Carly Simon may have crooned 'Nobody Does It Better' for Roger Moore's James Bond outing The Spy Who Loved Me, but when it comes to big screen 007s it's still hard to look past Sean Connery's combo of humour, sophistication and lethal cunning.
The Scot celebrates his 85th birthday today (August 25), and we want to know what your favourite Connery movie moment is. Here's five below to help get the memory banks firing.
Goldfinger (1963)
With a laser creeping precariously towards his gonads, Connery's 007 is still able to keep his cool in the presence of villain Auric Goldfinger. The above scene shows just why he was so brilliant as Bond, mixing arrogance, wit and cunning in the space of four tense minutes…

If you find moving flat/house stressful, spare a thought for those film production companies who choose to lug their equipment, cast and crew thousands of miles to the other side of the world. Here, Damian Hellowell of removal specialists John Mason International takes a look at some of the industry's most torturous productions. Though the average family has roughly four members, some films can have thousands; whereas the average family can fit all their possessions into one or two containers, sometimes one film can take a ship-load of space to transport equipment to a desired location. Here are a few nightmare productions that decided to flaunt their individuality and cast off from the luxury of filming domestically.
Waterworld (1995): On paper, Waterworld might have looked like a relatively straightforward production. After all, Kevin Costner and director Kevin Reynolds had a colossal $100 million to play with ($162,810,000 in today's money). What hadn't been taken into account,...

Odd List Ryan Lambie Jan 16, 2013
When it comes to action movie heroes, the time doesn't always fit the crime. We look at a few characters who faced wrongful imprisonment...
"Everyone in here is innocent, you know that," Morgan Freeman's character says in The Shawshank Redemption. If a prison were populated with heroes from action movies, that statement would be absolutely true. Looking back over the last quarter century of genre flicks, it soon becomes apparent that if an action protagonist goes to prison, it's usually for a crime he (or she) didn't commit.
This is probably because most action stars don't want to play convicted murderers (a trend bucked by Vin Diesel in Pitch Black), though as the list below proves, there's at least one macho actor who seems to like films which involve being sent to jail in dubious circumstances. What follows isn't an exhaustive list, but it at least illustrates that,...

Zhang Ziyi is sharpening her legal daggers. The Beijing-born actress sued the U.S.-based China Free Press for libel last week over a story that she carried on sexual relationships with a number of high-ranking Chinese officials in exchange for roughly $100 million over the last 10 years—a story that she has vehemently denied. Ziyi's attorney, John Mason, exclusively tells E! News that his client was never approached for comment before the report suggesting that she was a six-figure prostitute was published. "Zhang Ziyi is not a prostitute, never has been a prostitute, never met this person that she's alleged to have this very expensive sexual relationship with," Mason says. The...

Pamela Anderson's lawyers have taken her to court in an effort to collect on an allegedly unpaid bill. Glaser Weil FInk Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro, the Century City law firm that handles such entertainment clients as Conan O'Brien and Keith Olbermann, petitioned the Los Angeles Superior court on Tuesday to compel an arbitration with Anderson over $66,134.91 in fees plus interest. The nature of the representation is not mentioned in the legal petition, a copy of which was obtained by THR, but the court papers say the firm and its partner John Mason were engaged to handle

It stars Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and an entire prison island full of great character actors. Ryan looks back at Michael Bay’s The Rock…
By now, Michael Bay's latest giant robot opus, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has assaulted cinemas with its chunky metal fists, and made a metric ton of money in the process. In its wake, like a shrieking Greek chorus, we've heard the usual derision that greets everything Bay makes.
The movie-watching world, therefore, appears to be separated into two sharply defined camps. On one side, we have the vocal group, who appear to think that Michael Bay is the antichrist with a steadycam rig, and on the other, a quieter faction, who keep paying money to go and watch his films.
Now, I'm not exactly a huge fan of Bay's movies, but then, I don't hate them, either. It's true that his films are never anything more than loud,...

This is your first look at New Zed Order: Survive, from author Todd Sprague. Permuted Press has recently offered this title up for zombie genre readers and the story follows a small family on the run from infection. In a natural, and isolated location, John and Sara fight off not just the zombie hordes, but something much darker and sinister (Permuted). The cover art for this novel is left and a review of this title is possibly upcoming, with Sprague confirming at least a second novel in this series.
The synopsis for this undead novel is here:
"The dead have risen, and they are hungry. They are tough, they are lethal, and they are everywhere. Savage packs of the undead wander the world, feeding on the living. And they are getting stronger…
In Brattleboro, Vermont, John Mason and his beautiful young wife Sara believe that family can survive anything. When...

London cabbies could soon face mandatory lessons on when to shut up under proposed measures to boost customer service. The capital's taxi drivers - renowned for their willingness to share their thoughts - would also learn how to welcome passengers and deal with stressful situations. Cabbies must already demonstrate 'the Knowledge' of thousands of streets and routes in the city, which takes up to three years to acquire. However, head of taxi regulation at Transport for London John Mason told the Financial Times that the regime did not fully prepare (more)...

With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opening this week, it seems time to take a look back at the critical punching bag career of Michael Bay. Outside of The Rock, Bad Boys and Transformers people have destroyed and tarnished his films. While Pearl Harbor is undoubtedly one of the worst things to happen to humanity, Bay takes too much blame for films that are otherwise purely and greatly entertaining. The guy knows what he’s making and outside of that film we shall not mention, he never parades them as “the most important film in the history of cinema making.” His flicks cater to the twelve year-old inside us all that wants to kill the villain in the worst possible way or go up and save the world on an asteroid (and really, when you’re twelve, do you care about the science of it all or blowing up the asteroid and being a hero?...
