Anderson Cooper is grateful that the world has no shortage of heroes, for a number of reasons.
One is "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute," which the cable news network anchor-reporter has hosted annually since it began in 2007. He presides over the special's sixth edition Sunday, Dec. 2, at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium as 10 selected "Heroes" are introduced by celebrities and receive a $50,000 grant each for their respective efforts. Then one will be declared "CNN Hero of the Year" from online and social media voting (which ended several days earlier) and get an additional $250,000 grant.
"It's an event unlike any other," Cooper tells Zap2it. "It's so satisfying to be able to focus the spotlight on really deserving people who don't often get attention and work in ways -- sometimes large, sometimes small -- in their communities to make a difference.
"There's always a moment when you sort of find your throat catching,...

While discussing his hosting of the sixth "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" special Sunday, Dec. 2, he also reflects on his co-anchoring of the cable news network's coverage on the evening that culminated in the re-election of President Barack Obama.
"It was an exciting night," Cooper tells Zap2it. "Going into it, we really had no idea what was going to happen, and I think we're still kind of going over the results and looking at the numbers.

Anderson Cooper may be a hard news journalist, but he still cuts up with Lady Gaga and is "obsessed" with "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." The CNN correspondent told "The Insider"'s Chris Jacobs that he recently did an interview with the pop star that will air on "60 Minutes" and she got him to drink on the job. "We actually ended up that day in a pub in London drinking Jameson, which I don't really drink," Anderson admitted. "So, she got me to drink like two of them, and by the end I was ready to have the interview be over because I really sort of couldn't ask anymore questions." Anderson also gave his opinion of another woman always making headlines, Sarah Palin. "I think she's a fascinating person," he told Chris, adding that she has a "major impact in the Republican party and in America." The journalist has...

While the American Music Awards had our full attention last night, another set of stars came together on Saturday night in La for CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute. Justin Timberlake's ex-girlfriend, Cameron Diaz looked beautiful in basic black, while his current girl Jessica Biel looked equally fabulous in her strapless number. Sexy Salma Hayek stood out in an eye-catching colored dress while the guys didn't disappoint either — Hugh Jackman lived up to his new title of Sexiest Man Alive and John Legend looked hot as he performed on stage. John Krasinski's smile is always a treat as well, even if Emily Blunt gets to see it the most these days. As for the real life heroes, we can find out more about them when the event airs on CNN on Thanksgiving. To see 75 more photos including Lucy Liu, Kate Beckinsale, Meg Ryan, Selena Gomez and others, just read more.

It was a star studded event as some major fashionistas stepped onto the red carpet this weekend to support the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute event. Jessica Biel stepped onto the red carpet looking stunning in a grey and yellow two-tone Ungaro dress. Ms. Biel always looks amazing but we especially love the unexpected color combination. Salma Hayek looked goddess-like in bright blue one-of-a-kind Gucci gown and Rachel Zoe looked elegant in her usual boho chic evening attire. We wonder who Anderson Cooper's favorite was.
