Inception (2010)
Outrageously great!
Out of all the Christopher Nolan movies, I like this one the best! The story and script is remarkable. The CGI action sequences we're at the height of their time. Movies today I am still the same output of production when making CGI movies. This movie was the platform or pillar for movie actions scientific genres that were accelerated in the early 2010 era. Leo is typical Leo. Wish to say the least is very very good. Every single roll he does. Tom Hardy also had a good role. Jason Gordon Levitt was great. Elliot page and Mariaon were awesome too.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
My favorite episode of GOT
By far my most favorite episode in the entire series. The suspense the climax face in the action with the undead is fantastic. However the only thing that kind of sucks is it's very dark and contrast in the picture. Bad reviews are from bad viewers . This episode is great and the best one possible s
. That's why these people are professional movie critics.
Private Parts (1997)
Screw the bad ratings !
Most of the bad ratings are probably people who actually know Howard Stern in person and rated his movie. This movie is an iconic classic of radio show broadcast history. Howard Stern is the goat. Of shock jock. Also the innovator for people nowadays, especially entertainers who do other radio cast podcasts and simulcasts.
Sabotage (2014)
Underrated B movie
Despite top paying cast . The production seems lack luster . The gun fight scenes and what not . I actually really liked this movie . Don't think it was as good a street kings . Street kings was filmed better . Doesn't look like DAvid Ayer put in a lot of time with this movie . Although his trademark of high pace fast violence and climatic endings , like 'End Of Watch' definitely some flaws to this movie during the action sequences. All in all I liked this movie . Some might not . It sort of looks like a low budget film . The camera angles and special effects are cheap . The blood is pretty gruesome . I mean it's not like T2 or Avatar or World War Z which all three of actors a d actresses are in this film.
Andy Irons: Kissed by God (2018)
Andy Irons is a surf legend...
Very inspirational, but sad film about the the life and death of Kaui local pro surfing star Andy Irons , older brother to Bruce Irons. He beat 6 time world champion Kelly Slater in the 2003 pipeline finals . The movie was filmed to show the audience and fans Andy's demons , narrated by his brother Bruce and wife Lyndie . When I first heard of Andy Irons I thought he was a good surfer , but just another Peter Mel looking type dude , who would compete against Kelly and lose . I was wrong . I remember watching and hearing about the pipe masters and how he won and beat Kelly. Little did I know or ever think that him and his brother used drugs and hard drugs at that . I've heard lots of stories of Hawaiians getting hooked on crystal meth and what not . Hearing about Andy's death was a tragedy. Even if you don't surf or follow the sport this is a very inspiring film to watch , especially if you suffer from mental disorders such as bipolar , anxiety and manic depression. The film entails the brothers youth , to their teens , and to the Andy's pro career . The ending is sad with a positive ending message . This is definitely one of the top surfing films of the post late 2010 pre 2020 covid era . This film and the one about Bethany, are probably the two best surf docs to watch . Enjoy !
Game of Thrones: Mother's Mercy (2015)
Definitely one hell of a season finale
5 key characters story arch's change dramatically. Stannis gets what was coming to him . Arya learns the hard way , not to betray the many face god . Cersei with her walk of atonement and humiliation . Things don't look good for Dani as her drogo is wounded and can't fly her back to her people . And last but not least John Snow come on now couldn't believe what DB Weiss and David Bennoff do to John snow . And on top of it all the lil kid chips in . A MUST watch episode. You'll not be disappointed.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Garbage
They should stop making all the adaptations of Star Wars and just retire the franchisee . If George Lucas couldn't do it after 1,2,3 then there's no point in going on . I'll watch 4,5,6 !
Step Into Liquid (2003)
Rewatched this again
Saw it when it first came out . I'd say it's in the top ten for actual real life surf movies . Dana brown , son of Bruce brown aka Endless summer . This film is in HD I believe or maybe 480 but had good resolution compared to old format of Endless summer 2 .
There are some epic surf sessions and segments in this film . The Malloy bros in Ireland was awesome . I like the girl section with Rochelle Ballard . Laird Hamilton obviously has some serious footage in this film with big wave riding and also the "hydrofoil" board . Most of well known top pro surfers of the early 2000s are in this film . The music and soundtrack is good also . They film different locations of the world . Pretty much every ocean and even the Great Lakes and some rivers .
To me the most touching and inspirational story part , was Jesse who was a pro or upcoming pro at one point , who injured his back surfing. He is permanently paralyzed. They help him out ( Rob Machado) and friends push him into waves belly riding his surf board . That part really hits home , losing a uncle to MS , who was in a wheelchair before he died .
Some great footage of Taj , Kelly , Robert August , also the Santa Cruz surfers like Peter Mel and Skindog and Barney . The last scene is in South America in Chile .
I really get jealous however , being a pro surfer to travel around the world to beautiful places to surf and that's their job , that's the only drawback about watching This .
I've surfed Southern California since I was 16 , it's fun and great . But I might possibly ever surf places like Costa Rica , Tahiti , or Hawaii every year like pro surfers do , I'm sure most people who surf and then 9-5 feel the same way . But that's why we watch these films is to get stoked ! Enjoy.
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
An Emotional master piece .
Sort of a sad movie . Watched it again in 2021 . Great work by Will Smith nonetheless.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Crazy ass stunts !
Keanu does it again . The Fight scenes were epic ! Reminds me of a Bruce lee movie the martial arts aspect of it
The Insider (1999)
Not a typical Michael Mann movie
I remember hearing about this story on the news I was in high school . Seems like a long time ago . This is a very interesting movie to say the least . There's very little story arc so you basically watch and learn what the premise is behind the movie . "Big tobacco " the film quality is not of a typical Michael Mann style being used in action films such as HEAT and COLLATERAL.
However I found the film very interesting and intriguing with a documentary sort of feel to it. One thing I can say is the acting is superb . Russell Crowe, Al Pacino and Christopher Plummer give A+ performances . So with out further adieu if you haven't seen the film (22 years old) watch it today !
John Wick (2014)
Best Keanu Movie
Keanu Reeves is an acquired taste of an actor. Not a whole lot of dialogue and he plays the same character pretty much every movie he does. However he performs all his own stunts .He only does certain scripts that fit his acting capacity. I truly love this movie , it's a great movie. Despite any knocks Keanu Reeves usually gets for not being an exceptional actor. I think he's a very exceptional actor based on the work that he does. I love this movie it's great please watch it..
Into the Wild (2007)
A truly inspirational movie .
We've all gone camping . But Chris Mc candliss takes it to a whole other level . Fresh out of college Chris has somewhat of a troubled home life with his mother and father, only bond he has is with his sister .He ventures off on his own ,burning all of his money and abandoning his vehicle. He walks , hikes , kayaks , hitchhikes or train hops to where he's going. Working only to gain travel money he goes from place to place but main destination is the wild ,in Alaska . This is a miraculous true story and I don't want to give away all the details in case you haven't watched this film. Kudos to Emile Hersch ,most likely performing a majority or all of his stunts
Boomerang (1992)
Surprisingly good
Thought it would be another cheasey dating flick with critically acclaimed actors but the story was good and intriguing. I watched the whole film through . Maybe won't watch it more than twice . Kind of like a 50 shades of gray type vibe to it . A powerful man who gets all the ladies but doesn't want to settle down and commit until the end of the film . Halle Berry OMG is all I gotta say .
The Wire (2002)
The Black Sopranos
If you like Sopranos you'll love the wire . A must see show .
Casino (1995)
My favorite
Definitely my favorite Scorsese flick. It's a morality car wash . I'll have to read the book soon . I first watched this movie in high school . Raging Bull, goodfellas , departed , wolf of wall street and this film is Martin "score" sesse best films . I could turn on the tv just to listen to the music
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Very Okay
I liked Jesse Plemons as Todd but he gained a ton of weight since the 2013 season finale. It was almost seven years ago . With El Camino I feel there is closesure to a great franchise from Vince Gilligan . As a fan I hope they put it to bed and write something else . Hey he's great with Aaron Paul so maybe they will come up with something new . But I'm done with BB it was a great series that can't be touched . Everyone says they can only watch it once but I've watched it about 4 x since it went off the air the entire season. I think binge watching is the way to go with BB . It's like a novel and every chapter gets better and better . As for better call Saul I liked that as well . But without Walt aka heisenberg there's not much more you can do with this franchise . They had a great run almost topping the Sopranos in my opinion a very hard toss up but apples and oranges .
As for el Camino . I liked it . I thought it was good . But no way as good as breaking bad . Still felt there was a lot left out but what else could they tell about Pinkmans story ? Some of the plot is subpar . The part when Pinkman deals with the welder that supposedly welded the bars on the ceiling of Todd and uncles jacks super lab .... The part with Jesse Plemons he did real well equally as good as Aaron Paul . He has a bright future . Breaking bad is such an incredible story that I won't doubt if Vince Gilligan writes another story about BB
Breaking Bad (2008)
The story Arch for this show is absolutely incredibly good....
From a dorky chemistry teacher , loving husband , soft dad , who gets lung cancer . Pairs up with Jesse Pinkman to cook the purest methamphetamine. Along the way Walt rises to the top of a criminal mastermind and empire . But it all goes south . Truly an incredible book of written almost feel like a novel that you watch on TV. Some of it is disturbing to regular viewers so discretion is advised .
Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980)
Very funny my favorite of the three
Some of these reviewers don't understand the CNC legacy in comedy . These two were doing it long before Eddie Murphy , Dave Chappell Or Chris Rock . Cheech and Chong started their careers in stand up . This movie might not be considered a better film than up in smoke it proves to be a good sequel . I love this movie and can watch it equally as much as Up in smoke . Obviously for non pot smoker viewers the film is definitely biased in target audience, but fans who don't smoke can equally find these films funny . These two Cheech and Chong aka Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are now in their 70s and 80s. This film was made in 1980 the year I was born . Keep in mind I watched this on VHS .
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Reminds me of the Fast N Furious deterioration
I knew this film would NOT be better than the first 2 . This is a classic franchise but reminds me of the Fast N furious genre when every movie they make after the first one gets worse and worse even though it has the same super star actors . Definitely not having Michael Bay direct the film was a huge mistake . I think if he directed it would have been a much better movie . The cinematography was nothing special and very lacking in a pathetic way . I've seen TV shows with better camera angles than the ones they shot in this picture . The acting was okay . Will Smith has still got it . I like the cute Hispanic chick actors . The white dude from the Lone Survivor was good . Martin Lawrence looks old and he has gained a lot of weight especially in the face . He didn't strike me as funny in certain scenes as he did in the previous 2 Bad Boys . The story was okay sucks Joe Pantolonis character gets shot . The story doesn't have to be that dynamic for a bad boys film but the directing has to be! And it wasn't ! All in all this movie was pretty boring and I wouldn't rewatch it like I did when I enjoyed the first two.
Per un pugno di dollari (1964)
Love this flick
Can't believe Clint is turning 90 . He's a legend beyond legends . I saw this movie when I was ten years old . Just watched it recently .one of the best of the spaghetti westerns I think . Great ending .
Ghostbusters (1984)
If you don't like this film there is something wrong with you
Best paranormal comedy ever ! Rest In Peace Harold Ramis. I watched this movie when I was 5 years old .
Donnie Brasco (1997)
I love this movie
Goodfellas , Casino , and Donnie Brasco by far my top 3 mob movies of the 1990s
Goodfellas (1990)
Can't believe this movie is 30 years old
Better than The Godfather in my opinion. A classic trademark film for a lifetime . Scorsese's best film by far .
Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable (2018)
Screw Ronda Rousey, Bethany is the women's top
Athlete considering she lost an arm by a huge tiger shark. All that aside I love the way she surfs . A true athlete and competitor and professional. The film was great . I felt like it was better than Kobe Bryant's documentary. And she does this all with a missing limb . The end is touching she works with other people with missing limbs. I can't even imagine getting out of bed, making coffee , let alone surfing huge waves and training plus she raises a child . Props Bethany ! I'm a huge fan !
