Rhoda Morgenstern will live forever, but Valerie Harper, who portrayed the iconic New Yorker on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has passed away at the age of 80.
Harper began battling cancer in 2013 after being told she had Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis.
Doctors asserted she had as few as three months to live, but Harper was having none of it.
Harper fought her diagnosis and announced eight months later that she was in remission.
The seasoned entertainer jumped on board an NBC documentary.
She also joined Dancing with the Stars. That premiered on September 16, 2013.
A former ballet dancer, Harper was paired with Tristan MacManus and got eliminated after the third episode.
She wanted Americans to be less afraid of death and to recognize it's a passage of life.
"While you're living, live," she told the audience.
Born to Iva and Howard Harper in Suffern, New York, Harper was the middle child.

Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole won't be quitting the show any time soon.
The professional dancer has been on the BBC One dancing programme since the very first year in 2004, but told Ok! magazine that he's still enjoying the experience.
"It's been a big chunk of my life, but it really doesn't feel like that long ago that it all started," he said.
"I love doing the show. I couldn't imagine my life without it now."
His wife Zoe then quipped: "Brendan will be there until they push him out of the door!"
Brendan also praised his celebrity partner Kirsty Gallacher, after rumours surfaced that the pair didn't get along due to Gallacher's busy schedule.
They were eliminated over the weekend, losing in the dance-off against Jamelia and Tristan MacManus, but Brendan only had positive words to say about her.

It's Halloween week on Strictly Come Dancing, with scary make-up and spooky props aplenty.
But who brought a bit of magic to the dance floor, and who had a monstrous night? Find out with our round-up of the scores and comments from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli - and you can relive every dance below:
1. Katie Derham & Anton Du Beke dancing the paso doble to 'Phantom of the Opera' by Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman: 4+6+6+5=21

Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Kirsty Gallacher has been voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The 39-year-old television presenter and her partner Brendan Cole were booted off the show after the pair lost out to rivals Jamelia and Tristan MacManus in the dance off tonight (01.11.15). Speaking after her exit, she said: ''It's a wonderful experience but Jamelia deserves it far more than me. I did my best but it was my time to go. I just want to say thank you to Brendan whose been incredible and I really mean that. He's an incredible friend and an incredible dancer. ''I've exceeded my own expectations, which surely is fine.

Strictly Come Dancing pro Tristan MacManus has defended the illegal lift in his foxtrot with Jamelia at the weekend.
As Jamelia admitted on Strictly: It Takes Two that she had no idea there was an illegal lift in the dance until Craig Revel Horwood complained about it, MacManus suggested it didn't even count as a rule break.
"A lift is something you can't do on your own," he said. "That was an assisted move. She jumped a little bit, that's grand. I'm not going to lie, it's a very slow song, wasn't the biggest fan of it, so I needed something to happen. I needed something to happen in the middle of it. Step, step, you got a bit carried away and jumped, it's not a lift.

Strictly Come Dancing is doing a lot of good for the dance world, choreographer Matthew Bourne has claimed.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Bourne questioned whether dancers should be "snobby" towards the BBC One show, considering how it has helped turn everyone into "critics".
"I love it!" he said (via Radio Times). "I seriously appreciate what Strictly's done for dance.
"The dance world can be a bit snobby about things as we know, and Strictly's maybe one of them. What Strictly's done is make everyone into critics to a certain extent, because we all look and analyse the dances.
"But in a good way, because also what it does do is when someone is praised, we understand why this was better than last week, what they've gained."
Bourne has worked on productions including Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.

Strictly Come Dancing was all very pleasant last week - everyone danced and had a lovely time. We even had a wardrobe malfunction, courtesy of Anthony Ogogo and his trouser-splitting jive. But no amount of glitter can disguise the fact that tomorrow night the first celebrity will be eliminated. Sniff.
Luckily, we have 15 exciting celeb dances ahead of us tonight - and we're sure it's still going to be a lot of fun, elimination fears aside. So slip on your sparkliest lycra and join us on the sofa from 6.20pm as we bring you all the action from the Strictly ballroom...

Bruno: "Oh, Jay, I'm 'Glad You Came', because you have the potential to be a great hit on the dancefloor."
Craig: "It was all very neat and very tidy - the only thing I could say that would add something to that is showmanship. I just felt like you weren't really living the experience."
2. Kirsty Gallacher & Brendan Cole dancing the waltz: 4-5-6-5 = 20
Bruno: "Your feet were all over the place, I'm sure you can do better."
Len: "I can well imagine the nerves they've all gone through, and you've got to control those nerves.

Strictly Come Dancing feels like it's ages away, so thank you to the BBC for keeping us going by releasing this photograph of the professional dancers in training.
The pros don't even know who they'll be competing with yet, but they're already hitting the dance studios to keep limber (and pose for pictures, obviously).
The BBC posted the snap on Twitter and pointed out that it's our first glimpse at new pros Otlile Mabuse, Giovanni Pernice and Dancing with the Stars alum Gleb Savchenko.
The photo also shows Ola Jordan looking in good health after she picked up a knee injury during training for Channel 4's The Jump at the end of last year; she later admitted that she feared she might never walk again.

The 10th anniversary of Dancing with the Stars will have two serious absentees, but the show can and must go on.
Executive Producer Rob Wade told People that the departure of Cheryl Burke to NBC and Derek Hough's show at New York's Radio City Music Hall shouldn't change the dynamic of show that will return to ABC for a 20th season in March.
"There is still a huge amount of fan favorites we can bring back," said Wade, who's reached out to Anna Trebunskaya, Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus and Louis van Amstel, among others, about returning this season.

Team Sparkle was comprised of professionals Tristan MacManus and Aliona Vilani with juniors Daniel and Ella, while pros Anton du Beke and Natalie Lowe danced with juniors Elliot and Mia as Team Glitter.
Both squads received rave reviews from judges, with Bruno Tonioli calling them all "supernovas of ballroom".

Even the usually-harsh Craig Revel Horwood added: "I wasn't impressed - and I'll tell you why. I couldn't find one thing wrong with it!"
It came down to a vote from the judges, as Revel Horwood and Tonioli supported Team Sparkle. Darcey Bussell registered her support for Team Glitter.

A staggering 1.6 million people have applied for tickets to see Strictly Come Dancing live at Elstree Studios this year - which means that Digital Spy was ridiculously excited to be asked along to watch Movie Week unfold right before our eyes on Saturday (October 11).
And while we all saw Frankie Bridge's incredible paso, Donny Osmond's phobia of scores under 5 and Jennifer Gibney hanging up her dancing shoes, here's some things you didn't see on BBC One...
1. Wardrobe issues
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman looked absolutely spiffing in their garb on both shows. However, comfortable they were not. Before Strictly went live on Saturday, they both walked out to say hello and wish everyone luck. Well, we say walked. Clauds hobbled erratically all over the dancefloor, tugging at her behind at least 10 times and declaring to the whole of the studio that her (several pairs of) Spanx were chaffing up a storm.

After both performances, the judges had to decide who to save for another week and who to send home.

Strictly Come Dancing: Week 2 as it happened
The bottom two pairs were calculated from a combination of the judges' scores from last and this week and the viewers' votes.
After Wallace and Gibney had been announced as the bottom two, both performed their routines again in a bid to impress the judges.
Gibney and MacManus's waltz to '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman', which had received a score of 19 on Saturday's (October 4) show, won out over Wallace and Vilani's Charleston to 'Hey Good Lookin'', which had earned them 18 points.

Ready to dazzle us again this autumn, series 12 of Strictly Come Dancing is on the horizon.
15 more celebrities are preparing to strap on some sequins and slap on the fake tan, all in the name of Saturday night entertainment.
Here's everything we know so far about the biggest British TV show's return:
1. When is it back?
The BBC are always particularly coy and prickly about confirming the start dates of TV shows, but a simple look at the official site for audience tickets reveals that the first two shows of the series will air on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27.
The Launch Show will air, as usual, three weeks earlier. Due to some funny little show called Tumble, it looks like the Launch Show will air on a Sunday this year, on September 7.
That is the show where the celebrities meet the partners for the first time, and it's also...

The ABC reality hit revealed its line-up of professional dancers for Season 19 on Good Morning America Wednesday, and a few beloved pros were on hand to make the announcement: Karina Smirnoff, Tony Dovolani, Cheryl Burke, and Val Chmerkovskiy, Maks' younger brother, all of whom are returning. (Phew!) But that doesn't mean there weren't some shockers as Sharna Burgess and Henry Byalikov are out. Season 17's Tristan MacManus and Tyne Stecklein will not return, either. After winning last season with Meryl...
