In the fall of 2010, Peter M. Lenkov took a big gamble, re-envisioning a well-remembered police procedural from the past for new generations.
It was a bet that paid off big time as Hawaii Five-0 said "Aloha" after 10 seasons on Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 22.
Reboots are a tricky business as creators are messing with viewers' sense of nostalgia.
Five-0 is undoubtedly the most successful reboot. Other top-notch efforts include One Day at a Time, Battlestar Galactica, Charmed, Roswell, Dynasty, and Lost in Space.
Consigned to the scraphead of history are such messes as Charlie's Angels and Bionic Woman.
Lenkov, previously known as executive producer of CSI: New York and 24, made all the right moves with this reboot.
He kept the gorgeous scenery of Hawaii as the backdrop for exciting action sequences.
He kept the iconic theme song, one of the two best themes in TV history.
That's what they call...

MacGyver is staging a Lost reunion.
An upcoming episode of the CBS procedural will find Lost alumni Jorge Garcia and Henry Ian Cusick sharing the screen.
"Look who came out to playyayy," said a clearly excited Cusick via Twitter.
He shared the following photo:
"Anyone call for a conspiracy theorist?" reads a tweet from the official MacGyver Twitter page, adding:
"@jorgegarcia (Jerry Ortega from @HawaiiFive0CBS) will guest star on an upcoming episode of #MacGyver!"
How exciting! If you watch Lost online, you know Hurley and Desmond were fan-favorites from the moment they graced the screen.
Lost was such a pivotal show because it paved the way for the shows that came after it, and having these two back on-screen together will make for some great TV.

Quinn Liu may not have been a great fit as a military policeman. But she's enjoying her rebirth as a member of Steve McGarrett's Hawaii Five-0 task force.
So is Katrina Law, who plays Quinn on the long-running CBS procedural Hawaii Five-0, now airing at 8/9c Fridays.
Law is best known for her roles as Mira on Spartacus and as Nyssa al Ghul on Arrow, two other tough female characters.

During a recent break from filming, Law talked about her kick-ass character, her reception on the series, and motherhood.

Jorge Garcia is best known to television audiences as the lovable island castaway on ABC’s “Lost” and, more recently, as Jerry Ortega on “Hawaii Five-0,” but he’s on the brink of tackling a very different kind of project: The actor is set to star in his first Spanish-language feature as the lead in “Killing Will Willys,” the directorial debut of Chilean filmmaker Gaspar Antillo, which begins production this week. Netflix will release the project worldwide following a theatrical release in Chile.
The film is the latest project from Fabula, the production company co-founded by brothers Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín. The pair recently wrapped production on Pablo Larraín’s “Ema,” the director’s first feature since “Jackie.” While “Ema” was shot in the coastal city of Valparaiso, the production for “Killing Will Willys” will take place the southern town of Puerto Octay in addition to Santiago.

Hey, "Hawaii Five-o" peeps. We regrettably have to tell you that your favorite show has hit another break mode, so the new episode 11 will not be shown tonight. Instead, CBS will be airing some boring Christmas special. The new episode 11, labeled, "Kuleana," is set to air on Friday night, January 8th, 2016 at 8pm central time, so be sure to jot that date down on your TV calendars. CBS did serve up an official synopsis for episode 11. It reads like this: "While McGarrett and Danny attend a couples retreat in Maui to work on their partnership issues, Kamekona's dangerous past is going to come back to haunt him." It stars: Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett), Scott Caan (Danny "Danno" Williams), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua), Masi Oka (Dr. Max Bergman), Chi McBride (Lou Grover) and Jorge Garcia (Jerry Ortega).
