What attracted you to the role of Jules and the story of 6:45?
I liked how real the relationship between Jules and Bobby felt. I liked her authenticity. Also, it was a chance to work with my real-life partner, Michael Reed. We have real chemistry, and it contributed to the believability of our roles.
What kind of preparation did you do for the role and story? Were there any specific reference movies or books that Craig Singer suggested?

"Something happened on the island a few years ago." Well Go USA has revealed another official trailer for time loop horror thriller 6:45, made by filmmaker Craig Singer. This already opened last year, apparently although we never heard about it, and it lands on DVD coming up in March (which is what this new trailer is for). What if one of the best days of your life suddenly turned into your very worst nightmare? What if you were forced to relive that same day again and again? A couple embarks on a weekend getaway only to find the island curiously deserted. After stumbling upon the town’s dark secret, they trigger a time loop, forcing them to relive a demented cycle of terror with seemingly no means of escape. Photo: ‘6:45' ‘6:45’ brings a new definition to insanity and loop horror stories with its masterful direction by Craig Singer. In this loop film, the characters end up driving themselves to insanity in pursuit of a solution that only they possess with their varying, swirling deja vu powers. Using repetition in movies means directors find themselves using loop stories to add an element of comedy and hysterical exasperation, but ‘6:45’ did the opposite by utilizing it as a tool to create this traumatic and haunting storyline. The director and former Disney creative executive Singer said the agreement marks the first time since the pandemic that the nation’s second largest chain has supported an independent horror release.
“As the country comes out of the pandemic, we can all use an escape from reality, and nothing does that quite like the movies. We’re thrilled that Regal will be distributing 6:45, giving [it] widest possible audience,” said Singer.
“There is only one way to truly enjoy a horror movie and that is on the big screen,” said Rob Westerling, Regal’s head film buyer. “Through our partnership with Cascrator Film & Media [Singer’s production company], we are excited to bring our guests the psychological thriller 6:45. This...

Director Craig Singer dropped us a line to let us know about his new video entitled Shit Zombies Say, which isn't quite a short film... more like part of a bigger event. Read on for the details (scarce though they might be) and to see it for yourself.
While it’s not Alan Smithee this time, Singer has taken the pseudonym “Jonah” for this project, which is a reference to the masked villain in his 2006 horror-thriller Dark Ride.
What we have here is a comedic look at the Hollywood undead featuring what looks to be a zombie Howard Stern portrayed by Ron Brawer — certainly an old-school zombie who doesn’t “work fast” and prefers to be shot (not in the head of course) in black and white.
Sources close to the production are saying to stay tuned, which you know we'll do. In the meantime feast on Shit Zombies Say.

For those that listen to Fango Radio (now on Sirius Stars Too channel 108), you might have heard the new trivia segment we have on the program. Director Craig Singer (Perkins' 14), in a burst of inspiration, dubbed the new trivia challenge “Tony’s Bloody Stump.” The Tony referred to is of course our own legendary horror spermologist, Tony Timpone. No, that doesn’t mean he works at The Sperm Bank of New York. It means that he is a collector of trivia and his collection, contained entirely in his head, is one of the more impressive mental databases this side of the pond. To most of us, the knowledge we’ve acquired over years of watching horror does nothing more than reveal that we have way too much time on our hands. Why should I know what kind of automobile the devil inhabits in The Car? Why do I know who directed Neon Maniacs?...

Chicago – Lionsgate and After Dark Films’ recently released their third collection of “8 Films to Die For” and this year proved to be the most uninspiring octet to date. With fewer risks taken than the last two years and less extreme failures or successes, “After Dark Horrorfest III” is terrifyingly dull.
Overall DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0 What makes this year’s collection rather forgettable is the lack of extremes on either side of the rating spectrum. The first two years produced some truly excellent genre gems including “Borderland,” “The Hamiltons,” and “The Abandoned.” At the same time, movies like “Dead Lake,” “Undead,” and “Nightmare Man” should be buried in a deep hole and never see the light of day again.
I have to admit that I liked the variety in quality of the last two years more than this year, when nearly every film registered as forgettable more than good or bad. There was one notable standout,...

If there's one thing you can say about cinephiles, it's that we're usually way too critical of the tireless filmmakers who pour their hearts and souls into failed projects. Needless to say, many filmmakers can get pretty darn discouraged, and slither away to solitude. Remarkably, however, it seems there's at least one guy out there who refuses to lie down and take our cinephile shit! Instead he's chosen to listen carefully, embrace fan creativity -- and decode sometimes indecipherable online comments! Director Craig Singer is leading a cult of bloodthirsty fans ready to pitch ideas, screen test and mock up posters for his latest horror project. In 2007, Singer, along with After Dark films and Massify.com, went on the...

Ever since it took off three decades ago with the likes of Halloween and Friday The 13th, the teen-slasher subgenre has been an unstoppable force in horror cinema. These films are a pleasure for certain scream fans and regular Friday-night moviegoers alike—and not a guilty one, despite what they’ve become. The youth-stalker flicks of today have become formulaic and largely substance-free, with the same group of annoying characters being (thankfully) killed off in pretty much the same order under the same circumstances.
So what keeps us coming? Even though they’ve been done to death, some of these killfests—such as Dark Ride, (part of the After Dark Horrorfest)—are simply done well. Director Craig Singer, who penned the film with Robert Dean Klein, doesn’t deviate much from the formula but rather embraces it, taking us on a far-from-perfect but fun and bloody ride.

Director: Craig Singer.
Writer: Lane Shadgett and Jeremy Donaldson.
Massifys "Ghosts in the Machine," contest was won by scriptwriter Jeremy Donaldson, who is the producer of "Perkins 14," and his nostalgic poster, a throwback to the 70s was a centerpiece from which the film saw development. Another "Afterdark Horrorfest III," series presentation "Perkins 14," was given a late March 2009 DVD release and stars two other "Ghosts in the Machine," casting contest winners; Shayla Beesley and Katherine Pawlak. Donaldson, who shot his miniature feature and contest winner mainly with a DVX100a miniDV camera has found most of his influences from films like; "Night of the Living Dead," "The Crow," and "28 Days Later," each of which can subtly be seen in this zombie film without zombies.

I'm now halfway through Lionsgate's After Dark Horrorfest III box and I must say, so far I'm impressed with this year's offerings. However, we received the box a little too late to craft in-depth reviews of each film by Monday so I decided to take a shorter look at each film in two big mega-posts.

Craig Singer, director of two Horrorfest titles, Dark Ride (pictured) and Perkins’ 14, got to chatting with Fearnet during the New York Comic Con and discussed two new films he’s working on, one of which is a top-secret remake of a zombie film.
"It's a film that's one of my favorite films growing up as a kid,” Singer told the site. ”It's one of the vintage classic films that's going to turn a lot of heads. I was really kind of shocked that it hadn't been revisited. A lot of times films are remade and redone and it doesn't feel quite right; this is an instance where it kind of does feel right. Certain films are kind of taboo, but this film is something that I think fans are going to really appreciate. I can't wait to start working on it."
I’m curious as to what it could be...

Fango got a first look at cover art for the Weinstein Company and Genius Products’ DVD release of Martyrs. Surprisingly, Pascal Laugier’s much-talked-about gorefest will be going out under the Weinstein label, not as one of its Dimension Extreme titles.
The movie, in which two young women confront torturous terrors in their past and present, will nonetheless be uncut and unrated when it hits DVD April 28. Special features, if any, have yet to be announced; we’ll keep you posted. See our exclusive set report on Martyrs and interview with writer/director Laugier in Fango #281, on sale in February.
We also got the initial news from Lionsgate Home Entertainment about special features for its After Dark Horrorfest titles coming March 31 (see covers and pre-order links here). All of the movies will be presented in widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, accompanied by Miss Horrorfest webisodes. As of now, the most...

In the sense of both premise and inception, Perkins’ 14 is arguably the most interesting of the 8 Films to Die For in this year’s After Dark Horrorfest. It was born out of an on-line competition on massify.com, where a fan-submitted pitch, a portion of the cast and even the poster (which turned out great) were voted upon.
Once decided, After Dark hired director Craig Singer (who helmed the previous Horrorfest title Dark Ride) and writer Lane Shadgett to develop a film from the winning idea. So while it may be a stretch to call the film highly anticipated, it was definitely up there on the list of 8 Films to see how it turned out.
Perkins’ main story takes place in the town of Stone Cove, which, a decade prior, was the site of 14 abductions of various children, all of whom were never heard from or seen again. On the...

Now that we’ve all had a chance to see Craig Singer’s follow up to Dark Ride, the Horrorfest feature Perkins’ 14, I’m sure the prominent question in everyone’s mind is; what is he doing next? Well, I’m glad you asked!
”My partner Chris Williams and I are doing a film with Warner Brothers called Fear 101, that's the working title.” the director told Bloody Good Horror in a recent interview, ”It's really going to take the user-generated element to the next level, even moreso than "Perkins 14", and give the fans an extremely robust opportunity to kind of participate in the feature film. We're very excited about that, I always wanted to do a film with Warner Brothers, and we're just starting the process as we speak so I'm pretty psyched.”
So what the hell is it about? Presumably a school that teaches its students how to be killers,...

One of the most intriguing entries the third annual After Dark Horrorfest, running January 9-15 at theaters nationwide, looks to be Perkins’ 14. The nature of its inception—it was born out of an on-line competition in which horror fans submitted their own pitches, voted for cast members and even designed the poster—has made the film eagerly anticipated by the fear community.

After Dark Films gave Fango the first advance peek at the trailer for Craig Singer’s Perkins’ 14; check it out below. The movie is one of the 8 Films to Die For in After Dark’s Horrorfest III, running in theaters nationwide January 9-15.
This is one of two Horrorfest flicks (the other is The Slaughter) produced expressly for the series, and the first to be produced in conjunction with Massify as a fan-sourced feature. An on-line competition led Jeremy Donaldson’s Perkins pitch to be selected for production, and the movie (scripted by Lane Shadgett) was also partially cast via on-line auditions. The titular Perkins is a man who witnessed the murders of his parents when he was a child, and has since transformed abducted victims into his brainwashed protectors should his own life ever be threatened. When Perkins is killed by police, his “followers” are unleashed to go on a murderous rampage.
