‘Last Night at Terrace Lanes’ Review – Bowling Slasher Lands Somewhere Between Strike and Gutterball
In the pantheon of cool horror movie locations, the bowling alley is an overlooked gem. Unsurprisingly, the tendency to feature a disembodied body part being flung down the lane means that such films are frequently horror comedies.
Last Night at Terrace Lanes adopts a slasher approach (see: Gutterballs – or don’t), but maintains a humorous tone. The film, from director Jamie Nash and written by YA horror author Adam Cesare (working from a story by Jenna St. John), has a great logline: what if a killer cult attacked a bowling alley?
Sadly, the finished product struggles with its execution, leading to a decidedly mixed comedy slasher.
It’s the last night of business at Terrace Lanes, an aged bowling alley scheduled for demolition. Among the employees and the regulars bowling one last time, there’s Kennedy (Francesca Capaldi), a queer teen looking for some solo time with her crush Tess...

Chicago – They didn’t screw it up, and that is good. Eschewing modern conventions or typical animation pop culture jokes, “The Peanuts Movie” honors its source (Charlie Brown and the gang) and its creator, Charles M. Schultz, in a joyous and nostalgic celebration.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The filmmakers – director Steve Martino (“Horton Hears a Who”) and writers Craig Schultz (Charles’s son), Bryan Schultz (grandson) and Cornelius Uliano – kept a philosophy of “Wwcsd” (What would Charles Schultz do?), and produced a animated feature that contains the best of what made “Peanuts” great. The look is as if the comic strip has sprung to life, especially in optional 3D, and the character voices and feel have the same warmth as the familiar TV specials (there are several references along the way to those treats as well). The story was incidental to the subplots that played like mini comic strips, featuring Good Ol’ Charlie Brown,...

Mattel, the creator of games and all things fun, has found a way to bring fun, philanthropy, celebrity, and an extraordinary experience all in one event. Mattel's annual Party at the Pier is so very special - young movie and TV stars gather at the Santa Monica Pier alongside kids who are patients at Mattel's Children's Hospital for a day of fun. It sounds exclusive, but it's not - regular people can attend too by buying tickets (that's how they raise money for the Children's Hospital!). In fact, KidsPickFlicks' Cole and Riley have attended for several years, riding rides alongside stars like Peyton List and Olivia Holt.
This year, our own Star Reporter Cassandra Hsiao, covered the event for Byou Magazine (scroll down to see video). She spoke to celebs like "Happyland" star (and Kpf Movie Star Movie Critic) Kat McNamara, "Jessie" star Karan Brar, "Mighty Med's" Paris Berelc,...

Who says dogs can't blog?
Disney Channel has announced a new live-action, multicamera series, "Dog With A Blog," starring -- you guessed it -- a dog. Adopted by his family in hopes of helping two feuding stepbrothers get along, the four-legged pup named Stan soon proves he has more to him than meets the eye: Stan can talk and write!
The show stars G. Hannelius ("Good Luck Charlie"), Blake Michael ("Lemonade Mouth"), Francesca Capaldi ("A.N.T. Farm"), Beth Littleford ("The Daily Show With Jon Stewart"), Regan Burns ("Wizards of Waverly Place") and Stephen Full ("I'm in the Band").
"With our track record of discovering young talent who are 'triple threats,' we launched a nationwide search," Adam Bonnett, senior vice president of Disney Channel, said. "And our reward is that we found the one dog who could talk, blog and do his own stunts. Working with kids and animals has never been more fun!
