That’s what ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis said, standing alongside “World News Tonight” host David Muir on the edge of Lake Champlain as the 2024 solar eclipse was just emerging from totality.
She’s right of course — as odd as it is to hear a TV anchor downplay the experience of watching TV. But with its two-hour live afternoon broadcast April 8, ABC News and National Geographic captured a sense of beauty almost completely foreign to the TV news landscape today, and found a way to preserve this moment of time with a pristine clarity and brilliance that technology’s made possible only recently.
Other networks devoted their airtime to the eclipse. CBS cut in, as well, and spent considerable time on a mass wedding being staged when the total eclipse came to Russellville, Arkansas; CNN had a reporter at a zoo in...

In the pre-coverage of Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, the speech is being billed as the most important of his presidency, what with his dismal approval numbers and what is shaping up to be very difficult campaign for reelection.
Moreover, so much attention has been paid to the president’s age — at 81, he is the first octogenarian on a major party ticket — that any kind of slip up will be seized upon by his rivals.
Then again, Biden’s most memorable moment last year was an exchange with House Republicans over Social Security, showing that the president had command of the stage. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see if GOP members restrain themselves so as to not give the president the opportunity this year.

Jonathan Majors’ domestic assault case has been prolonged again.
The actor was expected to receive his sentence on Tuesday, a month after he was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. However, the sentencing was delayed to April 8 due to motions filed by his legal team to set aside the verdict. Judge Michael Gaffey said the new date will give prosecutors time to respond to the motion, which was filed on Monday.
Majors didn’t attend Tuesday afternoon’s hearing in person and instead appeared virtually because he lives out of state. Based on his charges, he could face up to a year in jail.
In late 2023, a Manhattan jury found the Marvel actor guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault but acquitted him on two other counts stemming from an incident that occurred last March.

A small contingent of journalists gathered near the Canadian border earlier this morning to watch as Dixville Notch, Nh, continued its tradition of casting the first ballots on an election day.
Nikki Haley cleaned Donald Trump’s clock in this hamlet — 6 votes to none.
As the day goes on, network correspondents are fanning out across the state at precincts to talk to actual voters, after months in which the first-in-the-nation primary was judged and assessed by polls. Commentary and analysis is focusing on whether
Haley and her top surrogate, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, blitzed the airwaves on Monday, while Trump held a final rally in Laconia, Nh, where he predicted that Haley would be out of the race after tonight. He was interrupted by climate protesters, who have been a frequent presence at events in recent days.

After tonight’s Iowa caucuses, networks are planning for a packed week of political events — but the events hinge on the race remaining one between former President Donald Trump and his two main rivals.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is scheduled to do a CNN town hall on Tuesday evening at New England College in Henniker, Nh.
On Thursday, ABC News and Wmur-tv are scheduled to hold a New Hampshire primary debate, moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis. Those who finish in the top three in Iowa or reach a 10% polling threshold in multiple polls will qualify.
CNN is scheduled to hold its own New Hampshire debate on Jan. 21, to be held at the New England College Campus two nights before the Jan. 23 primary. That event has a similar qualification threshold.
Even before tonight’s vote, DeSantis said that he plans to go on after Iowa, even though he has...

Have you heard it’s cold in Des Moines? The subzero temperatures are making Monday’s caucuses in Iowa the coldest on record, a running theme of coverage throughout the day and into this evening. It’s not trivial, as the frigid weather may very well impact turnout.
As Iowa’s first votes of the 2024 presidential race come in, expect a lot of analysis, punditry and prediction, even if the results represent just a sliver of the primary electorate. The Hawkeye state’s primacy as the first-in-the-nation often obscures the peculiarities of the caucus system, unless there is some kind of glitch, which is what happened four years ago with the Democrats.
That said, networks see the caucuses as the kickoff of what is hoped a spike in viewer interest in the presidential contest, as was seen in 2020 and 2016. All of the broadcast networks are planning for ongoing coverage of...

A year ago, Jonathan Majors embarked on a 29-hour drive from his home in New York City to Park City, Utah, where he unveiled the body building drama Magazine Dreams to rapturous reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. It was the start of what was supposed to be a banner year, which was to include blockbuster roles and an awards season campaign for Magazine Dreams.
That dream has been put on hold as the actor awaits a Feb. 6 sentencing for assault and harassment convictions following a March 2023 incident involving ex-partner Grace Jabbari.
The career fallout for Majors has been severe, with Disney-owned Marvel Studios dropping him as chief villain Kang the Conqueror hours after his conviction. And the fate of Magazine Dreams is still in the balance at esteemed specialty studio Searchlight, also owned by Disney.

Jonathan Majors’ first interview after his guilty verdict is finally out, and the actor got the platform to bring forth his side of the story to his fans. Majors also expressed that his skin color also had a role in him being arrested and convicted for assault on ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
The actor is one of the rising stars in Hollywood who got his fame after joining Marvel, but it was shortlived, and people already speculated about his firing from Disney after his arrest last year in March. The Jonathan Majors assault trial finally took place last month. The actor, who was seen recently on season 2 of Marvel Studios’ Loki, had been awaiting trial for most of 2023, and the jury found him guilty of reckless assault in the third degree, which is a misdemeanour, and of harassment in the second degree, which is a violation. Majors had started the year with his career flying high after being featured as the villain, Kang, in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and as the opponent in Creed III. He was also ready to release another film, Magazine Dreams, which had already garnered him some acclaim. Monday morning, Majors appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America for his first interview since the whole incident transpired.

The former Marvel actor sat down with ABC News Live on Monday in an interview aired on Good Morning America to discuss the New York trial and said he was “shocked and afraid” as his guilty verdict was declared.

“It is great to back with both of you,” Strahan said, who also said that it was “great to see Jeremy Renner” back. He was previewing a segment on the actor’s recovery from a serious accident.
The reason for Strahan’s time away from the show was not addressed, but a spokesperson for ABC News had previously said that he was “dealing with some personal family matters.”
