Law & Order is losing another veteran actor.
The NBC drama will bid farewell to star Camryn Manheim on May 16, the season 23 finale. The actress was a key part of the cast when Dick Wolf revived the flagship procedural for its 21st season.
Manheim becomes the second star to depart L&o this season with her upcoming exit coming on the heels of original star Sam Waterston, who exited in February as D.A. Jack McCoy. He had appeared in more than 400 episodes of the flagship series and returned to lead the revival that remains a high priority for both Wolf and NBC.
To fill the void created by Waterston’s exit, L&o recruited former Scandal favorite Tony Goldwyn to be the show’s new D.A. and join a cast that also includes Hugh Dancy, Reid Scott, Mechad Brooks and Odelya Halevi.

ABC is bringing back a big chunk of its unscripted shows for the 2024-25 TV season.
The network has renewed seven series — American Idol, The Bachelor, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Dancing With the Stars, Shark Tank and the ABC News-produced What Would You Do? — for next season. They join The Golden Bachelorette, a spinoff of last fall’s breakout The Golden Bachelor, on the 2024-25 slate. (The Bachelorette is also set for its usual summer run.)
Notably missing from the list of pickups is America’s Funniest Home Videos, ABC’s longest-running entertainment series. A decision hasn’t been made yet on a possible 35th season for the show.
American Idol will air its eighth season on ABC (and 23rd overall) in 2024-25, although it will do so without judge Katy Perry, who is leaving at the end of the current season. Dancing With the Stars (season 33), The Bachelor...

It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. It brought Meloni back to the world of Law & Order in 2021, via a two-part crossover with...

Kristen Johnston will star alongside Leanne Morgan in the latter’s upcoming Netflix comedy series, Variety has learned.
The untitled multi-cam comedy was picked up at Netflix in April with a 16-episode order. Morgan co-created the series with Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre. The role marks a reunion for Lorre and Johnston, as Johnston previously appeared in the CBS multi-cam “Mom,” which Lorre also co-created.
The official description for Morgan’s series states: “Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”
Johnston will star in the series regular role of Carol, Leanne’s sister. The character is said to be Leanne’s complete opposite.

It’s an important point, given the conversation that Emmett thinks he’s ready for by the end of the episode. (Spoiler alert: He has no idea how much worse things can get.)
And that’s really saying something, given that Emmett was already at a lifetime low, having just botched a murder attempt on the high-powered gangster who runs the South Side of Chicago.

NBC’s plans for Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary extend far beyond an anniversary special (although that’s certainly part of it).
The network announced today that it’s throwing a “seven-month long party” to celebrate SNL, including a November election special, new holiday specials, a documentary series, multi-part music specials, and a comedy special at Radio City Music Hall.
The live, 3-hour SNL50 Primetime Special will air as part of a “celebratory weekend” on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 8-11pm Et. The show—and red-carpet event—will “welcome stars of past and present to 8H,” according to the network.
The special falls in the middle of Saturday Night Live’s upcoming 50th season—though technically falls eight months short of the 50-year anniversary of its premiere on October 11, 1975.
The last time viewers were treated to an SNL anniversary special was for the show’s 40th.

Make-up design doesn’t always mean prosthetics or extremes — that’s why the Emmy Awards smartly single out contemporary make-up design as its own category. But too often, those more immediately arresting designs are the ones that get all the attention. Not anymore. Join IndieWire in celebrating the make-up artists creating subtle, character-specific work for contemporary characters.
Elsbeth Tascioni has been around for three series now. Carrie Preston introduced the most upbeat litigator of all time with the finesse of a drunken master on “The Good Wife” (winning an Emmy Award for her guest appearance) and reprised the role on the spinoff series “The Good Fight.” Now, the character gets her own CBS series with “Elsbeth,” from “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight” creators Michelle King and Robert King, in which her defense attorney acts as an oddball crime solver while acting as a legal observer for an NYPD consent decree.

Per Deadline, the streamer is preparing a reality competition series based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — which has already been adapted into three movies — but no other details are known yet. Warner Bros. Discovery is also expected to be involved somehow, given that it holds the rights to the films.
