If you need any reminder that Edgar Wright likely has a playlist ready for any occasion, please do yourself a favor and catch up with “Baby Driver” (and maybe just mentally block out the Kevin Spacey scenes). The director is in dazzling form behind the camera, and also powers the whole movie from end to end with a carefully curated selection of songs that pretty much choreograph every movement in the movie.

Taylor Swift is releasing a new song.
The Reputation singer served up another three-panel Instagram post on Thursday, featuring a snippet of "Gorgeous" -- the third release off her upcoming album, along with an announcement that the full song will be available at midnight Eastern time.
While it's hard to really tell from the short bite where the song is going (note to pop artists: snippets are evil and we hate them), what can be heard is a baby voice saying the song's title, followed by a short arpeggiated progression that almost feels like a Bleachers/LCD Soundsystem (circa "Dance Yrself Clean") hybrid. Check it out below.
More: Taylor Swift Holds First Secret 'Reputation' Listening Party in the UK
Thematically, Swift again seems to unintentionally (or... come on, probably intentionally) bring frenemy Kanye West into the narrative. "Gorgeous" is the title of the second track on West's critically acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, which was widely...

“You’re the Worst” Season 4 began with a problem.
“There’s a sort of a writers room buzzword [called] ‘schmuck bait,'” series creator Stephen Falk told IndieWire. “It’s bait for schmucks. It’s like, ‘Oh, the hero’s son is in peril!’ But, well, they’re not actually in peril because, you know, they’re a major character. They’ll come back.”
The bait to start Season 4 — and thus the problem facing it — is that Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash) are broken up. Most real-life couples couldn’t come back from such a tragic split, but given that “You’re the Worst” is a romantic-comedy focusing on Jimmy and Gretchen’s relationship, the expectation persists: They’ll get back together, right?

LCD Soundsystem's Gavin Russom is transgender. During an interview with Grindr's online publication, Into, the 43-year-old opened up about her identity and her decision to come out. "This is my fifth decade being alive, and in each of those decades, there's been a time where I've tried to say, 'Hey, I think I'm transgender!'" she explained. "This was even before that word existed." The synth player, who is keeping her name the same, added that her bandmates have been incredibly supportive during this transition in her life. "The general feeling in the group is that will make the band better," she said. "I'm the happiest I've ever been. But I have my good days and my bad days. On my bad days, it really sucks and I wait until I get home to go to the bathroom - which is such a basic thing," she said, referring to...

Gavin Russom is finally living her truth. In a new interview with Grindr's Into, the LCD Soundsystem keyboardist and synth player comes out as transgender after years of self-identifying "along the feminine spectrum." Russom, 43, explained, "This is my fifth decade being alive, and in each of those decades, there's been a time where I've tried to say, 'Hey, I think I'm transgender!' This was even before that word existed." And as the rock band begins preparations for an upcoming tour and album release on Sept. 1, the musician said she "could not imagine" entering the next chapter of her life as someone she's not. Additionally, Russom described...

Gavin Russom is done pretending.
The LCD Soundsystem musician revealed her transgender identity in a candid new interview with Grindr's Into publication.
"This is my fifth decade being alive," Russom said. "And in each of those decades, there’s been a time where I’ve tried to say, ‘Hey, I think I’m transgender!’ This was even before that word existed.”

During the interview, Russom, who for now at least, says she'll still go by Gavin, dives deep into her past struggle to accept binaries, both in gender and at large, explaining that ahead of LCD Soundsystem's highly-anticipated comeback album, American Dream, which drops this September following the group's six-year hiatus, she "could not imagine" continuing to hide her true self.

Frank Ocean Responds to $14.5 Million Libel Lawsuit Filed by Estranged Father in New Court Documents
Frank Ocean has responded to his father's libel lawsuit.
According to court documents filed on Feb. 2 that were obtained by Et, the artist's estranged father, Calvin Cooksey, is seeking $14 million in damages, claiming his son committed libel in a Tumblr post from last June. Ocean’s post described an alleged incident with his father, who Ocean claims once used a homophobic epithet to refer to a transgender waitress before dragging his then 6-year-old son out of the restaurant.
The quote in question, from Ocean's still-live blog post, which was written as a response to the tragic Orlando Lgbt nightclub massacre, reads, "I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f***ot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty."

Saturday Night Live spoofed dystopian series The Handmaid's Tale by criticizing hollow social protesting in a sketch with Chris Pine. The Wonder Woman actor played one of several hard-partying bros who are shocked – but only half-heartedly concerned – about the plight of their former "girl squad."
Like Elisabeth Moss in the acclaimed drama, these four women (Cecily Strong, Sasheer Zamata, Aidy Bryant, Vanessa Bayer) live with "no rights and no freedoms" and are "forced by an oppressive government to bear children under penalty of death."

The show must go on – until a strike is officially called. [Update — No strike!]
That was the word from inside TV’s late night talk shows and series, which continued to operate, business as usual, even as the possibility of a work stoppage on May 2 loomed large.
That has meant continuing to book guests, produce taped packages and plan for series road trips – all of which might not happen should the Writers Guild negotiating committee call for a strike.
“We’ll see what happens and take it from there,” said “The Late Late Show with James Corden” executive producer Ben Winston. ” We support the writers, we hope the strike doesn’t happen, because we want to carry on working and making a show. It’s concern for us. I think any decision on what we do, we’ll wait and hope it doesn’t happen and hope that everything works out.”

“Saturday Night Live” knew all eyes would be on Studio 8H this weekend, and they weren’t going to risk messing it up. So, to bridge international politics, the airline-that-shall-not-be-named, and the chance to debut Harry Styles’ second single as a solo artist, they knew who to call: Jimmy Fallon. NBC’s golden boy-man is capable, experienced, and a brand name; he’d draw eyes to “SNL” regardless of its historic live-in-all-time-zones gimmick. And the network’s methodology worked! The episode was upbeat and off-kilter, magical and madcap, replete with goofy impressions and political commentary alike.
This is our favorite “SNL”: Painful laugh-out-loud moments nurtured by cozy predictability. It was also Harry Styles’ long-awaited television debut as a solo act. (Did we say that already? Apparently, if you say his name three times into a mirror, he materializes to brush your hair.)

While Mike Mills may not have been the most prolific filmmaker since adapting Walter Kirn’s Thumbsucker for his first feature in 2005, his ability to get great performances out of his casts is undeniable, especially after Christopher Plummer won an Oscar for his role in Mills’ Beginners in 2010.
Mills’ new film 20th Century Women comes from a similarly personal place as Beginners, as it follows the coming-of-age of 15-year-old Jamie (newcomer Lucas Jade Zumann), living in a house in California with his overprotective single mother (Annette Bening), and two boarders, Abbey and William, played by Greta Gerwig and Billy Crudup, in 1979. At the behest of his mother, Abbey and Jamie’s best friend Julie (Elle Fanning) are coerced into helping Jamie learn what it’s like to be a man that’s sympathetic towards women.

Coachella 2017 is still a few months out, but anticipation for its next edition is already running high. With the passing of this year’s festival season follows suit a hunger for a new set of lineups to obsess over, and Coachella is certainly leading the pack in this regard. DJ Snake and DJ Khaled have both leaked their slots on the roster, while a number of alleged headliners like Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and Beyonce have also been hinted at.
If the trend of previous years follows suit, Goldenvoice won’t begin to reveal the official lineup until January, and aside from some fairly reliable predictions, we’ll have to wait until then to get a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming event.

Two episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
True “dramedies” feel like a dying breed. Some shows are great miniature 30-minute dramas disguised as comedies (as Julie Klausner would say), like Hulu’s cute and compassionate show Casual. Others lean more on the straight-up humor side of things without diving too deep into dramatic weeds, a.k.a. anytime the bunker is brought up on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
You’re the Worst is the much-needed middle ground. Creator Stephen Falk is so unafraid to stock his show with characters that live up to its title, and then some, that it makes it far easier to stomach any of the dark turns that are frequently taken. After all, with people this mean-spirited and self-centered, it’d be unbelievable if the writing only had bawdy humor on its mind. Thankfully, it doesn’t, and season 3 not only carries last year’s unsettling reveal...

After all, with people this mean-spirited and self-centered, it’d be unbelievable if the writing only had bawdy humor on its mind. Thankfully, it doesn’t, and season 3 not only carries last year’s unsettling reveal...

We came, we saw, we enjoyed.
For the second straight year, the WayHome Music and Arts Festival, as organized by Republic Live, swept through the quaint town of Oro-Medonte, Canada. Roughly 1.5 hours from Toronto, the city saw over 40,000 festival goers descend upon it for the three-day concert series. After the success of the 2015 installment, pressure was high coming into the event, and thankfully, expectations were met.
WayHome 2016 proved to be an incredible time for everyone who attended, with an array of top tier musicians such as The Killers, Arcade Fire, Major Lazer and LCD Soundsystem all playing to massive crowds. With other acts such as The Arkells, Metric and Chet Faker performing as well, there was no shortage of outstanding music during the three-day fest.
In addition to the music, there was an interesting and eclectic variety of both big name brand food and smaller,...

Lollapalooza begins this Thursday in Chicago, Illinois, with four days of music led by evergreen rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead, 21st Century staples LCD Soundsystem and M83, crossover hitmakers like Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey, a slew of hip-hoppers led by J. Cole, Future and Asap Ferg, along with white hot, cross-genre diamond cutters, Major Lazer. Phew! With that kind of lineup, where do start? The 25th anniversary of the festival, which was initially launched as a traveling alt-rock tour in 1991, takes over Grant Park, which is hooked directly into the urban grid of downtown Chicago. Scanning the lineup of N.Y.C.'s Panorama Festival, set to take place this weekend, reveals the usual big-tent reunions (LCD Soundsystem), huge, hook-oriented pop (Sia) and subwoofer-shredding bassheads (Major Lazer). Oh, and one Mormon violinist who combines classical music, dubstep and contemporary dance. That would be Lindsey Stirling, whose unique, boundary-crossing music has made her a hit with the YouTube set. (And Europe - more on that later.) Stirling grew up in Arizona and started learning violin at the age of 5. Eventually she became Junior Miss Arizona and won the Spirit Award in the America's Junior Miss Finals.

“Snubbed” is an imperfect term for the series and performers whose Emmy campaigns conclude Thursday morning—voters intend no disdain, to be sure—but it does capture the feeling of the TV Academy’s annual nominations. Alongside the usual suspects and pleasant surprises, there are inevitably a few disappointments, longtime favorites that lose out and freshman sensations that fail to break through. For those of us on the Emmy beat, in fact, lamenting the Academy’s selections and, yes, “snubs” is as much a rite of passage as celebrating the honorees.
The list below is far from exhaustive. For one thing, it largely excludes series that appear to be on the bubble; I’m not ready to give up on Rachel Bloom (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) in the Outstanding Lead Actress (Comedy) race, or on “The Americans” in the Outstanding Drama Series category, though both might well end up on the outside looking in.

On April 20, Limp Bizkit was supposed to give a concert at a Sunoco in Dayton, Ohio. At least, according to Facebook. "We come all the way from West Milton to see Limp Bizkit. Live action," said fan Randy Ray, just one of the 8,9000 confirmed attendees (on Facebook) who showed up, ultimately just to be disappointed, according to Wrgt. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst issued a statement on Twitter declaring the concert a hoax, but it didn't stop fans from showing up - many were simply there for the fun of it, although a few were hoping for a last-minute surprise: "Where you at?...

UK based festival Glastonbury has announced the full dance music lineup for their 2016 event, revealing a massive list of DJs and performers who will be hitting their Silver Hayes dance village this summer. Comprised of six separate stages, Silver Hayes will serve as the epicenter for all things dance related and is slated to house some of the most respected DJs in electronic music.
Glastonbury’s 2016 dance lineup features a wide range of talent, with well established mainstream DJs like Oliver Heldens, Annie Mac, Four Tet, Claptone, and Disciples all making the cut. The roster features heavy on plenty of underground artists as well, including Bob Moses, Lion Babe, Mr. Vegas, and DJ Die joining the lineup. Actor Idris Elba is also scheduled to drop his own DJ set at the festival, which should be quite interesting.

Performers including Ellie Goulding, LCD Soundsystem and Sufjan Stevens took advantage of their stage time at the Coachella music festival to honor Prince on Friday night. Goulding belted out a cover of “When Doves Cry,” and Stevens joined forces with Gallant to play an extended version of “Purple Rain,” according to Refinery29. LCD Soundsystem performed “Controversy.” Before the newly reunited band went on stage, the Coachella main stage’s three screens played the entirety of Prince’s own Coachella performance cover of Radiohead’s “Creep,” that ended with the projected message “From now on, this is Prince’s House.” Also...

Imagine being on top of the world, with every turn revealing more screaming fans and tens of thousands crowded around your stage for every performance… It’s a lot more stressful than any of us can imagine, and even harder to give up.
Tim Bergling, Aka Avicii, shocked everyone with his recent announcement that he will retire from touring, but thanks to a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, it’s finally starting to make sense.
The Swedish superstar was supposed discuss his upcoming documentary Stories, but Avicii’s contemplative responses allowed a much deeper understanding of his recent announcement.
I was nervous when I made the announcement, mainly that I would look ungrateful. But I’ve gotten so many supportive texts from friends in the industry, other DJs, other artists. The fan response has been incredible. And even the press response has been incredible. So yeah, its been a lot better than I expected.
