Plot Summary

With a name like Hoops McCann, he's bound to get that basketball scholarship after high school, right? Wrong! What Hoops really wants to do is write and illustrate a love story. To help him find his way, his friend George invites Hoops to come with him and his sister to spend the summer on Nantucket. The friends Crazy Summer begins when they pickup Cassandra on the way--she's being chased by a motorcycle gang. From here on in, it only gets crazier. Once on the island, Hoops and George, along with George's island friends the Stork twins and Ack-Ack (son of a marine), must help Cassandra save her grandfather's house from the greedy Beckersted Family. Along the way, Hoops must find a way to write his cartoon love story - and maybe a real one of his own. Written by April M. Cheek

Did You Know?

Trivia Savage Steve Holland did the animation for the film. He was upset that film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert roasted his earlier John Cusack film, Better Off Dead... (1985). The two animated bunnies that get blown up at the end of this movie bear a strong (and not accidental) physical resemblance to the movie critics. See more »
Goofs Ack Ack was at the beach "Collecting shells", he was collecting them where the round was hitting. To collect shells he would need to be next to the cannon or gun shooting them. See more »

Quotes Egg Stork: Ack Ack, let me tell you a little story. A story about a little fat kid who everybody made fun of, and nobody liked and he had a twin brother, and everybody said he never looked like his twin brother, but he wanted to...
Ack Ack Raymond: Egg, were you that little boy?
Egg Stork: No! No! But I used to beat the shit out him! "Why are you so fat? Why are so ugly?" Aaagghh!
Ack Ack Raymond: Great story, thanks.
