Since Dancing with the Stars has been around for so many seasons, viewers have grown accustomed to how the show runs.
Interestingly enough, the show’s boss decided to make a major format change recently.
One of the women in charge of Dancing with the Stars is named Deena Katz.

It allowed the judges to override public votes on final decisions about who should get kicked off.
As of Season 32, this particular format from the show has been completely removed.
Why did Deena Katz get rid of the judges’ save mechanic?
When asked by TVLine about why Dancing with the Stars removed the judges’ save mechanic, Deena gave an honest response.
She explained that America’s voice should be the most important voice of all. It’s not all about the judges!

Dancing With the Stars did away with its judges’ save, with little fanfare, during Season 32 — and now we know why it was missing.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, executive producer Deena Katz told TVLine that the judges’ save — which had been in place since Season 28 — was, at least in the eyes of Dancing‘s creative team, diminishing the impact of viewers’ votes.

Xochitl Gomez isn’t ready to leave the Dancing with the Stars ballroom.
“I don’t want this show to end, and I think it’s gonna be really good for me to keep coming back,” she joked after her big win during the finale. Her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy added: “We’ll be back here next week, just streaming on our socials.”
After redeeming their foxtrot and bringing it home with a fiery freestyle, Gomez and Chmerkovskiy received two back-to-back perfect scores from the judges. With their scores from the semifinals also included in their judges’ totals Tuesday night, they were the only couple to earn a perfect score of 120 across all four dances.
“Gosh, I didn’t think that [we did that]. I forgot until there had been like a little thing that said, this is your score something out of something, and it was the score. I was like, ‘What? We did that?...

What is it about “Bachelorettes” on “Dancing with the Stars”? They’re generally pretty great at dancing, and their popularity is through the roof. Will Charity Lawson be the latest to prevail on the show? She would be the third “Bachelorette” alumna in five seasons to claim the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy.
In season 28 Hannah Brown, partnered with pro Alan Bersten, claimed the Mirror Ball Trophy. The very next year in season 29 the prize went to Kaitlyn Bristowe, who was teamed up with Artem Chigvintsev. Those were the first US Mirror Ball victories for both Bersten and Chigvintsev, so having a “Bachelorette” by your side is undeniably good luck.

This article contains spoilers for the Nov. 28 episode of “Dancing With the Stars”
Five couples went into Season 32 semi-finals “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night, with only four slated to compete in the finale next week. But in a major twist, no one went home Tuesday night.
The final contestant’s slot came down to high scorers Ariana Madix and Xochitl Gomez and, to their enormous surprise, fans had voted them both through to the finale.
Alyson Hannigan, who ended the night with the lowest judges’ scores, was so convinced she was going home that she told partner Sasha Ferber after their elegant Waltz,” If that’s my last dance with you, I just want to tell you I just love you so much.” Hough said Hannigan’s the dance, set to “Come Away With Me.” “Comwas her best dance to date and Carrie Ann Inaba praised her “emotional vulnerability.

Admit it: you started this episode knowing who was going to go home, right?
If you are a true student of Dancing with the Stars, you should be able to predict the order in which the celebs are given the boot. Sure, there is the occasional misstep; many of you thought Barry Williams would be toast long ago, but the chipper senior actually made it to week 8, along with the inexplicably fortunate Harry Jowsey.
Williams is gone now, but Jowsey is not. Will his great luck finally run out tonight?
But wait! I should be saving space for the real star of the ballroom — Taylor Swift! Alas, the recording star didn’t show up in her Danskins. Instead, we got her music, her choregrapher Mandy Moore as a guest judge, and a pre-taped sorry y’all from Tay Tay herself: “I so wish I could be there, but I’m on tour in Brazil.

Instead, we got her music, her choregrapher Mandy Moore as a guest judge, and a pre-taped sorry y’all from Tay Tay herself: “I so wish I could be there, but I’m on tour in Brazil.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars honors one of the hottest stars on the planet, Taylor Swift, with an episode featuring some of her greatest hits. Subsequently, her Eras Tour choreographer, Mandy Moore, will join the judging panel to offer her “Taylor-made” critiques of the remaining six couples.
How many of Taylor Swift’s songs will be used on ‘Dancing with the Stars?’
Dancing with the Stars has kept the songs featured during Taylor Swift night on the down low. However, there are some facts that Showbiz Cheat Sheet does know.
Taylor Swift Night will feature each of the six remaining couples dancing individually and three relay dances with another pair. That means nine songs from Taylor’s catalog should be performed.
While it is likely that many of Taylor Swift’s more popular songs will be heard, the series could also surprise fans with a few lesser-known tracks during the performances.

The seven remaining couples delivered big time on Tuesday’s (November 14) Dancing With the Stars, which paid tribute to Whitney Houston with a night of stunning performances. Special guest Billy Porter joined the judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, to watch and score the routines, which included a perfect set of 10s for The Baby-Sitters Club star Xochitl Gomez and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. After two hours of impressive performances, America voted on which couples they wanted to see move on to next week’s Taylor Swift-themed show. With the judges’ scores combined with the viewers’ votes, it left Barry Williams & Peta Murgatroyd, Jason Mraz & Daniella Karagach, and Charity Lawson & Artem Chigvintsev in the bottom three. Despite an impassioned performance that saw Williams ripping his shirt off, the Brady Bunch alum and his partner Murgatroyd were eliminated from the competition. Many fans were shocked by Williams’ elimination,...

Visiting celebrities who sit next to Dancing With the Stars judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli always bring enthusiasm to their role. But not all of them bring what Paula Abdul did earlier this week – experience and knowledge not only about the world of dance but DWTS, specifically. “I love this show,” Abdul told TV Insider on the post-show press line. “I’m a big fan. Even if I’m traveling, I’ll go back and watch it on tape.” Artem Chigvintsev raved about Abdul’s critiques. “She knows what she’s talking about,” the pro dancer said. “She comes from such different parts of the world; she’s a dancer, she’s a choreographer, she’s a performer… She knows it all. She’s been through it all.” Abdul didn’t hesitate to raise a paddle with a different number on it than the show’s regular trio of judges did.

On “Music Video Night,” reality TV star Harry Jowsey was going for a “Justin Timberlake” look in his routine with pro partner Rylee Arnold. Alas, the couple scored a mere 24 points (out of 40) for their jazz set to Nsync’s “It’s Gonna Be Me.” When critiqued by the judges, Bruno Tonioli quipped that Jowsey’s Timberlake wig looked like it belonged to “Sophia Petrillo” from The Golden Girls. TV Insider asked Jowsey on the post-show press line if he’s aware of who Sophia Petrillo is. “I know the name,” he responded. “If I see a photo of [her], I’d probably know who that is.” Arnold likewise was unfamiliar with the wise-cracking character played by the late Estelle Getty on the NBC sitcom that ran from 1985-1992 and lives on in reruns on Hallmark, in memes, and in clips on Instagram. “Dancing with the Stars” Season 32 is back and it’s a bit different Season 31 — including having a new (old) home. Here’s everything to know about the season.
Where is “Dancing with the Stars” Season 32 airing?
ABC and Disney+. That’s right. After one season exclusively on Disney+, “Dancing” returned to ABC for Season 32, which will also stream live on Disney+. It is the first series to be simulcast on ABC and Disney+. Episodes will also be available the next day on Hulu.
“I’m very happy we’re back on ABC,” Derek Hough told TV Insider in June. “I think it was fantastic that we moved to Disney+ for a season. It did great, but I think that there’s definitely [still] an audience on ABC, a very loyal audience that may have missed out on last season. It’s groundbreaking in that I’ll be on both platforms as the same time.

A week after NFL athlete Adrian Peterson was eliminated from “Dancing with the Stars” following his strongest performance on the show, Oscar winning actress Mira Sorvino had her highest-scoring routine on “Most Memorable Year Night” only to be sent home from the competition early. What did you think of the contemporary routine that landed her in 10th place? Watch it above, and vote in our polls at the bottom of this post.
Sorvino’s routine was especially moving for her because it referenced her film “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” and also featured her own daughter along with pro partner Gleb Savchenko. The judges appreciated the joyfulness of the performance. They thought it was uplifting and heartfelt. Though Bruno Tonioli critiqued that she needed to engage her core more during lifts. She ended up scoring sevens from Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba and her first ever eight from Derek Hough.

“Len was just charming, and that’s how I remember him even at 12-years-old,” said ballroom dancer, six-time Mirror Ball champion and now “Dancing with the Stars” judge Derek Hough on “Most Memorable Year Night.” He was reminiscing about Len Goodman, who had judged “DWTS” since its very first season in 2005. But he decided to retire from the show at the end of the 2022 season, and then he passed away in April 2023. The show paid tribute to the late, great Goodman with a special group dance. “He’s been in my life since the very beginning,” remembered Mark Ballas. Indeed, for many “DWTS” pros Goodman’s influence began well before the dance competition series first came on the air almost two decades ago. “He was very well respected within the ballroom community,” explained Kim Johnson-Herjavek. Ballas added, “He was a big-time judge when we were all starting to compete.

“Dancing With the Stars” is honoring their forever head judge.
During the show’s “Most Memorable Year” week, multiple former pro dancers reunited with current pros for a number dedicated to Len Goodman. The dance was choreographed by married duo and current pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson.
