Caitlin Clark can earn up to $500,000 during her rookie season, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has claimed in an effort to quell outrage on the No. 1 draft choice’s low base salary.
The former Iowa star will make just $76,535 in base salary from the Indiana Fever, part of a four-year, $338,056 deal with the team. When that was revealed, outrage ensued, as the base is much lower than a comparable NBA amount.
Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in last year’s NBA draft, signeda four-year, $55.2 million rookie contract, the largest possible deal under the NBA’s current labor agreement. That comes to roughly $12 million in base salary as a rookie.
Engelbert has now clarified that Clark will likely make far more.
“[For a] CEO, do you just put the base pay in there? No, you put their bonus, you put their stock options, you put everything,” Engelbert said at a CNBC Changemakers event, according to NJ.

Boyfriend of Taylor Swift, Kansas City Chiefs, and Super Bowl winner, Travis Kelce, was recently on the New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
During the episode, Travis slipped up and made an interesting comment, which has fans of Swift buzzing all over the internet.
What Exactly Did Travis Kelce Say?
During the podcast, the Kelce brothers were talking about over 7-foot-tall Victor Wembanyama, an NBA player. Travis jokingly noted during the conversation that he believed Victor was made in a “lab” in France.
The conversation took an interesting turn when Travis referred to “lab-grown diamonds”, then stated he “can’t wait” until he (F’n) “makes one”. This comment had Swifties swooning with speculation over exactly what he meant, and it seems as if everyone is split on his innuendo.

The Rsn industry is continuing to fall apart as the Spurs are just the latest team to move games to local broadcast channels

The Black Eyed Peas frontman and Spears released their latest collaboration, “Mind Your Business”, late Thursday evening, to the delight of fans.
The pop-synth dance track pulsates with a hypnotic beat and a unique energy, as both Spears and will.i.am offer up vocals for the electronica-steeped musical offering, which also benefits from a stuck-in-your-head-for-days hook.
When the track was first announced, will.i.am dropped a visual via social media that began with a snippet of their track, “Scream & Shout”, from will.i.am’s 2013 album, #willpower. The song then cuts to a different upbeat techno beat where Spears is heard saying, “Mind your business, b**ch.”

Pop star Britney Spears has demanded a public apology from NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s guard who “backhanded” her causing her to fall to the ground.
In an Instagram video, Spears (41), spoke about the run-in with the basketball player’s bodyguard in Vegas last week.
“I wanna share with you guys an incident that happened in Vegas that a lot of people are talking about,” she stated.
With her hands on her hips, wearing a mini skirt, beige boots, and a cropped floral blouse, Britney said: “I heard on the news this radio station talking smack and talking s**t that’s why I’m addressing it.”
She said the radio presenters were “saying that I deserved to be smacked, security was doing their job and protecting their client”.
Britney recalled when she was on tour with Nsync in the early 2000s and was “knocked down by like three 12-year-olds trying to get my picture.

The “Toxic” singer’s “astonishingly moving story,” as per a press release, titled The Woman in Me, will be available beginning October 24, she revealed on Instagram Tuesday.
After multiple publishing houses fought over the memoir, it has been acquired by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
“Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher, Jennifer Bergstrom, told People. “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s most heralded rookie since LeBron James entered in 2003, didn’t exactly light up the Summer League scorecard in his debut.
But if opening night jitters held him back a tad on the scorecard, it didn’t matter on the scoreboard. The San Antonio Spurs topped the Charlotte Hornets 76-68, as former St. John’s star Josh Champagne led the Spurs with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Wembanyama made some slick passes in his 27 minutes of action, but shot a poor 2-13 from the field. He finished with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, although he did a solid job of protecting the rim with 5 blocks. He showed a good handle in bringing the ball up, and hit a 3-point shot, reflecting his all-around game.

Updated with Police Statement: One day after Britney Spears accused NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s security guard of hitting her as she attempted to say hello the Spurs No. 1 overall pick, Las Vegas police say it was Spears own hand that struck her face as the security guard attempted to slap her hand off of Wembanyama’s shoulder. No charges will be filed.
ABC affiliate KTNV13 obtained a copy of the report, which reads in part:
“Detectives and I were able to review surveillance footage of the event which showed Britney going to tap the Spurs player on the shoulder. When she touched the player [the security guard] pushes her hand off the player without looking which causes Britney’s hand to hit herself in the face.”

Victor Wembanyama has spoken publicly about the incident when one of his security guards slapped Britney Spears.
“We were in the hall. There was a lot of people, so people were calling [at] me, obviously. There was one person who was calling me but we talked before with security,” he told ESPN on Thursday.
He claims that when he was walking Spears was calling his name and “grabbed” him rather than tapping him on the shoulder.
“I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and didn’t stop. That person grabbed me from behind — not on my shoulder — she grabbed me from behind. I just know the security pushed her away.”

While ghosts by themselves are frightening, the idea that they can hurt the very people we love is several shades scarier. “The Conjuring” and “Insidious”—the two James Wan joints that have spun the two most successful and sophisticated supernatural horror franchises of the last decade—understood this timeless fear at a deep level. Through respective sequels and spin-offs that you probably have mixed up at least once, both of these collections handed us stories about loving but desperately trapped families, with only bad options to choose from in their ghost-infested lives.
Now “Insidious: The Red Door” revives the tale of one of these movie clans—the one haunted by a spooky form of sleepwalking starring the terrific “Scream King” Patrick Wilson, and not the other one that also stars the same Patrick Wilson—reuniting the Lamberts nearly a decade after the disturbing happenings of “Insidious: Chapter 2.” If you are...

The 2023 edition of the NBA Draft was the most-watched talent dispersal ever on any network, according to Nielsen. The first round averaged 4,928,000 viewers across ESPN and ABC, up 24% from last year’s first round on both platforms. It peaked with 6,085,000 viewers in the 8 p.m. Et quarter hour.
Rumors of massive trades in the first round never happened, and the drama of who would be the No. 1 pick was decided two months ago at the draft lottery, as France’s multitalented Victor Wembanyama was heralded as the best prospect since LeBron James began tearing up the NBA in 2003-2004.
The No. 2 and No. 3 picks were allegedly coveted by any number of teams, but the selections went pretty much to form, with Alabama’s Brandon Miller landing in Charlotte at No. 2, followed by Scoot Henderson of the G-League at No. 3 to the Portland Trailblazers.
