This podcast is different to what listeners will find on Mitchell’s daily radio show, with the conversations longer and more detailed, while also being relaxed so that listeners truly get...

Why Don’T You Just Die! is currently available on Blu-ray From Arrow Video
Shades of early Tarantino, Edgar Wright and Sam Raimi abound in this violent, stylish and riotously entertaining slice of family life, Moscow style, described as a splatterpunk action comedy drenched in gleefully dark Russian humor (The Hollywood Reporter) and an amazing first feature from a filmmaker to watch (Screen Anarchy).
Matvey (Aleksandr Kuznetsov) has just one objective: to gain entry to his girlfriend s parents apartment and kill her father Andrey (Vitaliy Khaev) with a hammer to restore her honor. But all is not as it initially seems, and Matvey s attempts to bludgeon the family patriarch to death don t quite go to plan as Andrey proves a more formidable not to mention ruthless opponent than he anticipated and Matvey, for his part, proves stubbornly unwilling to die.
Making his feature debut, writer/director Kirill Sokolov...

Klaus Kinski in Ricardo Freda’s Double Face will be available on Blu-ray June 25th From Arrow Video
In the post-war years, the proliferation of transnational European co-productions gave rise to a cross-pollination of genres, with the same films sold in different markets as belonging to different movements. Among these, Riccardo Freda s Double Face was marketed in West Germany as an Edgar Wallace krimi , while in Italy it was sold as a giallo in the tradition of Mario Bava s Blood and Black Lace, combining elements from both genres for a unique and unforgettable viewing experience.
When wealthy businessman John Alexander’s unfaithful wife Helen dies in a car crash, it initially looks like a freak accident. However, the plot thickens when evidence arises suggesting that the car was tampered with prior to the crash. And John s entire perception of reality is thrown into doubt when he discovers...

For his tenth feature, Terry Gilliam adapted Mitch Cullin s celebrated cult novel Tideland, a work he once described as Alice in Wonderland meets Psycho through the eyes of Amélie.
To escape her unhappy life in a remote part of Texas, nine-year-old Jeliza-Rose dreams up an elaborate fantasy world. But the reality of having junkie parents played by Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski) and Jennifer Tilly (Bound) and the influence of her eccentric neighbours begins to encroach, turning her daydreams ever darker.
A rich slice of Southern Gothic blurring whimsical fantasy with unsettling reality, Tideland is among Gilliam’s most personal works indeed, with its shifts between the amusing and the macabre, expressive camerawork and striking special effects, the film could be the very definition of Gilliamesque!

Sleeping Dogs Starring Sam Neill and Warren Oates Available on Blu-ray from Arrow Academy April 17th
The 1977 New Zealand thriller Sleeping Dogs Starring Sam Neill and Warren Oates will be available on Blu-ray from Arrow Academy on April 17th
Adapted from C.K. Stead s novel Smith s Dream, Sleeping Dogs almost single-handedly kickstarted the New Zealand New Wave, demonstrating that homegrown feature films could resonate with both local and international audiences, and launching the big-screen careers of director Roger Donaldson (No Way Out, Species) and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Possession).
Neill in his first lead role in a feature plays Smith, a man escaping the break-up of his marriage by finding isolation on an island off the Coromandel Peninsula. As he settles into his new life, the country is experiencing its own turmoil: an oil embargo has led to martial law and civil war, into which Smith reluctantly finds himself increasingly involved.
