The supergroup Swedish House Mafia are to play a six-week residency in Ibiza. The house supergroup – made up of Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso – took to social media to announce the development.
They confirm through their social media post that they will play over six Sundays in July and August this year, reports ‘Female First UK’.
Swedish House Mafia wrote on Instagram: “Our first Ibiza residency in over a decade. 6 Sundays only at @ushuaiaibiza. Tickets available now in bio. See you this summer(sic)”.
This comes after Steve recently revealed the group have been in talks with Coldplay’s Chris Martin about working together again, after they remixed the Grammy-winning band’s 2011 track ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, which samples the 70s’ hit ‘I Go to Rio’ and reached the Top 10 in the UK.
Steve recently told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We’ve spoken to Chris Martin about it.

British rock band Coldplay could be set for another track with Swedish House Mafia. The house supergroup remixed the Grammy-winning band’s 2011 track ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’.
The track samples the 70s’ hit ‘I Go to Rio’ and reached the Top 10 in the UK – and they’ve already spoken to frontman Chris Martin about working on something else together, reports ‘Female First UK’.
DJ Steve Angello, who is joined by Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso in the Swedish House Mafia, told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, “We’ve spoken to Chris Martin about it. It would be cool to do something, so hopefully we can get it in the studio. That would be sick, because his vocals and the writing style would work really well with how we sound.”
Meanwhile, Nile Rodgers previously revealed he had been working on a top-secret project with Coldplay.

The Weeknd is continuing to boycott the Grammys, but two of his projects — his Avatar: The Way of Water theme song and Emmy-nominated Live at SoFi Stadium concert film — are on the Grammy ballot.
Disney Music Group confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they submitted “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” from Avatar for best song written for visual media, while HBO confirmed they submitted the singer’s concert special for best music film.
“Nothing is Lost,” released in Dec. 2022, was shortlisted for best original song at this year’s Academy Awards. The Weeknd co-wrote the song with Grammy-winning composer Simon Franglen and Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. If nominated, Franglen and the electronic trio would receive nominations alongside The Weeknd.
Live at SoFi Stadium was filmed across two nights in Inglewood in Nov. 2022 as The Weeknd performed on his After Hours til Dawn Tour.

In 2022, Grammy-nominated trio Swedish House Mafia – Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell – focused on the one thing they hadn’t done yet. The trio collaborated with in-house designers at Ikea to create OBEGRÄNSAD, a limited collection dedicated to enabling the next generation in music and digital arts to build the perfect home studio on a budget.

It took three years for music to return to Indio’s Empire Polo Club. But Covid seemed to be an afterthought this past weekend as fans flocked to each Coachella stage, mostly unmasked. Overall, the fest’s 2022 edition served as an exciting three-day celebration of live music’s resurgence, with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Swedish House Mafia alongside the Weeknd topping the bill. (Kanye West’s last-minute drop-off went seemingly unnoticed.)
History was made throughout the weekend, as Eilish became the youngest headliner in history, and Pabllo Vittar the first drag queen to perform.

Salvatore took to SoundCloud this week to share a new remix of his collaboration with renowned vocalist Enya and singer Alex Aris on “Dive,” revealing a new version produced by himself and none other than Sebastian Ingrosso, formerly of Swedish House Mafia.
The new “Dive” mix opens with reggae vibes, complete with relaxed chords and slow rolling beats. After a breakdown section dominated by Alex Aris’ pristine vocals, we are led into a surprisingly dirty drop that features grungy dubstep bass and screeching synths. The two producers bring the energy back down for another vocal driven verse before reprising the dubstep elements to close out the track on a final energetic note.

Sebastian Ingrosso‘s “Dark River” was fairly ahead of its time when he began playing it out last year, and now that the electronic music world has caught up, he’s decided to put it back on the map. Crudely animated still photos of everything from farm animals to nuclear explosions make for an almost unsettling backdrop to the track’s jaunty bass lines. The vocal and instrumental samples are performed by what appears to be a cubist representation of Ingrosso himself, with the lyrics of the song appearing on the screen in timing.

Former Swedish House Mafioso Sebastian Ingrosso released a new solo track this week titled “Dark River (Festival Version),” reminding us once again why he’s one of the best producers in the game today.
“Dark River” opens with a driving house beat, with steadily building synths and risers leading up to the energetic dance sections. Taking inspiration from future house, Ingrosso delivers hard hitting offbeat bass stabs and relentless percussion that saturate the drops.
The breakdown, meanwhile, features some unexpected acoustic guitar elements and a whistled melody alongside a vocal section, offering plenty of diversity to the song and giving dancers some brief reprieve from the energetic drops.

Does anyone even remember the last time that Sebastian Ingrosso released a track on his own? Today, however, he’s put out a brand new track that isn’t associated with either of those groups.
Titled “Flags!,” the song is a a collab with labelmate Salvatore Ganacci and Liohn. Taking a turn to the dark side, the hard hitting tune arrives just in time for Miami Music Week, as its speaker-destroying synths ensure it a place amongst main stage sets.

As 2015 draws to a close, artists from all avenues of the electronic music community are working overtime to squeeze in year-end releases. Axwell /\ Ingrosso are no exceptions, and they’ve delivered “Dream Bigger” as their own way of bringing in the new year.
While driven predominantly by the sort of chugging buildup-drop scheme that’s become a ubiquitous part of the Edm landscape, “Dream Bigger” takes a respectable risk by incorporating a distorted electric guitar melody that makes it feel more like a hard rock anthem than what you might expect from a leading name in electronic music. It works, though – and in an ironic turn of events, Sebastian Ingrosso appears to have taken his protege, Alesso’s lead by emulating the hard rock sound in the track.

Now that taking a stab at eclectic musical styles is apparently the thing for former Swedish House Mafia members to do, it looks like Axwell decided to get onboard – for better or for worse. Shortly after Steve Angello’s Wild Youth: Chapter 1 proved that the Size Records founder had more to offer than big room festival fodder, Axwell has returned fire with “Waiting For So Long (Gloria).”
Unfortunately, though, what he’s lobbed into the air with this single has fallen tragically short of its target. “Waiting For So Long” tries to be too many things at once. It starts with future bass-like atmospheric effects before a Madeon-reminiscent melody sets in. Then, the horn section starts, and that’s when it loses you; it’s hard to even pay attention to the vocals with how distracting the rest of the arrangement becomes.
It’s alright, Axwell, not everybody can be a game changer.

Charity or otherwise, I’d blast this track if I felt like it deserved to be blasted – but for main stage progressive house, it’s actually not a bad cut. A robotic voice chants “This time we cant go home” – which is admittedly a somewhat tasteless tie-in to the cause at hand – before a brief snippet from the first verse...

It’s no secret that right now is a big time in Alesso‘s life. The release of his debut album, Forever, has proven a worthy culmination of all the efforts he’s made over the course of his five-year music career, and the progressive house producer decided to celebrate that in the most meaningful way possible: a special performance in front of 10,000 people at the Ericsson Globe in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden.
A brief mini-documentary directed by Henrik Hanson details the behind-the-scenes process leading up to the performance. Between Alesso admitting to sinking all of his own money into the show and digging up the “lucky shoes” he wore during his first Coachella gig, the documentary paints a picture of how eagerly he looked forward to the affair. Sebastian Ingrosso even makes a brief appearance to offer his protege heartfelt encouragement.

We were bound and determined to not like this track going in. Even if we completely ignore the fact that Axwell /\ Ingrosso recently called the underground amateur and then accused the reporter of taking their words out of context before the original transcript surfaced, we simply couldn’t imagine a collaboration between two progressive house DJ/producers and American rapper Pusha T turning out in any way listenable. Well, color us convinced, we guess, because what they’ve turned out is actually not half bad.
Similar to what Sebastian Ingrosso’s own prodigy Alesso has been putting out lately, Axwell /\ Ingrosso’s original version of “Can’t Hold Us Down” features elements almost reminiscent of hard rock, a characteristic which has helped illustrate the caricature of mainstream Edm artists being the rock stars of our era. In the rework, the fist-pumping melody has been replaced with a gritty hip-hop beat...

If you follow Edm to some degree, chances are you’ve heard that Alesso‘s album, Forever, is set to drop any day now. Well, sorry to get your hopes up, but the songs on this list aren’t from that album! We apologize for tricking you. Well, kind of.
Honestly, you should check out these tracks anyways. You might not realize it, but Alesso’s career didn’t just start when former Swedish House Mafia member Sebastian Ingrosso took the young producer his wing. Some of the stuff he put out before then is worth a listen or three – and what’s more, you won’t see any of it on Forever.
Before Ingrosso’s influence, Alesso didn’t even know how to DJ, only produce (which didn’t stop him from miraculously hitting #70 on the DJ Mag Top 100 the same year he learned). His style was somewhat closer...

Swedish DJ/producer Alesso has no shortage of progressive house hits under his belt, but why not add another to the list? “Sweet Escape,” from his upcoming debut album, features all the hallmarks of the young progressive house artist’s euphoric style, promising to become a festival staple as the season goes full swing.
Stabs of a string section start the track off before even percussive elements can be heard. Saccharine vocals by Sirena make for a strong lead-up to an emphatic synth lead which builds up to a drop designed to make a crowd of a few thousand jump up and down in unison. Things are really starting to kick into gear for Ink Entertainment’s Veld Music Festival, which takes place in Toronto on August 1st and 2nd. For its fourth outing, the festival is looking to capitalize on mistakes of the past and so far, it certainly looking promising. Already announced headliners include deadmau5 and Hardwell, and while tickets are still available, they’ll surely sell out soon.
And so, with the promotion and marketing machine now in full swing, Ink has decided to raise the excitement/awareness levels even more by releasing a 10 minute aftermovie, showcasing the best of what Veld had to offer in 2014. Similar to most aftermovies, we watch as crowds of festivalgoers sing and dance to the music of many of the artists who appeared at the festival last year, including, but not limited to, Zedd, Dvbbs, Martin Garrix, Adventure Club, Armin van Buuren, Sebastian Ingrosso, Calvin Harris and more.

Hardwell is closing out the year with a special mix that encompasses some of 2014’s hottest tracks. Taking to his podcast, Hardwell On Air, the Dutch DJ has put together a two hour episode that will be released in two parts, the first of which was uploaded today.
Featuring music from the producer himself, along with a few Revealed Recordings label mates and some of Edm’s hottest artists, like Zedd, Galantis, Dada Life, Oliver Heldens and many more, the mix is full of big room tracks and gives us a nice sample of some of the best that the genre had to offer in 2014.
Even if you don’t dig the song selection here, it’s very well mixed and shines a light on some great remixes that probably flew under the radar this year. It’s a solid hour of music and I’d definitely suggest giving it...

Former Swedish House Mafia members Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell, or Axwell /\ Ingrosso as they’re being called these days, have released a huge new progressive house anthem this week. Titled “Can’t Hold Us Down,” the track will be appearing on their upcoming album and at nearly six and a half minutes, it’s a big one.
Heavy on the bass and electro synths, the song incorporates signature sounds from both DJs and shows a promising new direction for the super duo. It’s different from the music that they used to make back when they were a part of Swedish House Mafia, but it’s an exciting and unique track that is certainly heads and shoulders above most of the cookie cutter Edm that we’re hearing nowadays.

Despite being based on popularity rather than talent, people make a pretty deal out of this list every year, and even though it gets a lot of criticism, it’s always fun to see who comes out on top.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, DJ Mag announced the results of their poll and once again, Hardwell emerged victorious, taking the number one spot for the second year in a row. Not far behind him were all the usual suspects (Tiesto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Avicii, Martin Garrix etc.) and overall, this list is mostly what everyone predicted from the start, as it always is.

Given the subarctic winter we've been experiencing in the Northeast this year, South by Southwest (SXSW), which takes place annually in balmy Austin, Texas, was something we were looking forward to even more than usual. Warm weather, spicy Mexican food, and the hottest movies imaginable all added to create a thoroughly thawing experience.
There wasn't a single Omg-you-have-to-see-this movie like there was last year, when "Short Term 12" made its debut, but the festival's lineup was quietly powerful, full of movies that were easy to miss, but at your own peril. There were a handful of loud, shout-y debuts, but some of those missed the mark completely, leaving room for the smaller movies to reach in and steal my heart.

When Edm supergroup Swedish House Mafia announced that they would be breaking up, fans around the world were shocked. Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello had become three of the biggest names in the industry and to hear that they would be going their separate ways was very upsetting news. Well, at least for some people.
For director Christian Larson, he saw it as a chance to continue what he started and finish the journey that he first embarked on with the band several years ago, when he followed them around for Take One: A Documentary Film About Swedish House Mafia. This time, Larson filmed the DJ trio during their last ever world tour, capturing everything from the sold out stadium shows to the tensions boiling beneath the surface between these three longtime friends.
Titled Leave The World Behind, the documentary premiered this year at SXSW and proved to be an absolute crowd pleaser.

Leave The World Behind, Christian Larson’s documentary about Edm super-act Swedish House Mafia, is a frustrating experience. Following the band on their last tour, the film hints and teases at what could be a potentially very interesting look at the breakup of the greatest DJs of the last decade (a sentiment I agree with). However, Larson never pulls back enough layers or digs down very deep, instead choosing to just gloss over the full story and only address it with superficial insights from the band’s members (Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso) that do little to fill in the blanks on what is already a puzzling situation.
When Swedish House Mafia announced that they would be breaking up, fans of the group were in shock. After achieving such monumental success and essentially becoming the modern face of mainstream Edm, we were left stupefied at why the band was going their separate ways.

The premise of the 30-second clip is the resounding drops that characterize Edm music — capturing a brief yet hilarious moment shared between Axwell, Angello and a fan. After signing the fan’s T-shirt, Axwell stops the fan and asks her if she knows the song playing in the background. Unfazed that the girl looks as if she might burst into tears of joy, Axwell continues: “You know what normally happens in about three seconds?”“The drop,” she responds. Immediately following her response, Axwell shoots up out of his seat, perfectly in time with the music—the drop,...
