Tommy Lasorda, the colorful, quotable and revered Los Angeles Dodgers legend who managed the team to two World Series title and four National League pennants in the 1970s and ’80s, died today at 93. The Dodgers announced that the Hall of Famer “suffered a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest at his home” on Thursday night.
Lasorda had been sent home this week after being hospitalized for seven weeks in Orange County, spending much of that time in intensive care.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred issued the following statement:
“Tommy Lasorda was one of the finest managers our game has ever known. He loved life as a Dodger. His career began as a pitcher in 1949 but he is, of course, best known as the manager of two World Series champions and four pennant-winning clubs. His passion, success, charisma and sense of humor turned him into an international celebrity, a stature that he used to grow our sport.

“Parks and Recreation” executive producer Mike Schur was at a Wednesday night party celebrating NBC’s new fall shows, including his freshman comedy “The Good Place,” when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.
Schur wasn’t the only one. NBC brought in several screens to show the game – which meant that even NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt found himself watching Fox (which telecast the game) at his own party. But Greenblatt is a native of nearby Rockford, Ill., so he was rooting for the Cubs – as were most of the attendees gathered at Neuehouse Hollywood.

Young Levi Miller looks poised to make a name for himself on the big screen as Peter Pan in Joe Wright’s telling of the origins of the “boy who wouldn’t grow up,” but he’s also booked a TV role as Cat Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) son, Carter, on CBS’ Supergirl.
DC Comics fans may recall that the son of Cat Grant and her ex-husband Joe Morgan was named Adam, and he became mixed up in one of Toy Man’s schemes which ultimately cost him his life. Though that may still transpire on the show (Jeremy Jordan is playing Winslow “Winn” Schott Aka the Toyman, after all), TV Line does point out that the character of Carter Grant is “independent of Adam Morgan.”

The answer to that question is... maybe! According to TV Line, young Levi Miller will play Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) son Carter, who is set to debut in episode 4 of Supergirl. Now in the comics the son of Grant and her ex-husband Joe Morgan was named Adam - but the site makes it a point of mentioning this character is "independent of Adam Morgan." So, whether Carter becomes embroiled in the same Toy Man plot that eventually costs Adam his life in the source material remains to be seen. Carter is described as a “sensitive and shy” and “couldn’t be more different from his mom.” As Melissa Benoist’s Kara babysits her boss’s son and gets to know him better, “Carter finally opens up to her — revealing his true feelings for Supergirl.” Awww. Supergirl premieres on Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30/7:30c, before moving into its regular Mondays-at-8 time slot on Nov.

If you look at the picture of Orel Hershiser on the right, you might think he's a pretty unimposing guy. However, the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher is something of an Einstein when it comes to playing the game of baseball. Therefore, it makes perfect sense and is a brilliant move that he will be joining Espn's 'Sunday Night Baseball' broadcast as an analyst.
Hershiser should have been put in the booth as soon as he was signed with Espn, but all good things in their time. Now the former Mvp, Cy Young award winner and World Series champ will be lending his expertise to the broadcast anchored by Jon Miller, the play by play guy, and former Cincinnati Reds star Joe Morgan as the lead analyst.
