraid you may be a cinema eunuch. Today the Dead Air crew in the continuing John Carpenter Retrospective series are talking about James Woods going bat shit crazy with a motley crew of weapon wielding vamp hunters sent by...

There was a time when Snake Plissken just wasn’t that cool or at least a few cult followers of the up and coming John Carpenter rallied around the bad ass, anti-her with one eye, a pile of catch phrases and one liners and a film about saving the president of the United States (or really it’s about fighting Isaac Hayes). Let it be known that I am a fan of Escape from New York. If you have a bad word to say about it I’m afraid you’ll lose my ear immediately and you can pretty much talk to a wall. Escape from L.A. on the other hand is not a perfect movie or at least not as perfect as Escape from New York which isn’t exactly perfect, but, like I said before, no negative comments about the post-apocalyptic world of Snake or the Duke. That...

This week the Dead Already Podcast, the unofficial podcast of the Walking Dead from the Dead Air crew, had a new face… Me. Jeff Konopka and I got together thinking we were going to record a cast of modest length. Maybe a little over a half an hour. Hour tops if we started forgetting the names of the actors and/or characters. Well, not only did we not forget their names but we actually started running the gamut of our basic college course background starting at English 101 and ending somewhere in Psychology 101. We might as well have tried to get a bunch of frosh girls loaded on Four Lokos only to discover ourselves in togas meandering down the freeway looking for Carl.

We had a lot to say about pretty much everything in this rather complex episode 6, Hounded.

This is an unofficial Walking Dead cast which means no one approved it, no one behind the Walking Dead endorsed it and most likely that means you’re going to get honest to goodness commentary from the guys you’ve come to trust. The guys will be on discussing very soon after each show (and may miss one here or there due to intoxication or survival training related injuries). Take a listen. Share this with your friends. In the Mouth of Madness probably isn’t a movie that you typically associate with John Carpenter. I’m sure you think of The Thing or Halloween first and foremost, but I urge you to make this connection now. Jeff Konopka and Shawn Savage discuss in depth one of the best horror movies of the recent age, and one of my favorites. In fact I think we can all agree it’s up there on our top horror movie lists. It’s pure horror. It’s pre-meta horror i.e. before Scream. It incorporates the best of what Stephen King was writing via extension of Lovecraft. Sam Neill is perfectly cast and the score should be the newest addition to your playlist on your morning commute. There are so many reasons to check this movie out beyond the black humor and all out effect ridden chaos that you need to...
