If you love entertainment, grand-scale action, charismatic leads, and films about making films then you shouldn’t miss The Fall Guy. Directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by Drew Pearce, the romantic action-comedy film is a throwback to blockbusters which had only one purpose, entertainment. Directed by a previous stunt performer turned director himself The Fall Guy is entirely dedicated to the men and women who “take it on the chin” for our entertainment.
Based on a 1980s series of the same name by Glen A. Larson, the action-comedy film follows the story of a Hollywood stunt performer Colt Seavers who cuts ties with everyone after an accident including the love of his life Jody, a camerawoman. Cut to, 18 months later Colt is called back to be the stunt performer for the biggest action star in the world Tom Ryder on an epic sci-fi which happens to be Jody...

The show may have been called "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," but the chosen one (Sarah Michelle Gellar) fought all different types of monsters, not just the fangy, blood-sucky kind. For series creator Joss Whedon, this was to ensure his premise had enough to sustain itself in the transition from a movie to an ongoing TV series:
"Though ['Buffy'] had been a fun idea for a movie, I wasn't really sure if there was a whole series there, just about this girl going and killing vampires. So, I started to think about it and I came up with the notion of playing all sorts of horror movies in high school and making them really metaphors for how frightening and horrible high school is."
Whedon said as much in a 1998 interview (when "Buffy" had started its third season). In bringing these vampires to life onscreen, Whedon said there were two, contradictory rules: they had to look both demonic,...

“The Good Doctor” actress Lisa Edelstein told TheWrap that until she signed on to play a Holocaust survivor who adopts a native Canadian girl in the PBS drama “Little Bird,” she had “no idea” about the government program called “the Sixties Scoop.”
“It was a really horrible system. Everybody knew about it [at the time]. It was just considered the normal thing to do and it’s horrific,” she says of the thousands of indigenous children who were taken from their families in the 1960s.
Edelstein was able to talk about the six-part Canadian series, which premiered on Oct. 12, because PBS productions are considered “non-struck” work during the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Without directly addressing the harrowing Hamas attacks on Israel this week, she added, “Even in this horrific time period that we’re in right now, there’s something about storytelling and understanding each other’s trauma and trying to be human beings. This is very profound right now.

Brittany Ashton Holmes, an American former actress from California, found fame as a child with her portrayal of Darla in Penelope Spheeris’ The Little Rascals. Starring alongside Travis Tedford and Bug Hall, the 1994 family comedy film adapted from Hal Roach’s Our Gang, in retrospect, was a stepping stone for Holmes to pursue greater heights as a performer. That didn’t happen as she seemingly abandoned acting for another profession, to the surprise of fans who related to her character in the film. Born on the 27th of February 1989, Holmes was only five when she played Darla, a role that...

I hope Marvel announces the cast of its Fantastic Four reboot soon because casting rumors are getting out of control. For months, fans and industry insiders have speculated about who could star as members of Marvel’s first family, with several actors denying their involvement with the anticipated project. Mila Kunis recently denied she’s playing a female version of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, after being spotted at a deli with Matt Shakman, the film’s director.
While some may think a female version of Grimm sounds unlikely, it would not be the first time a female version of The Thing fought alongside the Fab Four. Have you ever heard of Darla Deering? She once dated Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), then joined Ant-Man, Medusa, and She-Hulk as the fourth member of a replacement Fantastic Four. Darla wears Thing Rings, which, when touched together, create the Thing Exoskeleton, a...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been one of the most anticipated 2023 movies. The Shazam! sequel has finally hit theaters, and fans are eager to see what it has in store. Adam Brody has talked at length about the one that got away, and with a Flash-led movie on the verge of release, one can only wonder how things would’ve ended up had Brody’s Barry Allen made it to the big screen in George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal. The epic superhero tale fell apart in early 2007 due to the impending writers’ strike and the loss of an Australian tax credit, and it continues to be one of Hollywood’s ultimate “what if?” stories.
So, when David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! made its way to the big screen in 2019, one of the most rewarding aspects of the film was Brody’s surprise cameo as the super-powered alter ego of Jack Dylan Grazer’s Freddy Freeman. It was not only perfect casting by virtue of the two actors’ similar wit, but it also allowed for a Justice League: Mortal reunion between Brody and D.J. Cotrona,...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a big movie. It’s essentially a team movie, with not only Billy Batson, but his entire foster family bringing a total of six superheroes to the table (not to mention the presence of Djimon Hounsou’s Wizard). And they’re facing off with three villains, in the form of Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso, and Rachel Zegler as Anthea. And then there are a menagerie of magical monsters that populate the film’s final act. And if all of that ain’t enough, there’s a massive DC cameo (which has been inexplicably spoiled in commercials for the film), plus some other fun deep cuts from throughout Shazam history.
So with all of this in mind, we sat down with director David F. Sandberg on the latest episode of...

DC and New Line Cinema’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods has started off its domestic box office run with $3.4 million in Thursday evening previews.
Prerelease tracking suggests the superhero sequel will open to $35 million this weekend, one of the lower starts for a Hollywood superhero pic. Others believe it has a shot at $40 million, although that would still be behind the $53.5 million domestic opening of the first Shazam! in 2019, including $5.9 million in previews. not adjusted for inflation.
Shazam 2‘s Rotten Tomatoes critics score is a ho-hum 55 percent. That compares to 90 percent for the 2019 movie.

DC and New Line Cinema’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods is hoping for some heavenly help when opening this weekend in thousands of theaters across the U.S. and world.

Plot: After the events in the previous film, it appears Shazam has made a bit of a blunder. It’s a big enough of one to bring the Daughters of Atlas to unleash a little Hell on Earth.
Review: One of the joys of David F. Sandberg’s Shazam was the filmmaker’s mix of humor with a touch of horror. The comedic superhero excelled with the laughs. Review: One of the joys of David F. Sandberg’s Shazam was the filmmaker’s mix of humor with a touch of horror. The comedic superhero excelled with the laughs. Shazam! Fury of the Gods comes four years after its predecessor, introducing new forces that threaten Billy Batson and his superpowered family. The DC Extended Universe is once again changing direction under new leadership, but the fandom still has the opportunity to explore this continuation. The sequel doesn’t improve on the original, although it finds the beats that comic fans are looking for.

The Shazamily is back, and on a much larger scale, but at its heart this superhero saga is still about family, and that’s the good thing here.
In 2019’s origin story (which goes way back to 1940 comics when the then-named Captain Marvel was introduced), a group of teens in a foster home, often bullied in school and going through life alone, bonded as a family and as their older superhero alter egos. That movie, from Swedish director David F. Sandberg, was a nice hit for the DC brand at Warners and even won over critics. So naturally we could expect a sequel, even as this comic book brand is undergoing major changes. Employing the same mix of humor and heart, but really amping up the super-heroics as it were, this second edition bodes well for its future in the uncertain DC Universe, at least in terms of delivering on what finicky fans expect.

2019’s Shazam! delivered a charming origin story of the DC Comics character Billy Batson, a teenage boy who meets a wizard who bestows on him the ability to become a grown-up superhero upon uttering the magic word. Now, Billy is back, along with his foster siblings, who have similar superhuman alter-egos, in the sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods. But like some children who aren’t so cute anymore after they’ve grown up a little, this follow-up lacks much of the appeal of its predecessor. While the film provides the elaborate action set pieces, colorful villains and save-the-world plot mechanics expected of the comic book movie genre, some of the magic is missing.
The story’s villains are the Daughters of Atlas, a trio of ancient goddesses who have come to Earth to reclaim the magical powers that the wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou) took from them. (Why they need them,...

Check out the brand new trailer for director David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.
Check out the trailer breakdown Here with Sandberg where he talks about dragons, the daughters of Atlas and the magic word.

When "Shazam!" hit theaters back in 2019, it was a breath of fresh air not only for the DC Extended Universe but for superhero media as well. While it obviously did have a big world-defining conflict that Billy Batson (Asher Angel and Zachary Levi) had to deal with, it was ultimately a coming-of-age tale all about becoming comfortable with yourself. You are able to create the best possible version of yourself, and that is perhaps best evidenced by the fact that Billy and his foster siblings can now fight crime as the Shazam Family.
So, where does that leave our heroes to go next? According to the latest trailer for "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," this puts them right in the path of the Daughters of Atlas, a sisterly duo consisting of Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), who seek nothing but total power. Sure, that sounds pretty generic for a superhero movie,...

"When Do I Go From Cute to Dangerous?"
That was the sign Blue made for the children's march, and it was honest and disturbing enough to really get the point across on Queen Sugar Season 5 Episode 7.
Would Blue, at 10, be old enough to receive that "down payment" beat down that Calvin's veteran officer talked about?
Nova's idea for a children's march was inspired until the permit didn't go through. When Ralph Angel and Darla insisted on holding up their signs anyway, I was scared for them, and that feeling wasn't wrong.
The encounter with the police officer was frightening because of how easily it could have turned into another tragedy. And although I'm sure the incident will give Ralph Angel and Darla nightmares, it likely changed Blue's outlook on the world forever.
Blue had never known that kind of fear before that moment. He'd never been faced with someone in...

There is such joy in the opening of Queen Sugar Season 5 Episode 2 that it's almost painful to watch, knowing what is headed their way.
Remember our real-life "Mid-March 2020," when we all thought that if we stood home for a couple of weeks, things would be back to normal? That seems like a lifetime ago.
But for now, Darla and Ralph Angel are swooning over their "small but stylish" wedding plans and a honeymoon in New York City. It all sounds wonderful, and it's an event I desperately want to see, which is why it's so difficult to know the odds of the event happening any time soon are slim.
Ralph Angel: We get to choose how we deal with things. You hear me?
Darla: They can’t steal our joy unless we let them.

Tuesday’s Season 5 premiere of Queen Sugar perfectly captured that “calm before the storm” vibe in the early months of 2020 before the Covid pandemic turned the world as we knew it upside down.
It was just a year ago when large groups of people were congregating in close proximity in homes and restaurants without masks and social distancing guidelines. On one hand, it made sense that the installment, titled “Late-February 2020,” would show these scenes. As the OWN drama’s creator and EP, Ava DuVernay, recently revealed to TVLine, the first batch of Season 5 episodes were shot before the pandemic shuttered...

David Boreanaz has offered a pledge of public support to Charisma Carpenter, just days after his former costar detailed the “toxic” and “hostile” abuse she allegedly suffered under Buffyverse auteur Joss Whedon.
Though Carpenter — who played Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel — has alluded to her experiences with Whedon in the past, on Feb. 10 the actress posted a deeply detailed missive on social media, elaborating on her claims and recalling Whedon’s “history of being casually cruel,” his creation of “hostile and toxic work environments,” what the Angel showrunner allegedly said and did to her during her real-life pregnancy,...
