Is it time for NCIS: Dallas?
Probably not, based on the events of NCIS Season 21 Episode 9.
It was a bad week for the franchise, with NCIS: Hawaii being canceled, without warning, after its third season.
And right after Sam Hanna of NCIS: Los Angeles fame came on board for an indefinite stay.
It appears his visit will be for only one season. That's a pity since this new lineup was only beginning to hit its stride.
Apparently, the franchise is sticking with sure things. Beyond a second season of NCIS: Sydney, what else is coming is very NCIS-centric: NCIS: Origins, aka the Young Jethro Gibbs Chronicles, and the unnamed adventures of Tony and Ziva.
Besides, Jo, the innkeeper/small-town sheriff, didn't strike me as a character around which to build a spinoff.
Maybe this episode was, to some degree, poking fun at Yellowstone. Then again, maybe not.

Contains spoilers for Murder is Easy including the identity of the murderer.
A Christmas Christie is a treat and Murder is Easy scratches that itch very nicely. Telling the story of a rural village of two halves where people keep getting murdered while the police seemingly do nothing, this latest adap written by Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre makes some meaty changes to Christie’s original story. Most noticeably our hero, Luke Fitzwilliam (David Jonsson) is no longer a white policeman but a young Nigerian diplomat. After encountering a lady on a train (Penelope Wilton) who tells him about the deaths in the village and that they were carried out by a respectable person with a point to make, and who is subsequently killed herself, Fitzwilliam feels it’s his duty to find out what’s going on.

Friends star Matthew Perry leaves behind a legacy of perfect comedic timing. Sadly, he died in October 2023. While reports suggest Perry hoped to have a wife and kids someday, he never married — though he considered engagement with his longtime girlfriend and fellow actor, Lizzy Caplan. Here’s what Caplan told Perry after their failed romance.
Matthew Perry says his ex, Lizzy Caplan, said she had ‘no room’ for him in her life after she got engaged
Matthew Perry and Lizzy Caplan had a longstanding relationship of nearly six years. They began dating in 2006 when Perry crashed her 23rd birthday party. They went on to date until 2012. While Perry planned on getting down on one knee for Caplan, he never did, which may have played into the demise of their romance.
Perry discussed his relationship with Caplan in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. During their relationship, the actors were notoriously private.

"He was a petty tyrant and utterly incompetent." Showtime has unveiled an official trailer for filmmaker William Friedkin's final film titled The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, arriving for streaming in October. This recently premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival out of competition. It was shot in early 2023, with Guillermo del Toro shadowing Friedkin on set; Friedkin passed away in August just before he could attend the premiere. Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, based on the acclaimed novel / play, follows a U.S. naval first officer who's standing trial for orchestrating a mutiny after his captain shows signs of becoming unhinged and jeopardizes the lives of his crew. It's one of the best plays as a film I've ever seen - here's my full review. A gripping, fascinating intellectual examination of authority and insanity. Plenty to discuss. Friedkin's The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial stars Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Clarke, Jake Lacy, Monica Raymund, Lewis Pullman,...

‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ Trailer: William Friedkin’s Swan Song Is a Military Courtroom Drama
William Friedkin’s final feature “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial” is debuting on Showtime.
Friedkin, who died in August 2023 at age 87, wrote and directed the adaptation of Herman Wouk’s 1953 play, itself adapted from his own Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The film version, which takes place entirely inside a courtroom, follows a U.S. naval first officer (Jake Lacy) standing trial for orchestrating a mutiny after his captain (Kiefer Sutherland). The captain showed signs of becoming unstable and, the first office alleges, jeopardized the lives of his crew. Jason Clarke portrays skeptical naval lawyer Barney Greenwald who agrees to defend Lacy’s character, Lt. Steve Maryk.
As the trial progresses, Greenwald becomes increasingly concerned and questions if the events aboard the Caine were deemed a true mutiny or simply the courageous acts of a group of sailors who did not trust their unstable leader.

Republic Pictures President Dan Cohen and producer Annabelle Dunne were among the main representatives of William Friedkin’s last film The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial at its posthumous world premiere at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend.
Taking place less than a month after Friedkin died at the age of 87 on August 7, it was an emotional night for both.
Alongside tributes from this year’s jury president Damien Chazelle and Venice director Alberto Barbera, Dunne took to the stage to share anecdotes, including how Guillermo del Toro and J.J. Abrams became involved as back-up directors after Friedkin’s age made it impossible to secure a completion bond.
Deadline caught up with the pair on the terrace of the Venice Lido’s Excelsior Hotel the next day, ahead of a screening of Friedkin’s The Exorcist in Venice Classics.

Legendary filmmaker William Friedkin is sadly no longer with us, but audiences across the globe can expect to watch his very last writing/directing effort in just a few weeks. /Film previously reported that Friedkin's next and last project would be "The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial," based on writer Herman Wouk's 1952 book (which he later turned into a stage play) and the second major adaptation of the story on the big screen following the Humphrey Bogart-starring film in 1954. Scheduled to premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival, Paramount has just announced that the film will be made available on Paramount+ streaming in October -- for those subscribed to the platform's Showtime plan, that is -- before making its linear debut on Showtime proper a few days later.
For those unfamiliar with the story, "The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial" is centered on a naval court-martial case involving a mutiny at sea.

The plan was for renowned director William Friedkin to be appearing at the Venice Film Festival presenting the out of competition World Premiere of his latest production, an adaptation of Herman Wouk’s 1954 play The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. Unfortunately Friedkin died August 7th, but the show goes on anyway.
What Venice witnessed is a solid, no-frills, new film that Friedkin had said he always wanted to make. While it won’t stand on the same level of some of its director’s most vividly great achievements like his Oscar winning The French Connection, horror classic The Exorcist, or underrated (at the time at least) and ambitious Sorcerer, this version which he also adapted himself is a welcome addition to his filmography.
Often staged beginning on Broadway in 1954 with Henry Fonda and a star cast, it has gone through many other theatrical and television productions over the years, and of course...

At first glance, Lizzy Caplan’s character from FX on Hulu’s “Fleishman Is in Trouble” could be seen as an alternate-universe version of herself, right down to the name. As Libby, Caplan plays the best friend of Toby (Jesse Eisenberg), a newly divorced man looking to recapture some normalcy in a life that refuses to cooperate. Libby is not only the narrator for the entire series but also serves as a sounding board for a friend liberated from a flagging marriage. Plenty of Libby’s attentiveness stems from the character’s avoidance of her own issues, including a stagnating career and a marriage that she’s happy not to discuss whenever the opportunity arises.
To be clear: That does not reflect Caplan, who, unlike Libby, is thriving professionally and personally.

Decades after its release and six Oscar nominations later, the enduring image associated with 1987's hit thriller "Fatal Attraction" is, for many, a boiled bunny. Enraged by her married partner's decision to call off their brief affair, Alex Forrest (played by Glenn Close) attempts to send a message to Dan Gallagher by cooking his child's pet bunny. The cinematic moment spawned a new term for a jilted paramour but didn't deeply examine why someone would take such drastic actions.
Now, with the embracing of the antihero onscreen and the real-life push for mental health conversations to be shrouded in less stigma, entertainment media is painting a fuller picture of why people make the decisions they do - and that's obvious in Paramount+'s "Fatal Attraction" streaming reboot.

Lizzy Caplan has come a long way since starring as Janis Ian in the hit 2004 movie "Mean Girls," both personally and professionally. Since portraying the beloved witty and outspoken friend of Lindsay Lohan's Cady Heron, Caplan has landed roles on TV shows such as "Masters of Sex" and movies like the recent "Fleishman Is in Trouble." Currently, she stars alongside Joshua Jackson in Paramount+'s "Fatal Attraction."
Despite keeping a busy work schedule, Caplan has made family a priority. In fact, she's extremely proud of the life she's created with her husband, actor Tom Riley, whom she wed in September 2017, per People. "We got a lot of life in before we had a kid, so we were both very ready to do this," Caplan told Grazia USA in 2022.

Lizzy Caplan is lying. Well, let’s rephrase that: Lizzy Caplan is selectively truth-telling. Lounging in a gray Texas Longhorns T-shirt and yellow-green leggings, Caplan has such a stripped-down, let’s-talk-about-it approachability, you would think we were having a late-night sleepover chat instead of a cross-continental Zoom. But before I tell you what Caplan’s not telling me, I’ll begin by saying that the ocean between us has no effect on the quality of conversation. We are digging into everything — Caplan’s blizzard of a work year, parenting a...

The Nevers is coming to Tubi today. Viewers will see all 12 episodes of the first season air in rotation on the streaming service after their initial airing. Unfortunately, they aren't available on-demand so one has to watch them "live". An ad-supported streaming service, Tubi has made a deal to also stream all seasons of cancelled HBO shows like Westworld, Raised by Wolves, and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Production on The Nevers was shut down several times due to the pandemic. The historical sci-fi series debuted on HBO in April 2021 and aired for six episodes. The remaining six episodes were expected to be released in 2022 but never materialized. HBO cancelled the series in December and the search to find a new home to air the series began.

The Nevers, one of the many shows pulled off HBO Max, has finally landed at its new home on Tubi, with all 12 episodes becoming available on the platform starting February 13. The episodes will release in a brief window during this time, and executive producer and showrunner Philippa Goslett divulged to TVLine some new information about six never-before-seen episodes that will premiere on Tubi the same day. The Nevers is set against the backdrop of Victorian London in August of 1896. During that time, a supernatural event rocks the city and leaves specific individuals bestowed with special abilities ranging from “wondrous to disturbing.” Their abilities are referred to as “turns,” and these gifted humans are pushed into a new underclass filled with danger. When it becomes clear this new class needs protection, widow Amalia True (Outlander‘s Laura Donnelly) and young inventor Penance Adair (Vikings‘ Ann Skelly) take it upon themselves. The Nevers also stars Olivia Williams,...

HBO and HBO Max are becoming very unpredictable.
Ever since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, there have been plenty of controversial decisions from the higher-ups at the company.
If you thought Minx was the only cancellation this week, then we have bad news.
HBO Max has split up with Love Life, canceling the romantic anthology after two seasons.
The writing had been on the wall with the lack of updates following the Season 2 finale back in November 2021.
The first season was headlined by Anna Kendrick, while the second had William Jackson Harper at the forefront.
The series has also been pulled from HBO Max, meaning there's a chance fans will never get to rewatch the series again.
Sam Boyd, the creator and co-showrunner, reflected on the cancellation on Twitter.

In 2005, Steven Moffat wouldn’t have been as successful a Doctor Who showrunner as Russell T. Davies. The two are very different writers, with Moffat simultaneously introverted and romantic in comparison to Davies’ passionate tenure’s underlying cynicism. The latter was much better suited to introducing the show to a wider audience, and the former was better at interrogating the show’s tropes and characters (much easier to do if you’re going second). The two are in conversation with each other, consciously or not. Moffat started off one of his storylines towards the end of Davies’ final series.
Indeed, Moffat’s time on the show is in conversation with the entire history of Doctor Who, asking fundamental questions about the character’s identity, ethics and flaws, going right back to the character’s beginnings (near the beginning and end of his first incarnation) and asserting the importance of fear...

Netflix’s The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window is as much a parody as it is an homage to psychological thrillers like The Girl on the Train (starring Emily Blunt) and the streamer’s very own The Woman in the Window (starring Amy Adams).
