Season 2 of The Sandman has cast three new siblings of The Endless family: Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester and Barry Sloane.
Netflix’s The Sandman is getting ready for season 2 as the streamer announces new additions to the series’ cast.
Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester and Barry Sloane have been cast in the series as Delirium, Destiny and The Prodigal respectively. These are the three remaining siblings of the Endless family.
Season 2 was announced first in November 2022 but the production itself was severely delayed by the Hollywood strikes in 2023. It looks like things are back on track as a new, very short teaser has been released.

After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end – and today, a press release reveals that the cast of the new batch of episodes includes Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. Their characters can be seen in this promo clip:

Wake up, fans of “The Sandman,” we’ve got some Season 2 news for you: The Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s epic graphic novel series has cast the final three siblings in the “Endless Family” of Tom Sturridge’s Dream — Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”
In “The Sandman” comic book series, The Prodigal is the estranged Endless sibling named Destruction, but Netflix has taken care to label Sloane’s role as “The Prodigal,” which is the way the character is referred to throughout the first volumes of the story. The three new castings point to “The Sandman” Season 2 covering the graphic novel’s iconic installment, “Season of Mists.”
The trio of new “The Sandman” Season 2 actors will join the Endless siblings returning from Season 1: Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

Jamie Child’s directing debut follows a former motocross champ through tedious scrapes and strident geezer movie cliches
It could theoretically be an enticing proposition: a moody crime thriller set in the north-east, with proven TV talent Jamie Childs making his feature directing debut. But this lands with a sickening thud: what we get is a charmless anti-Get-Carter of dullness, with all the strident geezer movie cliches that somehow stay stubbornly alive in British cinema. The action sequences are lifeless and often simply tedious, the characters are inert and unconvincing and there is some catatonically wooden acting.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen plays Jack Dawson, nicknamed “Jackdaw”; he is a biker and former motocross champ who has come back to his home town after a spell in the army. In need of cash, he rashly accepts a dodgy job from a criminal acquaintance in the club scene to pick up a hidden package.

60 years ago, Doctor Who was created with a strong educational element, mixing science and history facts with adventure. Initially some stories featured no science-fiction elements outside of the Tardis and its crew. This story format petered out by the fourth season, and ′The Highlanders′ was the last example until ′Black Orchid′ in 1982.
The final story of the second season created the ′Pseudo-historical′ format – a story set in Earth′s history but with an additional science-fiction element to the Tardis crew. This format persists to the present day. By ′Best Historical Episodes′ here, we don’t mean the dozen or so purely historical stories, but are including pseudo-historical stories too.
Some of these stories have a historical setting based around a historical celebrity. Others are more intertwined with historical events and use that setting as a springboard for their stories, but they all represent the best the show has delivered so far.

Four-part documentary series “Murder of God’s Banker” is set for an international debut on streamer Paramount+.
In 1982, Roberto Calvi, a fugitive financier known as “God’s Banker,” was found hanging from London’s Blackfriars Bridge. What starts as an investigation surrounding one man’s death, quickly expands into a story of international intrigue, as it’s revealed that Calvi was in business with the Vatican, the Mafia, as well as neo-fascist groups in Italy. The documentary uses archival footage, stylized dramatizations and interviews with notable journalists and historians to uncover the truth behind Calvi’s murder while delving into the layers of corruption at the root of global money and power.
The series is produced by Paramount, in partnership with Creative Chaos vmg. It is written and directed by Tom Donahue. Executive producers include Ilan Arboleda, Donahue and Mike Holz, with Jessicya Materano and Jordan Bogdonavage as co-executive producers.

To clarify, by stunts we mean simulated action requiring special skill to achieve, not publicity stunts (though there’s an article in that). At last, Den of Geek publishes an article for the people who – when watching ‘The Sontaran Experiment’ – tap their partner on the shoulder and say knowledgeably: ‘If you look carefully you can see it’s Terry Walsh’. For these people’s partners we can, alas, only offer the solace that all things must pass.
A key name associated with stunts in Doctor Who is Derek Ware, who arranged fight scenes in the very first story and later founded the Havoc stunt team who were regularly involved in the early-Seventies. Doctor Who isn’t a show heavily associated with stunts anymore, but they’re still a key part of the show. Jodie Whittaker still hurled herself into boxes and injured herself during the making of ‘Flux’. We’re...

As a newcomer to Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series “The Sandman”, I came to Netflix’s adaptation with an open mind and curious eye. Knowing this 1989 title had spawned onscreen spinoffs of “Sandman” characters — “Lucifer,” “Constantine,” etcetera — but never one of its own, it was hard not to wonder what about it might have made a live-action version so hard that it never happened until now. As I went back and forth between the TV show and the original volumes, though, the difficulty that any production would have in tackling its scope became clearer — and made Netflix’s result more impressive, too.
As adapted by Gaiman, Allan Heinberg (“Wonder Woman”), and David S. Goyer, TV’s “The Sandman” errs toward a literal translation of the comics as often as possible. For as complex as the series’ mythology becomes, the show finds a way to introduce new fans without completely confusing them.

This article is presented by:
Lucifer Morningstar is a frequent dark guest of Western culture, with depictions of the fallen angel stretching back to Biblical times and even before that in elemental forms. In Neil Gaiman’s hallowed comic The Sandman, however, Lucifer is a little different from his usual representation. The Sandman‘s Lucifer is bored of ruling hell for billions of years and he’s about to make that boredom everyone else’s problem.
Funnily enough, Netflix already has played host to Gaiman’s version of the devil, having produced the final three seasons of the Tom Ellis-starring Lucifer (formerly of Fox). With its adaptation of The Sandman though, Netflix and series producers Gaiman and Allan Heinberg wanted to honor the comic with a slightly remixed interpretation of the Dark Prince from Ellis’s. And that search took them directly to the shores of Tarth in Westeros’s Stormlands.

To call any one of the Shadow and Bone cast members a “breakout” is difficult, given that this young cast of relative newcomers is so freaking talented across the ensemble. That being said, Amita Suman, the Nepali-born British actress who plays Inej Ghafa, absolutely kills it in her performance as the knives-wielding assassin who believes in the Sun Summoner, her friends, and the sanctity of life. I’m not surprised, given that Suman has appeared on one of Den of Geek’s other favorite genre shows, Doctor Who, back in 2018, playing an integral role in one of NuWho’s best episodes ever: “Demons of the Punjab.”

His Dark Materials series one goes out with a bang and the promise of even better to come. Spoilers ahead…
This His Dark Materials review contains spoilers.
His Dark Materials Episode 8
Before anything else, the feet have to be right. Whether you’re performing a dance move or throwing a jab, everything springs from the feet. In this finale, His Dark Materials was able to pull off balletic pirouettes and land every punch, all because, months ago, it put itself in a solid stance by casting the remarkable Dafne Keen.
Keen is remarkable. She has been throughout, but she’s especially so in this finale. Episode eight gave her a series of long, quiet, emotional two-handers – the kind of scenes that leave an actor nowhere to hide.
Through clever editing and canny direction, there are tricks to make young actors look good. Fleeting moments can be captured...

This week’s episode is called “The Fight to the Death” for good reason: Two enormous ice bears battle for the crown of their kingdom. There’s bellowing and roaring, biting and clawing. Two animals enter the ring. Only one is left standing.
And that’s not the scariest thing that happens in this hour — not by a long shot. But it’s as good a place to start talking about what goes down in this very eventful penultimate episode as any.
The battle only happens thanks to the ingenuity,...

Actors Ruth Wilson and Clarke Peters took the dais at Ccxp to talk about HBO fantasy drama His Dark Materials, based on the best-selling novels by Philip Pullman. The two went into detail about their characters and how it has been like working on such an ambitious story about Dafne Keen’s Lyra, who, after searching for her kidnapped friend, uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust.
Keen wasn’t able to attend the panel and sent a message of thanks via a video before the actors talked about the show, which tackles intense and heavy topics and themes is just as relevant to children as it is to adults. “We shouldn’t underestimate children,” said Peters. He references a quote that says “Out of the mouths of babes comes truth.”
He adds, “With [His Dark Materials], there are mature themes. If discussed in front of children,...

It really doesn’t feel like that long ago that we were eagerly awaiting the debut of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor and now we’re almost at the end of her first season in the Tardis.
Yes, believe it or not, Doctor Who season 11 reaches its ninth and penultimate installment this week with “It Takes You Away,” which looks to be a creepy one set in the Norwegian countryside. The episode’s written by Ed Hime, a newcomer to the Doctor Who universe, and directed by Jamie Childs, a Who pro, who’s already helmed two episodes this season and will also handle the finale.
Guest stars include Ellie Wallwork and Kevin Eldon and the synopsis – seen below – teases that this week’s mystery centers on a derelict cottage, a girl in need and a monster in the woods.

It’s fair to say that last night’s outing of Doctor Who was mediocre, with a lot of things not really working too well. Aside from a superb guest spot by Alan Cumming – which the fans went crazy for – there wasn’t much that stuck out as being memorable. Thankfully, then, the next episode looks to get things back on track as we return to the present day.
The promo for the upcoming installment, titled “It Takes You Away,” can be seen above and teases a Norwegian nightmare for the Doctor and her companions. Written by Ed Hime (Skins) and directed by Jamie Childs, who’s already given us “The Woman Who Fell to Earth,” and “Demons of the Punjab” this season, the gang’s next outing will see them wind up in the Scandinavian country, where they encounter a “boarded-up cottage and a girl named Hanne who is in need of their help.

We’ve just had the sixth episode of Doctor Who season 11, which means there’s only four more to go until we don’t have the Tardis on our screens every Sunday again. We previously learned the details for the next two outings and now, the titles and synopses have been released for episode 9 and the grand finale, episode 10.
First up, the penultimate installment of season 11 is called “It Takes You Away,” from writer Ed Hime and director Jamie Childs (his third this season). Guest stars include Ellie Wallwork and Kevin Eldon and it promises to take the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends to creepy rural Norway.
“On the edge of a Norwegian fjord, in the present day, The Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz discover a boarded-up cottage and a girl named Hanne in need of their help. What has happened here? What monster lurks in the woods around the cottage – and beyond?...

It has to be said that the quality of Doctor Who season 11 has been a little up and down so far, but six episodes in and it seems a pattern’s emerging: historical adventures are where this new era of the show excels. Three weeks after the superlative “Rosa,” we have “Demons of the Punjab,” another installment that travels back to a dark period of human history and tells an intelligent, genuinely moving story.

Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor unleashed 8.2M viewers and a 40.1% share for BBC One in the UK as the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who smashed the performance of recent airings.
This compared to Peter Capaldi’s swansong season, which opened with 4.6M (25%) overnight viewers in the UK in April 2017, largely in line with 2015’s season opener.
To put this further into context, BBC One terror thriller Bodyguard opened with 6.7M viewers and a 35% share to become the biggest new drama launch of the year.
Her entrance was also bigger than debuts by previous doctors including David Tennant, Matt Smith and Capaldi.
The first season under the leadership of Chris Chibnall saw Whittaker’s Doctor joined by new friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh). The next era started with the The Woman Who Fell to Earth episode, which was written by Chibnall and directed by Jamie Childs.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Doctor Who” Season 11, Episode 1, “The Woman Who Fell to Earth.”]
Jodie Whittaker bursts out of the gate with vitality, humor, and grace in her official “Doctor Who” debut, giving an engaging performance that does the Time Lord pedigree proud. After 50 years of men in the role, the Doctor is now a woman, but viewers tuning in for the first time to witness Whittaker’s historic assumption of the Doctor’s mantle will find no barrier to entry. Her regeneration has gone wonky, so she and the audience are figuring everything out together. She’s forgotten everyday words, mixes up common sensations, and doesn’t even know her own name. Nevertheless, she is undeterred in her calling as humanity’s champion. “When people need help, I never refuse,” she declares.
Goofy and curious, commanding and contemplative, Thirteen is already well on her way to demonstrating the complex emotional makeup that is the Doctor.

The Tardis just about lands. Frazzled, but intact. Inside, for the first time since last Christmas, we see Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor, stepping through a massive collection of bras, knocking over make-up containers and a pile of thick, miserable, monthly fashion magazines. She presses stop on the DVD, frustrated that she won’t get through her regular evening viewing of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Guzzling a Mirage and lemonade, she quickly pops into the bathroom for half an hour to freshen up, and she emerges.
All those haters on the internet had it absolutely bang on. Who knew?

‘Doctor Who’ Season 11 Trailer: Jodie Whittaker Is Starting Again, Sonic Screwdriver in Hand (Video)
The (new) Doctor is in.
BBC America released the official trailer for the upcoming season of “Doctor Who” Thursday, showing new lead Jodie Whittaker in all her badass glory. Whittaker, as fans already know, will play the series’ first ever female Time Lord — a part that is not to be taken lightly. But based on the one-minute preview, she was “born for this.”
Peter Capaldi portrayed the 12th Doctor on the long-running series, giving up his sonic screw driver and keys to the Tardis during last year’s Christmas Special after making it known earlier in the year that he’d be exiting.

The news that Jodie Whittaker would be taking on the role of the 13th Doctor has been out for some time, but every new glimpse of her take on the iconic role seems to prove that gender has nothing to do with adventures through space and time.
