Director Zack Snyder revealed months ago that there will be two cuts of the movies in his upcoming two-part sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, which will be released through the Netflix streaming service on December 22nd and Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, which will reach Netflix on April 19, 2024. One cut will be something “anyone can enjoy and watch”, while the director’s cut will be a more explicit version that will allow fans to take “a deeper, harder dive” into the material. He has even said that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire has “close to an hour of extra content”… and now Netflix’s Tudum site has posted the runtime for the regular cut of the film. It’s 2 hours and 13 minutes. So it looks like the director’s cut will boost it up to around the 3 hour mark.

Filmmaker Zack Snyder has affirmed online speculation surrounding his forthcoming Netflix space opera Rebel Moon, confirming that it will be split into two films, with multiple cuts to be released of each installment.
Snyder’s comments came as part of an interview with Vanity Fair, also featuring his producing partner and wife, Deborah Snyder. In it, Deborah explains that the decision to expand Rebel Moon into a two-parter emerged from a dialogue with higher-ups at Netflix, including Film chairman Scott Stuber. “Originally, the script was one movie, but it was in ‘Zack form,'” she says. “It was 172 pages.”
In coming to understand that the film would come in at around a three-hour runtime, she explains, “Stuber was like, ‘On the service, under-two-hour movies really do better for some reason,’ even though you’ll binge-watch a series of eight episodes.

Zack Snyder is following up on “Army of the Dead” with “Rebel Moon,” an original sci-fi film that the director said is inspired by Akira Kurosawa movies and “Star Wars.”
Per an exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder, who will co-write and direct the upcoming film, has set the movie at Netflix, which was also home to the director’s zombie action-adventure film, “Army of the Dead.”
Snyder has long had an interest in creating a film inspired by Kurosawa and “Star Wars.” News broke in 2013 that Snyder was developing a Kurosawa-inspired “Star Wars” film that would’ve been loosely inspired by the classic 1954 film “Seven Samurai” where Jedi Knights and lightsabers would be used instead of ronin and samurai swords. Though the project never came to fruition, Snyder is moving forward with its core story and themes for “Rebel Moon,” albeit without any “Star Wars” connections.

That night was supposed to be a celebration. After more than five years of work on a rough and rowdy medieval epic several times larger than anything he’d ever made before (including his Best Picture-nominated “Hell or High Water”), and a desperate race to cut the thing together in time for its glitzy debut, “Outlaw King” director David Mackenzie had finally made it to the majestic Princess of Wales Theatre, where his latest movie had been invited to screen as the opening selection of the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
More than 2,000 critics and industry professionals — including Chris Pine, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and the rest of Mackenzie’s extraordinary cast — traveled from all over the world to witness the unveiling, eager for the first look at one of the fall’s most hotly anticipated contenders. The lights went down, the Netflix logo “ba-dummed!” across the massive screen, and the audience...

Writer-director Rob Letterman built his film career with a string of family-friendly flicks, from the animated adventures Shark Tale and Monsters vs Aliens to his first live-action effort Gulliver's Travels. Now the Hollywood Reporter reveals Letterman has inked a deal with Syfy Films that will give him a shot at more mature material. The newly created offshoot of Universal has acquired Letterman's script The Paranormalists, and the former kiddie flick crafter is attached to direct. Produced by Brian Grazer, Kim Roth and Sarah Bowen of the Universal-based Imagine Entertainment, the film will be a found-footage horror feature that focuses on a group of young people who enter a rumored haunted house with aims of debunking its reputation. About three months ago Bloody Disgusting reported that a new found footage flick was on its way from Universal called Paranormalists. After that we heard nothing. Now today confirmation has finally come.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures' Syfy Films has acquired Paranormalists, a pitch from Rob Letterman (Monsters Vs. Aliens), who is also attached to write and direct the project.
Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce, while Kim Roth and Sarah Bowen will exec produce. Gregory Noveck, Syfy's senior VP of production, will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
The storyline, which is in the vein of the "Ghost Hunters" reality series, follows two stoners and a tech guy who stumble upon some paranormal activity for the first time. More as it comes, but I say again, didn't we already kind of/sort of see this with Grave Encounters?
