With Euphoria Season 3 on a perma-hold, the regular cast members are making good use of their time away.
Today, Deadline exclusively reported that Eric Dane will star with Jensen Ackles and Jessica Camacho in the upcoming Prime Video series Countdown.
The series, a thriller, comes from former One Chicago showrunner Derek Haas.
Other Euphoria stars have been extraordinarily prolific in their downtime from Euphoria.
Zendaya, who plays Rue Bennett, has become one of the biggest stars in America thanks to her role on the show and how she uses her time away wisely.
She’s starred in the Dune series and was recently seen in Challengers, which scored at the box office and in fans’ hearts.

Exclusive: Eric Dane (Euphoria) has been tapped to star opposite Jensen Ackles and Jessica Camacho in Countdown, Prime Video’s thriller drama series from One Chicago veteran Derek Haas.
His casting shouldn’t be alarming news for Euphoria fans. According to sources, there have been some promising signs as work on Season 3 scripts continues with creator Sam Levinson. Amid a production delay, HBO in March allowed the cast to take other acting jobs.
Should the network proceed with a third season — which I hear is still targeting a start of production later this year for a 2025 debut — filming will have to be done around the schedule of cast members like Dane who have booked new gigs. That is considered challenging but doable. Since March, Dane also signed up for pan-European miniseries Kabul, which is currently in production.

While primarily known for portraying Dean Winchester in Supernatural, Jensen Ackles made a strong comeback to the TV scene with The Boys where he played Soldier Boy. Thanks to that, Ackles has been experiencing a massive resurgence in popularity lately, and it seems like Supernatural and The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke wasn’t the only one who decided to capitalize on that.
Ackles and Haas Working on a Thriller Series
While CBS’ Tracker recently grabbed a piece of Jensen Ackles for itself, Prime Video had an even bigger and more enticing offer for the Supernatural alum. According to Variety, Ackles will play the lead role in the upcoming thriller series Countdown, which will see the actor work under Chicago Fire’s Derek Haas who will be running the show.

As it turns out, it will be just as thrilling.

Haas inked an exclusive deal with Prime Video after exiting Wolf Entertainment. Countdown is the first project to come from the pact.

George Martin has been building the world of Ice and Fire for decades, and HBO’s TV adaptation allowed the whole world to marvel upon his creation. The HBO series Game of Thrones is deemed as another entry in the long list of TV series that captivated audiences for years. However, while fans have appreciated the show for its grandeur and mesmerizing storyline, the series finale turned out to be quite disappointing for most. And seemingly George R.R. Martin began dreading this very problem after season 5.

Leaving a trail of disappointment in their wake, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss curtailed a certain major arc which made the ending seem abrupt. This particular approach that the show followed after season 5, began worrying George R.R. Martin. The author’s representative, Paul Haas, thus opened up about Martin’s thoughts on his behalf.

Awkwafina rose to fame with her idiosyncratic, trademark comedic stylings. Then she wowed us all with her against-type performance in Lulu Wang‘s “The Farewell,” which very nearly earned her an Oscar nomination back in 2019. She delivers another quiet, subdued role in the Hulu telefilm “Quiz Lady,” which could well reap her a career-first Emmy bid for acting.
Awkwafina plays the reserved Anne, who must compete on the game show she is obsessed with alongside her loud, abrasive, estranged sister Jenny (Sandra Oh) in order to pay off their mom’s gambling debts. The result is a heartwarming comedy that is one of the sweet treats of the year. Critics loved the movie and singled out Awkafina for particular praise.
Tania Hussain (Collider) exclaimed: “While Awkwafina has shown audiences a whacky, often one-dimensional side in some of her roles like the sitcom ‘Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens,’ she is able...

NBC has renewed most — but not all — of the shows in its two biggest franchises for the 2024-25 season.
The network has ordered new seasons of all three of its Chicago dramas — Med, Fire and Pd — along with Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu. Notably missing from the list is Law & Order: Organized Crime, whose status is “still under discussion,” according to NBC. All six series come from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television.
Svu will add to its record as the longest-running primetime drama in American TV history with a 26th season in 2024-25, while Law & Order — which recently saw the departure of series fixture Sam Waterston — will air its 24th. Chicago Med will hit double digits with its 10th season, Fire will air its 13th and Pd its 12th.

[This story contains spoilers from the second episode of Chicago Fire season 12, “Call Me McHolland.”]
In the eyes of Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman, multiple seasons of any show that brings what she considers to be continual grind from everyday action heroes is going to garner change. And that’s exactly what viewers saw Wednesday night, as old guard firefighters Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) struggled with the blows of Father Time in two separate, potentially career-ending dilemmas.
Faithful viewers of NBC’s long-running drama had been left wondering about Mouch’s fate after season 11, and whether the longtimer had survived shrapnel from a sniper’s bullet in the finale cliffhanger. It wasn’t until last week’s season 12 premiere that it was revealed that Mouch survived his near-deadly ordeal. But, as this week’s second episode showed, Mouch is still struggling with the effects of his injury, and has taken it upon himself...

Kelly Severide is coming back to the firehouse.
Taylor Kinney, who left “Chicago Fire” midway through Season 11, will be back for the upcoming 12th season, Variety confirms. It’s not yet determined how many episodes he will appear in. According to sources, his return will be toward the beginning of the season.
In January, the actor stepped away from the NBC procedural to deal with a personal matter. Kinney last appeared in the 14th episode of Season 11, which aired in February. In the March 1 episode, his character did not appear; Severide had left town to go to an arson investigation training program, jumping at an opportunity that was too big to pass up.
While he didn’t come back for the Season 11 finale, Jesse Spencer, who exited the show in 2021, made a guest appearance. Spencer has made numerous appearances since his departure, and during the finale, proposed to Sylvie Brett...

Investigators believe a man who fist-bumped PnB Rock as he entered a Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles last year was the one who tipped off killers to the “Middle Child” rapper’s location – and possibly supplied the gun used in his murder, sources and court documents allege.

Like so many before and after him, Frank Laloggia had a hard time when he first started out in the film business. Yet after booking several roles as an actor, the Rochester native seemed to finally catch his big break. He had been given the chance to write and direct a feature film. Unfortunately, Laloggia’s disillusionment with the industry set in while working on 1981’s Fear No Evil. Severe studio interference was the main cause of his disappointment, and as a result, Laloggia took an extended break from filmmaking. However, the time off between his debut and Lady in White proved to be beneficial; Laloggia returned from his long leave with what many regard as the best film of his career.
With a story partly based on a well-known urban legend from the director’s neck of the woods, it was understandable when people assumed Laloggia’s sophomore film...

In 2014 and 2015, Vertigo published Si Spencer’s eight-issue graphic novel Bodies, a mind-bending mystery about four police officers from different historical eras who discover the same corpse in the same London location, decades apart. Featuring detectives from the present day, the 1940s, the 1890s and 2053, it’s a complex conspiracy thriller about a very dark future. Originally illustrated by four artists – Dean Ormston, Phil Winslade, Meghan Hetrick and Tula Lotay – each era had its own distinct feel and look.
Spencer, who had also written on other Vertigo titles including Judge Dredd and Books of Magick: Life During Wartime, sadly passed away in February 2021, meaning he wasn’t able to see Paul Tomalin’s eight-part Netflix series adapted from his work. It’s out now, with a sprawling cast of characters including Boiling Point and This Is England’s Stephen Graham, several established actors and a handful of newcomers. Here’s more about them.

Well before NFL star Tom Brady retired from professional football, his off-field legacy was beginning to take shape through a business that’s grown from a handful of people dedicated to optimizing the quarterback’s social media opportunities to a multidimensional creative studio with about 20 employees across the country.
The company is called Shadow Lion, and it was founded in 2017 by a core team including Brady’s longtime manager Ben Rawitz, Jeff Fine (who happens to be Rawitz’s brother), and Gilad Haas who previously worked for Brady’s New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman. The firm is one of a few celebrity founded marketing agencies — think: Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort — that have cropped up in recent years.
The buzzy Hertz commercials? That was them. The Emmy-winning series Tom vs. Time? They worked on that, alongside Religion of Sports, too.
But in the years since the creative studio was founded...

Writers rooms are opening this week for Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television’s three Chicago dramas for NBC, three FBI dramas for CBS as well as NBC’s Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu.
In light of Wolf veteran Derek Haas’ departure last spring as FBI: International showrunner and Chicago Fire co-showrunner, both series have set successors.
Andrea Newman, formerly co-showrunner alongside Haas, will be sole showrunner for Chicago Fire‘s upcoming 12th season.
Another Wolf vet, Chicago P.D. co-creator and former showrunner Matt Olmstead, will serve as showrunner on Season 3 of FBI: International, which he originally had joined as executive producer.
The rest of the showrunners on the Chicago, FBI and Law & Order series are staying put with the exception of Law & Order: Organized Crime. As Deadline reported, Sean Jablonski stepped down as showrunner in March, the fourth showrunner to exit the NBC police...

Eight of Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television writers rooms are opening this week following the end of the writers strike. Additionally, two new showrunners have been named: “Chicago Fire” Season 12 will be run by Andrea Newman, formerly co-showrunner with Derek Haas; and “FBI: International” Season 3 will be run by executive producer Matt Olmstead.
Haas, who co-created “Chicago Fire,” was the previous showrunner of “FBI: International” as well. He exited Wolf Entertainment last November after 10 years.
While Season 3 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was first run by Sean Jablonski then later “Svu” showrunner David Graziano, the team is searching for a new Season 4 showrunner. This will be the show’s seventh showrunner, as Barry O’Brien, Bryan Goluboff, Ilene Chaiken and Matt Olmstead previously held the title. The spinoff has not yet set a date to return to the writers room.

So here you sit. You’ve spent the past few years (decades?) chasing down your dreams, encountering challenge after challenge, enduring the extreme vagaries of film financing, media mergers and daily Covid testing, and through it all you remained true to your creative vision.
There was that first vomit draft of your screenplay, so horrible you almost cried. There was the humbling—often humiliating—process of finding the money, then the fun of putting your team together. There was that one time on set when the Pa tripped and knocked over the camera table, putting a crack in your band-new Zeiss lens. And then there were the obnoxious notes and festival rejections.
But still: you made a movie! Frankly, you deserve an award for just making it this far. Unfortunately, karma and self-actualization do not typically manifest in tangible form.

“Homicide Hills” comes to the U.S. as a novel treat – a light-hearted TV police series from Germany! A country not exactly renowned for humor (Google Robin Williams on that point) gives us its equivalent of charming shows like England’s “New Tricks,” France’s “Sharif” (previously reviewed here) or Canada’s “Nurdoch Mysteries.” In this case, Sophie Haas (Caroline Peters) is a tough, brash cop in Cologne who thinks she’s up for promotion. She’s right… in a way. The brass doesn’t approve of her bold tactics, seemingly irked by her gender and unmatched success rate. So they ship her off to become the chief of a sleepy German village’s force far from their turf.

Josef Newgarden, a two-time IndyCar champion and star of the new “100 Days to Indy” series on the CW network, shook a little spice into the rivalry between his North American open-wheel racing series and Formula One – suggesting that “Drive to Survive” on Netflix has been “fabricating” storylines.
Newgarden made his comments from onstage Wednesday night during a Q&a session following the premiere of “100 Days to Indy,” a quick-turnaround documentary-style show being co-produced by CW and Vice. He said IndyCar, which holds its third event of the 2023 season this weekend in Long Beach, has enough close racing to keep things interesting organically.
“The competition is so good that there’s no need to fabricate anything,” Newgarden said, “unlike … some motorsports products.”
That drew a knowing laugh from the Long Beach crowd and fellow IndyCar drivers onstage including Pato O’Ward, Marcus Ericsson, Scott McLaughlin and “Drive to Survive” director...

Race car driving is far more complicated, suspenseful, and potentially heart-stopping than just a bunch of left turns. Formula 1, the international car racing series with the fastest cars still able to be driven on the road, has delivered dynasties, rivalries, chess match tactics and epic overtakes for over 70 years. But, at least in America, the sport has long been a tree falling in the woods with no one there to hear whether or not it makes a sound. Now, each season of F1 is a tree falling in the woods filmed from every angle for the Netflix docuseries “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.”
“We’ve always been aiming to make a show that can transcend the sport, which is not to say that we don’t want existing sports fans to love the show. We absolutely do, but we wanted something that was accessible,” co-executive producer Tom Rogers told IndieWire.

It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. During Wednesday’s episode of “Chicago Fire,” Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide left town to go to “the best arson investigation training program in the world.” While he could have turned down the last-minute opening, the opportunity was too big to pass on.
Kinney did not appear on the episode, as he had already left at the time of shooting. Instead, the news was delivered to Boden (Eamonn Walker) from Ofi’s Van Meter (Tim Meter). While Boden is disappointed, he knows the training will be beneficial for the firehouse whenever Severide returns.
Last month, Variety confirmed that Kinney was taking a leave of absence from the procedural to deal with a person matter.
Kinney has led “Chicago Fire” since its debut in 2012. He’s appeared on “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.” and the short-lived “Chicago Justice.”

Indian Wells (USA), Feb 28 (Ians) Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the Indian Wells Masters, also known as BNP Paribas Open due to injury, the tournament announced on Tuesday.
“Three-time BNP Paribas Open Champion Rafa Nadal has withdrawn from the 2023 tournament due to injury,” the tournament said in a tweet.
The Spaniard began his season at the United Cup before losing in the second round of the Australian Open to American Mackenzie McDonald. After his Melbourne exit, the 36-year-old underwent tests and reported the results to fans.
“Good afternoon. I have undergone medical tests after losing yesterday,” Nadal wrote in January.
“The Mri shows a grade 2 injury in the iliopsoas muscle in my left leg. Now it’s time for sports rest and anti-inflammatory physiotherapy. Normal recovery time 6 to 8 weeks,” he added.

Like everyone else in the world, the “Morning Joe” studio discussed the saga of the China spy balloon Monday.
On Saturday, the U.S. military shot down the suspected Chinese balloon off the coast of South Carolina, after it had made its away across much of the U.S. Republicans have criticized Biden for not shooting the balloon down sooner, as it was able to float over sensitive military installations. China claimed the balloon was a meteorological research vessel that was blown off course.
The balloon also stalled a planned meeting of high-level officials from the U.S. and China on Friday. When news broke of it floating about 60,000 feet above the mainland U.S. last week, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken postponed his trip.

No one disputes the direct line between the exploding popularity of Formula 1 in the United States and the hit series “Drive to Survive,” soon to launch its fifth season on Netflix. So it was only a matter of time before IndyCar, America’s premier open-wheel racing series, would try something similar.
But getting F1’s American counterparts to open the throttle could be tricky – at least at first.
A production crew from Vice Media this week began crawling all over Thermal, California, where the Ntt IndyCar Series’ nearly 30 regular drivers started testing their machines ahead of next month’s 2023 season debut. The TV series, “100 Days to Indy,” is expected to air this year on the CW.

Jude Law (Captain Marvel) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) have signed on to star in the true crime domestic terrorism thriller The Order, which is set to be directed by Justin Kurzel (Nitram) from a screenplay written by Zach Baylin, the Oscar-nominated writer of King Richard. Baylin’s script is based on the book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt.
The Silent Brotherhood tells of the escalating crimes of the titular white supremist domestic terror group. The Order has the following synopsis: In 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. As baffled law enforcement agents scrambled for answers, a lone FBI agent (Law), stationed in the sleepy, picturesque town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, came to believe the crimes were not the work of traditional, financially motivated criminals but a group of dangerous domestic terrorists,...
