Gladiator (2000)
10/10
Awesome and brutal
23 February 2011
Another Ridley Scott masterpiece, next to Alien, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down etc.

Gladiator packs a lot of punches and drama, with violent arena battle scenes.

The film stars Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Oliver Reed, Richard Harris, etc.

In Gladiator, victorious general Maximus Decimus Meridias (Russell Crowe) has been named keeper of Rome and its empire by dying emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), so that rule might pass from the Caesars back to the people and Senate. Marcus' neglected and power-hungry son, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), has other ideas, however. Escaping an ordered execution, Maximus hurries back to his home in Spain, too late to save his wife and son from the same order. Taken into slavery and trained as a gladiator by Proximo (Oliver Reed), Maximus lives only that he might someday take his revenge and fulfill the dying wish of his emperor. The time soon comes when Proximo's troupe is called to Rome to participate in a marathon of gladiator games held at the behest of the new emperor, Commodus. Once in Rome, Maximus wastes no time in making his presence known, and is soon involved in a plot to overthrow the emperor with his former-love Lucilla (Connie Nielsen, Commodus' sister, after whom he lusts, and also the widowed mother of Lucius, heir to the empire after his uncle, and democratic-minded senator, Gracchus (Derek Jacobi).

Without a doubt, one of the best films I've seen.

Gladiator gets 10 stars.

Inception (2010)
10/10
The Best Film of 2010
7 January 2011
This is why I like Christopher Nolan, His films are the perfect example of exhilarating pieces of cinema, such as Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception is his best he's done.

The film stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Tom Berenger, etc.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo Dicaprio) is able to use his unique skills to his advantage - he can enter people's minds through their dreams and thereby learn their secrets. He is a thief for hire but Japanese businessman Mr. Saito has a somewhat different proposition for him. He wants Cobb to enter the mind of Robert Fischer Jr., who is about to inherit his father's massive business empire, to plant a simple notion: to break-up his father's conglomerate and sell it off. In return, Saito will make it possible for Cobb to freely return to the US where he is currently wanted by the police. Cobb accepts and assembles his team with a plan to plant the idea deep in Fisher's mind by generating a series of dreams within dreams so that he eventually thinks he came up with the idea himself. As the intended deception grows ever more complex, Cobb has to deal with his own emotions and feelings of guilt, which are projecting themselves into the dreamspace. Cobb has to deal with the eventual question of what is real and what is only a dream.

Nolan has a excellent mind in science fiction, this could be the winner of Best Picture who knows?

Inception get 10 stars.

Cool Runnings (1993)
10/10
Great movie!!!
20 December 2010
Disney has a handful of sports films such as The Mighty Ducks films, The Rookie (2002), Remember the Titans (2000), Angels in the Outfield (1994), Invincible (2006), Miracle (2004), etc.

Cool Runnings made me laugh throughout the entire movie.

The film stars John Candy, Leon, Doug E. Doug, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba, etc.

Irving Blitzer (John Candy) disgraced himself when putting extra weights into his team's bob in the Olympics, resulting in his gold medal being taken away from him. Years later, Derice Bannock, son to a former friend of Irv, fails to qualify for the 100-yard sprint for the Olympics due to a stupid accident. But when he hears of Irving Blitzer living also on Jamaica, Derice decides to go to the Games anyway. If not as a sprinter, then as a bobsledder. After some starting problems, the first Jamaican bobsledding team is formed and heads for Calgary. In the freezing weather Derice, Sanka, Junior and Yul are only laughed at, since nobody can take a Jamaican bobsledding team led by a disgraced trainer for serious. But team spirit and a healthy self confidence may lead to a few surprises in the upcoming Winter Games.

This is one heck of a funny movie that I've seen in years.

But too bad that John Candy passed away a year later after this is made, his official last movie for him was Wagon's East, but he did Canadian Bacon before that, but it came out in 1995.

This is another movie you should see, you'll laugh like crazy.

Cool Runnings gets 10 stars.

Absolutely hilarious!!!!!
20 December 2010
I became a Beavis and Butt-head fanatic since it came on MTV, when this movie came out to theaters in 1996, I was thrilled and this movie made me laugh throughout the entire film!!! I was laughing like crazy.

The films stars as a voice cast: Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head, Tom Anderson, Mr. Van Driessen, Principal McVicker), Bruce Willis (Muddy Grimes), Demi Moore (Dallas Grimes), Robert Stack (ATF Agent Flemming), etc.

While awaking from a crazy dream, Beavis and Butt-head soon realize that their TV was stolen from a bunch of thieves, and they were mad, so its them on a journey across America to find their TV, not only that, someone is hold captive of a deadly device that belongs to the FBI, it can be found in Beavis's shorts. While searching for the TV, they stop a motel where Muddy Grimes (voice of Bruce Willis) wants them to get Dallas (voice of Demi Moore) back in relationship, elsewhere, they stop at Tom Anderson's trailer and they screwed up his TV, once they stop at Las Vegas, they found Dallas caught in a terrorist control. Chaos ensues when they mess around with the control panel of the Hoover Dam. While many places to go, they got lost in a desert with two Motley Crue roadies, after that, they nearly die from dehydration until Muddy came up to pick them up to get them to Washington DC. Once they get there, the agents are on the run of the unit. After that's taking care of, Tom Anderson, Muddy and Dallas Grimes were arrested and Beavis and Butt-head saved everybody from total chaos, finally, they found their TV lying on the motel sidewalk.

This is classic Mike Judge at it's best, next to King of the Hill, and the movie Office Space.

One of the funniest scenes in the movie is the Cornholio scene. I can laugh at that all night long. For a movie based cartoon film, it's 1,000,000 times better than that Spongebob Squarepants garbage.

This movie is awesome, you'll laugh like there's no tomorrow.

Beavis and Butt-head Do America gets 10 stars.

Aliens (1986)
10/10
Action Packed!!!!!
21 November 2010
After I saw Alien, I recently watched the sequel which it was directed by James Cameron (The Terminator, Titanic, True Lies, T2 Judgment day, Avatar, The Abyss).

It stars Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Carrie Henn, Lance Henriksen, William Hope, Bill Paxton, etc.

Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor of the alien attack on the mining ship Nostromo, awakens half a century later when she is found by a salvage ship. The welcome given to her by the "Company" officials is far from warm, since they refuse to believe her discovery of alien existence and strip her off her flight officer's license. Ripley also discovers, much to her horror, that the planet LV-426 where her crew had encountered an alien species for the first time, is now colonized by the company. But when all contact from the planet is lost Ripley is called back into action again as an adviser to a team of tough space marines with lots of firepower. To get rid of her recurrent nightmares about the alien creature, Ripley prepares for a final battle with the monsters - and this time, there are hundreds of them out there.

The first movie had more suspense and eerie feeling, but this one will put you on the edge of your seat.

Aliens gets 10 stars.

Alien (1979)
10/10
Best science fiction movie since Star Wars
21 November 2010
This movie really scared me when I first watched it, it was one of the most heart beating, suspenseful films ever. Made by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator, Body of Lies, American Gangster, Robin Hood) It stars Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean, Stanton, John Hurt, etc.

In the near future, during its return to the earth, a commercial spaceship Nostromo intercepts a distress SOS from a distant planet. The seven-member crew are woken up from the hypersleep and the spaceship subsequently descends on the planet. While exploring the planet, a three-member team of the crew discovers a derelict spaceship and a huge chamber inside it containing thousands of eggs. When a curious team member goes too near the egg the parasite inside the egg attacks him, rendering him unconscious. He is brought back aboard, the spaceship takes off. After a little while the parasite dies and his host wakes up seemingly unruffled. But other crew members are unaware of the living nightmare which is going to descend upon them when the alien creature planted inside its unfortunate host would emerge.

A lot of scenes in the film will give you goosebumps, such as the facehugger appearance, and the chestburster scene (which is spoofed in Spaceballs BTW).

Aliens had more action than the first, because there is more suspense and horror in the first. Not to mention the film has awesome special effects.

Alien is truly one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made (Other great sci-fi films: Aliens, Independence Day, Avatar, Transformers, Predator, Star Wars, Back to the Future, etc.) Alien gets 10 stars.

RoboCop (1987)
10/10
This is such an awesome movie
18 October 2010
After I watched RoboCop on TV, I loved it, but when I bought the DVD, I loved it even more!!!!

Since I watched movies on TV, they attend to ruin certain dialog, they have to cut scenes out, dubbing, and content (ex. blood, gore, nudity, language, sexual references). But it's better to get them uncut to see the original movie.

It stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O'Herlihy, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, etc.

After Omni Consumer Products (OCP) announced that it bought out the Detroit police department, the department decides to go on strike. Alex Murphy (Peter Weller), gets transferred from Metro South to the West. He and his partner, Anne Lewis, track down a group of criminals led by Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith). Unfortunately, Murphy was killed by Clarence's gang. Bob Morton, one of OCP's employees, transforms Murphy's corpse into Robocop, to compete with another employee Dick Jones' ED-209. Robocop's tests are successful. Unfortunately, Robocop rediscovers his memories (when he was Alex Murphy), and now knows he has to find and arrest Clarence Boddicker. He realizes that Clarence is working for Bob Morton's competition Dick Jones. Now, Robocop must stop both Clarence and Dick Jones.

As far as his directing goes, it was pretty good when he did Basic Instinct, his directing went downhill when he directed that awful movie Showgirls, but he returns to his roots by directing Starship Troopers.

I have never owned the sequels, Never seen RoboCop 2, but I never liked RoboCop 3.

Overall, one of the best action movies ever made.

RoboCop gets 10 stars.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Amazing movie
4 October 2010
Steven Spielberg has made numerous films that got critical praise such as Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones series, Minority Report, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, etc. Hook was one of Spielberg's least favorite films, But Jurassic Park is an entertaining blockbuster of 1993.

It stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, etc.

John Hammond has developed a dinosaur park (in a very remote Island) using a DNA of a prehistoric dinosaur taken from an ancient insect. In a tour that Hammond makes to a selected audience which suppose to decide whether the park is safe or not safe for public, the security system collapsed, and the dinosaurs set themselves free. Now the selected audience, in the leadership of Doctor Grant (Sam Neill) and include Doctor Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Doctor Sattler (Laura Dern), Hammond's grandchildren, and some more has to survive in the Island.

No Jurassic Park sequel can beat this original piece of art.

Overall, very cool, and very smart film.

Jurassic Park gets 10 stars.

Welcome back, John McClane
1 October 2010
After 20 years since the first Die Hard came out in 1988, it was brought back again as the final film in the series, Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die hard 4.0)

It stars Bruce Willis, Timothy Olyphant, Justin Long, Maggie Q, Kevin Smith, Cliff Curtis, etc

NYPD Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) lives in Brooklyn, and he's now divorced from Holly Gennero, who lives in San Francisco. John has faced some brutal terrorists in his career, but now, he's about to face what may be his most dangerous enemy yet. John, who occasionally does jobs for the United States Department of Homeland Security, receives a call to bring in a hacker named Matt Farrell (Justin Long), because there has been a breach in an FBI computer system. Farrell is one of the many hackers who are suspected in the attack, and all known hackers are to be questioned. But after John gets to Matt's apartment, a group of men show up and try to kill John and Matt, who barely escape with their lives. As it turns out, a group of cyberterrorists led by Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) are systematically shutting down the United States computer infrastructure. They crash the stock market, crippling America's economy. It turns out that Matt knows enough about hacking to know exactly how Gabriel is shutting down the USA. Gabriel, a disgraced former Department of Defense employee, plans to bring the country to its knees, but he doesn't count on John and Matt figuring out what's going on. Gabriel wants John and Matt out of the way, and for John, the situation becomes personal when an enraged Gabriel kidnaps John's daughter Lucy, who is a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Gabriel may think he now has the upper hand on John, but he has no idea how far John is willing to go to rescue Lucy.

You will never be bored watching these movies, they put you on the edge of your seat like Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Overall, awesome movie.

Live Free or Die Hard gets 10 stars.

Collateral (2004)
10/10
Totally awesome film
1 October 2010
The Bourne Supremacy, The Day After Tomorrow, Spider Man 2, Million Dollar Baby, The Aviator, Ray, I, Robot, what's next? Oh yeah, Collateral, one of the best action films ever.

It stars Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Mark Ruffalo, Jada Pinkett Smith, Javier Bardem, etc.

For Max (Jamie Foxx), the dreams of his own limo company are what keep him afloat from the mundane reminder of his real job: taxi driver, which he has been doing for over a decade. But one fateful night, Max has one cab fare that he would never expect named Vincent (Tom Cruise). He's a smooth, charismatic fellow who is sharply dressed and apparently wealthy, offering Max an excellent tip if he'll bring him to five stops throughout Los Angeles. But fate intervenes and Max soon finds out that Vincent isn't a businessman, but a contract hit-man making his rounds. As the night progresses, Max finds himself under the microscope of a coldblooded killer. Meanwhile, the police and FBI are onto Max's cab while the two ultimately play a psychological cat and mouse game, that will lead to an inevitable climax neither would anticipate.

Cruise and Foxx played their roles very well, the film was also violent and very exhilarating, especially the taxi cab barrel roll flip, and the night club fight.

Collateral is one to check out, you won't be disappointed.

Collateral gets 10 stars.

Truly one of the best of 1996
30 September 2010
After I've seen Star Trek from 2009, I decide to get Star Trek: First Contact at FYE for 5 dollars (pretty good price). It's absolutely stunning and totally amazing.

It stars Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes (also directed), Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Alice Krige, Alfre Woodward, James Cromwell, etc.

The time is the 24th century and the ship is the newly commissioned Enterprise-E. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), has been ordered not to interfere in a combat between a Borg Cube and ships from the Federation. However, seeing the Federation is about to lose, Picard ignore his orders and take command of the defending fleet. With his knowledge of the weak spot of the Cube, they destroy it. However, a small part of it escapes and plot a course directly to Earth. The Enterprise chases it and enters a time distortion created by the Borg. They end up in the mid 21st century, their only chance of stopping the Borg from assimilating Earth being to help Zefram Cochrane make his famous first faster than light travel to the stars...

The music made by the late Jerry Goldsmith was amazing, special effects were awesome, acting performances were great.

If you like Independence Day, or Star Trek, you will like this one.

Star Trek: First Contact gets 10 stars.

More edge of your seat fun!
27 September 2010
48 Hrs., Another 48 Hrs., Rush Hour, The Rundown, Lethal Weapon, Cop Out, what do you have next? Another great buddy-cop style action film "with a vengeance", Die Hard With a Vengeance that is.

It stars Bruce Willis, Jeremy Irons, Samuel L. Jackson, Graham Greene, Colleen Camp, etc.

It's a quiet morning in New York City...until a massive bomb explodes in the Bonwit Teller department store, causing several vehicles to flip, and causing several drivers to come to a sudden stop. This throws the NYPD into a frenzy, trying to sort out what's going on. At the station, Inspector Walter Cobb (Larry Bryggman) of the NYPD's major case unit gets a call from a man who calls himself Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons). Simon asks for Lieutenant John McClane (Bruce Willis), and Walter tells Simon that John, who is now an alcoholic, is on suspension. Simon wants John to go to the corner of 138th Street and Amsterdam in Harlem and wear a racist sign. Walter and his fellow officers Joe Lambert (Graham Greene), Connie Kowalski (Colleen Camp), and Ricky Walsh (Anthony Peck) find John, who is now an alcoholic who is separated from his wife Holly, and they talk to him. Ricky tells Walter that there have been 3 killings in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn in the past two nights, and 14 dump trucks were stolen from a construction yard on Staten Island. John wants to know where the backup is going to be, and Walter tells him that the backup will be on 128th Street, 10 blocks away. John complains that 10 blocks is too far away for the backup to be. Walter tells John that Simon has threatened to detonate another bomb if the police don't do what he says. John wants to know why he's been targeted by Simon, but no one knows why. While John is in Harlem, store owner Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson) rescues John from a black street gang that was beating John up because of the sign. John and Zeus find themselves stuck with each other as Simon continues his antics and forces John and Zeus to work together to do what he tells them, but John and Zeus can't stop one of Simon's bombs from blowing up a subway station, and it turns out that Simon is Simon Peter Gruber the brother of Hans Gruber, the terrorist that John rescued the Nakatomi building from in Los Angeles years ago. The question now is, is this about revenge on John, or is Simon planning something a lot bigger?

Another great action movie with amazing effects, stunning subway crash, unexpected humor, and all around fun flick.

Die Hard With a Vengeance gets 10 stars.

An Outstanding sequel
24 September 2010
I got all of the Bourne films on DVD. Out of all of them, this is my favorite!!! Pure action, awesome stunts, and incredible chases.

It stars Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, etc.

Bourne (Matt Damon) is once again brought out of hiding, this time inadvertently by London-based reporter Simon Ross who is trying to unveil Operation Blackbriar--an upgrade to Project Treadstone--in a series of newspaper columns. Bourne sets up a meeting with Ross and realizes instantly they're being scanned. Information from the reporter stirs a new set of memories, and Bourne must finally, ultimately, uncover his dark past whilst dodging The Company's best efforts in trying to eradicate him.

Identity and Supremacy were great films in the Bourne trilogy, but this movie is one of the best action movies ever, and the one of the best of 2007, next to Transformers and Live Free or Die Hard.

No words to say about this movie, it's an action masterpiece.

The Bourne Ultimatum gets 10 stars.

Lethal Weapon (1987)
10/10
Awesome Buddy-cop flick
24 September 2010
After seeing so many R-rated action movies such as Die Hard, Speed, Terminator, etc.

I've recently watched the Lethal Weapon films on DVD, I absolutely loved them. They're great action buddy-cop films.

It stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Mitch Ryan, Tom Atkins, Darlene Love, etc.

Los Angeles police sergeant Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), who has just turned 50 years old, is assigned to investigate the death of Amanda Hunsaker (Jackie Swanson), a prostitute who is one of the daughters of bank president Michael Hunsaker (Tom Atkins), a friend whom Roger has known since they were in the Vietnam War together, but Roger hasn't seen Michael in 12 years. Beginning with this investigation, Roger is assigned a new partner Sergeant Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), who has been suicidal ever since his wife Victoria "Vicky" Lynn Riggs died in a car crash in 1984. Riggs and Murtaugh's investigation of Amanda's death reveals that she was murdered. Upon hearing of this, Michael tells Murtaugh that he would like for whoever is behind Amanda's murder to end up dead, like Amanda. Riggs and Murtaugh's investigation continues and it makes them the targets of Shadow Company, a group of former Vietnam War era mercenaries who now bring heroin into the Los Angeles County region. Shadow Company's leader, General Peter McAllister (Mitch Ryan), and his right hand man, Mr. Joshua, want Riggs and Murtaugh dead, no matter what the cost.

Lethal Weapon 2, 3, 4 were great sequels, especially you have actors such as Joe Pesci, Joss Ackland, Derrick O' Conner, Patsy Kensit, Chris Rock, Jet Li, Rene Russo, etc.

It had some really funny scenes in the movie, that puts you in a hilarious mood.

Movies similar to this were: Die Hard With a Vengeance, 48 Hrs., Rush Hour, Cop Out, etc.

This is a great film, check it out.

Lethal Weapon gets 10 stars.

Jaws (1975)
10/10
A classic shark attack flick.
24 August 2010
This movie put me on the edge of my seat while I was watching it, before there was Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET, Jurassic Park, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones, etc. There was Jaws, a classic killer shark movie with everything with it.

Its based on the novel by Peter Benchley.

It stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Murray Hamilton, Lorraine Gray, etc.

Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) is the new police chief of Amity, an island resort town somewhere in New England. He has a wife named Ellen, and two sons named Michael and Sean. On a Summer morning, Brody is called to the beach, where the mangled body of Summer vacationer Chrissie Watkins (Susan Backlinie) has washed ashore. The medical examiner tells Brody that it could have been a shark that killed Watkins. Mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), who is desperate to not lose the money that will be brought in by 4th of July tourists, wants Brody to say Watkins's death was caused by a motorboat propeller instead of a shark, because the thought of a shark in Amity's waters would drive tourists away from Amity. It looks like Vaughn is a mayor who puts money ahead of people's lives. Shark expert Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) believes Watkins was killed by a shark. Hooper is proved right a few days later, when Alex Kintner is killed by the shark that killed Watkins. Looking for the quickest solution, Vaughn tells all of the local fishermen to let him know if they see the shark. A shark hunter named Quint (Robert Shaw) offers to find the shark and kill it, but Vaughn thinks Quint's price of $10,000 is too high. When a tiger shark is killed and hauled in by a couple of boaters, Vaughn hastily says that the shark crisis is over, but Hooper says the shark that's been killing people a huge great white shark is still in Amity's waters, but Vaughn leaves the beaches opened because all he cares about is the 4th of July tourist money. On the 4th of July, Vaughn encourages people to swim at the beach, and Hooper is proved right again when the shark kills a man, biting the man's leg off. Michael, who was in the water at the time of the attack, is taken to the hospital, where he's treated for shock after watching the shark kill the guy. Brody asks Vaughn to hire Quint to find the shark. Because his own kids were at that beach too, Vaughn agrees to hire Quint to find the shark. Quint, Hooper, and Brody are sent out to sea in Quint's boat, the Orca, ready to do whatever it takes to find the shark.

Nothing beats the original Jaws with the sequels that came out.

John Williams musical score was fantastic, he also did the music for Star Wars, ET, Jurassic Park, etc.

Overall, this movie is just another movie you should see.

Jaws gets 10 stars.

Die Hard (1988)
10/10
This movie is definitely worth it!!!
25 July 2010
After watching "Speed", I decided to watch something more interesting than before, its the movie Die Hard.

It stars Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Alexander Godunov, Bonnie Bedelia, etc.

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is a cop from New York City who is on his way to Los Angeles to see his kids and his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), who moved to LA because of a job at the Nakatomi Corporation. When he arrives at Nakatomi Plaza, he meets Holly's boss Joe Takagi and her co-worker Harry Ellis. He and Holly go into a private bathroom and get into an argument. When Holly leaves to give a speech, thirteen armed terrorists lead by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) seize control of the building and take the occupants of the 30th floor, who are the only ones left in the building, hostage. Luckily, they missed John and he has to figure out how to save the hostages before the terrorists get their way.

Yet, another well made thriller with everything it desires.

It spawned 3 sequels after that was Die Hard 2 (aka Die Harder), Die Hard With a Vengeance (aka Die Hard 3) and Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4).

Overall, a very well done film.

Die Hard gets 10 stars.

Speed (1994)
10/10
Feel the adrenaline rush to this exciting thriller
15 July 2010
After watching the Die Hard trilogy, I decided to buy the action film "Speed", and I was very excited after I watched it the first time.

It stars Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, Sandra Bullock, etc.

Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves) is a young S.W.A.T cop in the Los Angeles police department. One morning Jack witnesses a bus explode and Jack receives a phone call from Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper), a retired Atlanta bomb squad explosives expert gone bad, Payne has wired a passenger bus to explode, where if the bus speeds at 50 miles per hour the bomb is armed, if the bus slows down and drops below 50 miles per hour the bus will explode. Payne demands $3-million dollars and Jack or any of the passengers tries to get off the bus, he will detonate the bomb. Managing to get on the bus, Jack with help of one of the passengers, Annie (Sandra Bullock) who is driving the bus when the driver is injured, tries to keep the passengers alive and guide the bus through the traffic, and keep the bus speeding at 50 miles per hour, as the S.W.A.T team and Jack's partner, explosives expert Harry Temple set to discover Payne's location and find a way to disarm the bomb before the bomb explodes when the bus runs out of gas.

The actors in the film were played very well, especially Reeves and Hoppers roles.

There was a sequel to this called "Speed II: Cruise Control". I have not seen it, nor I will buy it, because, it got poor reviews, Reeves chose not to star in it, no resemblance to the first film.

Overall, a very well made film.

Speed gets 10 stars.

Feel the action experience.
13 July 2010
Ever since the 1984's The Terminator came out, it was a low budget film, but met with positive/mixed reviews. But after Cameron's other film, The Abyss, he made this fantastic sequel that surpasses the first one by many reviewers.

It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, Edward Furlong, etc.

In the last movie, a cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), but he failed. Now a much more powerful one sent from the future to kill Sarah's son - John Connor (Edward Furlong), the leader of the future rebels. A terminator was send from the future once more, but this time to protect Connor. The only problem is that the terminator who was send to kill Connor is much more powerful and clever than the one who was send to protect him. Moreover, none can help Connor, since they do not believe in robots. Now Connor and his protector has no choice but to survive on their own.

Before there was Avatar, Titanic, and True Lies, there was this one, an action packed film with everything it had.

So far this movie has been made into special editions to make the film a little bit longer, the original time for the movie was 139 min., but in the Extreme, and Ultimate Collectors editions made it only 152 min.

Overall, the movie was amazing.

Terminator II: Judgment Day gets 10 stars.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Just as good as Transformers 2? YES!!!
30 June 2010
After see the Iron Man 2 years ago, there was a sequel to it, and I was very exhilarated after I saw it.

Before I get to the review let me say this right here, If you HATE Transformers/Iron Man 2, YOU'RE AN IDIOT. As of now, the Golden Raspberry Awards is the worst thing that the movie industry has ever done. Seriously?!! Transformers 2 was the best movie of 2009, hell, I even got the DVD for my birthday!!! And you scumbags out there didn't even pick "Old Dogs", "Land of the Lost", "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra", or "All About Steve" hell, even Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 for that award!! But no, you're just too stupid to do so and picked my all-time favorite movie.

The people of the Razzie Awards are just a bunch of lame ass people who have no acclaim for movies. I'm pretty sure that Michael Bay threw his Razzie Award in the trash can for what they've done.

I know a lot of Transformers fans out there in the world are probably mad from what they've seen. They'll probably rant on them pretty soon if they get a chance to do so. I mean, Transformers 2 for Worst Picture? That is just sad. Transformers 2 haters can shut up for a while. I prefer this movie than "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2" because that movie has one of the worst endings I've seen.

Seriously, the Razzie Awards sucks now, because of this. I'm going to give them two middle fingers for saying that. Transformers 2 gets two thumbs up as well.

The bottom line: Golden Raspberry Awards SUCK!!!!! Now, it's time for the Iron Man 2 review.

It stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L Jackson, Mickey Rourke etc.

With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts, and James "Rhodey" Rhodes at his side, must forge new alliances - and confront powerful enemies.

I actually enjoyed this movie more than Alvin and the Chipmunks 2.

Both Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Iron Man 2 are AWESOME.

After that long rant and a short review, the movie's a must-see.

Iron Man 2 gets 10 stars.

Spectacular finish to the Star Wars saga.
10 June 2010
After watching A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, it's time to watch the final chapter of the Star Wars film franchise, The Return of the Jedi.

It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, David Prowse, Frank Oz, Anthony Daniels, etc.

The Empire is more than halfway through construction of a new Death Star - almost twice as big, but more than twice as powerful. When completed, it will spell certain doom for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and the Rebels. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) is a prisoner of crime lord Jabba the Hutt, and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) soon finds herself in the gangster's hands. Luke Skywalker, aided by C-3PO and R2-D2, makes his way into Jabba's palace, hoping to secure his friends' freedom. But the Hutt has no intention of doing so and tries to kill them all. After escaping from Jabba and the sands of Tatooine, they regroup with the Rebel fleet, which is massing for an attack against the new satellite battle station at Endor. Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) is pressed into action to lead the Rebel fighter attack, while Han is put in charge of a group of soldiers to take out the shield generator protecting the Death Star. Luke, however, surrenders to Vader's soldiers on Endor, and is taken in front of Vader's boss - the Galactic Emperor - on the Death Star for final corruption to the Dark Side of the Force. The fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers ambushes the Rebels, cutting them off. Worse, the new Death Star begins turning its giant laser on the Rebel carriers. It appears that nothing will stop the Empire's triumph - unless things start to change quickly.

I thought it was a great end to the Star Wars series.

But in 1999, the story took itself back into the beginning with Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and ended with Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

So far, I'm finished with the Star Wars original trilogies, and there will be more reviews in the summer.

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi gets 10 stars.

Awesome remake of the 1898 novel
26 May 2010
Since the last movie they made which it was Minority Report, they took the remake to an exhilarating next level in the film "War of the Worlds".

It stars Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Justin Chatwin, Tim Robbins, etc.

Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is a working class man living in New Jersey. He's estranged from his family, his life isn't in order, and he's too caught up with himself. But the unthinkable and, ultimately, the unexpected happens to him in an extraordinary sense. His small town life is shaken violently by the arrival of destructive intruders: Aliens which have come en masse to destroy Earth. As they plow through the country in a wave of mass destruction and violence, Ray must come to the defense of his children. As the world must fend for itself by a new and very advanced enemy not of this world, its inhabitants must save humanity from a far greater force that threatens to destroy it.

They did a really good job remaking the classic novel, which it was written by H.G. Wells.

War of the Worlds gets 10 stars.

Best Batman film ever made.
26 May 2010
After I've watched Batman Begins, a few years later, there was a follow-up to the movie called "The Dark Knight" all I have to say about the movie, it's absolutely amazing!!!!

It stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, etc.

With just one year having passed after taking out Ra's Al Ghul's plan to have Gotham eliminated and the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA the Scarecrow, and after the city was nearly plundered with his toxins, Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego the Batman (Christian Bale), continue the seemingly endless effort to bring order to Gotham, with the help of Lt. James Gordon and newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). But a new threat has now emerged into the streets. The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal called The Joker (Heath Ledger), whose eerie grin, laughter, and inhuman morality makes him as dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. It becomes an agenda to Batman to stop the mysterious Joker at all costs, knowing that both of them are in an opposite line. One has no method at all and seeks to see the world plunge into the fire he has yet to light. One represents the symbol of hope and uses his own shadow to bring the peace and order he has yet to accomplish doing.

No words to say about this film, it's amazing, awesome, and terrific.

One of the best performances in the film was the Joker played by Heath Ledger, he was so awesome in it, a dark, scary, crazy, creepy, and totally insane villain!!

Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman's performances were also great too.

it's too bad Heath Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose.

This movie is a must-see, it's awesome.

The Dark Knight gets 10 stars.

Best film in the trilogy
24 May 2010
After I've watched Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, I started to watched the second movie of the original trilogy and it's considered the best film of the series, its Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, David Prowse, Billy Dee Williams, Frank Oz, Anthony Daniels, etc.

The story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and the others didn't end with the destruction of the Death Star - it continues in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Imperial forces have since driven the Rebels to hide on the ice world Hoth. But even on such an icy, backwater world, they cannot escape the wicked Darth Vader's eye for long, and he devastates the Rebel base in an assault with the gigantic AT-AT walkers. Luke flees to Dagobah to begin Jedi Knight training with Yoda, while Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and C-3PO run the blockade of Imperial Star Destroyers in the Millennium Falcon. The Imperials pursue them across the galaxy and eventually catch up with them at Bespin. Now Darth Vader plans to use them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker to him, and turns Han Solo over to Boba Fett as a prize to be delivered to crime lord Jabba the Hutt. Luke learns a terrible family secret after losing a swordfight with Vader. Will he - and the others - escape the Empire's clutches?

Since the first and the third film made changes to the special editions, I did not see anything that was changed, except for the backgrounds in Cloud City.

Probably after this review, I'll review the final film of the original trilogy, Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.

This is another great film along with the other Star Wars movies. Cant wait for Episode 6.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back gets 10 stars.

The best in the series
21 May 2010
Since I've watched the first Mission Impossible on AMC, I decided to watch the third movie, and I was very surprised that the third film got higher reviews than the others.

It stars Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Billy Crudup, Laurence Fischburne, Simon Pegg, Keri Russell, etc.

While in his engagement party with doctor Julia (Michelle Monaghan), the IMF agent, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), is invited to a rescue mission of his former protégée. Agent Lindsey Farris (Keri Russell) was trained by him but has been kidnapped by the evil dealer, Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman). Ethan accepts the assignment and rescues Lindsey with his team, but she is killed by a bomb that has been implanted in her head. Ethan finds that Owen will be in the Vatican and he joins his group to abduct him. They succeeded in their mission, but back in USA they are betrayed, Owen is released by his team and he abducts Julia, bringing her to Shanghai. Owen contacts Ethan and forces him to steal a powerful weapon in order to save the life of Julia.

It's ranked 8th in the box office take, so it's still considered a blockbuster.

I really like this one, and War of the Worlds.

Mission Impossible III gets 10 stars.

A Sci-fi masterpiece.
20 May 2010
It's the year 1977, when Star Wars first opened to theaters, many people were excited to see it, so it made a huge amount of cash in the box office and so far is was one of the best movies of all time.

This was before the Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, The Matrix, The Bourne series, and Jurassic Park trilogies.

It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, Anthony Daniels, James Earl Jones (Voice of Darth Vader), Kenny Baker (inside R2-D2), Peter Cushing, etc.

In a galaxy far, far away, a psychopathic emperor and his most trusted servant - a former Jedi Knight known as Darth Vader - are ruling a universe with fear. They have built a horrifying weapon known as the Death Star, a giant battle station capable of annihilating a world in less than a second. When the Death Star's master plans are captured by the fledgling Rebel Alliance, Vader starts a pursuit of the ship carrying them. A young dissident Senator, Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), is aboard the ship & puts the plans into a maintenance robot named R2-D2. Although she is captured, the Death Star plans cannot be found, as R2 & his companion, a tall robot named C-3PO, have escaped to the desert world of Tatooine below. Through a series of mishaps, the robots end up in the hands of a farm boy named Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who lives with his Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru. Owen & Beru are viciously murdered by the Empire's stormtroopers who are trying to recover the plans, and Luke & the robots meet with former Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) to try to return the plans to Leia Organa's home, Alderaan. After contracting a pilot named Han Solo (Harrison Ford) & his Wookiee companion Chewbacca, they escape an Imperial blockade. But when they reach Alderaan's coordinates, they find it destroyed - by the Death Star. They soon find themselves caught in a tractor beam & pulled into the Death Star. Although they rescue Leia Organa from the Death Star after a series of narrow escapes, Kenobi becomes one with the Force after being killed by his former pupil - Darth Vader. They reach the Alliance's base on Yavin's fourth moon, but the Imperials are in hot pursuit with the Death Star, and plan to annihilate the Rebel base. The Rebels must quickly find a way to eliminate the Death Star before it destroys them as it did Alderaan.

Back in 1997, George Lucas was recreating the trilogy into special editions to the series, by adding special effects, different scenes and altered dialog that almost ruins the whole trilogy. (If you see the original films, you know that they've made some serious changes to the films that Star Wars fans would of noticed).

There's no words to say about this movie, it's a masterpiece that we all knew. The performances of the actors were amazing, special effects of its time was great, and the directing was great too.

It's one of the best movies ever created, and one of the best blockbuster movies ever.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope gets 10 stars.
