"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" lives up to its title by placing a lot of focus on the clone troopers themselves. Some of the characters, like Commander Cody and Commander Bly, were inherited from the "Star Wars" prequel films. The show used the idea that clones had nicknames (instead of only serial numbers) and ran with it, creating many other clones -- including Captain Rex -- with custom names and armor to convey individuality.
One of the more striking clone looks is Commander Doom, who appears only briefly in the "Clone Wars" season 6 premiere "The Unknown." That name isn't an accident; the "Star Wars" website confirms that the creators named Doom after Marvel Comics villain Doctor Victor Von Doom. While Commander Doom gets too little screen time to see if he has the ego of his namesake, the creators used Doctor Doom's design to color his armor.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars saw Asajj Ventress as the animated series’ antagonist, voiced by Nika Futterman. It took no time for the character to become a fan favorite which is why her “end” in the 2015 novel, Star Wars: Dark Disciple, left the fandom in shock as they grieved their favorite ex-Sith. Now, with the return of The Bad Batch, fans will finally get to see more of Ventress.
Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

The "Star Wars" TV shows, particularly the animated ones, are arguably the purest expression of George Lucas' desire to make a sci-fi movie inspired by the serials he watched growing up. With these shows, the franchise is able to explore a vast variety of stories, themes, and genres. We've got zombie horror episodes in "The Clone Wars," a rock opera in "Star Wars Visions," and more. Likewise, these shows have introduced meaningful additions to the lore, like with the "Ghost of Mortis" episodes and the in-canon introduction of Darth Bane, all while fixing a lot of the problems with the prequel trilogy.
Granted, they are still TV shows, ones aimed at younger audiences too, so they can't be all plot or lore drops. We also get downtime episodes and standalone stories, ones with side quests and silly moments, which nevertheless help make the galaxy feel lived-in and with stories that...

There will be spoilers for "The Bad Batch" Season 2 Episode 3 - "The Solitary Clone"
The latest episode of "The Bad Batch" focuses on Crosshair (Dee Bradley Baker), one of the former members of Clone Force 99. He turned on his brothers and joined up with the Empire. In this episode, the planet Desix is being subjugated by the Empire, Crosshair is assigned to Commander Cody's regiment, and they work together to infiltrate Desix and save the Imperial Governor assigned to the sector.
Here, the show continues to explore the different aspects of the Empire's rise and shows us Desix, a planet that was a Separatist stronghold that maintained its droid army. With the Empire coming in hot, ready to take over and occupy the planet, this episode of "The Bad Batch" feels very much like "The Clone Wars" with a much more sinister bent to it.

There's no "The Clone Wars" without the clone soldiers of the "Star Wars" franchise. In George Lucas's 2005 "Revenge of the Sith," the Republic clone soldiers play a major role in (mostly) eradicating the Jedi, their commanders, under the machinations of Darth Sidious. They once existed to answer the question, "Why are there barely any Jedi in Luke Skywalker's time?" Set before the events of "Revenge of the Sith," "The Clone Wars" cartoon series premiered in 2008 and set out to explore the clones' humanity.
Sharing the DNA template of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, the clones display identical profiles yet diverse personalities. From their artificial birth in the Kamino labs, the clones are engineered and trained to be efficient soldiers against the Republic's Separatist enemies. Naturally, this raises ethical and political problems. Note that clones are absent in the Republic's Coruscant chambers where politicians debate their fates. The political...

George Frayne, aka pioneering alt-country rocker Commander Cody, died earlier this week of esophageal cancer at his Saratoga Springs, N.Y. home. He was 77 and his death was confirmed by former bandmate John Tichy.
Frayne, the frontman for the band Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, was a part of the late ’60s San Francisco music scene, but later became strongly associated with the burgeoning live music movement in Austin, Texas. The group used variations on Western swing, jump blues, rockabilly and boogie-woogie, inspiring the legions of roots-rock and Americana musicians to come.
In 1971, the band released its first album, Lost in the Ozone, which scored its only Top 10 hit with a cover of Charlie Ryan’s 1955 rockabilly song, Hot Rod Lincoln, a frantic, speed-talking ode to wayward hot rodding.
They arrested me and they put me in jail
And called my pappy to throw my bail.

With just under a month to go before release, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has outed the details of its season pass program for Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Purchasing the aforementioned pass will extend one’s time spent in the block-based galaxy far, far away, and will also grant bonuses, like exclusive access to the Jedi Character Pack (which will be available at launch). However, the real draw will be the three story packs and four character packs that will come with it.
They include:
Poe’s Quest for Survival Level Pack
A whole new adventure following Poe Dameron’s journey back to the Resistance base. After his daring escape from the First Order that left him stranded on Jakku, Poe must search for Bb-8 and locate a ship to escape the desert planet in an effort to find his way home.
Playable characters and vehicles include: Naka Lit,...

William Schallert and Patty Duke.
Popular character actor William Schallert has died at age 93, having been active in the acting community right up through recent years. Schallert was a familiar face to retro movie and TV fans, even if his name was not as well known. He is remembered by many for playing the harried father of teenage Patty Duke in the 1960s sitcom "The Patty Duke Show". (In a tragic coincidence, Ms. Duke also recently passed away.) Schallert was much beloved by science fiction and horror fans for his appearances in TV series such as "Commander Cody", "Space Patrol", "Men Into Space" and "The Twilight Zone".
Artist Pete Emslie's tribute to Schallert. (For more of Emslie's artistic creations, visit The Cartoon Cave.)
In feature films Schallert appeared in the cult classics "Them!", "The Incredible Shrinking Man", "Colossus: The Forbin Project" as well as the 1983 feature film "Twilight Zone: The Movie...

For those of you that my have been off-planet yesterday, J.J. Abrams and the folks at LucasFilm/Disney unveiled the second teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens yesterday, at the opening ceremony of Celebration in Anaheim. The reveal was nothing less than insane. Sitting at my dining room table watching the live feed of the panel, I have never in my life felt so connected to other fans. This was a global event. I had friends texting me, instant messaging me, calling me, you name it—all while we were watching some of the coolest and most goosebump-inducing announcements in the history of Star Wars lore. I had friends in attendance at the panel, and even though I couldn’t make it, I felt like I was there. Not unlike how Yoda, Obi-Wan, and the newly redeemed Anakin (played by Sebastian Shaw, not that other less-than-Special Edition...
