Variety reports that our friends at Cineverse’s Bloody Disgusting are expanding their multimedia horror brand with a new publishing imprint called Bloody Press – and among the first projects on the Bloody Press agenda are novelizations of the films Terrifier, Terrifier 2, and Terrifier 3. The Cineverse Podcast Network, which has a Bloody FM podcast banner, will also be launching a new podcast that’s dedicated to the Terrifier franchise.
Beyond the realm of Art the Clown, Cineverse will also be producing a new scripted audio series called Dead Space: Deep Cover, “which will follow a journalist searching for her missing sister who joined a Unitologist church.” That show is a collaboration with Electronic Arts.
Bloody Press will be publishing the Terrifier 2 novelization first – which makes sense, because the movie was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. Written by Tim Waggoner,...

The Conjuring producer Tony DeRosa-Grund wrote the initial story for The Conjuring, provided the film with its name, and created a road map for the franchise – and yet he hasn’t worked on any of the sequels or spin-offs that have followed. Now Cinedigm has announced that they’re teaming up with DeRosa-Grund to develop a new paranormal horror film called The Haunted, which they’re hoping will spawn another franchise on the level of the Conjuring movies.
The Haunted is said to be “based on verifiable events”. Story details are being kept under wraps, but Cinedigm did reveal that the first film in this hopefully-franchise-to-be begins with one family’s dark and terrifying real-life preternatural experiences which intersect with historical facts and legends surrounding a young pregnant woman accused by her own father of being a witch. That convergence places the family in impending mortal danger.

Directors’ Statement: "In 2020, as the world ground to a halt, we – like everyone else – found ourselves canceling our plans. In our case, that meant shelving the film we’d intended to make that summer, even though we were more restless than ever.
Desperate for something to hang on to as the world turned upside down, we briefly considered making a screen movie, but far too much of our lives had already transitioned to zoom, so our conversations turned toward isolation and depression – and the antidotes we craved. We wanted to do something together. We wanted to escape the walls we’d been surrounded by for months. We wanted horizon lines.

‘Demon Squad’ – Cinedigm and Bloody FM Launching Scripted Audio Series from ‘The Conjuring’ Producer
Cinedigm, Bloody Disgusting’s parent company and the leading independent streaming company super-serving enthusiast fan bases, has announced today that it will be bringing new scripted audio series Demon Squad to horror fans this fall. A supernatural thriller from Tony DeRosa-Grund, Demon Squad will be a weekly, 12-episode series, available as part of the Cinedigm Podcast Network, via Bloody Disgusting’s BloodyFM and everywhere podcasts are found.
Demon Squad is set in the grungy New York City of 1973, where an increasing number of very real cases and violent crimes with occult aspects have driven the public into a frenzied panic. Besieged by complaints relating to these supposed supernatural, cult and occult cases, and in an effort to merely placate the public, the NYPD forms a ragtag squad of misfit cops – purely as a PR exercise and to generate “positive” optics. In order to elevate Screambox, a streaming service for horror fans, Tom Owen, co-managing director of Bloody Disgusting for Cinedigm, focused on a decidedly retro inspiration.
“We like to make Screambox feel like the staff picks section of old video stores,” he said. “We have a really incredible team of people who are real, authentic horror fans that live and breathe horror movies. They all have different tastes, and there’s a huge range of types of movies, but there’s a service that’s a home for all of them.”
In 2022, a year notable for an influx of critically-acclaimed and commercially-successful scary movies, Screambox transitioned from a little-known app to a major horror player, thanks to a homicidal clown named Art.
“Terrifier 2,” the surprise indie box office hit which made over 10 million dollars in theaters with a 250,000 budget, was produced by Bloody Disgusting, the company and media outlet that manages Screambox.

When we saw the teaser trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun (watch it Here) director Jason Eisener’s new film Kids vs. Aliens back in September, it was said that Rlje Films would be giving the movie a theatrical, VOD, and digital release sometime in early 2023. Now we know exactly when that release is going to happen: January 20th! Kids vs. Aliens will then be moving to the Shudder streaming service sometime later in the year.
Written by Eisener and his Hobo with a Shotgun collaborator John Davies, Kids vs. Aliens has the following synopsis:
All Gary wants is to make awesome home movies with his best buds. All his older sister Samantha wants is to hang with the cool kids. When their parents head out of town one Halloween weekend, an all-time rager of a teen house party turns to terror when aliens attack, forcing the siblings to band together to survive the night.

Eleven years have passed since director Jason Eisener brought us Hobo with a Shotgun (watch it Here), and while we have had other pieces of Eisener entertainment to watch since then – he contributed segments to the anthologies The ABCs of Death and V/H/S/2, and also directed the series The Dark Side of the Ring – we haven’t gotten another Eisener feature film. Until now. Eisener’s new film Kids vs. Aliens is set to premiere at Fantastic Fest later this month, and it has also secured distribution beyond that. Ahead of the Cannes virtual film market kicking off this week, development has officially begun on a bigger, badder, and darker reboot of the popular V/H/S horror series.

The script follows a group of friends who team up with a witch on Halloween night to prevent a rogue coven from bringing about the end of the world.
Fangoria’s owner Cinestate is financing the pic and will handle distribution. The Texas-based studio is teaming with Chicago-based media company Bloody Disgusting on the project, as well as Final Destination producers Practical Pictures and Grade A Entertainment. The latter two companies developed the script with director Gregg Bishop, who is set to helm.
As a pair, Collins and Piotrowski broke out with their 2017 indie hit Super Dark Times. Their latest feature, The Night House, starred Rebecca Hall as a widow who begins to uncover...

Created by Chris White, the genre-bending story is set around a series of worldwide blackouts — after which millions of mysterious cosmic anomalies appear everywhere across the planet. While many flee from the sentient objects, some people are drawn toward — and into — them with horrifying consequences.
Produced by Brad Miska and Chris White alongside BoulderLight Pictures’ J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, the distributor is planning a fall multi-platform release, and will be begin handling foreign sales at Cannes under its partnership with Film Mode Entertainment.

One of the highlights of V/H/S/2 for this writer had to be Jason Eisener’s “Alien Abduction Slumber Party,” which follows a group of pre-teens who must fight off malicious aliens who aren’t looking for any sleepover buddies- just victims.
Dread Central recently chatted with Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun) about his segment (which was shot from the Pov of his pooch), and we’ve got the highlights right here. Read on for our exclusive interview with Eisener, and look for V/H/S/2 (review)in limited theaters this July (the sequel is currently available everywhere on VOD).
Dread Central: Great to chat with you again, Jason. I loved the energy in “Alien Abduction Slumber Party”- it absolutely feels like it has your filmmaking sensibilities all over it. What inspired you to go the alien route for this?

Well now. This didn't take long. Fans of this year's horror anthology V/H/S can rejoice, for there's a sequel already taking shape and attracting some considerable talent.
According to THR, The Raid director Gareth Evans and one half of the Blair Witch Project duo, Eduardo Sanchez, have signed up for V/H/S/2. They will each write and direct a segment for the anthology sequel, which will also see slivers from Hobo With a Shotgun director Jason Eisener, Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre) and Sanchez’s producing partner Gregg Hale.
Of course, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrrett will be back as well, the later making his directorial debut in this sequel.
Per THR: The first movie followed a group of students hired to break into a desolate house to find a lost VHS tape, paving the way for the movie to go into a series of found-footage stories directed by up-and-coming genre filmmakers.

"If you can see the screen now, and it's going to give me some false rejection rates, some false acceptance rates, and a likelihood ratio, okay. and this gray dot over here designates the very lower end of the scale, which in essence, is translated as it's not him."...
