Julian Alvarez’s opening goal for City was quickly equalized by Tim Ream. London, Sep 3 (Ians) Manchester City remain top of the Premier League with four wins from four games after beating Fulham, while Tottenham moved into second after an impressive win away to Burnley.
Julian Alvarez opened the scoring for City half hour into the game before Tim Ream equalized for Fulham two minutes later on Saturday night.
Nathan Ake’s header made it 2-1 on the stroke of halftime with Fulham asking for a positional offside, which the Var didn’t give and another hat-trick from Erling Haaland – the first a trademark finish when through on goal, the second a powerfully hit penalty and the third a crisp finish inside the box – sealed the win, Xinhua reports.
Lyle Foster gave Burnley a fourth minute lead at home to Tottenham, but they were then blown away by another impressive display from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Chicago – The art of the confinement thriller is tricky to perfect. If it’s done right, the audience will feel trapped within the suffocating confines of a prison, while their heart rate will move at the same pace as that of the onscreen victim. Yet since the world of the film is limited to such a small space, one misstep will cause the entire experience to crumble in an instant.
Rodrigo Cortés’s “Buried” trapped Ryan Reynolds in a coffin for the entirety of its running time, and found multiple ways of opening up the world of its story without ever once cutting to an exterior shot. It played on the audience’s imagination much like the 1943 radio drama, “Sorry, Wrong Number,” while giving Reynolds the opportunity to deliver his best work to date. It wasn’t a masterpiece, per se, but it sure was an ingenious and effective thriller.

Atm is a thriller whose concept probably sounded pretty awesome on paper: Three young people go to an Atm booth in the middle of a parking lot on a cold December night.
As they half-drunkenly fumble to get money out of the machine, a strange hooded figure starts patrolling the area in front of the booth. The man brutally murders a guy walking his dog right in front of them and makes it clear that if they leave the Atm, he will kill them too. Sounds pretty neat, yes, but the problem is one of scope. Atm, as written, would be perfectly at home as an episode of Tales From the Darkside or Chiller, but stretched out to a 90-minute feature (or 85 on the director’s cut provided on the DVD), the...

The 2012 film Atm is a compact independent horror-thriller movie about three young people who make a quick late-night stop at a cash machine, a seemingly simple action that thrusts them into a life-threatening situation.
At a company Christmas party, insecure investment banker David (Brian Geraghty, The Hurt Locker) is going to give his co-worker (and secret crush) Emily (Alice Eve, The Decoy Bride) a ride home, only to have David’s pushy friend Corey (Josh Peck, Havoc) horn in and joing them as they leave. As if that’s not enough, Corey asks them to make a late-night stop at a glass-enclosed Atm in a dimly lit parking lot. Not long after that, the trio’s routine transaction turns creepy when a mysterious man...

Chicago – They have now officially run out of places in which to terrorize beautiful people on film with the release of the bizarre and unfulfilling “Atm,” a new thriller with three talented actors nonetheless caught in an ineffective film that stretches to meet its running time and then ends with a final act that destroys suspension of disbelief. There are brief glimpses here of the movie that could have worked but there’s a reason it’s only opening in limited release for now and playing On Demand through most of the rest of the country. It’s not a successful transaction.

The recent thriller Buried concerned a man trapped in an underground coffin. Apparently its screenwriter Chris Sparling found that situation just a little too claustrophobic, so his latest effort is largely set in the relatively airy confines of an Atm. Photos: Halloween Gone Wrong: The 10 Least Scary Movies of All Time The scariest experience most viewers have probably had with an automatic teller machine is seeing the balance on their accounts. Not so for the would-be victims in this gimmicky horror film directed by David Brooks. The hapless trio includes nice guy David (Brian Geraghty); Emily (Alice Eve),

Title: Atm Directed By: David Brooks Starring: Brian Geraghty, Josh Peck, Alice Eve Slasher flicks can get away with murder, no pun intended. They can reuse kills, tiptoe around logicality, have over-the-top performances and maybe even have a killer reveal his entire plan during the grand finale, and you accept it because that’s just what happens in these types of films. But still, what makes this use and reuse technique work time and time again, is a little originality mixed with some solid reasoning. The novelty is obviously there, but Atm’s got zero purpose and therefore, zero satisfaction. David’s (Brian Geraghty) had a rough day at work, but his co-worker [ Read More ]...

Cheap, slapped-together run-of-the-mill B-movie thrillers are a dime a dozen. And their egregiousness is often not worthy of outrage or scorn because frequently the films are made on the cheap with a knowing eye towards making a buck with direct-to-dvd sales or foreign markets that don’t care about quality. Everyone is professional and yet (very) aware they’re not making art.
These films often feature the Dolph Lundgrens of the world (and in more recent years folks like Tom Berenger and Patrick Bergin), and are usually distributed by the likes of Troma Films, Anchor Bay and First Look Studios and again, are looking towards audiences that are say, less discerning than those opting for Academy Award level movies.
The difference with the upcoming thriller “Atm,” unfairly or not, is that it was initially presented as something else, setting up expectations it likely couldn't reach. Debuting at the semi-prestigious Sundance Film Festival earlier this year,...

In Atm, three co-workers make a late-night visit to an Atm vestibule where they are terrorized by a mysterious man. He says nothing, he does not advance, but if they step out of the vestibule, all hell will break loose. We sat down with first-time feature director David Brooks, and asked him about shooting in a confined space, casting a douchebag, and what he would do if he were trapped in an Atm vestibule. Why Atm for your feature debut? It came to me through [producer] Peter Safran, who I've known for a long time. He had produced Buried, which was [writer] Chris Sparling's first film. For me, it was just what I was looking for as far as a first feature. First and foremost, the script took me somewhere...

Full disclosure: I openly mocked director David Brooks’ 2012 feature-length debut “Atm” when I first happened upon the trailer. A horror movie set inside a free-standing Atm? Starring Josh Peck? The film sounds ludicrous by design. However, it’s not nearly as butt-clenchingly terrible as one might initially imagine. Sure, a reasonable amount of disbelief must be suspended in order to fully enjoy the convoluted storyline, but Brooks and his capable cast — Peck included — do a fine job of making you believe that a scenario as silly as this could actually happen. Had this thing been released back in the mid-90′s, it probably would have cleaned up at the box office. Kevin Williamson should be proud of his vast cinematic legacy. “Atm” concerns itself with the misadventures of three co-workers who, after attending a company Christmas party, decide to head home for the evening. David (Brian Geraghty) offers to...

Sometimes all you need is a setting to get the creative juices flowing, and for writer Chris Sparling and director David Brooks, it's something as simple as a cash machine in the middle of a vast parking lot that serves as the foundatoin for the thriller "Atm." For Sparling, he's a seasoned hand at getting the most out of a seemingly minimal concept as he proved with "Buried," while Brooks is looking to prove he's got the chops to pull it off, making his feature debut.

Now on VOD from IFC is David Brooks' self-contained thriller Atm, which centers on three co-workers who -- on a routine stop at an Atm -- unexpectedly end up in a desperate fight for their lives. Bloody stringer Brad McHargue check out the thriller and suggests you withdraw (pun intended) any desire to rent it. "'Atm' is one of those films that, on paper, has serious potential. Director David Brooks, unfortunately, failed to instill in it anything that resembles real suspense, preferring instead to give us an hour and a half of three boring characters doing stupid things as a silent guy in a mask stands around and watches." Three people trapped in an Atm building. A hooded killer stands outside, toying with them. He doesn't try to break in. He doesn't let them leave, either. What would you do? That's the question screenwriter Chris Sparling and director David Brooks ask the audience with the high-concept thriller, Atm. It could have worked. If the characters here reacted in any real way, they might have pulled it off. They don't, and it becomes exceedingly obvious that Atm is a 15-minute idea trapped in a 90-minute movie. With unsatisfying and unnatural padding, flashes of style, it's tone and energy is too often replaced with shambling and idiocy. The three trapped are actors Brian Geraghty, Alice Eve, and Josh Peck, three co-workers driving home in the middle of the night after the company Christmas party. Geraghty has a crush on Eve and plans to make his move this night. Peck, on the...

Ive been looking forward to this film for some time now. It is the feature length directorial debut of David Brooks, and was penned by Chris Sparling, the writer of Buried. The film is basically a 90 minute claustrophopic nail biter with the majority of the film taking place within a small standalone indoor Atm unit in the middle of a parking lot during the middle of the night. If you’re a fan of intense and thought provoking nail biters that provide little room to breathe, then you’re in for a treat with ‘Atm’.

Take a look at the brand new poster for Atm along with two clips. I have always wondered about crime in happening in Atm vestibules and don't like going into them at night. I guess I'm not the only one who thought of this. Atm is directed by David Brooks, written by Chris Sparling (Buried) and stars Alice Eve (Men in Black III), Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) and Brian Geraghty (When a Stranger Calls).

IFC Midnight is withdrawing tons of content from David Brooks' self-contained thriller Atm, which will be released on VOD and Digital Platforms (iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBox Zune, PS3 Video Unlimited) on March 2nd before opening in theaters on April 6th. The official one-sheet displays the killer looming just out the Atm, while the first two clips take us inside where all of the chaos ensues. Penned by by Chris Sparling, whose previous credits include the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Buried, the flick stars Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), Josh Peck (The Wackness), Alice Eve (Entourage). The trio play co-workers who make a late-night visit to an Atm and find themselves fighting for their lives when they become trapped by an unknown man. Last week I wrote about four major magazine articles evaluating Barack Obama's success and future prospects as president. "How He Fumbled, Why He's Recovering," we called it, and the stories all narrated Obama's typically serpentine ideological course: First he strikes positions designed to be conciliatory toward Republicans, then finds them utterly uninterested in conciliation – at which point, as Andrew Sullivan puts it, he swings to a "position of moderate liberalism and fights for it." The four pieces divided mainly in how they assessed Obama’s strategic acumen. Sullivan...

Three kids are stuck inside an tiny building while a dangerous killer stalks them from the other side of the glass. That’s the basic plot for director David Brooks’ thriller “Atm”, which is written by the guy responsible for “Buried”. The recently released trailer is beyond ridiculous, though I’m not sure if that’s exactly what the filmmakers had in mind. Were they aiming for something serious? I sincerely hope not. In order to get everyone excited about the film’s upcoming release, the promotional soldiers at IFC have unleashed the one-sheet you see below. “Atm”, which stars Alice Eve, Josh Peck, and Brian Geraghty, will be available on VOD beginning March 2nd, 2012. You can also catch the flick in select theaters on April 6th...

IFC Midnight has released the first official one-sheet for Atm. David Brooks directed this based on a script written by Chris Sparling (Buried). Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), Josh Peck (The Wackness), and Alice Eve star in this "contained thriller." The film follows "three co-workers who make a late-night Atm run. While withdrawing some cash a hooded maniac targets the trio."
The trailer looks really silly. There are three of them and one bad guy--come on, they should be able to take him out. I am sure there is more to it in the movie, but I won't know until I see it. Atm will be available on VOD March 2nd, and then arrives in theaters April 6th. Watch the trailer below, if you have not already seen it. Or if you have. What are your thoughts?

Trapped by a killer. With our luck it could happen to us anywhere. Especially if we're with Buz and in Mexico. They hate him there. No one really knows why. But yeah, three new stills from Atm have made their way to the DC offices. Dig it.

The movies new one-sheet features the faceless psychotic up close and personal whilst his potential victims in the background, played by Alice Eve -below ('She's Out of My League', 'The Raven'), Josh Peck and Brian Geraghty ('When a Stranger Calls', 'The Hurt Locker') can only look on in fear. Contained thrillers are all the rage right now, but the of three people trapped at an Atm machine? How "contained" can you get? What are the logistics of something like that? Director David Brooks has your answer in Atm, a new thriller coming from IFC, and we've got a look at the trailer which features an Atm seemingly at the edge of the world where civilization does not exist.
Brian Geraghty, Josh Peck and Alice Eve star as three people venturing home from a party who swing by an Atm booth and become trapped inside by a killer wearing a winter parka (he's been watching Urban Legend, it seems). The writer behind Atm, Chris Sparling, also penned Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds, so this guy likes to take people and see how they crack under the pressure of confined spaces.
Update: The film will hit VOD on March 2 and arrive in...

A new trailer for David Brooks' feature flick 'Atm' has been revealed by IFC Films. The new horror from writer Chris Sparling ('Buried') features a group of co-workers trapped in an Atm vestibule who are being stalked by an unknown man. Sparling clearly has the touch to make restricted space thrillers actually thrilling which is more than apparent in catch-your breathe horror 'Buried', starring Ryan Reynolds. The movie stars the delightfully gorgeous Brit actress Alice Eve ('She's Out of My League', 'The Raven') along with Josh Peck, Brian Geraghty ('When a Stranger Calls', 'The Hurt Locker'), Aaron Hughes, Shailee Ferguson and Will Woytowich. We have to assume 'Atm' will keep it's title when travelling over to the UK, even though an Atm is better known as cash machine or hole-in-the-wall. Check out the new trailer below.
