Fool's Paradise (2023)

Loved it!!

Went in with very little expectations. Literally knew nothing about the movie, just saw the cast and thought I'd give it a shot. Glad I did. It was extremely entertaining from beginning to end. Didn't find out till after that it was written and directed by Charlie Day which makes total sense after seeing the movie. He was amazing in the movie. This will probably be the pinnacle of his career, having supporting actors like Ray Liotta, John Malkovich, Kate Beckinsale, and Adrien Brody to name a few. I can definitely see why all of these actors of this caliber would have wanted to be in this movie. I highly recommend this movie.

Don't Look Up (2021)

Woke Hyperbole, not Satire

This movie went WAY out of its way to imply all Republicans are morons and will destroy the world. That's the entire movie in a nutshell. If you watch propaganda like Rachel Maddow Don Lemon, you'll probably like this.

The Borat movies take a shot at the right, but it's actually well done and really funny, especially in the first movie. It's not so "in your face" and obvious. I knew Meryl was portraying a Republican President after her first sentence, first scene she was in. All the other characters were just as obvious and overdone. I can only imagine the writer was in the middle of a full TDS meltdown after finding out Russiagate was a hoax, and this script was a direct result of their subsequent temper tantrum. Hard pass.

Hopefully Adam McKay can get back to making good movies now that Biden has been elected and is "saving the country". Lol.

The Mortuary Collection (2019)

Great anthology horror flick!

We really like this one. Girl goes to apply at a mortuary. The super creepy undertaker who interviews her tells her several spooky stories of people's deaths. Hence the anthology. I particularly liked "the babysitter murders". Where you think this sweet young girl is the babysitter who hears of the news that an insane asylum had a people escape. A man is suddenly in the house. Turns out the man was the babysitter and the young girl was the one who escaped the insane asylum.

Anyway, the girl applying to work at the mortuary turns into her own story when it turns out she's a serial murderer that collects her victims teeth. She gets stuck in the mortuary, the undertaker leaves and she becomes the new permanent undertaker, who can't leave. Walk out the front door and you're right back inside.

Pretty good movie with Alicia Silverstone where she kills herself early in the movie so the kids go live with dad and soon to be step mom, a woman who was the sole survivor of a cult mass suicide. They go to a cabin in the woods and kids are left with step mom. Does try to trick step mom that they all died from a space heater. Eventually this back fires and she loses it and goes back to her cult psycho ways.

Pretty good movie where kids are out playing with older brothers samurai sword and they accidentally kill one of the kids. They end up covering it up and the kid that sid it eventually snaps and ends up killing more people.

This movie is DEFINITELY worth watching one or more times. It's a good seasonal Halloween movie. A guy meets up with an old friend. He hears voices telling him there is a war coming and that most people have turned evil. He stays with his friend in his apartment for the duration of the movie going back and forth over whether this is real. He even gets calls from the girl his buddy is dating and thinks she's in on it. There are no boring parts of the movie and you're always wondering if it's real or not. In the end, his buddy lets him tie him up since he thinks the war is coming. He lets him do that for trust. The guy almost pours sulfuric acid over his head during his delusion, but at the last second doesn't. And it turns out it was all a delusion.

Deft mute girl suddenly can speak and hear. She's suddenly performing all kinds of miracles saying it's the work of "Mary". Little does she know these miracles are coming from a dark place, and Mary isn't the holy entity she believes her to be.

The Monster Squad (1987)

Classic 80's horror that should be way more popular than it is.

Goonies type feel of a movie. Kids call themselves the monster squad and fight against a variety of monsters that come to fruition. Wolf man, Frankenstein, swamp thing, Dracula, etc. They fight them all and Frankenstein helps the little girl in the end because they're friends. Fun movie.

Motel Hell (1980)

Top quality 80's horror. Amazing!!!

What more can you ask from an 80's horror movie? They are literally making the best smoked meats and sausages around by mixing smoked human in with the pork. And they're panting the humans in their garden after cutting out their vocal cords. The blonde girl gets in a motorcycle accident with her boyfriend. He dies and for some reason she decides to live with the people that found her. And falls in love with the 70 year old man. 😂. Makes no sense and it's awesome. This ranks up there with "The Stuff".

Angel (1983)

What a weird movie. A teen prostitutes life clashes with a serial killers life. She's best friends with a trans hooker. Mom left her at 12 years old to move with some dude. Strange. Not worth rewatching.

Found footage movie, which I normally don't like, but this one is awesome. Super creepy. Violent. And definitely disturbing. This serial killer is savage and I love that you never find out who it is. Also love that he framed that cop for his crimes who got death penalty. Genius way to add to his kill count.

A bunch of kids decide to have a party at a abandoned old spooky house. Party thrown by ANGELA, who's into the dark arts. Lots of sex and death and show it. Fun.

If you're into fun horror movies, this one is for you. It's about a bunch of semi famous people who end up in a reality show. Only thing is, elimination means death. And usually a pretty gory death. Definitely worth another watch for spooky movie month in October.

Weird movie about brothers who grew up in a cult and left. One brother wants to return. The other doesn't. They go back to find out everyone is stuck in these weird time loops. If you get killed by some weird alien thing inside the borders, you get stuck in a loop. They end up getting out at the last second in the end.

If you love awesome "out there" horror movies like Killer Clowns from Outer Space, then this movie is definitely for you. The ridiculousness of this movie is clearly intentional and borderlines on genius. Bravo to everyone involved. This will certainly be in my regular rotation for October horror movie month from now till eternity.

Italian horror movie about a group who go on a trip in an RV and crash. Turns out one of the guys in the RV planned the whole crash. He was a film student who wanted to murder a bunch of people on camera and turn it into a movie. Ok movie. Wouldn't rewatch it.

Not what I expected. Definitely not horror. Definitely not a typical possession movie. It's about a business that uses technology to posses people to commit murders for financial gain. It was ok. I'll never watch it again.

The Ruins (2008)

Starts off ok. Ultimately about plants that kill people at a secret Mayan Ruin. There's a super hot chick in the film which is a plus. The effects are pretty good. Acting pretty good. Overall premise is just ok. Watch if you're a horror fan looking for something you haven't seen.

I'm sorry, but as a fan of horror, this insults me. This type of BS doesn't make a horror movie. You don't even have to have a good storyline. Just give me new, inventive ideas. That's it. You can even make it funny. I'll laugh. I love it. But RAPING NEWBORNS!!! I can't even think right now this makes me so angry. Anyone who gives this any type of positive rating should be put on some kind of list for the criminally insane.

I'm a HUGE horror movie fan. Was looking for good slasher type movies. Saw this title in several lists for "goriest" movies. FYI to all hard core horror fans like myself...THIS IS NOT A HORROR FILM, or gore..or slasher. I love new, inventive gore with amazing makeup and special effects. Think of the craziest way to kill someone, then make it look real. That's awesome. This movie doesn't do that. They literally slowly torture and kill real live animals!! THAT ISN'T F'ING HORROR!! IT'S SICK!! All of the animal cruelty was completely unnecessary to the story. If you have any desire to watch this, you might be a future serial killer.
