After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now deep into its twelve month shooting schedule… So deep, in fact, that the cast has gotten together for a read-through the script for the final episode – and while speaking with ComicBook.com, cast member David Harbour revealed there was “heavy weeping” during the reading of that script.
Stranger Things has the following synopsis: A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events.

Next year, heaven willing, we will watching the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, three years after season 4 dropped in 2022. Expectations are high after so long a wait, but I'm sure creators Matt and Ross Duffer want to end their sci-fi coming-of-age story on a high note.
We're starting to get teases from the cast, including Gaten Matarazzo, who has played fan favorite Dustin Henderson from the beginning. Speaking to RadioTimes, he promises a satisfying ending for Dustin: "It definitely will be a bookend. I think it will wrap up really nicely."
Matarazzo also speculated on what might lie in the future for Dustin beyond this ending, which if nothing else implies that Dustin will survive whatever's coming. When he and his friends are facing down a deadly interdimensional menace like Vecna, you can't be sure of anything. "I don't think Matt or Ross will want to approach anything...

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now six months into its twelve month shooting schedule… and cast member Maya Hawke, who joined the show in season 3 to play Robin Buckley, told Podcrushed that each of the eight episodes is so long, it’s like they’re making eight movies.
Hawke said (with thanks to Deadline for the transcription), “Our showrunners, Matt and Ross (Duffer), take a lot of responsibility. They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved. They write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now six months into its twelve month shooting schedule… and according to cast member Jamie Campbell Bower, who joined the show in season 4 as the supernatural villain Henry Creel / Vecna, the episodes that make up the final season of Stranger Things are out of control and completely insane.
During an interview on iHeart’s I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy Didario, Bower said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like it’s bonkers. Stranger Things might be the name of his show, but Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) has experienced some of the strangest things you can as a teenage celebrity. One encounter with a fan in particular shook him…because she was three times his age.
Appearing on the Inside of You podcast (via Us Weekly), Matarazzo – who was 13 when Stranger Things premiered – said he met one fan who really caught him off guard…in about the creepiest way possible. “I did one very recently — and this is not very funny, but the reactions around it were quite funny — where this woman in her 40s said straight up, ‘I’ve had a crush on you since you were 13.’ And I was like, ‘That’s upsetting.’” But it gets worse…As Matarazzo added of his middle-aged Stranger Things fan, “She was like, ‘I’m aware of the age difference.’ And then I was like,...

This article contains spoilers through Stranger Things season 4 and The Walking Dead.
To kill or not to kill? This is the question so many shows with large ensemble casts wrestle with as the tensions rise and the stakes become fatal deeper into the series. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones took great pleasure in cutting down leading players like blades of grass in the springtime sun. It kept viewers on their toes, but it also hindered the strength of the respective casts. When too many fan favorites are whacked, it tests the loyalty of the people watching at home and the skills of the writers and directors to form a coherent story with the crumbs that remain.
Stranger Things weighs in on the other end of the spectrum. The Duffer Brothers have kept essentially every cherished character locked into the show from the debut season to the most recent one.

An uncanny understanding of character dynamics and superior cast chemistry have made Stranger Things the defining science fiction drama of the last decade. Although fans love the special effects and evil enemies omnipresent in the series, showrunners the Duffer brothers have always grounded the story in character development. Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) and Will’s (Noah Schnapp) potential romance, Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) backstory as a lab rat, and Hopper’s quest for fatherhood have all amalgamated into an irresistible mix of plotting that feels novelistic and addicting for viewers.

Despite his heroic (and tragic) demise in Stranger Things Season 4, Eddie Munson might not be gone for good. Played by Joseph Quinn, Eddie was a student at Hawkins High School and the unique leader of the Hellfire Club, a group centered around Dungeons & Dragons.

He also rocked out on his electric guitar in his band, Corroded Coffin, and was pals with Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, and Mike Wheeler. Sadly, Eddie sacrificed himself, but there’s a chance he might come back somehow.
Fans are eagerly speculating about Quinn’s potential return in the final season of Stranger Things, as the actor himself remains tight-lipped about it. But looks like there’s a deeper meaning behind why he is keeping mum.

Finn Wolfhard recently opened up about how he wasn’t exactly the most skilled actor during his early days on Stranger Things — and understandably so, considering he was 12.
During an appearance on Hot Ones, the actor explained he doesn’t watch things from early in the show all that much, but when he does he realizes something.
“I didn’t know what I was doing back then and like, in a lot of ways I think that really helped me and now, like, as you get older you get so much more, like, kind of like self-obsessed,” he said. “You get a little more in your head…and I feel like I learned so much more obviously since then but I wish I had a little bit of that naivete.”
Woflhard portrays main character Mike Wheeler on Netflix’s hit sci-fi series. He is the center of his friend’s group.

While “Stranger Things” Season 5 star Linda Hamilton may be preparing to venture into Hawkins, Ind. — hopefully by blasting some of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” on her Walkman — she will not be watching the final season despite being a fan of the 80s-infused, “Dungeons and Dragons”-inspired Netflix drama show.

The supernatural series has a fantastic ensemble cast consisting of Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Some of the characters killed on the show are Joseph Quinn’s Eddie, Sean Astin’s Bob, Dacre Montgomery’s Billy and Shannon Purser’s Barbara. The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. A couple months into that strike, the Screen Actors Guild also went on strike – and while the writers strike ended in September, the actors strike continued on into November. Following the six month delay, Netflix decided to wait out the holidays before getting Stranger Things season 5 rolling… but now they have officially confirmed that production is finally underway! They celebrated the start of production by unveiling of a behind-the-scenes image of the cast with series creators The Duffer Brothers, and you can check out that image at the bottom of this article.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, production is gearing up, and Deadline hears that Stranger Things season 5 is finally going to go into production in January. Specifically, they hear that cameras will begin rolling on either January 5th or January 8th.
They note, “Cast members are believed to already be in Atlanta, where Stranger Things films, for prep work, with table reads also slated for the next couple of weeks.” They add that most of the writing had been completed before the writers strike hit, but “faced with the prospect of filming without writers on set, creators, executive producers and showrunners the Duffer Brothers opted to instead postpone production, which was then...

Last week, Stranger Things cast member David Harbour said he expected to start filming season 5 of the hit Netflix series – which will also be the final season of the show – in “a couple days”. But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.
Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. Stranger Things will end in a very real way. … The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5.” He acknowledged that there’s still room for spin-offs and prequel stories like the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow,...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!
Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

A few months ago, it was announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5 – which also happens to be the final season of the hugely popular Netflix streaming series. That season was supposed to be deep into production by now, but has been delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes. The writers strike recently ended, now we just need the actors strike to come to an end so Stranger Things can get rolling. While waiting for his chance to report to the Stranger Things set, Trachtenberg has been doing the press rounds to promote the physical media release of his Predator movie Prey… and during a conversation with Collider, he talked about signing on to bring an episode of Stranger Things to the screen and working with the show’s creators The Duffer Brothers.

Since before us lies such a long wait for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things — here’s one reason why — we’ve been biding our time thinking about what comes after. Series creators the Duffer Brothers have already said that they have one spinoff in mind. And we have another: a dramedy that follows Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington and Maya Hawke’s Robin Buckley as they settle into what passes for “normal” life in Hawkins post-Vecna crisis.

Netflix's smash-hit "Stranger Things" will soon be coming to an end, with the fifth and final season continuing production once the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) provides a fair contract with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) to put an end to the current dual strike. Fans are used to waiting for new seasons of the sci-fi, horror, adventure series, but many are more impatient than usual after the heartbreaking events of season 4. The most recent season introduced a new character named Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the misunderstood Dungeon Master of the Hellfire Club, the unofficial Dungeons and Dragons group of Hawkins High School.

When Stranger Things season 4 concluded its feature-length final episode in July 2022, the show’s characters seemed ready to roll right into the their fifth and final season.
The newly-revealed big bad Vecna a.k.a. Henry Creel a.k.a. Number One (Jamie Campbell Bower) had been stopped but not fully defeated. Of course, that was over a year ago now and Stranger Things season 5 still isn’t making its way to our respective Netflix streams any time soon. Part of that was expected – this is a very big show that takes a long time for creators The Duffer Brothers and their...

The Stranger Things cast have worked together through some of their young lives happiest and most awkward moments. As they grew up in the public eye, some changes were more noticeable than others. Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) spilled the beans on one co-star, Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), whose voice changed dramatically through season one of the Netflix series.

Season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show – was supposed to be a couple months into filming at this point. But production was delayed by the writers strike, then the writers were joined on the picket lines by members of the Screen Actors Guild. So it’s going to be a little while before this season finally gets up and running. While we wait for the strikes to be resolved, Stranger Things creators Duffer Brothers have gone ahead and revealed that the character of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, will be taking center stage in this last season.

“I think it’s finally my year,” are the famous last words of Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things,” but unfortunately actor Joseph Quinn will have to wait a little bit longer.
While, at this point, it feels like the kids of Netflix’s ’80s-set sci-fi series will be grandparents before Season 5, with the WGA strike delaying production and the general speed in which the Duffer brothers have delivered seasons. Nonetheless, elements of last summer’s massively popular Season 4 Vol. 2 double-episodes will be angling for consideration from the Television Academy this year. But Emmy rules means most stars of “Stranger Things” aren’t eligible for this year’s ballots.
In June 2022, the TV Academy eliminated the “hangover episode rule,” which allowed a series that premieres current-season episodes after the May 31 eligibility deadline but before the start of nomination round-voting to submit for Emmy consideration.

At 20 years old, Gaten Matarazzo is already something of a Broadway veteran. The New Jersey native was only 9 when he made his debut in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, a few years older when he appeared in Les Misérables and then, just last year, took over the role of “Jared Kleinman” in the final Broadway cast of the hit musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Still, even theatergoers who had followed his career from the beginning couldn’t help but be caught off guard by his performance in Tony Award–winning director Thomas Kail’s current revival of the Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler dark, funny and musically lush classic Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. As the young orphan Tobias, Matarazzo is on stage for about 25 minutes of the musical’s just-shy-of-three-hour running time, and even alongside Broadway heavyweights Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford, the Stranger Things star more than holds his own.

And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to let the show use the song, and discussed what it was like to see the renewed interest in “Master of Puppets” thirty-six years after the song was first released.
Speaking with Stern, Ulrich said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “It used to be, with Metallica, we were always the ‘no’ guys. … A few years ago, we reversed it, we did a 180. We just said, ‘You know what? This is stupid. Why are we hanging onto these [songs] like they’re so important, like they’re the crown jewels? Let...
