A lot of fans are excited about Warner Bros.’ Space Jam 2, but apparently a lot of the NBA athletes aren’t. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Lebron James, who will star in and produce the movie, is having trouble recruiting players to be in the movie. He’s been making an effort, but only a few players have signed on.
Windhorst explained:
"In all honesty, he's been recruiting players to come and try to be in Space Jam with him this summer and he hasn't been able to close some of those deals. He's recruiting for his movie as well as he is for the Lakers."
When asked which NBA players James has been trying to get on board the film Windhorst said, "I'm not going to say right now but let's just say it's the top players."

Cleverly expanding upon the narrative set-up from his short film '92 Skybox Alonzo Mourning Rookie Card, Todd Sklar takes the story of two hapless brothers brought together by their father's funeral and shows us the aftermath. Awful Nice essentially begins with a replay of '92 Skybox Alonzo Mourning Rookie Card, as Jim (James Pumphrey) tracks his brother Dave (Alex Rennie) and bribes him into returning to Minnesota for their father's funeral. It quickly becomes apparent why these two siblings have grown so far apart. They do not like each other -- you might even say that they detest each other. Fist fights and wrestling matches are inevitable, but after their father's funeral they still decide to go on a road trip together to Branson, Mo. Why? Well, they plan on selling their family's summer home in order to cash in on their inheritance.

With Awful Nice, that short has now seen the feature adaptation treatment, and if the small version had you chuckling, the super-sized package will have you in stitches As seen in 92Samrc, the story begins when Jim (James Pumphrey) finds his brother Dave (Alex Rennie) passed out in a wigwam and bribes him into driving back to Minnesota with him to attend their father's funeral. Drinking contests turn into fist fights and eventually Jim and Dave set out for Branson,...

The Obama campaign is bringing in NBA heavyweights Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning and Carmelo Anthony to boost the president's fundraising efforts.
A new campaign contest announced on Tuesday, dubbed the "Obama Classic," gives supporters a chance to win two tickets to attend an event featuring the basketball stars and Obama. Its only caveat: Make a $3 donation to the campaign.
It's a tactic the Obama campaign employed with great success when it ran a similar contest for a fundraiser at the home of actor George Clooney in May. Supporters donated an average of $23 in hopes of winning a ticket to the event -- propelling the fundraiser's total haul to $15 million when coupled with the $40,000 individual tickets.
The campaign had originally planned a star-studded "Obama Classic Basketball Game" last year, but the event was postponed when a lockout resulted in a shortened NBA season.

"This Dave Chappelle set is bizarre," CNN reporter Roland S. Martin tweeted Friday night while at former NBA star Alonzo Mourning's Zo's Summer Groove fundraiser. Seth Browarnik/Startraks It’s another boy for former Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning and wife Tracy! The 39-year-old basketball star welcomed his third child — and second son — on Friday, September 18th. Alijah Harden Mourning arrived at 4:28 p.m., weighing in at 8 pounds and measuring 20 inches in length.
Pronounced similar to Elijah, the Miami Herald reports that the couple chose the unique spelling in order to give Alijah the same initials as his dad and 13-year-old big brother Alonzo III. He will also be welcomed by big sister Myka Sydney, 8 ½, at home.
The pregnancy was announced in June, with Tracy celebrating her baby shower last month.

Jerry Powers -- the co-founder of Ocean Drive magazine who was bought out in 2007 by Niche Media -- is ready to get back in the game. Powers filed a suit Wednesday in Miami federal court to overturn a noncompete contract he signed. He claims it should expire in November, two years from the date of the sale. Niche lawyers say the clock didn't start running until Powers left Ocean Drive's payroll last February. Confusing the issue, Powers is also suing to publish a not-for-profit magazine he's been working on with underprivileged kids at the Overtown Youth Center, founded by Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning.

Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade kicked off the festivities Friday for the 13th edition of Summer Groove at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Mourning started the weekend event in 1997 and Wade added his name and charity to the event last year. Proceeds benefit Wade's World and Alonzo Mourning Charities.
Both star athletes' charities lend support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations. Some recent beneficiaries include the Overtown Youth Center and Honey Shine, which was organized by Mourning's wife and "looks to empower young girls to shine like women."
"It's all about the kids, man. We can have to let them know they have to keep going and encourage them to make better decisions," said Mourning.
