Before inheriting the title "Master of Disaster", a perfectly justified honour for his reputation of creating some of the greatest disaster movies of the 1970s, Irwin Allen was also the man responsible for some of the classic TV shows to emerge in the 1960’s. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, and Land of the Giants have all survived the test of time and become immortalised among the best in terms of cultural importance. However, above all others, Lost in Space (1965-1968) is arguably the series that endured. Very loosely inspired by Johan David Wyss's classic 1812 adventure novel “Swiss Family Robinson”, the premise for the show was fairly uncomplicated and followed the adventures of the Robinson family, a crew of space colonists who encounter a number of strange and otherworldly situations after their ship is sabotaged and thrown off its original course. Twenty-one children and two adults were injured when a structure collapsed at a parkour center in San Diego, California, this weekend.
San Diego Fire-Rescue announced on Twitter that a stairway collapsed at Vault Pk on Saturday night. The gym specializes in parkour, which is a sport that requires athletes to navigate obstacle courses. The facility also includes trampolines and bouncy houses.
Witnesses told NBC 7 that around 50 children attending “Kids Night Out” headed to the upper level of the facility for pizza when 20-by-30 foot wooden deck and stairwell collapsed.

Our latest round-up of horror and genre DVDs and Blu-rays...
So: with season two of Stranger Things fast approaching, a remake of Stephen King’s It set to mildly trouble a whole new generation and, erm, the on-going threat of nuclear armageddon, it seems everything eighties is 'in' at the moment. And, you know what? That surely must include Dennis Quaid, right? Well, maybe not, unless you count this year’s canine reincarnation/multiple hound-homicide horror A Dog’s Purpose, which we don’t in these parts. Anyway, Quaid’s back in Blu-ray form with the recent repackaging of his 1984 quirky fantasy thriller Dreamscape.
Nicely sandwiched between the release of Jaws 3-D and Enemy Mine, surely two of the most Quaidessential (sorry) films of the decade, Dreamscape sees our hero take on the mantle of a cheaper Harrison Ford, burdened with psychic powers that he must use...

TVLine brings word today that the Robinson family have zeroed in on its matriarch, now that House of Cards alum Molly Parker has become attached to the role of Maureen in Netflix’s 10-episode Lost in Space reboot.
News of Parker’s casting arrives only a week after we brought you confirmation that Black Sails star Toby Stephens had landed the part of brilliant astrophysicist and commander John Robinson in Netflix’s redo. Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) rounds out the preliminary cast as Judy, John and Maureen’s daughter and fellow spacefaring explorer. On the other side of the lens, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter) are the screenwriters attached, while Zack Estrin (Prison Break) has been elected showrunner by Netflix.

Treasure Island prequel series Black Sails may be preparing to wind down with a fourth and final season over at Starz, but leading man Toby Stephens has already secured his future on the small-screen via Legendary TV and Netflix’s rebooted Lost in Space.
Deadline has the scoop, confirming that Maxwell Jenkins of Sense8 fame has also landed the role of Will Robinson in the 10-episode series. Stephens, meanwhile, will pilot the ship as brilliant astrophysicist and commander John Robinson. At the time of writing, Taylor Russell is the only other star of note attached to Lost in Space for now, after climbing aboard to portray Robinsons’ eldest daughter Judy some months ago.
Eyeing a 2018 premiere on Netflix, we’re still a ways away from Lost in Space warping onto the streaming platform. We do, however, understand that Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter) are hashing...

Continuing their ongoing domination of all past and present media, Netflix has ordered a “Lost In Space” remake series. Deadline reports that the streaming service has given Legendary TV a 10-episode straight-to-series order for “Lost In Space,” after competitively outbidding others for a development deal back in November. It will premiere sometime in 2018.

Last year we learned that Legendary TV was remaking the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. Netflix came on board to produce the series, and now we've learned that the streaming service has ordered 10 episodes.
The new Lost In Space reboot is described as an “epic but grounded science fiction saga focusing on a young explorer family from earth lost in an alien universe and the challenges they face in staying together against seemingly insurmountable odds.”
Netflix has been putting out some high-quality shows, so there's a good chance that reboot could end up being a solid, well-made series. It's got all the elements of a great series, so hopefully, they don't screw it up.
The original 1965 series was set 30 years into the future (1997), and the story revolved around an attempt by the U.S. to colonize deep space by sending a single family, the Robinsons, on a 5 1/2-year journey to another planet.

Legendary TV has been developing a remake of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space, and Deadline is now reporting that it’s headed to Netflix. Netflix has been the go to place for great series, and most of the original programming stuff that they stream is top-notch quality. I think this Lost in Space series will have a good home there.

The coolest thing you’re going to find all year is hitting on September 15th, and it’s packed with goodies. It’s the 50th Anniversary of Lost in Space, and the complete series is going to be available on Blu-Ray, and the release gives you a lot for your money.

Much as the show has gone down in history as something of a goof, you might be surprised at how much future shows owe to this one, and not just by way of carving out a bit of cultural popularity for the sci-fi genre.

Some of the greatest (or at least heavily favored) American television shows got the big screen treatment when they were selected to have their small screen following turn into a cinematic experience. Unfortunately, for every beloved nostalgic television show that translated successfully in movie theaters (The Brady Bunch Movie, Star Trek, Batman, etc.) there are boob tube stinkers that overtake the good crop. Sure, there are middle-of-the-road movie adaptations of television programs that have a mixed bag reception (1997’s Leave It To Beaver, 1987’s Dragnet, 2012’s Dark Shadows, etc.). Nevertheless, it is always the unflattering fare that receive the bulk of the attention (do you register, 1999’s The Wild, Wild West ?).
In Boob on the Tube: Top Ten Worst Movie Adaptations of TV Shows we will take a look at the top ten televised offenders that dared to venture into cinema’s stratosphere only to end up floating down shamefully...
