“The Devil Wears Prada” cast members Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt reunited at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards to present best actor in a comedy series. Blunt was also a nominee at the award ceremony for supporting actress thanks to her role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”
Streep took to the stage first alone and told the crowd that she had forgotten her glasses and the envelope with this year’s winner listed. Hathaway and Blunt then appeared to hand Streep her missing items, a nod to their roles as assistants to Miranda Priestly (Streep) in “The Devil Wears Prada.”
“Meryl and Miranda Priestly are sort of like twins,” Blunt said, to which Streep fiercely disagreed.
“No no. That wasn’t a question,” Hathaway told Streep in a nod to one of Miranda’s most icy lines of dialogue in the film.

The Elton John-Shaina Taub stage musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which recently ended a five-week engagement in Chicago, is “not ready” for subsequent stagings, John said today, seeming to end speculation that a Broadway or West End production was in the immediate offing.
“Devil Wears Prada was in preview in Chicago, and it’s not ready,” John said in an interview with BBC Radio2’s Zoe Ball, who asked if the show was coming to London. “It’ll be ready in about another year. We can’t get our theater anyways.”
In the meantime, the rock icon will focus on Tammy Faye, the musical he co-wrote with Jake Schears that opens this fall at London’s Almeida Theater.
Although John didn’t go into detail about what, exactly, isn’t working with Prada – he phoned into the radio show to plug his “Hold Me Closer” single with Britney Spears...

Editor’s Note: Deadline closely covered the seismic impact that disruption, and the pandemic had on every segment of film, TV and stage, and the companies that make and distribute them. This will start a series of occasional features on how they’ve emerged from the darkness of the past two plus years.
Verve is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Two years after the agency hit the decade mark.
When the agency started by former Endeavor lit agents Bill Weinstein, Adam Levine and Bryan Besser hit the 10-year milestone, grand celebrations of any kind would have been unseemly. While Verve mustered through without any layoffs and furloughs that beset most other agencies, while it also created the first crack in the resolve of agencies when WGA successfully forced the percenteries to end packaging and affiliated production companies, the Covid pandemic made the uncorking of champagne impossible, with most of Hollywood shuttered in their homes.

Exclusive: The pre-Broadway engagement of the Elton John-Shaina Taub musical The Devil Wears Prada is showing its fashion sense for the first time in Prada-appropriate stylized photos provided exclusively to Deadline.
See the pictures below.
The musical, which begins a limited five-week Chicago engagement on July 19, stars Beth Leavel as Miranda Priestly and Taylor Iman Jones as Andy Sachs – the roles played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 film version – and the new photos show the actors looking suitably chic as the iconic fashionistas.
In case you somehow missed Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling 2003 novel or the subsequent hit film, The Devil Wears Prada tells the story of young Andy Sachs (Jones) who has just landed a dream job at the fashion bible Runway Magazine. The dream, of course, turns nightmarish thanks to the tyrannical rule and rigidly high standards of Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Leavel), an Anna Wintour-ish diva who takes no prisoners.

Everyone's favorite actor-centric Web series "Submissions Only" just wrapped shooting its third season, and a special preview event of the first episode will premiere at 54 Below on Friday, Aug. 2. The end of Season 2 found the actor's anti-heroine Penny Riley finally getting a job—in an Off-Broadway musical called "Jeremy's Fort"—but now that Penny's employed, show creators Kate Wetherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger tell Backstage that viewers will see more of the rehearsal process versus the audition process. "Funny things arise that wouldn’t happen under normal circumstances," Keenan-Bolger says of rehearsal, adding that introducing a fight coordinator was one of his favorite parts of Season 3. "It definitely amplifies the hilarity and the drama of the situation. You see everyone's true colors in a rehearsal." But just because an actor is employed, it's not all bells and rainbows. For fans of Broadway and/or webisodes, consider supporting theater’s favorite webseries “Submissions Only,” which recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its third season. Since its premiere in 2010, “Submissions Only” has shown what really goes on off the Broadway stage with the help of high-profile guest stars like Nick Jonas, Kristin Chenoweth, and Chita Rivera. The series follows the friendship of two theater professionals, an actor (Wetherhead) and a casting director (Colin Hanlon), as they try to build careers in the notoriously tricky world of Broadway. Co-creators Kate Wetherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger have set their fundraising goal at $50,000. “The demand from our fans for a Season Three has been strong and clear,” said Wetherhead in a statement. “We’re very excited to tell...
