Things that go bump in the night will be honored at the first ParaPod Awards, set for Saturday, April 1 as part of the ParaPod Festival in Santa Clarita, Calif.
The awards honor the influencers and content creators who work in the paranormal genre.
“As a content producer and host myself, being able to create a platform to celebrate the paranormal genre and those content creators who are working in it has been a long-time goal,” says ParaPod founder Tony Sweet. “Influencers, podcasters, documentary filmmakers, television producers, and hosts who dare to cover topics like UFOs or Bigfoot often get overlooked by mainstream awards shows, and I want to change that.”
Podcasters whose content covered the paranormal were asked to submit their work in various categories via the ParaPod Festival website. A committee of listeners rated the podcasts in their selected categories to create a list of finalists. The finalist podcasts...

In an interview with Den of Geek’s paranormal pop culture show Talking Strange, the trio discussed the latest 10-episode season — which kicks off Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Travel Channel, and same day on the discovery+ streaming service — as well as what they hope their lasting contribution to the ghosthunting world might be.
Since its premiere in 2016 on Destination America and TLC, where it aired concurrently before moving to Travel Channel in 2019, Kindred Spirits has focused on haunted people before locations. Throughout the course of an episode, Bruni and Berry, both executive producers and alums of the Ghost Hunters franchise,...

Kesha is a singer, songwriter, global pop superstar, paranormal investigator, and explorer of the unexplained. Though she is perhaps better known for her multiplatinum musical success, it is her fascination with the unknown that propels her pursuits these days. To put it simply, in her own words, Kesha is “totally addicted to ghosts.”
And in the Conjuring Kesha unscripted paranormal series, which she stars in and executive produces — currently airing on Travel Channel during the network’s seasonal “Ghostober” event, following its premiere on the discovery+ streaming service last summer — the artist has found a “reinvigorated lust for life” in the afterlife.
In a recent interview for my Talking Strange paranormal pop culture podcast, Kesha spoke to me about her six-episode series, which is touted as a journey into haunted hospitals, prisons with a demonic force, secret societies, a sasquatch hunt, and a home potentially occupied by Harry Houdini’s specter.

There’s a certain preconceived notion surrounding psychics. Those who believe really do believe, and those who don’t believe are either fascinated and amused by the entire concept or they are absolute skeptics. There really doesn’t seem to be much of an in-between. Chip Coffey, if you’ve never heard of him, is a self-proclaimed psychic. He’s spent some time on television helping people find what they are looking for in a world that might or might not be real. The real-life 'Conjuring' family are reuniting for the Kindred Spirits ghost hunt. We have an exclusive clip.
When The Conjuring debuted in 2013, the $20 million modestly-budgeted haunted house horror flick directed by James Wan became a $319 million juggernaut, and re-introduced famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to modern audiences. But the core of the story revolved around the real-life Perron Family who lived in the Rhode Island home, and were allegedly tormented by evil spirits.
Though the Perrons moved out of the house nearly 40 years ago, having lived with paranormal activity for a decade—and claiming to experience the ghost of a woman with a broken neck, being possessed, or levitated—the so-called Conjuring House still stands. And it remains occupied by the living, and perhaps also by spirits of the dead.
Which is why paranormal investigators and producers Amy Bruni, Adam Berry, as well as psychic/medium Chip Coffey,...

There’s nothing like hunting for the dead on a show that is live — and that takes us to one of the country’s most legendary spooky cities — Salem, Massachusetts — on the Travel Channel’s “Haunted Salem: Live,” a four-hour paranormal lover’s dream stakeout on Oct. 4.
Led by a team of the network’s biggest paranormal experts — Katrina Weidman and Jack Osbourne (“Portals to Hell”), Amy Bruni, Adam Berry and Chip Coffey (“Kindred Spirits”), Dalen Spratt, Juwan Mass and Marcus Harvey (“Ghost Brothers: Haunted Houseguests”), Dave Schrader and Cindy Kaza (“The Holzer Files”) — the immersive event will investigate the ghostly activity at three historic locations tied to the infamous Salem Witch trials.
And the coolest part? Through an on-location, live video stream, fans can monitor the activity on Travel Channel’s Facebook live feed and comment and tell the investigators, “Look out behind you!” and “Uhhhh… did you hear that?...

Ghosts, spirits, entities, phantoms, lost souls, shadow people, demons, apparitions… whatever you want to call them, Travel Channel has enough programming about them lined up in October to keep you spooked all month long. The big question is, if ghosts really do exist, why is everyone so obsessed with them?
Travel Channel has become a sort of Paranormal Headquarters, where the mission is to get viewers screaming from now until Halloween. Their “Ghostober” programming has, count ‘em, 16 creepy events rolling out that’ll have you sleeping with the lights on.
“We start October with a live event where we have most of our talent from across different shows come together. I call them the Avengers of paranormal investigation,” Travel Channel’s general manager Matthew Butler tells TheWrap.
So, that said, psychic and paranormal expert Chip Coffey warns all the ghosts hiding out there, “Damn the torpedoes, we’re comin’ for you!

A normal investigation into Travel Channel's paranormal investigators reveals they are Kindred Spirits.
You're never alone when you grow up in a haunted house. This could lead to embarrassment as you hit adolescence, but unless there's serious poltergeist activity, the experience is usually fairly mundane. What's haunting the house that inspired The Exorcist? Psychic medium Chip Coffey has an idea.
"They're demons," he says in an exclusive preview for the upcoming Exorcism: Live!, a special that will broadcast Coffee, Bishop James Long and the Tennessee Wraith Chasers trying to cleanse the home outside of St. Louis. "They're Satan's minions. They're his worker bees, his drones."
The night before Halloween, Coffey is tasked with conducting a séance with whatever is possessing the house – and he says the worst-case scenario is that "all hell will break loose" during the first-ever live exorcism on TV.

I've always hoped that I might one day see something so alien in composition as to be utterly dazzling -- Bigfoot, a chupacabra, a ghost, or a UFO would be cool. Sadly, I've yet to come across anything of this ilk.
And so, in an effort to satiate this appetite, I used to stream a variety of paranormal talk radio shows off the Net. What became clear was that people were reporting and discussing subjective realities as opposed to objective ones. This is fine, and on a spiritual and mystical level, which is where I place paranormal phenomena, makes perfect sense to me, but the preponderance of the calls had the scent of desperation, even mental illness to them. In these cases it wasn't' "seeing is believing" but "believing is seeing," and listening to them day after day began to feel like living in an insane asylum.

While the brand new movie Paranormal Activity is, er, knocking 'em dead at the box office, other ghostly spirits have been haunting us for centuries - and not all of them should be welcomed with open arms, according to experts. Appearing on a special Halloween edition of CNN's Larry King Live Friday, a host of ghosthunters, paranormal activists and psychics - as well as ghost victim Joan Rivers and Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd and his séance authority father, Peter Aykroyd - debunked the disbelievers, often with jaw-dropping stories. Rivers delivered a seriously convincing account about how a malicious spirit was...

By now, we've all seen the trailers of creepy shadow people, a boy with strange writing all over his body, and women screaming when the shower curtain attacks them. All this, and more, is the movie The Haunting in Connecticut, and to top it off, there's that ubiquitous tag: "Based on a true story." But just how much of what is depicted in the movie is true? Who was the family, and what really happened in that house? The answers to those questions are complicated and, much like other "true" stories, mired in controversy.
The Story:
In 1986 Carmen and Al Snedeker moved to the small town of Southington, Connecticut, with the purpose of being closer to the hospital at which their oldest son was being treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Having fallen on hard financial times, the family jumped at the chance to rent what appeared to be the perfect house.
