It’s been almost two weeks since Andy Signore — creator of the YouTube channel and online movie magazine ScreenJunkies, and senior vice president of content for its parent company, Defy Media — was suspended after several women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and assault. The next day, Defy terminated Signore — the same day as Harvey Weinstein, and about a week before Amazon Studios’ head Roy Price resigned for inappropriate behavior.
Yet while The Weinstein Company and Amazon Studios work to convince the public that they’re back to business as usual, Defy does little to hide it’s in crisis mode.
On October 8, the day Signore was fired, ScreenJunkies and Defy (which oversees eight brands, including Smosh, Smosh Games, and Clevver) tweeted the official statement announcing Signore’s firing. Since then, those Twitter accounts have been silent and the official Defy Media statement didn’t extend to ScreenJunkies’ YouTube channel,...

Starbucks plans on rolling out more color-changing drinks this year following the success of its Unicorn Frappuccino, which drove a large amount of traffic to its U.S. chains during its five-day release in April.
“Just stay tuned because we have a lot more coming,” the company’s former CEO, Howard Schultz, told a Thursday earnings conference call, CNBC reports. He says the funky, pink and blue Frappuccino bumped traffic to its chains—sales will probably be seen in Starbuck’s fiscal third-quarter earnings—and helped with the coffee’s chains brand awareness.

It has been eight months since the body of a 45-year-old Texas fitness instructor was found mysteriously punctured to death inside a church during the early morning hours.
Without any new information in the death of Terri “Missy” Bevers, police have increased the reward to $50,000 for anything that leads to an arrest. Two anonymous donors contributed $15,000 each to the original $20,000 reward, the Dallas Morning News reports.
“Despite the concerted efforts of many talented investigative personnel, much remains unknown about exactly what happened that morning on April 18th, or why,” Kevin Johnson, assistant chief of the Midlothian Police Department, said in October.

Former champion is dismissive of fights involving Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora at London's Copper Box Arena
David Haye's temporary detachment from the scene mirrors the way his right biceps was ripped from its moorings in a freak training injury last year that pitched him into semi-retirement. It was an exit trailed by a chorus of derision from the sport's more cynical citizens.
Chief among the doubters was Tyson Fury, who returns to the ring in London on Saturday night but remains quietly livid that Haye's two late withdrawals from fights against him in 2013 left him seriously out of pocket, and briefly killed his ambition.
In the lead-up to his ticking-over bout against the American Joey Abell on the undercard of Dereck Chisora's trickier 12-rounder against Kevin Johnson at the Copper Box Arena, Fury gave Haye the full benefit of his vocabulary, a tirade best left to the imagination.

It seems to happen at least once a season, but it looks like the Sacramento Kings may be on their way out of town. After backing out of deals in the past to move the team to Anaheim and building a new arena in Sacramento, the Maloof family is negotiating with a group of investors that would move the team out of California, to Seattle.
USA Today reports the group, led by Microsoft chairman Steve Ballmer and hedge fund manager Chris Hansen, is confident the deal will eventually get done. An anonymous source claims that should the deal go through, the Maloofs may retain a small stake in the team, which would be renamed the Sonics.
The Kings first came to Sacramento in 1985 after moving from Kansas City. Seattle has been without an NBA franchise since the SuperSonics left for Oklahoma City and were renamed the Thunder following the 2007-2008 season.

You know how in prison movies, the new fish are sometimes taught that to establish their place in the pecking order, they should pick a fight with the biggest, baddest inmate to see if they can win some respect? That extremely stretched metaphor is our way of introducing the fact that someone has decided to make a new animated version of The Jungle Book.Of course, Rudyard Kipling’s stories have been adapted several times. It’s just that Disney’s 1967 effort is still considered a classic and is still being watched years later. None of that is putting a new India-based gaming and ‘toon company called Dq Entertainment off the idea, with a plan to craft a new version in shiny 3D.In rather more promising news, however, the company has recruited a former Disney staff member, Tigger Movie writer / director Jun Falkenstein, to direct the film, with Iron...

Originally announced in August of this year, the T.V. adaption of Stephen King’s massive novel Under The Dome is moving along at a steady pace with the hiring of comic book writer Brian K. Vaughn to scribe the series. According to Deadline, Vaughn will pen the series, which will be produced by King and Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of DreamWorks Television, who acquired the rights to the novel shortly after its release in November 2009.
The series is being pitched as a supernatural thriller, revolving around the inhabitants of a small town in Maine and what happens when the town is inexplicably cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible forcefield. Society within the town inevitably breaks down, leading a handful of citizens to oppose a corrupt politician attempting to seize power. Think The Simpsons Movie plot, somewhat.

"Ghost Trek" can best be described as "Reno 911" meets "Ghost Hunters", and the show's gang of misfits are out to prove that they're the funniest bunch of paranormal researchers since Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz and Egon Spengler. Those of you lucky enough to be in the Louisville area of the Bluegrass State on Saturday, July 23rd, will get your chance to have a sneak peek at the pilot!
With a tagline that basically sums up the series ("Ghost Trek": Paranormal research with an emphasis on bad taste), the Paranormal Underworld Detective Society (that's right, Puds) is portrayed by an incredibly eclectic group of individuals. Actors, reality stars and former professional wrestlers are among the cast members, each bringing their own unique talent to the program.

"Lost" tends to have really strong penultimate episodes each season, in part because the show's natural ups and downs are best suited to the set-up, with the characters at their lowest, and the conclusion, as they band together to fight whatever enemy is currently giving them trouble. This week's episode, "What They Died For," was a solid episode that moved a lot of plot in an hour, but also did it in some surprising ways: The Los Angeles timeline has been the season's main gimmick, and it will apparently now be tied into the series finale in a big way. But other moments -- notably the brevity with which Jacob dispelled certain rumors -- were refreshing in their candor and helped the story feel more real. Overall, another solid set-up of all the pieces for the final play.

Has there ever been a Ben episode that didn’t deliver? First was the highly-anticipated origin tale of “The Man Behind the Curtain,” one of the high points of an uneven third season. That was followed up by season four’s “The Shape of Things to Come,” which capably pulled off the difficult task of wringing an incredible amount of emotion from the relationship between the show’s villain and a daughter he kidnapped. Season five brought “Dead is Dead,” which was good enough to win Michael Emerson his second Emmy, and first for the role.
It’s impossible to discuss these episodes without constantly praising Emerson, who impressed the creators so much in what could’ve been a five-episode stint in season two, that he was bumped up to series regular and became one of the most integral parts in the show. Ben hasn’t had a ton to...

People, people; yes, we're all upset that Larry "Pants on the Ground" Platt didn't advance past the auditions phase, but let's maintain some perspective here... Police in St. Petersburg, Florida, arrested 53-year-old resident Cynthia Ware and charged her with attempted murder, following an argument that she had with her boyfriend, Kevin Johnson, over Tuesday's episode of American Idol. Well, not so much an argument as a stab-a-thon. It seems that Ware and Johnson, 47, got into a fight about something on Tuesday's Idol and, when Johnson changed the channel to avoid further conflict, Ware allegedly did the only logical thing in such...

On "Lost," death is about as common as the cold. It drifts in and out just like a sickness, sometimes with warning but often without any signs at all, and almost always claiming its victims with ruthless efficiency. Whether the dead party is a beloved or loathed character, one thing remains true throughout — the death scenes of "Lost" are almost always epic and inventive.
After the jump, we've listed 23 dead characters who should return for the final season of "Lost."
Stay tuned to MTV next week for the final installments of Lost In Numbers, a series of features pegged directly to the show's trademark number sequence: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Needless to say, spoilers for season five and earlier lie ahead. And make sure to tune in to MTV Movies Blog next Tuesday for our live blog of the season premiere!

The "Getting Lost" series is about a Lost newbie's attempts to watch all five seasons of the show for the first time, just as the sixth (and final) one rolls along.
What I Watched on Week 12: Season 4, Episodes 6-10 ("The Other Woman", "Ji Yeon", "Meet Kevin Johnson", "The Shape of Things to Come" and "Something Nice Back Home")
Surely you used the six days in between initial broadcasts of Lost to ponder what you just saw. Oddly for me, the opposite is the case. I mean, if I don't watch an episode for more than a couple of days, I find myself going "what?" all over again. That's exactly what happened when I resumed watching last week, after a week-long break which saw me fly to Singapore amazed at "The Constant". I felt a bit disengaged, to be honest.

Michael still bores me. Let's face it, when Lost first announced lost/profile/harold_perrineau_1.aspx">Harold Perrineau was returning, fans were excited, but only over the theoretical practice of bringing back a cast member who left two seasons ago. Lost fans are continuity gluttons, obsessing over how things fit and how things are connected. So even if you don't like Michael as a character, at least his return serves a purpose.
I'm qualifying here because I wasn't a big fan of “Meet Kevin Johnson,” last night's final pre-strike installment of Lost. Though I am loathe to invoke this other show, it reminded me a bit of the Heroes episode “Four Months Ago…” from season 2. The episode fills in a missing period of time and essentially tells us things we already know without telling us much more. We knew Ben somehow had to contact Michael and convince him to get...

lost-quiz.jpg" alt="Lost" />Tonight brings the final pre-strike episode of Lost, after which the show takes a five-week break before returning with the final five episodes of season 4 on April 24 at 10pm (more likely, 10:02pm) following new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. This final episode, “Meet Kevin Johnson,” promises to inform viewers about what happened to Michael (Harold Perrineau) after he got off the island.
